This week we decided to get together early due to the recent passing of icon, Toby Keith. We cover a small piece of his rise to superstardom, as well as, small details/stories that helped mold him into the Hall of Famer that he turned out to be. We met up this week to discuss the Elle King concert in Glasgow, KY that Jordan and his wife attended. This was the second show they seen Elle perform. This week, by request, we finally get back in the studio to put a spotlight on the best voice in the country music industry; Chris Stapleton. Chris’ voice has all the sound and soul of a blues crooner with all of the texture of a country dynamo. Personally, I would put him up against any other voice to battle it out. We discuss the recent problems with concert tickets prices and other recent topics. We go through Chris’ career, as well as, his early life, and his personal life. He has definitely earned every ounce of success he has! Since 2001, he has dedicated his life to this musical journey. After his bluegrass band, his southern rock band, and after meeting his beautiful wife, Morgane, his career finally started to reach the pinnacles that are all too obvious now. His performances are always crowd pleasing, but(Jordan’s opinion) if you truly want to hear that special sound that can never be duplicated by a mortal man, a duet with his wife Morgane… that is worth the price of admission. The prettier half of this power couple sure did overcome a ton of adversity on her way to the top. Tammy dealt with the glass ceiling that still keeps women from the top today, but finessed the situation as well as one possibly could. The guys discuss the hurdles that female artists have to go through, as well as, the state of present day country music. “Stand By Your Man” was realized, rearranged, and released all within the time period of this episode. Billy left his Michigan roots and has exploded onto the country, folk, and bluegrass scene. Taught by his step-dad, he took to stringed instruments like a fish to water. One of the most underrated artists in country music history, Tracy Lawrence, is this week’s spotlighted artist. Before diving into all things Tracy Lawrence, we daydream about winning the Powerball. After starting a dream of his own in 1990, Lawrence solidified his place in country music lore one album/song at a time. As time marches on, we are constantly reminded of the influence and direct impact his chart toppers made on the genre’s history. His trademark hair and mustache drove the women crazy in his hay day and his unique voice delighted country music fans for years on the airwaves. Lawrence battled turmoil and strife his entire career but somehow is still today performing and drawing crowds. This legend will live on forever in his art and should find his way into the hallowed Country Music Hall of Fame one of these days(in our opinion). This week Ryan and Jordan unpack the life and career of a Legend. From deep in the Eastern Kentucky mountains, Whitley exploded onto the scene packing his one of a kind gorgeous voice. Keith was one of the only dudes with a perm that could make it to legend status. 34 years wasn’t enough, but that’s all we got. Alcoholism took his life WAY too early! Still to this day, we hear the music that he graced our ears with. This haunted man showed you just how sad and devoted he was in every verse he wrote and sang. With wife, Lorrie Morgan, he found a love that he feared losing. Keith Whitley is the artist that other artists look up to. There will never be another quite like him.
