The FLOT Line Show

Rick Hughes Ministries

Welcome to The FLOT Line, with your host, Rick Hughes. For the next 30 minutes, you will be inspired, motivated, and educated, but never manipulated. FLOT is an acronym for Forward Line of Troops. The show teaches principles from the Bible and focuses on God’s 10 unique problem-solving devices. If you choose to learn and apply them, they will act as a main line of resistance in your soul, a FLOT line, preventing the outside sources of adversity from becoming the inside pressure of stress in your soul. The intent is to give you information to help you identify the plan of God for your life.

  • 1546 - Hell, Part 1 (2014)

Hell is real. Hell is a holding place for those who chose to reject Jesus Christ as their Savior—the unbelievers, the unrighteous. “He that knew no sin was made sin for us that we may be made the righteousness of God through Him” (2 Cor 5:21). Hell is the place where they await the Great White Throne of Judgment before being cast into the Lake of Fire. Hell was prepared for Satan and his angels, not us. “God is not willing that any should perish” (2 Pet 3:9). If you want to avoid the Lake of Fire, then “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom 10:13).

  • 1545 - Faith Rest (2014)

“Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Rom 10:17). To have faith-rest you need to know God’s Word. For faith to have muscles, you must grow spiritually. The faith-rest drill is putting your adversity in God’s hands and standing still. “Stand still and watch what God is about to do” (Ex 14:13). The strength of the Christian life is standing still in God’s grace provisions, mixing God’s promises with faith. Rest in the Lord. He will provide for you. “Come unto Me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest” (Matt 11:28).

  • 1544 - Filling of the Holy Spirit (2014)

The Filling of the Holy Spirit maintains fellowship with God. When you sin you break fellowship with God and that’s why problem-solving device number one, the rebound technique, is so critical to living the Christian way of life. You can’t live it in the power of the flesh, controlled by the sin nature. The only way to live the supernatural Christian life is with the supernatural resources of the empowerment of the filling of the Holy Spirit and the living Word of God in your soul. “The Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and He will bring them to your remembrance whatever I have said unto you” (John 14:26). All teaching must be metabolized by the mentorship of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit needs to be in control for you to execute your spiritual life. When the Holy Spirit controls your life, God can use you in spite of your abilities or inabilities. The Holy Spirit makes intercessions on your behalf. “The Holy Spirit helps our infirmities for we don’t even know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Holy Spirit Himself makes intercession for us” (Rom 8:26).

  • 1543 - Rebound Review (2014)

Allowing your sin nature to control your life disqualifies you for service in God’s plan. Your Christian life ceases with unconfessed sin because you’ve quenched the Holy Spirit. You need the power of the Holy Spirit to live the supernatural Christian way of life. Using rebound resolves the problem of sin and restores you to fellowship with God. “If we confess [name] our sin [through silent prayer] He is faithful and just to forgive us and to purify us from all wrongdoing” (1 John 1:9). Simply put, when you bounce out of fellowship with God by committing sin—something you think, say or do—you bounce back by confessing your sin. That's using rebound, God's problem-solving device number one.

  • 1542 - Judge Not (2024)

The Bible says not to judge. Judging is a sin and brings the consequences of divine discipline. “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured back to you” (Matt 7:1-2). Do not stick your nose where it doesn’t belong. This may be why you’re suffering. Judging prevents you from advancing in the plan of God. The failures of others are the Lord’s business, not yours. “He who guards his mouth and his tongue, guards his soul from troubles” (Prov 21:23).
