John was sent to prepare the way for the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. He called people to confess their sins and repent and baptized them in the waters of the Jordan river. In the last two chapters of Matthew’s Gospel, we read about the genealogy, the circumstances, and the significance of the birth of Jesus Christ. In this episode, we start with chapter 3 which talks about the forerunner, or the messenger who was to prepare the way of the Messiah. Similar to the prophecy and divine interventions in Jesus’ birth, the birth of this messenger was also foretold by prophets and angels. Join us to learn more about this important person.

We learnt about the author, his literary style and also a bit about the outline of the book. Today we will start reading from Chapter 1. It speaks about the genealogy of Jesus. Now this might seem like a boring piece of information that most of us have skipped. Please hold on. There is much more to this than what meets the eye. It gives us great joy to be a part of God's great big family and to read and learn from His word together. We are going to study the Gospel of Matthew. Gospel, as we all know, means Good news. This book is God reconnecting with man after about 400 years of silence after the time of Malachi. Matthew is the first book of the New Testament and one of the 4 gospels written. Matthew was a tax collector and renounced his worldly ways to follow Jesus. He was an educated Jew and this book is written for the Jews who were aware of the Old Testament prophecies. Let us stay tuned to learn more of what this book has to say about the life and times of the people who waited for the Messiah.

Welcome to the Agape Fellowship where we undertake verse by verse study of the scriptures. In today’s episode, we begin our study from Habakkuk chapter 3 and verse 17 to the close of the book. The prophet Habakkuk at the end of his book teaches us that we are able to praise God regardless of fearful and hopeless circumstances because of the assurance we have in an Almighty GOD. Today we will learn from Habakkuk how we are able to maintain our faith in God even when we know that difficult times are ahead of us. Be blessed as we learn from His Word.

Today we will start to cover the 3rd and final chapter of the book of Habakkuk. When we began our journey through the book, we saw the prophet’s questions to God concerning what was happening around him. Questions like: Why do the righteous suffer and why does God appear to be silent. However, when God responded saying judgement is coming, it was not in line with what Habakkuk had hoped and yet God teaches him that through such trying times that righteous shall live by faith. As we continue on in our study today, we will draw on the eternal principles of God who in His sovereignty ultimately accomplishes that which is good, just as He is good. Today we will learn that the judgements of God are in keeping with His mercies. Be blessed as you learn from His Word!

Welcome to the Agape fellowship, where we undertake a verse by verse study of the scriptures. We are so glad that you could join us. We have been learning from the book of Habakkuk and in our last installment we see God teaching Habakkuk that the righteous shall live by faith. The Bible in Hebrews 11, the famous chapter on faith, in verse 1 tells us what faith is. It reads: Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. The same chapter again in verse 6 reads: Without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. Today we continue on from Habakkuk chapter 2 and we will also look more into what it means when God says: The just shall live by faith. May God bless you richly as you study His Word with us.

Last time, we covered the first 3 verses of Habakkuk chapter 2, we learned that God’s Word once spoken is an absolute Word and that His timetable is not like man’s. Furthermore, Habakkuk modeled for us the proper way in which to wait for what God says. Today we hear what God responds to Habakkuk’s deep anguish at God’s revelation of the coming judgment on the Kingdom of Judah. We pray God’s blessing upon you as you study His Word with us.

Last time, as we studied from the first chapter of Habakkuk, we saw a dialogue between prophet Habakkuk and God. We considered the two questions that Habakkuk posed to God and we were able to see from God’s response to Habakkuk’s first question that He is absolutely sovereign and He umpires the affairs of men and nations. Today we continue on from Habakkuk chapter 2 and we join Habakkuk as he waits for the Lord’s response to his second question. Be blessed as you hear today's meditation.

Previously, we were faced with prophet Habakkuk’s bewilderment when God tells him that He was bringing the violent Babylonians to judge the sinful kingdom of Judah. We were left dealing with the question whether a Holy God could use an evil nation as an instrument of His justice. Today we will begin our journey with this question and as we conclude chapter 1, we will have a chance to see what this means for us personally. Be blessed as you listen to today’s meditation.

Last time, we started on a journey with the prophet Habakkuk who, on seeing injustice, violence, and destruction all around him in Judah, asking God with desperate groaning why it was so and why God was not doing something about it. The scriptures in Isaiah 66 vs 1 and 2 reads: Thus says the Lord: “Heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool: what is the house that you would build for me and what is the place of my rest? All these things my hand has made and so all these things came to be, declares the Lord. But this is to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word. How precious a privilege it is for us to study God’s word and let us, like Mary who sat at Jesus’ feet, pay close heed to what the Lord is teaching us from His Word.
