    MEXICAN PUNK ROCK.CHAPTER 40.

    INTRODUCTION

In the United Kingdom, a Punk Rock protest movement took place in the late 70's. The group that would start this discontent was the Sex Pistolos. Bands such as: The Clash, The Expoited and the Dead Kennedys would also join.

    USA PUNK ROCK

Thanks to the number of groups that the punk movement encompassed, the United States also experienced this social distrust, one about the economy and the role of the government. In those years they were like the Ramones, Blondie, Rancid, Bad Religion, among others.

    MEXICAN PUNK

The Mexican public wanted to seek their national identity through music, as they did at the Avandaro Festival, they wanted to go even further. Various rock critics found bands like Size, Dangerous Rhytm and Rebel D'Punk.

Punk arrived in Mexico in the late 70s and early 80s, inspired by British and American bands like The Clash, Sex Pistols and Ramones. In a context marked by political repression and social inequality, young Mexicans found in punk a way to rebel against the system.

Pioneering bands like Dangerous Rhythm and Size were some of the first to adopt this style, fusing punk with elements of new wave. These bands laid the foundation for what would become a thriving underground scene. Through performances in small bars and alternative spaces, they began to build a community of dedicated fans.

MEXICAN PUNK TODAY: RESISTANCE AND REBIRTH

Today, Mexican punk remains a relevant force in the country's music and culture. Bands like Acidez, Vantroi, and Los Viejos keep the flame of classic punk alive with their energetic performances and committed lyrics. At the same time, new artists and collectives are using punk as a platform to address contemporary issues such as feminism and human rights.

    CONCLUSION

Mexican punk has come a long way since its beginnings in the 80s. What began as a small subculture has grown and evolved, influenced by various genres and sociopolitical contexts. Over the decades, punk has proven to be a powerful voice for Mexican youth, a tool of resistance, and a space for creativity and individual expression. Mexican punk continues to resonate with its message of nonconformity and hope, demonstrating that its rebellious spirit is far from extinguished.

  • 40 - CHAPTER 38. GRUNGE AND PROGRESSIVE ROCK.

    RESEARCH BY DANIEL SCHIFTER

    SUMMARY

Hello, how are you friends? This is Daniel Schifter, music critic.

The other time I was seeing a writing regarding the death of Kurt Kobain and a note that I saw regarding when Pink Floyd played in Mexico April 9 and 10, 1994, at the Hermanos Rodríguez Auditorium.

April 5, 1994, Death of Kurt Kobain.

Hello, how are you, friend? How are you, this is Daniel Schifter speaking to you. The other time, I was looking at a note regarding what happened, one that is grunge and progressive rock.

    GRUNGE

Kurt Kobain was a founding member of the band Nirvana.

Grunge, as few know, was born from musical styles such as hadrock, noise rock, punk rock, in Seattle, Washington.

On April 5, 1994, Kurt Kobain's body was found in his own house. Years ago it was already known that Kurt had stomach problems.

Grunge emerged in the late 1980s in Seattle Washington.

This word grunge is an English term referring to the term dirty.

The lyrics were very direct with a social touch. We must not forget, within that movement were: Peal Jeam, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots.

We found in various sources of information that the lyrics of musical styles addressed dark themes having a connection with anguish and hopelessness.

At the end of the 90s, other bands would come like: Bush, Creed, they would take up the term grunge but with another style called Post-Grunge.

    PROGRESSIVE ROCK

Progressive rock is music with psychedelic overtones with influences from classical music. One of the first bands was Pink Floyd. One of his first works was the album,Piper Gates of Down, The Wall, Whish You Where Here. Many people don't know, the group would coin the term Space Rock.

Their songs experimented with planets, accompanied with synthesizers, the guitars sounded with experimental effects and had a connection withscience fiction.

Nobody forgets when they played at the Hermanos Rodríguez Auditorium on the 9th and 10th of 1994, when releasing the album, The Division Bell, 1994.

As you have already seen, Grunge and Progressive Rock are completely opposite genres.
