- 81 - Episode 76: Contact Lens Clarity - The Murder of Janet Abaroa
Wearing glasses or contact lenses is a pretty normal thing for lots of visually impared people around the globe, but little did the family of Janet Abaroa know that her contacts would lead to the arrest of her murderer almost 10 years after her unfortunate death.
Janet and her husband Raven seemed to be the perfect couple to all their family and friends, but 7 years into their relationship and only a few years into marriage, Raven would get "the itch" and cheat on his unsuspecting wife. Shortly after revealing his infidelity, Janet would find out she was pregnant with a baby boy, and Raven promised to do everything in his power to change and become a better husband and father.
On the evening of April 26, 2005 Raven decided he would leave his wife and 6 month old son at home to go to the fields to play soccer, but would return home a few hours later to his wife's lifeless body. Listen to Sam tell the sad story of the loss of Janet and the insane years after her death that left her family with so many questions.

Have you ever had the overwhelming urge to creep around a neighborhood at night, break into someone's home, and physically assault them to the point of death? Yeah, no... Me neither.
Linwood Earl Forte's childhood was definitely not ideal, and ultimately his environment shaped him into a very terrible person, whose desires, no matter how depraved they were, became amped up while he was using drugs.
Linwood would prey on elderly women hidden by the darkness of the early morning hours, and take advantage of them when they least expected it. Listen as Tiffany tells his twisted story that will leave you with so many questions, but more than likely the main one of... Why?

Do you think someone can be born evil, or do you think someone's heinous actions are a result of their upbringing and childhood experience? This is a hot topic of discussion this week with Sam's coverage of the notorious Donald "Pee Wee" Gaskins, who ultimately is known by his nickname Pee Wee, due to his small stature.
Pee Wee had a very rough childhood which included lots of sexual assault, mistreatment, joining a gang when he was an adolescent, and overall negative life experiences that more than likely made him turn to a life of crime at the very young age of 11. Unfortunately Pee Wee was triggered easily by people's comments on his appearance, so he would never have a chance to calm his temper and try to become a better person. It seems like evil was in his blood and there was no turning back, therefore he was also known as the Meanest Man in America.
Listen to our second heavy hitter from South Carolina, where Sam talks us through Pee Wee's life and death and all of the unfortunate victims he claimed throughout.

Have you ever had a gut feeling that someone was following you or watching you perform your usual daily tasks of life? Unfortunately for the two victims highlighted in our case this week, they did not have that feeling.
Maybe 17-year-old Shari Faye Smith was just riding the high of excitement with her impending high school graduation, and was too focused on the next chapter of her life to notice that someone followed her to her home, her safe space, to invade her personal privacy.
Maybe 9-year-old Debra Helmick was too busy playing pretend with her 3-year-old brother in her front yard right outside a window to notice the silver car stalking them.
This week we bring you the case of the notorious Larry Gene Bell, a South Carolina murderer who doesn't even need to be name dropped for locals to know who you are talking about. Listen to Tiffany and Sam discuss his evil plot to disrupt the lives of the Smith and Helmick family by abducting and murdering their sweet, bright blue-eyed, blonde daughters in the daytime hours for everyone to see.
This case has been a long time coming, so let us know what you think, did we do it justice?

Have you ever heard a strange noise in your home, or started missing items that you can never seem to find? Was your first thought that there might be a stranger in your home, maybe a ghost, or did you just think it was the house settling and absent mindedness that led you to these questions?
This week, Sam and Tiffany will be discussing a case that will make you start paying more attention to the items in your home and the possibility of the noise not just being the house settling.
A young UNC-Greensboro college student, Maddie, would be faced with the same questions when her personal items started to go missing and handprints started appearing in her bathroom. All her questions would be answered, and the truth would be more terrifying than the ghost story she had created in her head.
Be sure not to miss this week’s episode and tell us what you think! Do you think the punishment fits the crime? Would you have done what Maddie did? Send us an email or message and let us know what you think you would do if you were in Maddie’s shoes.

GREER: Co-workers remember woman found dead in her home (wyff4.com)Sun, 24 Dec 2023 - 72 - Episode 69: 1990s Hate Crime - The Brutal Death of Talana Kreeger
Being a part of the LGBTQ+ community is challenging to say the least in 2023, however the members of the community found it hard to even celebrate the loss of a life in their community without fear of being targeted by gathering at a local church in early 1990.
Talana Quay Kreeger was a wonderful woman who would essentially give you the shirt off her back if you needed it and her brutal death would spark fire amongst her community in February of 1990. Listen to Tiffany tell you her story, one of the most brutal cases we have covered to date on our podcast, of a gay woman enjoying a nice night out at a local lesbian bar that would go horribly wrong and cause Talana to lose her life due to a hate crime.
No one deserves to lose their life due to someone not agreeing with your lifestyle or who you love. Although the notorious Murdaugh family was known for all of the negative media presence within the last few years, Paul and Maggie Murdaugh were people too. Both Paul and his mother Maggie would tragically lose their lives to multiple gunshot wounds on their own property while it was alleged that Alex Murdaugh was visiting with his mother and father.
Maggie was an extremely driven and honest woman who would cross paths with Alex at the University of South Carolina, and their marriage would eventually follow producing two children, Buster and Paul. They would go on to build their legacy for many years without issue, until three mysterious deaths would occur, all of which would mention the Murdaugh name, and then would follow the tragic double homicide of two of their own.
Listen to Tiffany tell Sam the tale of the loss of Paul and Maggie and you tell us.... Do you think Alex Murdaugh is responsible, or was it all a set up of some sort?

Gloria Satterfield was a devoted Mother, friend, wife, sister, and house keeper for the notorious Murdaugh family for nearly 20 years.
On the morning of February 2, 2018 Gloria would arrive to work around 8:30am with her purse on her shoulder and bag of breakfast in her hand. She would proceed up the steps to enter the Murdaugh home to either pick up a paycheck or start work (depending on the sources you read), however she would be "tripped up" by the four family dogs and would fall back to crack her skull open on the brick steps of the home.
Nearly 24 days of surgeries, being resuscitated after a heart attack, and eventually falling into a deep coma, 57 year-old Gloria would not make it home to recover and would sadly pass away in the hospital on February 26, 2018.
According to Maggie and Paul Murdaugh, they were sleeping at the time of the incident and they rushed outside to call 911 in hopes that her life would be saved, however listening to the call.... we've got some questions.
Listen to our second installment of our series into the Murdaugh murders and learn along with us how their 'dynasty' would crumble. Tiffany and Sam discuss Gloria's injuries, that would require life-saving surgery, the tone of Paul on the infamous 911 call, and the rumor that started floating around boasting that Maggie's new nickname was 'Maggie Murder'.
Did Gloria truly get tripped up by the family dogs, or was this all a plot to cover up Alex Murdaugh's opioid addiction? Let us know your thoughts...

Lesley Eugene Warren was a young man with a charming personality and a baby face to give him a trustworthy and innocent appearance on the outside, but internally he was a man who had dark and intrusive thoughts that he would eventually give in to.
We all have probably experienced somewhat of a rough childhood, but Lesley grew up with abuse from his alcoholic father from birth, and then once the divorce was final, his Dad would ignore him if they passed each other in public and after his mother got remarried, he was shipped off to live with his Grandparents. Lesley would go on a killing spree claiming the lives of at least 4 innocent young women, and police believe his victim count would be more realistically in the 8-10 range.

Over the road truck drivers must have the best job in the world, right? The freedom to almost operate in silence with little to no oversight from their boss, a feeling of unaccountability, and posessing the power to care so little about anyone other than themselves while on the road.
Personally, Tiffany could not work this job long term, but she does tell you about a man who did, and abused the power, this week; his name is Sean Patrick Goble.
Feeling like he was a ladies man who could get whatever he wanted, Sean drove through three states more often than any other: North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, and he would find a few spots along the interstate to dump some precious cargo. Unfortunately that cargo would be the bodies of three victims that he brutally strangled.
Listen to his twisted tale unfold, and learn about a man who can't even pronounce his own first name right. Okay SEEN.

everithing2.comSun, 29 Jan 2023 - 53 - Episode 50: Special - A Tale From Both Carolinas
This week we have finally hit our first big episode milestone of 50, and we’ve decided to cover one case each; Sam’s from South Carolina, and Tiffany’s from North Carolina. Please excuse our one-off sound quality due to the fact that Tiffany can’t stop tripping over her own feet. HAH
Sam starts us out this week talking about how a mother is supposed to be a natural protector. Someone a child can trust and count on to do everything in their power to make sure the evil of this world does not touch them. Unfortunately, this was not the mother Alana Westbury is or pretended to be. Listen to the us discuss a mother who would allow and benefit from John Williams doing unthinkable things to Alana’s daughter, leading to charges of trafficking and criminal sexual conduct with a child under the age of 10.
If you know someone that is or is potentially trafficking and need to speak to someone, you can call the Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888, or you can text HELP to 233-733, & you can chat with someone live at www.humantraffickinghotline.org/chat
Tiffany finishes out the episode discussing a man that was severely affected by not only mental health issues but also alcohol abuse, which made him “dually diagnosed”. Phillip Lee Ingles got into an argument with his elderly grandmother and just a few short weeks after the incident, he would snap and do the unthinkable. Two elderly couples would be ambushed and beaten to death, and Phillip would go on to tell a few friends about what he had done. Later after his conviction, he would give up any chance of appeals so the family could have some peace and closure. Okay, cool dude, thanks so much for that.
We hope y’all enjoy the big EPISODE 50, and next week we will resume our normal format.

The Holidays can be a fun but hectic time of year where families rush around to participate in fun activities, like watching a tree lighting, seeing Christmas lights, visiting with Santa, and picking out the perfect real Christmas tree from a family farm.
The Hudler family owned and operated a very Nationally successful Christmas Tree farm between the three states of North Carolina, Virgina, and Michigan. It was no secret that the Hudler family was successful in their endeavors, but unfortunately their success, mainly the owner and operator of the farm, Ron Hudler, was known by a man who would take advantage of it.
Through a botched robbery, three men would lose their lives all for $10,000. Who was the man that committed the murders, you ask? Well, he was lurking closer to the family than you might think.
We hope all of our listeners enjoy this twisted case, and enjoy your holiday season.
Merry Christmas Eve to all who celebrate, and we will have one final episode to close out the year of 2022.

We think all of our listeners know by now, 44 episodes in, that Sam and Tiffany are mothers who love their sons fiercely, but this week Tiffany brings a case where the mother of an 18-month-old child doesn't seem too concerned with the fact that he has been missing for over a month.
Amir Jennings would be seen for the very last time by his grandmother and on the cctv footage of a local bank, and then he would vanish almost without a trace. His 22-year-old mother Zinah Jennings would allegedly prevent Amir's father from spending time with him on Thanksgiving weekend of 2011, and then after a hit and run incident in December, would be brought into custody for evading and lying to police.
Tiffany brings us through a twisted and upsetting timeline of events that results in many questions surrounding Amir's whereabouts. Listen in and tell us your opinion on his case, and of course, spread the word of little Mir Mir's tragic story.

myhorrynews.comSat, 19 Nov 2022 - 43 - Episode 40: Parricide - The Senseless Murders of Jim and Alison Sapikowski
I think we can all agree that everyone goes through their angsty teen phase where they don’t want to listen to their parents and want to operate to the beat of their own drum, but for 16-year-old Adam Sapikowski, the beat of his drum was a little off.
Adam was the son of his extremely successful parents Jim and Alison Sapikowski and lived a life of “If I want it, I get it” which was in direct result of his parent’s business. The family lived in a 5,000 sq ft home worth an upwards of $680,000 back in 2005, and he attended Durham Academy, which at the time cost $16,000 per year per student. Adam drove a brand-new Chevy Tahoe and had access to his parent’s line of credit somewhere around $48,000 at any given time.
Adam and the rest of the Sapikowski children were set up for success and lived in a loving home environment, so when Adam’s grades started to slip and Prom was approaching rapidly, his parents wouldn’t allow him to get his way unless they saw improvement. Just two nights before his Prom, Adam would allegedly get into a verbal argument with his father Jim and it would have a deadly conclusion.
Listen to Tiffany tell Sam about the curious tale of a teenager gone rogue over a seemingly small disagreement that just may have been avoided if only Adam got help for his mental health.

In the same year that Lee Roy Martin was on his rampage, another serial killer would be born in Maryland by the name of Patrick Tracy Burris.
Little did the small town of Gaffney, South Carolina know that just 41 years after Martin's murders, another serial killer would take the lives of five innocent victims in just 6 short days in 2009.
Did he desperately need to fuel his kleptomania, or did he despise members of the church so much that he felt the need to target them?
Unfortunately we may never know because Patrick's life ended in a fury of bullets at the sight of an abandoned house in Mooresville, North Carolina when law enforcement responded to a call detailing an active burglary.
Listen to Tiffany tell the horrific story of loss that occurred in the small town of Gaffney, SC, and you tell us... What was Patrick's motive?

June 6, 1993 is a day that the small town of Windsor, North Carolina will never forget. With just under 2000 people in the 90s, Windsor was known for being a quiet and safe place with a very low crime rate. Unfortunately, that would change with the closing staff of the local Be-Lo Grocery Store that Sunday evening.
A man hid somewhere inside the store, and sprang on the store manager after he locked the doors, demanding all the money be put into a plastic grocery bag. He would then escort all of the staff to the back of the store, tie them up, and the slaying would begin.
Fortunately there were survivors that would go on to give police a description of the man, and a sketch would be distributed out to the public.
29 years later, and this case is still unsolved, and the gunman's identity remains a mystery.
Will we ever know the man behind the murders that took place in this tiny town?
If you have information about this case, call the Windsor
Police Department (252) 794-3111 and if you have

Susie Newsom Lynch was a gorgeous and intelligent young woman born into one of the most respected families in North Carolina, the Sharp family. Her aunt, Judge Susan M. Sharp, was one of the most respected women in America at the time holding the seat of Head of the State Supreme Court, and partially due to her aunt’s status, Susie felt like she was a princess and should be treated like royalty.
She would meet her prince charming while she was in college, Tom Lynch, and they would soon marry and have two sons together, John and Jim. The family would move to Albuquerque, New Mexico and Susie quickly decided that it was not where she wanted to stay and raise her family. She felt like the town they were living in was culture-less and the locals refused to feed into her princess mentality, so Susie knew she had to get out.
She whisked her children away back to North Carolina and decided a quick phone call to Tom to let him know that she would not be coming back, and neither would the boys. Then ensued a nasty custody battle that would end in bloodshed from both sides of the family.
Susie would reconnect with her first-cousin, Fritz Klenner Jr, and they would become lovers with a vendetta to keep their families out of their personal lives.
Tensions would rise, and result in a gruesome finale that no one was expecting, including Susie herself. More than 30 years later, residents and Tom Lynch, Susie’s ex-husband, still wonder why everything had to end in a fiery blaze like it did, and their heart still aches for those that had to suffer with their lives.

Last week we discussed the MacDonald Triad, which is a set of three factors that may help predict behavior associated with serial offenses, such as serial murders.
Todd Kohlhepp may not hit all three factors, however he was known to suffer from abuse in his childhood, poisoned his goldfish in bleach during an experiment, and was a bully at a very early age in school where he was involved in a very scary incident on the school bus.
A few years later, after escaping his step-father and mother and going to live with his biological father, he would take a 14 year-old girl from her home and sexually assault her. This would earn him 14 years in prison, and at the age of 30 he was set free to go about his life and register as a sex offender.

Kyle Fleischmann was a hard-working 24-year-old college grad who was exceptionally close with his family. The Fleischmanns moved to Charlotte in 2000 because Dick and Barbara felt like it would be a great place to raise their three children. Little did they know that in just a few short years, just hearing the word Charlotte would make them sick to their stomachs.
On the night of November 9, 2007, Kyle, his sister Noelle, mother Barbara, and best friend Dan would venture downtown to see a Dane Cook comedy show.
Kyle and Dan knew their night wasn't over at 10pm, so they decided to part ways with Kyle's Mom and sister and hang out at a local bar called the Buckhead Saloon. Nearing 1am, Dan knew he had to be up for work early the next morning, so he closed his tab and asked Kyle if he was heading out too, but Kyle, being single at the time, decided to stay out for more drinks.
The following morning, Kyle would not show up for work, and any attempts to contact him through his cell phone led straight to voicemail, so everyone began to worry.
Police would follow his trail of surveillance footage and phone records, but hit a dead end and 15 years later, there is still not a single trace of Kyle.
How could a 6-foot tall, 180-pound young man just vanish into thin air?

Hiking the beautiful trails of the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina can be quite calming and make you one with nature, but for the unsuspecting victims of Gary Michael Hilton, who would later be named the National Forest Serial Killer, was anything but a serene experience.
Across three states, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, multiple victims would succumb to his gruesome murders. Gary's childhood was a little rough, and many believe this would condition him to become the monster he was as an adult in addition to the life of crime he led before committing his first offense.
He took the innocent lives of Miami native 26 year old Rossana Miliani, a couple in their 80's Irene and John Bryant in NC, as well as RN and avid church goer Cheryl Dunlap, and University of Georgia graduate Meredith Emerson in the Georgia mountains.
Despite being stopped by law enforcement multiple times, there was no rule in place to check the federal database for past offences, so he got away every single time, ready to set his sights on another victim.
Mental health, especially for men in the US is a huge stigma, so we are left wondering if maybe he got a little more help, none of these murders would have happened. Or... maybe he really was just a monster.
Listen to Tiffany tell his gruesome story this week and you be the judge...

In 2018, Bowen Turner from Orangeburg, South Carolina would be accused of raping two young women and in 2019, Bowen would be accused of rape once again. This would spark outrage in the community but not for the victims, instead it was for the accused because Bowen comes from a prominent family in Orangeburg.
Bowen would attack his first victim early in 2018 and a short six months later, he would allegedly assault Dallas Stoller at a house party. Dallas would endure the wrath of the community’s anger towards her for naming Bowen as her attacker. Her story is devastating and does not end they way you would hope.
Chloe Bess is the last victim of Bowen’s, and her assault has many similarities to Dallas’s story. Chloe would also be attacked at a house party in June of 2019 and would also name Bowen as her attacker but did his victims get justice?
Bowen would allude a trial and barely get a slap on the wrist. How can an alleged serial rapist not wind up in prison? How is he still on the streets? Listen to Sam tell the story of a grave misjustice happening in Orangeburg South Carolina and we will leave it to you to decide if you think if Bowen Turner is a privileged serial rapist.

In the early hours of a September morning, James Mahoney's life would take a sharp left turn because of a man who could not control his addictive behavior.
Richard Bernard Moore was an addict who needed his next fix and decided James at Nikki's Speedy Mart would be his target. He made it out with a measly $1408 while leaving James' lifeless body on the ground, but quickly found his way into police custody and confessing to everything.
After his two-part trial, he was sentenced to death but aggressively started the appeals process soon after. Dick is finally scheduled for execution for the 4th time over the last 20 years, and his will be the first to happen since 2011.
South Carolina just passed a law in 2021 allowing inmates to choose between the electric chair, lethal injection, or a firing squad, however the last dose of lethal drugs in the state expired in 2013. So just this past Good Friday, Richard went with the new method of execution, firing squad.
He is sentenced to die on April 29th, 2022 if his stay of execution request is denied, so now we all eagerly await to see if he will be the first man since 2010 to go out by a bullet.

Henry Louis Wallace, aka the Taco Bell Strangler is a ruthless serial killer who was born in Barnwell, SC but reigned terror in East Charlotte, North Carolina.
Meticulous and intelligent, this true piece of human garbage stole the lives of multiple black women between 1992 and 1994.
His first victim was Caroline Love, but law enforcement officers wouldn't find out that he was responsible until more than two years after she went missing.
Months later, a very determined college student and Taco Bell employee Shawna Hawk would be found strangled in her own home by her boyfriend Darryl.
Henry didn't stop there, and would also claim the lives of another Taco Bell employee, 24 year old Audrey Spain, 19 year old college student Valencia Jumper, 20 year old mother Michelle Stinson, new mother Vanessa Mack, Bojangles Assistant Manager Betty Baucom, and another new mother 19 year old Brandi Henderson.
Are all of Wallace's victims connected, or did Henry fit the description of the newly coined term "Serial Killer", by only killing strangers?
The first part describes most of his murders, and it will leave you with too many questions.

Stacy Renee Lester went to Toumey Regional Medical Center for a routine CT scan August 9, 2009. Conflicting stories say she was either waiting on someone to pick her up after her procedure or that she decided to walk to another area near the hospital, and that is when she vanished. A Facebook page named "Help Find Stacy Renee Lester" was established by her Mother Ruby Lester to help gather any information regarding her disappearance.
Brandon "Peanut" Rodrigues Graves was last seen leaving Sebastian's Nightlife Nightclub on the evening of January 30, 2010.
