All of the disciples, except John, deserted Jesus at the cross. They misunderstood and doubted Jesus, but Thomas is singled out in the gospels because he put his doubt into words. We are encouraged through Thomas's story to trust God and know that Jesus saved us with his torture, death and Resurrection. Blessed are those who believe though they do not see.
