Brunswick Seventh-Day Adventist Church
October 8, 2022
This week’s message: Repairing the Breach, pt 3, continued.
CORRECTION: We apologize for the mistaken date at the end of today's message: Jesus' death occurred in A.D. 31, not A.D. 27.
This week TJ and I will finish part three of our ‘sub-series’ on the Sabbath. We will continue reflecting on Jesus’ relationship to the Sabbath during his earthly ministry, picking up where we left off last week.
PLEASE NOTE: This week’s study guide is identical to last week’s study guide, so if you’ve already worked through the study guide, consider reading and reflecting on John 5-9.

This week’s message: Repairing the Breach, pt 1.
This week we continue the journey we began two weeks ago in Isaiah 58. We’ll be exploring two primary pieces. One, what does it mean to be a “repairer of the breach” or a “restorer of homes”? Two: in more specific terms, what does it look like to live out the true fast God has in mind? As promised, this is part of a sub-series on the Sabbath, and this week we’ll begin to see the outlines of that connection.

This week’s message: The Final Week: Bethany.
Some places burst with significance for us. An old house. A place in the neighborhood. A stretch of beach. A country road. To name just a few. Bethany was that place for Jesus. It’s also our starting point in a series of periodic reflections on Jesus’ final week.

Sat, 03 Sep 2022 - 52min - 23 - [Dig Deep] Habakkuk - Pastor Nathan Stearman
Brunswick Seventh-Day Adventist Church
June 4, 2022
This Week's Message: [Dig Deep] Habakkuk. When God and life don’t make sense.
The poignant book of Habakkuk, written so long ago, feels remarkably contemporary. See for yourself: “God, how long do I have to cry out for help before you listen? How many times do I have to yell, ‘Help! Murder! Police!’ before you come to the rescue? Why do you force me to look at evil, stare trouble in the face day after day? Anarchy and violence break out, quarrels and fights all over the place. Law and order fall to pieces. Justice is a joke. The wicked have the righteous hamstrung and stand justice on its head” (Habakkuk 1:2–4, The Message). Feel that, anybody? Yeah, me, too.
Your assignment—read Habakkuk’s short letter (the prophet wasted no time in getting to his point).

- 21 - The Human Factor - Pastor Nathan Stearman
Brunswick Seventh-Day Adventist Church
May 21, 2022
The Human Factor. There’s a reason Jesus instructed his disciples, “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19, NIV). And also, “You are the salt of the earth. …You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:13 & 14, NIV). Paul asks a related, probing question: “How can they hear without someone preaching to them?” (Romans 10:14, NIV). What is unmistakably clear in Scripture is that in God’s redemptive mission, human participation actually matters. Consider reading Isaiah 6:1-8. Ask yourself the question: Do I matter much in God’s great work of redemption?

Sat, 21 May 2022 - 28min - 20 - The G.O.A.T. - Peter Flores
Brunswick Seventh-Day Adventist Church
May 14, 2022
The G.O.A.T: We’ll be talking about GOATs this weekend and it might not be the goat you’re thinking of. We are butting heads with the topic of giftedness and it’s role in our day to day lives.
A few weeks ago we dove in together to try and find where Spiritual Gifts were and how we could find our own.
This week our challenge is to nail down specifically what the Spiritual Gifts are at Brunswick and what their uses will be for our specific contexts. We don’t all live in Brunswick but maybe God is calling us to do something special where we are and while we are here.
Please join me in reading 1 Timothy 4:14-16 in preparation for this week’s teaching.
Love God. Love people.

- 17 - Multipliers - Pastor Nathan Stearman
Brunswick Seventh-Day Adventist Church
April 23, 2022
Multipliers. “Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds” (John 12:24, NIV). “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19, NKJV). “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19, NIV). Multiplication is embedded in the created world—and it’s in the DNA of the disciple. It’s in the DNA of the church. Kingdom growth is not an awkward contortion of the church or the disciple to dutifully follow orders—rather, as the church aligns with Christ’s mission, it’s natural.

Brunswick Seventh-Day Adventist Church
April 9, 2022
This week’s message:
Brunswick Jumping Beans. This weekend we'll be looking together at the book of Esther and JUMPING BEANS! I'd overdo it with mushrooms if I'm not careful so I figure we should move our mycelium into some different ideas.
Jumping Beans or rather, Mexican Jumping beans, were introduced to me as a child. In fact, it was a nickname for me. I was a child who couldn't sit still. Mexican jumping beans don't sit still either and they aren't really beans anyway. They are seeds and inside is a little surprise.
This week I'll leave the main thoughts a surprise as well but one of the topics we'll be discussing is comfort and its role in our spiritual journeys.

Spiritual Gifts and Where to Find Them.
Be honest, when was the last time you evaluated your giftedness in a spiritual sense? Do you know what your gift(s) is/are? Do you nurture it/them? How do we know when we are exercising our gifts in the way God intended?
I have these same questions too and honestly there are perhaps too many answers. This week I hope you'll join me in finding out what the Bible has to say about spiritual gifts.

- 9 - Comfort or Christianity - Peter Flores
Brunswick Seventh-Day Adventist Church
February 26, 2022
This week’s message
Comfort or Christianity? This week we’ll be examining the role of comfort in the life of a Christian from the perspective of…Mushrooms? What does a healthy Christian biome look like and how does Christianity relate outside of its own bubble? Do the fruits of the spirit become fruiting bodies that are seen throughout our communities? Does our Outreach Sabbath mimic mycelium? If you don’t know what I’m talking about that’s ok! We’ll be perusing over a variety of topics/ideas and stories to help better understand our roles as Christians and where on the list of priorities our personal comfort should lie.

Brunswick Seventh-Day Adventist Church
February 12, 2022
This week’s message
Infusion. It’s essential to who believers are. Jesus used the metaphor of “salt,” in a sense depicting the idea of infusion as how we impact the people around us. In this week’s teaching, I’ll be focusing on what it means to infuse our space with the goodness of God. It’s an idea that permeates Scripture. It must permeate our church culture, too. And it might be more radical than we anticipate.

Today's Message: God Tempted
Today we will spend some time looking at how to study questions that arise while reading the Bible as we look at one question from this week: What does it mean to tempt God? We look at the Bible passages quoted in Matthew from the Old Testament to answer this really important question and what it means for us today.
