As I alluded to earlier in my Part 2 notes, this final section is a wild ride! I basically was just like, "f-ck it" and threw whatever I was feeling in the moment against the wall. (especially the last 25-minutes!!)... of course, this usually makes for the best moments.There are quite a few classics in here - "Charlie Brown" (Dave Audé's Coldplay remix), "Heartbreaker/If You Should Ever Be Lonely" (Junior's full 10+ minute anthem!), my own remixes of "Pink Pony Club" (Chappell Roan) and "Love Lift Me Up" (Debby Holiday), and (if you know me) my trademark homage to Hex Hector with his (full-length!) remix of Faith Hill's "Breathe."You'll either love these 80-minutes of music... or wonder "WTF was he thinking?!" ... either way, it's pure me.

Welcome to Part 2 of my tea dance set from the world-famous Boatslip in Provincetown over 4th of July week 2024. This is the peak half, just as the dance floor filled up and the party was in full swing. For my true house heads, the second half of this set (from Chappell Road onward) might not be your cup of tea (pun intended!)... but others will absolutely love it. It’s a classic PTown tea dance experience, with a healthy dose of throwbacks. For me - and the dance floor - it was the moment.And yes, I did drop One Direction in this set... and it slayed.As always, I am so grateful to DJ Maryalice for inviting me to play yet another year in what I consider a religious summer experience.But wait… there’s more! It’s been a while since my last podcast, but I’m ready with a new one to kick off the summer. Vol. 14 is a two-hour journey that starts with nu-disco and then builds gradually to a full dance floor house music frenzy - it turns into a groove set in the middle before bringing it back around to some soulful sounds and finally ending with some more chill tech house to wrap up the journey. It’s been a full year since I put out a proper (pre-recorded) podcast (not a live set) — sometimes the process of making these can be taxing and frustrating… I needed a break from putting out podcasts semi-regularly. But I’m feeling inspired to get back to making them now, so this fall my music output is about to get bigger and louder than ever! It’s also been a while since I’ve put out a Big Room podcast and I was ready to create something along the lines of what you’re listening to right now. You’ll hear that my #PugLife sound has changed quite a bit. It’s much more tech-house-centric and more influenced by the DJ/producers I listen to these days. Part 2 of my Sunday Daddy Disco set from BUNKER In Washington DC (Aug. 6th, 2k23)... this was honestly a very difficult set for me to play. It followed a celebration of life for a person who was a member of the BUNKER family; he was a new friend in my life... and someone whose wedding I had played just one year earlier. The doors opened to the public at 9 p.m. when many of his closest friends and loved ones were still gathered. It was very difficult for me to find a balance between getting the party going and thinking about trying to honor his memory. I ended the set on a special somewhat somber note, in tribute to him. I'd like to send special love and appreciation through this set to all of my incredible DC family.

This Pride month, the world is (almost) back! It's Pride weekend in my just-reopened hometown of Los Angeles, and the children... are... living! It’s an amazing feeling for most of the world to be able to dance, rejoice, and celebrate together again. Of course, it’s still not this way for everyone - and this past year has been filled with tremendous pain and loss - and yet, there have been so many silver linings and lessons learned from this pandemic year, along with the realization that tomorrow is not promised to any of us. As many of you know (and probably just as many of you don’t!) outside of my DJ/producer work, I work full-time at one of the largest LGBTQ social justice organizations in the U.S. Pride season is a busy time for us, and for me, it’s not all dance parties and celebrations. Pride was - and must always continue to be - a protest. The roots of our joy are interconnected with the long struggle of the fight for equality - something that so many in the LGBTQ community still have yet to fully achieve. Music is my creative outlet, and this year it’s my joy to share with you Stephen Jusko and I’s new remix of “Stronger” by Sam Feldt feat. Kesha, a track that we're sure will become a pride anthem for us for years to come. With June comes Pride and 2020 is certainly a Pride year for the record books. We’re still living under a global pandemic with all in-person celebrations cancelled. But thankfully, America is finally demanding change against systematic racism through the #BlackLivesMatter movement in a way that we haven’t seen since the 1960s. It’s a powerful moment in history and it leaves me feeling motivated and inspired. Pride is not cancelled, just because large gatherings can’t happen. In times of crisis, it’s so easy to feel overwhelmed and surrounded by fear. I had the honor of DJ'ing and coordinating music online for Out Magazine's 20th anniversary celebration, which took place on October 9th, 2012 at the W Hotel in Hollywood and the experience was an absolute blast.  For anyone who wasn't able to attend, I am posting my live set right here on podomatic. Summer is fading, and fall is upon us. It’s truly my favorite season, as the evenings start to get that first chill in the air. My last podcast intro was very wordy — this one will be much less verbose. In an introspective mood and will let the music speak for itself. It’s been while since I’ve gotten a new podcast out the door – in fact, this is my first of summer 2013. I suppose it’s a blessing that I’ve been working so much (both DJing and in my full-time job as a journalist), that I haven’t really had time to crank ‘em out like I had been a year ago. I’ve been in a weird transition period as a DJ recently in terms of defining my sound. From the first time I finally spun an after hours party last fall, I’m learning that deep down I’m a big room guy – I prefer a more driving and dramatic sound to lighter fare. But I’m not a strictly tribal after-hours guy like Paulo or Abel, or a circuit peak king like Joe Gauthreaux or Danny Verde — I’m not an awesome tea dance master like Wayne G or Grind, or an EDM strictest like Nicky Romero or Alesso (all of whom are some of the DJ’s that I admire the most right now and love to hear out live often). Being the Gemini that I am, I have a really hard time picking one sound and sticking to it. And in that, I’m finding that which truly is my own sound. I love pop music and I love wordless tribal beats, I have gay and straight influences, and I can’t play only male or female vocals (although being gay, I’ve always loved a good screaming diva!). And lord knows, I can’t stick with a decade — you’ll yet again hear at least something in here from each of the past five of ‘em. Through it all, I came of age in New York City, so I’ll always be partial to a classic house 4/4 beat, no matter how it’s dressed up. What you won’t hear are remixes from any of the DJs whom I’ve historically been most influenced by — in the SoundCloud age, all DJs have access to a panoptic of sounds that range from official commissions to tracks put together by a teenager in their mom’s basement. There’s a new guard rising, but top talent always shines through. With the exception of a few songs, many of these remixes are by folks I’ve never used before. This podcast reflects my schizophrenia a bit, and yet I was totally conscious about its bi-polar nature when I was laying it out and recording it. It’s almost like a wedding of my influences – what’s the saying? — Something old, something new … something borrowed, something blue. I decided to start this one out very tribal in the first five tracks to build a foundation, but with a new take on some very classic and recognizable vocals. Then there’s a spurt of some new pop music, before I get into what I think is a very strong section of EDM-light (the type I love). From there I throw in a couple of more pop songs (with EDM-light remixes) before going into a few flashback tracks that you probably haven’t heard out anywhere in quite a while (a trademark of any one of my sets), before ending with five female vocals that have me singing out loud in the shower right now. And as always, my closing track might seem out of left field, but it’s the track I’m most likely to throw on at the end of the night just to make myself smile when I’m in the car driving home alone after a gig that just ended at 4 a.m. Without further delay, please enjoy a selection of tracks that have truly made the middle part of my summer ... Beyond April's Coachella 2013 podcast, it's been two full months since I've finished a 'cast with the tracks that I personally am really feeling the most. Although it's coming at the end of the month -- Memorial Day weekend to be precise -- I'm so excited for this line-up that I literally can't type the text fast enough to get it out. (re-updated, Jan. 2016!) We're midway through summer and it's time for my latest podcast. It's been an amazing past couple of months for me, as I've traveled across the U.S. several times to play everywhere from Pensacola to NYC, New Orleans to Atlanta, and Vegas to Vancouver. If ever one of my podcasts plays like a bell curve, it's this one … a true journey of sound that builds up with a tech house intro, peaks in the middle with a high-energy circuit set, and then slowly cools down with some future house and one of my favorite throwback classics! I'm very excited to present my latest deep house podcast – Deep Spring House, Part 2. I keep getting such great feedback on my deep house projects that I can't help but want to keep going with them. Someone this past weekend told me at LA Pride that it was his "go to music for gettin' it on" – I don't think there's a more flattering compliment. Deep Spring House, Part 2 (it's not officially summer until June 21st… I'm getting this one in just under the wire!), is also the first podcast I've ever created entirely in Ableton. To date, every podcast that I've put out I've recorded live and then edited in GarageBand. I'm curious to hear if it sounds any different. Another June is here and another Pride season is upon us. With the upcoming Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage, it feels like it's going to be an extra special summer. I'm thrilled to be playing Pride events in four cities this summer: my hometown of Los Angeles, my former home of NYC, the ever-hospitable New Orleans, and my Pacific Northwest home (region!) of Vancouver. Genre-wise, this podcast encapsulates a lot of different sounds – like most of my 'casts it's a journey. It's recently come to my attention that a certain group of my friends didn't feel that they could play many of my recent podcasts in certain house party and mixed birthday situations because they've been too circuit-esque in the first hour or so. I almost titled this latest Podcast "Brrrr, it's cold in here…." in honor of my east coast brethren, but let's face it: it's really not that cold in LA… like, ever. I'm back from my whirlwind tour of ski resorts – I've been on the road for the past 5 weekends from Aspen to Park City to Whistler to Tahoe – and I finally had some time to get my latest Podcast recorded. Hello Fellow Music Lovers, It's that time of year again – the holidays. It can be an amazing time to be with family and loved ones, but for many, it can also be a very depressing and trying time of year. I hope that every one of you can use the power of music to try to make it through any tough times you may be experiencing. And also, use music's inherent joy as a tool for celebration. Daylight Saving Time is over and the days are getting shorter. I love the feeling of listening to deep house music as the weather gets cooler. There's something about the cozy feeling of the oncoming winter that just puts me in the best mood. OK, well maybe not so much in LA, but it's nice to think that it's fall most places! I made my first deep house podcast last January, and I've been meaning to make my second one ever since. If I had my druthers, I'd be playing deep at a lot more gigs — I absolutely love this sound so much. It's what I listen to when I'm at home or when I'm feeling meditative when stuck in the car for long rides. Some of these songs are mainstream and some are more underground. Summer is finally here! Pride season is always an exciting time of year to me, but this year I've been feeling an especially strong amount of emotion. I just turned 38 this month, and I think the combination of being firmly in my late-30's now and having just finished riding my 7th AIDS/LifeCycle has got me thinking deeply about a lot of things. I was (as many were) recently moved by the powerful message that the world got from watching HBO's "The Normal Heart." And then again watching HBO's "The Case Against 8" this week, on the eve of the marriage of Jeff Zarrillo and Paul Katami. I feel tremendous change in my approach towards interpersonal relationships right now as well — with an eye out towards both friendships and romantic love... with changing priorities in my life's work. Maybe it's just Mercury in retrograde, but right now I'm just feeling very deeply. I express a lot of that through music. Music is the motivation that keeps me going. Music is the crutch that supports me through long days. Music is the outlet that allows me to vent and to be creative. So with this podcast, I want to celebrate the beauty that exists in loving each other… in finding love in all of its strange forms and remembering what it means to love one another. So, I've wanted to make a deep house podcast for over a year now, but I've always made excuses for not getting around to it. Well, the time's finally arrived! One of the best challenges of being a DJ is experimenting with different genres of music and this is definitely a completely different sound for me. However, it's also a sound that I love listening to so I knew I'd enjoy making it. I wanted to make a mix that you'd play while sitting by the pool, looking out over the Aegean Sea or the Hollywood Hills with a cocktail in your hand and hope in your heart. This is certainly no high-energy gym mix — it's a 180 from everything else on this page (with the exception of my "NYC Made Me Do It" podcast, which has a strong deep house section in it). It's certainly not my best mixing technically, but it's my first time doing a podcast mostly at 124 BPM. For a while towards the top I even experiment with 3 and sometimes 4 tracks playing at once. Still, I'm really happy with how it turned out and I hope you enjoy it as well. My next high energy February podcast should be done in a week. Summer is here and Pride season is in full swing! I am thrilled and honored to be a part of this year’s inaugural UNITE! Music Festival at San Diego Pride; a weekend that’s gearing up to be what feels like is going to be the biggest pride celebration on the west coast this summer. Spring is here again… and with that comes that feeling of new beginnings. I’ve been wanting to put out a new high-energy circuit podcast lately. In just under the wire before the beginning of 2016 is installment #2 of my “4 podcasts in 4 weeks” series – a tech-house podcast. (to be followed soon by my classic house and latest deep house podcasts!) Call this what you will – “actually” a house music podcast, something not purely “techno,” something totally different than the circuit sound I’ve been gravitating towards over the past year, my audition mixtape to finally play next year in Sydney – whatever you want to label it (but I prefer to avoid labels!), I’m thrilled with how this one turned out. Hey All, I’d like to write a very special thank you to everyone who came out for Halloween New Orleans this year. It was truly one of the most amazing nights of my DJ career to date and Saturday night’s “Fall of the Pharaohs” event was definitely one for the record books. I felt like Daft Punk spinning in that pyramid. I don’t always post my sets, but this one I did indeed record. I hope you enjoy re-living the memories from the night… throw it on at the gym and hopefully the gold body paint will practically re-emerge in your sweat. While mine was a warm-up set, Joe Gauthreaux’s set the second half of the night was probably 3 of the best hours of dance music that I’ve ever heard. Every once in a while, I like changing things up. It’s been a couple of months since my last podcast. I took this year off from doing a June pride edition to recover from a car break-in, during which my laptop and bunch of my music were stolen. It sucks that we live in a world where people feel the need to steal, but I justify it by telling myself that they must’ve needed my belongings more than I did. Hey, there’s a silver lining to everything, right? However, I didn’t take June off from making new music. This high-energy mid-summer podcast contains my take on Carly Rae Jepsen’s summer 2017 jam – “Cut To The Feeling” – done in conjunction with my tireless production partner, George Figares. You’ll also hear another new remix that’s very special to me — my take on an anthem called “Faces” by an incredibly talented NYC-based singer named Mila Jam. Her soaring vocals send a message about staying true to your authentic self. Look for the release soon on iTunes and other digital retailers. And a huge thank you to DJ Grind, DJ Wayne G, and DJ Maryalice for their support on “Faces”! I’m honored to be part of the remix package for Dirty Pop’s new single — “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” — a remake from the soundtrack to the movie “Mannequin” 30 years ago, which is currently climbing the Billboard dance charts! The update by DrewG and Brian Cua features new vocals by Taylor Olson & Jackie Orlando. However, rather than using my own remix on this podcast, I’ve included the remix by Israeli DJ Guy Scheiman. As the world pushes forward into one of the most uncertain eras of modern times, I think everyone’s taking a little bit of refuge in the familiar. Updates are everywhere in dance music in 2017.
