Hey I thought this sounds like a fascinating topic for a podcast episode! Crass definitely had a significant influence on the punk and hardcore scenes, but their impact on extreme metal is not as widely discussed. Exploring the connections between Crass's anarchistic philosophy and the themes found in extreme metal could lead to some interesting insights. Their DIY ethos and uncompromising attitude could resonate with many fans of extreme metal. Overall, I think delving into the history of Crass and their influence on different genres of music would make for a compelling podcast episode and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did recording it.

Tue, 12 Mar 2024 - 51min - 157 - Ep 155 - Diving into Industrial Metal and its prime movers
Industrial Metal is a tough one to analyse both musically and lyrically, i gave it a go and sort of covered all i could. So many bands that i may have passed over but i did linger on the main front runners and i do a sort of dive into my favourite of the genre. So come and lets take a listen to some of the craziest and sonically diverse music of all the Metal sub genres.

Tue, 05 Mar 2024 - 49min - 156 - Ep 154 - Riot City - Electric Elite- Album review
Riot City maybe a band you have never heard but SHOULD as they are one of the most exhilarating Speed Metal bands on the planet right now. And their second album Electric Elite is a mighty slice of crazy speed fueled metal madness. And Live they are an act that will be very hard to follow for some time to come.
This episode has a really nice little treat instead of the usual Ad beak this time i have a new track from https://www.kronowski.com/ who where brought to my attention by Davide Pulito at www.themetalistpr.com so pop over if your interested in some top notch PR for your growing band or even the established acts who want a bigger push

Tue, 27 Feb 2024 - 47min - 155 - Ep 153 - Black Sabbath's Paranoid as you have never heard it before
All of us at one time or another has heard this classic album but this 2020 reissue that celebrates its 50th birthday and in amongst all sort of amazing goodies you get this contentious Quadraphonic mix that came out 4 years after its release in 1976. Yes its a strange concept quad sound folded back to stereo but trust me some Audiophiles will wince at this but its all you would expect and SO much more. Take a read of my full review for https://metal-roos.com.au/ on the link below it may just help you understand where i'm coming from.

There has been a decline in the messages that bands and performers with passion would put out, it was not that long ago that the youth of many societies got their guidance from the musical idols.Would Live Aid happen now, would punk happen now. You will have to listen to hear what i think on this matter.

Many people think of Hysteria as the bands Epoch but i disagree and think this their first outing is where the seeds for one of the 80's biggest rock acts was sewn.

Episode 150 would you believe it! this milestone is celebrated with a look at one of my biggest influences and a singer and band that without doubt changed the face of heavy rock forever. Far reaching influences across the globe that for a very short time back in the very dawn of the 70’s shook the foundations of the grey and the boring that ruled the music industry. The Sensational Alex Harvey Band is a name that should be on all our lips. Let’s make it so starting here.

Back in the late 1970's and early 1980"s the musical landscape was a fluid and unpredictable place. In this was born Punk , New Wave, Heavy Metal and much much more, one band straddled the genres and helped create one completely on its own. The Skids are that band this weeks chat is about the classic album that not many remember but should be up there with anything XTC, The Stranglers, PIL could and did put out at that time.
So lets see if I get it right it was a tough one and on occasion the lyric analysis was live.

Well where would we be without art and in rock its a post 50's teenage boom that brought the medium of music clashing with the art of packaging, Then smashing head first into the nihilism of Punk in the late 70's. Followed by the plastic modernism of the cold war world. Synths ablaze and fluro splashes abound. This week i take a little trip through album art without the aid of notes. Tue, 16 May 2023 - 48min - 107 - Ep 105 - Christianity in Metal (the lost episode)
Due to some illness that has run through the house this week i have decided to put up a slightly controversial episode that i wrote to be part of my religion in metal series that i never really got round to doing. I recorded this whilst drinking some nice Christmas beer so hope you forgive me for the more then normal meandering.

Tue, 25 Apr 2023 - 49min - 103 - Ep 101 - Anzac day special reissue of the Sabbaton Bonus Episode
I think this very Apt that today being ANZAC day we on the show do our part to think of the fallen soldiers past and future and so i thought that this truly moving prose written and performed by my very good friend Benjy Murphy. If this does not move you then nothing will

Tue, 25 Apr 2023 - 15min - 102 - Ep 100 - April's woman in rock part 3 extreme vocals and missing artists
Here we are almost at the end of Aprils woman in rock month its been a topsy turvy month the interview i had planned for this month as the flag ship part of the series has unfortunately been moved to May for very, very good reasons which i am sworn to keep under my hat. This weeks episode was to end the month and i may during the show allude to both outcomes.Thats me all over guys you what you get with me by now hahahaha. Anyway its a two sided program this week Woman singers in extreme metal and the strange and confusing lack of woman artists designing metal covers. 9 well i could not find them anyway, if any of you have any suggestions jump over to https://www.facebook.com/HeavyMetalTones and have a chat with me about it. Also there you will find for one week only my Spotify play list that links with the show this changes every week so don't hang around
Enjoy my friends

Tue, 18 Apr 2023 - 46min - 101 - Ep 99 - April celebration of woman in rock part 2 -Producers-
April's woman in rock part 2 is all about production and the role that woman play in it, its a sad indictment of the industry that so few are major players in the music we all consume. One of them is the key figure in this weeks show so you will need to wait till part two to hear all about her amazing exploits in the world of music.
https://www.facebook.com/HeavyMetalTones pop over and have a chat about this or any subject really i just love talking to like minded music nerds and fellow metal heads about music in all its glory also do not forget to leave a review please on what ever platform you get your podcast from.

Tue, 04 Apr 2023 - 41min - 99 - Ep 97 - Classic Album review Tank "Power Of The Hunter"
Tank one of the most underrated NWOBHM bands on the planet. Musically such a diverse band and this their second album hard to find Power Of The Hunter is a classic. It has it all heavy Punk fuelled blues inspired rock with just a hint of Glam.
Lyrics that when i read through them were just on the odd side of bad taste but that’s what made NWOBHM what it is.
Here is the album as you can’t get it easy and it’s not on streaming platforms

Tue, 21 Mar 2023 - 57min - 97 - Ep 95 - The Clash London Calling (that tricky 3rd album)
Most bands have issues with their 2nd or 3rd album, not many were trapped in a situation where they were expected to keep the momentum of a genre that was running out of valid steam. But against the flow they made a double album that only paid homage to the past and present but a huge shout out to what was to come. The Clash are that band and London Calling is that album.
