The carpet conundrum in Chris' Tracker is fixed, only to be eclipsed by a rodent infestation. Our good friend Kilowatt Kevin gets the Endura nose on his 68 GTO aligned by "the old school master", Steve, at Celebrity Chase Collision, then helps Ray re-install the gas tank in the 70 442 at the shop. The transmission mount for that car proves to be a problem when the parts house sends the wrong one, stalling forward progress. Chris shares his victorious repair of a random engine misfire on the families Mazda CX-9.  Ray dives right into his recent experiments with the ultrasonic cleaner to de-carbon some of his guns as well as its use in carburetor rebuilding work. Ray & Chris reminisce back 12 years to their 10th show anniversary party that was held at a junkyard (where else?). Good friends and listeners Debbie & Rusty came down with a vintage racing go-kart, and this week Ray attended a celebration of Rusty's life where he was shot from a cannon and 4 rockets! Chris posits that car guys are a superstitious bunch, then admits that he's better at sewing than welding. A dealership software hack & Mazda belts round out the show.

This week the guys delve into the dark science of classic automotive restoration strategies. Between their own projects and the ones their friends are involved with, there's plenty of fodder for this mill too. Ray reports a good experience after using Rislone fuel treatment to resolve a P0420 Cat code in a family car, then explains the parts he needs to complete the A/C installation in his GTO. Chris takes us home with a neat repair on his Tracker exhaust system.

Ray is transfixed by a complex rearview mirror repair, then spends time at the "Rolling Joint" food truck car cruise. Replacing a blown shock with a good used one solved the problem of the Fiat sitting too low in the rear, and Chris knows why a pair of 30-year-old sneakers has a cut mark in them. Falling asleep while doing a podcast, as well as the many options available for disc brake conversion hardware wrap up this hour of fun.  

Chris ruminated over his paint-soaked Tracker carpet issue & Ray mused over Fiat's selection of clutch cable adjusting hardware. Then, joined by Lake Speed Jr. the show got wings and took off into the unchartered territories of oil technology. Terms like zinc, calcium, phosphorous and viscosity were tossed around like projectiles at a beer pong party. Lake covered all the hard topics and passed on some excellent recommendations we can all use.

Kicking off the "new year" (post Mother's Day) portion of the show, Ray describes to Chris how he cleaned his balls and will soon be polishing them, and of course he was referring to his pool table equipment. The use of Cataclean gets a thumbs up, but a CEL in the Impala gets a head scratch from even the experts. Chris describes with great detail how an "Italian Tune-Up" is performed, followed by an example of how to use a paint thickness gauge. Ray's visit to a mega-car facility raises some questions.

Following a long tradition of doing a "best-of" show where we feature bits that highlight the callers, this is the 2024 edition. Featuring the likes of "Billy Velvet", the "ROMEO Club", and the Hijinx found on MatcoMan Brian's tool truck, we deep dive into the past year and find reflective thoughts from men like Dave Hayes and Carl Anthony, but the capper is Bob from RVC bestowing the MotorMouth Person of the Year on Tom from Massapequa. Not even Ray's "Crack cream" story can beat that show stopper.

On our second fundraising hour we talk about how guest co-host MatcoMan Brian visits Harbor Freight to collect owed money. A current Mustang project and Ray's memories of riding in a first Gen 'Stang filled with teenage girls comes up. Work on making a dual quad RAM Air intake pan gets kicked around, as does making a replica of the original Bat Phone.

On our first fundraising hour we talk about how to check a serpentine belt, what goes into buying a used car, and how much debris can actually accumulate between vehicle cleanings. Ray's home-repaired garage stereo system gets a late nod to the do-it-yourself mantra this show professes weekly.  

The show starts off on a clean note by talking about changing the cabin air filter in your car. A caller with a 428 CJ Fairlane diverts the boy's attention with his parts search problems, then Chris explains a "new" brake bleeding technique he came upon. Remember car cigarette lighters? Chris kicks us off with a story of clogged drains, to which Ray counters with his worst cabin air filter encounter. Show friend Mike Mooney gets some air time this week talking about the Griffith automobile and Ray warns that one can never take anything for granted when working on an older car. A caller talks about fixing broken parts on the fly, raising some MacGyver stories, and we close with Chris' tale of three questionable recalls.

Ray recounts the Rolls Royce pre-purchase inspection he did this week, then Chris tells a story about how a local tire shop raked him over the coals for a simple service. Using a new USB soldering iron and charging old battery types gets discussed, as well as the Matco tools Ray bought and put right to good use.

The boys propose a thought that everyone should get in the Spring spirit and dust off and complete an old car project. Ray takes it in another direction and suggests that hanging out with good friends is the real gift of Spring, while Chris battles with changing clips that hold parts in place. Weird noises that you can't identify come into play, as does a small spring that has a mind of its own in Ray's garage.

Ray recounts a haunting issue with a Jeep where the radio dies when the lights are turned on. Carl Anthony from Automoblog.net is back and Ray gives him the full-on Grunge talk-up. Chris poses the question asking when you know it's time to keep or sell a collector car. This show covers the relationship between car guys and good NY pizza, MatcoMan Brian talks about the recent tool expo and the new Matco flip-out panel clip tool. Callers respond by talking about their tool buying experiences and the benefits of buying from a local tool truck vendor. Ray relates how he would have recently bought a specific tool from the 1st truck that would have stopped by the shop.

Ray relates how pathetic the show's social media presence is, Chris has luck selling a used car to a young buyer, and the boys talk about the cool articles in the 50-year-old car magazines Ray is still reading. A caller's ABS brake trouble and some winter projects keep the show moving for the rest of the hour.

This week we reported on a resolution from the contentious Kawasaki sold at a Hagerty auction, then Ray brought up the correct interpretation of local highway bridge height markings. Holley carburetor and Sniper EFI cold start protocol's were discussed, then chrome from spray cans and factory coatings got tossed around.

It was a trivia filled hour when the boys talked about the iconic 60's show car "The Uncertain-T" and a local custom Corvette that surfaced recently. Ray is jazzed over an Olds 442 that's coming into the restoration shop for him to work on, and a friend's 63 Lincoln is making forward progress in its re-do too.

As has been our emerging pattern, when the Hagerty Bull list report comes out we're sure to have Carl Anthony from Automoblog.net on with us to share his industry based thoughts since ours are firmly from the streets & garages of America. This week we also covered the auction purchase of a C2 Corvette a friend made, and all of the specifics associated with a purchase of that nature.

Ray kicks off the show explaining his deep dive into Southern Rock then follows up with a warning about carrying a floor jack in your car trunk. A caller brings up his experience with Fluid Film & cavity wax coatings which gets everyone chuckling. Cold driving tips are brought up as well as a very special
customized window washer made by a show friend.

What would a new year be if it didn't bring a control board problem for the boys. Chris had to be brought up on the phone line so there were no callers, but we still talked about our use of classic cars as junk haulers, the classic MMR "dirty T-shirt" contest, hydro locked engines and Motor diagnostic manuals. Ray's favorite, ABS brake bleeding techniques were also covered in this week's show.

The boys start the year by looking back at the highlights of the last one. A caller finds great joy in the eclectic Uncle Floyd music selection, and talking about old racing legends like Broadway Freddie. Fluid film technology and ABS brake bleeding procedures are also covered in this show.

A mysterious non-working key fob kicks off the show and has the guys scratching their heads for an answer, then special guest Carl Anthony from Automoblog.net joins the show and talks about an event held at Greenfield Village in Michigan where Carl took a ride in a classic Model T Ford. Carl talks about other significant cars like the Chrysler Turbine and the spooky 1970 Challenger "Black Ghost".

Jumping into the holiday spirit Ray shows off part of his "Rasta-Claus" party outfit while Chris rants about parking lot & traffic ethics and oddities. An out of town caller relates how he drove 500 miles for some local food, and agrees with Ray's love of "Utica Greens." Interior panel clip removal tools has MatcoMan Brian coming to the rescue, then body control module placement is discussed.

It's another fun filled show where the boys talk about the benefits of having a car purchase inspected by a qualified professional, with Chris providing his thoughts about selling a car privately. The sunroof water leak on Ray's car gets diagnosed in a most simple and ingenious way, then he shows off a paint thickness gauge that wows the crowd. A caller declares the MMR "person of the year" for 2023.

Still suffering from a Turkey infused haze, Chris tell stories about how car pictures found on eBay can be utterly confusing to follow, and Ray relays his yearly tradition of working at the shop on Thanksgiving while listening to Alice's Restaurant. Last minute guest Pirate Paul drops in on the MotorMouth's to talk shop. Since he and Chris share the love of working on old Chryslers, the topic of what it takes in time, labor and cost to restore these cars comes up. Auto parts prices in general are discussed, which leads the boys to share their small parts storage strategies. The mystery behind a drawer of razor blades with an interesting graphic is confirmed by a caller, and another caller calls to report some shoddy shop practices during a recent service.

The boys talk about a recent model car show and the skills needed to compete with the masters of today, as compared to their meager offerings. Ray reports having a "ghost in the machine" with his GTO power trunk opener, and Chris talks up the benefits of changing ignition coils as a maintenance procedure. Ray works on a Barris Bugazzi, and a caller updates us on his 67 Camaro 4 speed trans issues. The Corvette Society meeting and the Pacers race team are upcoming show guests.

Chris questions the sanity of the recent road trip to Indiana Ray took to pick up a project car with a couple of friends. The choice to buy a car that's out of state vs shopping locally gets thrown around until a caller brings up the topic of EFI vs carburetion, followed by talk about the current GM strikes & EV possibilities.

On this show the boys ponder if the price of classic cars isdropping, and how to best transport the one you do buy. A callers question about the ball joint fitment on his QA1 control arms, ignition coil replacement intervals, Chris' flaky voltage regulator, and carbs vs EFI are all covered.

The boys start the show reporting the sad news that "Mr. Motion" Joel Rosen has passed away. Ray dives deep into the way back machine and talks about a party he attended that was 70's themed...and he's still dressing the part! Evan Steger joins the show to talk about the products his company
sells, one of which turned the GTO rims into shining jewels.

Chris goes to the extreme to stop a garage roof leak while Ray battles another family car with a P0300 code that led to bad coils & spark plugs. A second family car is down with a bad catalytic converter, leaving Ray in the role of chauffer until they're fixed. Chrome plating procedures are discussed, as well as a rebirth of the Soapbox Derby racing here on Long Island.

Chris relays a story about a rental company "mystery car" offer, and itwinds up he made out a lot better than a caller did. Listeners report in from the Tobay Beach car show, then Ray reports on people getting ticketed for the new NY inspection stickers. A World's Fair license plate for the GTO, a power trunk release & a new Hurst shifter stickkept Ray busy this week. The S600 Kingbolen scan tool gets talked about as it's being tested.

Chris gets hung up over Hurst shifter handle lengths, then beefing up stock car audio systems gets covered in this hour of fun.

With Chris in the studio for a visit, the boys talk about how to tunea Sniper fuel injection system & Ray relates how he recently swapped a set of snow tires for a laptop to tune his car. How to sell a car with known engine damage, and the joy of mounting a child seat in a modern car follows. YouTube phenom "Wrenching with Kenny" calls to explain how a good mechanic has piles of used parts at his disposal when working on and repairing cars these days.

This week Chris recounts the results of a compression test that left him wondering if there's more to worry about, but found a diversion in swapping out thecarpet in his Chrysler C-body. Ray was affected by the "Switzer-ism" whereby a lost part cannot be found when looking for it, it'll be found when looking for something else.That's the case of the missing Pontiac valley pan, followed by door hinge alignment woes.

Ray recounts the successful wiper motor replacement on a friend's1972 Corvette, then Chris reveals the new caller text service used on the show. Car interiors made from mushrooms gets some talk time, as does Chris' repair technique on a car's grille. You Tuber "Wrenching with Kenny" comes up when the boys talk about affordable scan tools, and questionable car smells round out the show.

We start off with a caller describing a common problem found on lawn tractors; the compression release mechanism breaks, rendering the machine un-startable. Ray's latest car project has Chris asking what the benefits are to converting an old car to electronic fuel injection over carburetion. This show starts with leaky and overtightened oil pan bolts, then delves into the ever-popular search methodology of finding car information on the Internet. Torx vs Allen head tools are discussed, and Ray takes Chris to task over buying cheap tools. Stuck oil filters, Chris' Tracker light issue and using E85 as race fuel round out the hour.

Ray recounts a recent job where he and another mechanic workedtogether and found a solution to a problem by putting their heads together. This week the boys have the pleasure of talking with their good friend Luke Tucker from the EZ RED company. Luke covers the new line of flexible magnetic tool organization and MatcoMan Brian calls in to back him up on the product line.

MatcoMan Brian joins the boys for their second hour of fundraising and riles Chris up with talks of fixing up his Audi Quattro, this leads to a love/hate discussion that's laughable. How to properly lubricate your hand tools comes up, as does following proper service procedures while working in the shop. A surprise pizza shows up in the studio when a show fan donates more than cash to the cause.

This years first hour of fundraising brings some great calls and topics. Ray gets a win light when the dash cluster for the C4 Corvette works, then long distance driving trips are discussed with a caller. Chris describes his frustration and solution to a fluid transfer problem, then speeding motorcycles on local highways readies the boys for hour #2.

Ray describes the electronic rebuilding process on a Corvette dash cluster, then explains why guys like hanging out at the U.D. in Queens so much. Chris relays his failed attempt at getting his Tracker DRL's to shut off, then complains about the errant hair and general schmooze found in used cars. Frozen bleed screws, Weber carburetorrebuilding & building model car kits round out this hour of fun.

Ray fell in love but don't worry, his wife isn't mad, it was with the Caddy CTS rental car he had on a recent road trip. Holley gaskets are discussed and displayed, and Chris talks about his snowblower carb issue and how he found a rare sticker for his Chrysler 300. Electronic parking brakes and the pains of working on a Volvo round out the show.

A great websitecar article is talked about, which turns the talk to vehicle cost per year. Chris is on the hunt for a trunk release button & Ray was gifted a cool John Lennon drawing. Ray gifts a floor jack to DJ Rob, then Chris launches into a tyrade against his leaky Holley carburetor. The science and beauty behind making new hard lines wraps up the hour.

Ray breaks the news about a fly-and-buy car hunting trip he's taking to Indianapolis which raises all sorts of questions from Chris. A caller asks about the possible pitfalls associated with buying a late model T-Bird, which leads guest Carl Anthony to talk about older collectible cars, as well as the fastest production cars. Carl takes the boys down the musical wormhole after Ray samples a 60's controversial radio earworm.

With temps in the single digits what repair does Ray opt to do,cooling system maintenance of course! Then it's out with the old and in with thenew when a Black Beauty C4 Corvette comes to the shop. The difference in cars with the same engine are talked about as well as what it's like to drivea Hot Rod street car as opposed to a Brooklyn cruiser like Chris championed.

Radio Royalty from our station calls to ask why his 2003 Grand Marquis has a pesky no-start condition and the boys flesh it out. Diagnostic guru Joe D. makes a command appearance at the shop to help Ray get a hold of the Corvette's digitals, which turns into a lesson in broken bolt removal. MatcoMan Brian offers valuable tool advice.

Crappy caller phone connections aside, this week the boys talk about the art behind engine piston technology and design. Long Island & Brooklyn's rich history in automotive, motorcycle and music lead to some interesting triviadiscussion, then the voltage spikes when ray laments about Interstate battery failures.The C4 Corvette IAC valve and a PCV failure leads to talk about aftermarket parts quality.
