Fri, 11 Aug 2023 - 1h 02min - 144 - Predicting the Dallas Mavericks record for the 2023-24 NBA season!
Will and Jaren predict the Mavericks record for the 2023-23 NBA season and sift through a slew of different scenarios in which could occur to the Mavericks and elaborate upon how the Mavericks will fare in each scenario. The first scenario being if the Mavericks go into the season with their current roster. The second scenario being if the Mavericks make a trade for a starting center or upgrade their wing spot. The last scenario is the doomsday scenario, where he injuries or some other issue have derailed the Mavericks season. After predicting records for each scenario, Will and Jaren talk about what factors could potentially lead to their predictions being skewed such as the Mavs rookies performing above expectations or Jaden Hardy's role being limited in the lineup. Lastly they talk shop for a few minutes and end the podcast by talking about their excited-ness for their content coming out in August as well as their new role as contributors at The Smoking Cuban!

Tue, 01 Aug 2023 - 59min - 143 - Has Nico Harrison shifted the culture of youth in the Mavs organization after Summer League?
Will and Jaren hop back on after almost a 2 week sabbatical from doing any podcasts together to fully wrap up the Mavs Las Vegas Summer League trip and their last game against the Atlanta Hawks in which they routed them fairly easily in a final score of 101-80. They talk about everyone who stood out in Summer League from promising un-drafted players like Jordan "Jelly" Walker, Taze Moore, and Brandon Randolph to rookie standouts and 2-way players who developed marginally throughout Summer League such as Dereck Lively, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, AJ Lawson, and Mike Miles Jr. They talk about all of their respected roles, how what they did in Summer League could translate to the NBA level, and what each prospect still needs to work on post-Vegas. They also commend Summer League head coach Jared Dudley for his work with the Mavs younger players and finish their summer league wrap up by commending Nico Harrison and the Mavs scouting department for shifting the culture in terms of the Mavs developmental system with young players given it will likely be an integral bridge to success if Luka Doncic stays and Kyrie Irving leaves Dallas or exceeds his prime in the coming years. Lastly, they wrap up with some sprinkles of news and rumors throughout the last 2 weeks such as what the Mavericks might do via trade to address the center position or what they may do with their remaining $6 million that they still have left in their mid-level exception.

Tue, 25 Jul 2023 - 1h 03min - 142 - O-Max Prosper out duels Jarace Walker! Who will the Mavs sign with their 2-way spots?
Will and his friend Ethan (a tentative Mavs fan who is trying to learn more but is very passionate about basketball) wrap up a 98-96 OT summer league victory for the Mavericks over the Golden State Warriors as well as the 112-91 dismantling of the Indiana Pacers in this one. He talks about the defensive identity and young culture that has been fostered on this you Mavs summer league team and how much of a stark contrast it is to previous summer league teams for the Mavs over the last few years. He talks about key role players and how they fared in both games like AJ Lawson, Taze Moore, and Jordan Walker and how they could all potentially be guys that harness the last two 2-way spots the Mavericks have after signing Mike Miles Jr. (who's also been very impressive) to a 2-way deal yesterday. They then talk about how the rookies fared in both games and just how much potential Dereck Lively II has despite him still needed to continue on an upward trajectory on that developmental curve quite some more before he's ready to start. Lastly they talk about how impressive O-Max Prosper and AJ Lawson were defensively and praise O-Max as a tried and true day 1 ready rotation player after he imposed his will on fellow first round pick Jarace Walker in tantalizing fashion before talking about how the continued polishing of AJ Lawson's game will be integral to him earning a regular or 2-way spot on the Mavericks roster after an impressive and hyper-efficient 10-12 shooting performance against the Pacers in summer league.

Wed, 12 Jul 2023 - 1h 36min - 140 - GRANT WILLIAMS SIGNED & TRADED TO DALLAS! What other moves does Nico have in store?
Will and Jaren cover the huge sign and trade that sends Boston Celtics forward Grant Williams to the Dallas Mavericks on a 4 year/$53 million contract that sees both Dallas and Boston accruing 2 2nd round picks in the process whilst the Mavericks give up Reggie Bullock and a 2030 pick swap to the San Antonio Spurs. Will and Jaren talk about how significant it is for the Mavericks as well as Dallas to finally get a free agent that was heavily rumored to come here and WANTS to be here. They then talk about Grant Williams basketball fit with the Mavericks, and talk about how he can be the quintessential non-one dimensional 3&D role player the Mavericks have been coveting as far as bigger wings go. They then move on to the failed Matisse Thybulle offer sheet the Mavericks used to try and steer away the RFA from Portland with and how good of a fit it could of potentially been, whilst also recognizing it could've been a drastic overpay and the Mavericks will need to pivot quickly if they wish to acquire another wing with their potential full MLE still remaining 6 days into free agency and fairly limited options still on the table. Lastly they talk about what the Mavericks will do next with Marc Stein reporting that they are still in need and pursuit of a starting center, as well as how the Mavericks could still use their flexibility to split the MLE between 2 player or make a trade where they take back more salary than is outgoing to get the 2 longing needs for this team (A starting caliber center and rotation wing, or a starting caliber wing and rotation big).

Thu, 06 Jul 2023 - 1h 16min - 139 - Dallas Mavericks Free Agency Day 1 &2: Kyrie Irving, Seth Curry, Dwight Powell + more!
Will and Jaren cover the so far fairly underwhelming start to NBA free agency for the Dallas Mavericks, one in which they are poised to cash in on a window towards championship contention after the reliving re-signing of Kyrie Irving at the figure of $126 million over 3 years with a player option in year 3. Jaren and Will talk about how the Mavericks were smart to get Kyrie back at a realistic figure that still gives them flexibility, but also doesn’t risk losing Kyrie by “hard balling” him. After talking about the importance of retaining Kyrie, Will and Jaren talk about how it is now quintessential to the Maverick’s being that they build a championship ready roster, or at least one that is in the upper-sphere of contenders given Luka and Kyrie are on contracts that will end around the same time and the Mavericks have very few limited draft assets and young players to expend in future trades (or at least ones they’d be willing to give up). Next they talk about the other moves the Mavericks made such as bringing back sharpshooter and 3-level scoring veteran guard Seth Curry for 2 years using the bi-annual exception. They talk about Seth’s fit and how this could bode credence to the fact that the Mavericks will be making a trade involving Tim Hardaway Jr. soon given his contract as well as their logjam at guard. Barring their welcome back to Seth, they talk about the Mavericks retaining Dwight Powell at 3 years for $12 million and how it is a very respectable figure for him to re-sign on if it is in an off the bench, sort of mentor role to Dereck Lively where he can contribute within the margins, but they do preface that will end up being a pretty bad move in terms of the complete lack of asset management if Powell is the last big man added to this Mavs roster. They touch up on the Mavericks signing Dante Exum to a veteran minimum contract and talk a little bit about what he could potentially bring to the table as a flyer if he pans out, essentially playing the Frank role, before they get into the cap logistics the Mavericks could use going forward to still be able to use their full MLE as well as how they can do that in tandem with making other trades. Despite the offseason not being over, Will and Jaren reciprocate the sentiment that most Mavs fans have of desperation and despair given the Mavericks have let a lot of guys slip off the board but they do talk about the moves they can still make as well as multiple targets not just in FA, but in trades as well the Mavericks could look to to build a holistic roster featuring better wing defense and rim protection, but they do preface to be cautious given the failures of the past regime as well as Nico Harrison having not proved himself in the free agency sphere of things during his tenure in Dallas as of yet. -Follow us on Twitter @Mainstream214 and like, subscribe, and give us a good rating or comment down below on whatever listening platform you are listening on, thank you for listening to this podcast and supporting!

They then talk about each player's contract situation and survey the route as to how the Mavericks could get each player and if it would be worth it or not, whether its from using the full MLE, the BAE, or even via trade. They talk about the likes of Bruce Brown, Harrison Barnes, DeAndre Ayton, Tobias Harris, and Grant Williams and also diagnose how plausible it would be for each player to actually be in a Mavericks uniform next season before talking about some cap ramifications surrounding the proposed DeAndre Ayton trade that the Phoenix Suns reportedly turned down from the Maverick's because of the potential inclusion of JaVale McGee. They sift through different cap scenarios such as potentially stretch waiving a Maverick, seeing what Kyrie Irving potentially signs for, as well as segueing McGee to a 4th team and they talk about which cap gymnastics would be applicable as well as which ones would be too burdensome to try for the Mavs before each of them give their opinion on which scenarios they'd like to see Ayton in Dallas in. Lastly, they talk about the Adrian Wojnarowski report that came out as they were recording live which talked about how heavily a possibility Kyrie Irving remaining in Dallas seems to be.

They talk about an up and down performance from Luka Doncic, one which saw him act as the focal point offense with Kyrie out, with his playmaking skills put on a premium, but also a game in which he suffered lots of complaining to the referee and defensive woes. They also discuss the impact of this loss at this juncture in the season as well as how all the other Mavericks role players fared in this one. They talk ad nauseam about the stark contrast of the Warriors role players comparable to the Mavericks limited 1 dimensionality within the brass of their role players. Lastly, they look ahead to the next 9 games and talk about the Mavericks filing a contest to the league regarding the errant referee management with a wide open Kevon Looney dunk in the 3rd quarter where the Mavericks were on the other side of the floor.

Will dissects the Mavericks 112-118 loss over the Grizzlies, a game in which the Mavs blew yet another lead and got too comfortable. Will talks heavily about the Mavericks clutch time woes and how they were not able to surmise any clutch time offense. He also talks about a tale of two halves from Kyrie Irving and the "fake beef" that persisted between him and Dillon Brooks and the other antics from Dillon Brooks during this game. He also talks about how Jaren Jackson Jr. completely mitigated the interior play from the Mavericks on both sides of the ball tonight. Lastly, he gets into how well Mavericks bench players Christian Wood and Jaden Hardy played tonight, and some rotation adjustments from Jason Kidd.

Sat, 18 Mar 2023 - 1h 19min - 107 - Is the 2022-23 Mavericks season lost?
Will and Jaren debrief over the Mavericks 112-108 and 104-88 losses over the Memphis Grizzlies over a brief home and home stretch that saw injury riddled teams on both sides, particularly the Mavericks who saw Tim Hardaway Jr. get injured in the second affair as well as Christian Wood missing time amidst an already injured Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. After a quick debrief though, Will and Jaren move on to much more intriguing and devisive topics though as the Mavericks losing 9 of their last 13 games warrants it in their opinion. They dive into the 3 main issues of this Mavericks roster. That being the perimeter defense, the interior defense, and this mismanagement of the Christian Wood situation. They then get into issues that have persisted with Jason Kidd this season, such as his apathy and unaccountability towards the media, as well as how he's handled the rotations this year among many other things. Lastly they talk about if the Mavericks are tanking, or trying to make the playoffs 70 games through with 12 games left in the regular season as the team still has no identity up to this point, and they talk about how soon Luka and Kyrie come back could correlate to that process.

Thu, 16 Mar 2023 - 1h 01min - 106 - Did the Mavs save their season with an UGLY win over the Spurs?
Will and Jaren encapsulate a 137-128 OT victory for the Mavericks over the 18 win San Antonio Spurs in a game that saw a plethora of guys out for both teams. They dive into how sorely needed the win was for the Mavericks despite the Mavericks having every inclination to try and blow this game with Maxi Kleber's antics in the waning moments of regulation. They talk about the Mavericks continued gaping defensive holes, but also highlight how 5 Mavericks scored 20+ points, a feat never achieved by the Mavericks this season up until this point and it warrants them talking glowingly about how Jaden Hardy, Josh Green, Christian Wood, Reggie Bullock, and Dwight Powell played tonight, who all stepped up beyond the normal call of duty for a typical role player in this one, well at least offensively. They also talk about Christian Wood finally getting more minutes and how surprised they were that Jason Kidd rode him down the stretch despite bad foul trouble. They also talk about what the Spurs did well as well as how paramount this final stretch of the season is for the Mavericks and pose the question if this was the game that will right the ship.

Will and Jaren give their 2 cents on the Mavericks 120-116 win versus the Utah Jazz, and 113-106 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans respectively. They talk extensively about the Luka Doncic injury and how that situation may evolve over the coming days and weeks as well as other Mavericks injuries. They talk a lot about different offensive and defensive schematics the Mavericks instilled these past 2 games and how even with them changing up some small intricacies, it’s still more of the same in terms of the rotation and defensive woes this team has experienced since post All Star break. They talk about how the role players fared in both games but unfortunately don’t get too heavily into the other teams role players due to time constraints. Lastly, they talk about another productive stretch from C-Wood these last 2 games and if that’s forwarded his case to start/get more minutes as well as how Josh Green’s struggles are affecting this team. -Follow us on Twitter @mainstream_mavs and like, subscribe, and give us a good rating or comment down below on whatever listening platform you are listening on, thank you for listening to this podcast and supporting!

Will and Jaren talk about the Mavericks 130-126 loss versus the Phoenix Suns and how crucial it was as the Mavericks are ever tightly congested in the Western Conference playoff race. They talk about the late game antics with Luka Doncic and Devin Booker as well as the continued clutch time woes that have been an ongoing narrative for the Mavericks this season. They also talk extensively about the offensive output of the Suns with new addition Kevin Durant and how impossible it is to defend at times despite the Mavericks best efforts. They also dive into a subpar game from Luka Doncic and how it affected the trajectory of this game as well. They dip into how role players on each time fared as well and elaborate upon the Mavericks defense as they do every game, before getting into how a Mavs-Suns playoff series V.2 would be very exciting. Lastly, they stress how ever important the last 17 games of the regular season are for the Mavericks.

Will and Jaren talk about an insanely fun game from the Mavericks against the 76ers where they won 133-126 and a game in which they saw Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving both have 42 and 40 point games respectively. They talk about the dynamism that persisted with Luka and Kyrie and how they were able to play within tandem of one another and it still be within the flow of the game as well as the overarching significance this yields for the city of Dallas, now having 2 guys who can play at this level as they stepped onto the stage for their "breakout games" with each other. They also talk about the game itself and the overall ebb and flow of it as well as how different Mavericks role players played and get into the role of Josh Green and Christian Wood within this team. They sparingly talk about big games from Sixers stars Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and James Harden tonight and what the Mavericks did and didn't do effectively defensively in this one. Lastly, they forecast to next time versus the Suns and re-iterate how important of a win this was for the "vibes" of the Mavericks.

Fri, 03 Mar 2023 - 1h 09min - 102 - Is the Dallas Mavericks season in jeopardy?
Will diagnoses a debilitating 124-122 clutch time loss to the Indiana Pacers in a game where the Mavericks defensive woes were once agin put on full display. Will talks about the Mavericks overfilling the first half and the hot start the Pacers got off to as well as the Mavericks reliance on Luka Doncic to keep them in the game throughout large stretches of this one. He also talks about positives such as the Mavericks pace of play and increased shooting production from Tim Hardaway Jr. and Reggie Bullock but ultimately he talks about the Mavericks downfall that was categorized by a lack of clutch time offense, The Mavericks and Kyrie not capitalizing in the non-Luka minutes, as well as the defense just being too lackluster and non-energetic as a whole. He also talks about the return of Maxi Kleber who hadn't played for 2 1/2 months due to a right hamstring tear and praises him for his ability to come in and play 24 important minutes for the Mavericks after being on a minute restriction, especially the way he played down the stretch defensively. Will also gets into some narrative based topics that emanated from this game such as Christian Wood heading back to the locker room after 2 errant illegal screens, Kyrie's potential confidence issues, as well as Luka's attitude towards the referees and subsequently not getting back on defense because of it. Lastly he talked sparingly about how some of the Pacers played and how good the Haliburton-Turner pick and roll was as well as how good Turner fared defensively along with some other Pacer role players.

They make sure to cover the other contributors to this matinee affair such as lack of rim protection, Jarred Vanderbilt and Anthony Davis' defensive pressure on the Mavericks, Kyrie's poor shooting game, and Luka's lackadaisical second half turnovers + much more in this very high profile but very disappointing nationally televised loss for the Mavericks.

Mon, 27 Feb 2023 - 1h 14min - 100 - Luka and Kyrie 1st victory together against depleted Spurs! (100th episode!)
In their 100th episode of the Mainstream Mavs Podcast, Will and Jaren diagnose the Mavericks 142-116 victory over the San Antonio Spurs and talk heavily about the positives and negatives that persisted just within this game for the Mavericks defensively, how new Maverick Justin Holiday fared in his debut, how Luka and Kyrie lead the charge and pacing of the game for the Mavericks in their own unique way respectively, and they talked about each of the Mavericks who scored in double figures (all 8 of them) at nauseam as they discuss the contributions the Mavericks got from their bench tonight. They also talk about the inhibitions that a young Spurs team was able to place upon the Mavericks defense despite limited personnel with guys like Keldon Johnson, Blake Wesley, and Malaki Branham leading the charge for SAS and they talk about how they took advantage of the Mavericks lackluster rim protection, but are quick to point out it was a task too insurmountable for a young Spurs team to slow down a Mavericks offense that was humming on all cylinders. Will and Jaren also want to thank you guys for supporting now that they are 100 episodes in and do so at the end of the podcast (for not long enough) as all our listeners are really what keep this thing churning despite the adversity we face so we deeply appreciate you guys and are excited to keep this thing moving to newfound heights!

They then get into some national media narratives that have been bugging Mavs twitter for days on end then outlook to how long it will take Luka and Kyrie to fully get together, if they aren't already really close as is. After that, they dive into the Mavericks rotation and pose the question of: "What is the defensive ceiling for this Mavericks team?" and subsequently talk about the implications of where this Mavericks team could lay at the end of the season based on how far the defense takes them, but while also acknowledging that the offense could override the defensive shortcomings given the right circumstances. Lastly, they profile new Maverick Justin Holiday before touching base on some buyout guys as well as discussing who(s) is going to shore up that last spot in the rotation for the Mavericks as the regular season comes to a close and the playoff rotation is set.

Thu, 23 Feb 2023 - 49min - 98 - Mavs head into the All-Star break on a bad note...
Will discusses the Mavericks 118-109 loss to the Denver Nuggets, a game which included lots of injuries (Kyrie, THJ, Davis Bertans, and Maxi for the Mavs, and Aaron Gordon and Jamal Murray for the Nuggets), a very lackluster team defensive performance from the Mavericks, a 37 point haymaker from Luka Doncic with seemingly no notable contributions outside of Christian Wood otherwise, and some interesting rotations from HC Jason Kidd. Will talks about where the Mavericks could position themselves post All Star Break or where we could see them slope a little further and also sets the stage for a fun weekend around the league that will presumably feature Luka and Kyrie playing in an all star game (both as starters) together. He also gets into Christian Wood's state as a Maverick which is a sort of mysterious one as he kind of alludes too. Lastly, he touches on newly signed Maverick Justin Holiday as he questions why he didn't play when J-Kidd said he would pre-game.

Thu, 16 Feb 2023 - 59min - 97 - Kyrie's 26 point 4Q & home debut SPOILED by T-Wolves
Will and Jaren get into the Mavericks 124-121 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Kyrie Irving's home debut, a debut in which Kyrie finished with 26 points in the 4th quarter which was nearly a franchise record for points in a quarter by a Maverick, only 3 off from Dirk Nowitzki's 29 point record. Despite all this though, there were many woes that paralyzed the Mavericks ability to win this game on both sides of the ball such as an inefficient game from typical relied upon role player Josh Green, the Mavericks defense sucking in all of its entirety, and Luka and Kyrie being indecisive on the last possession in terms of who should take the final shot, and Will and Jaren delve into all of these topics. They also talk about how Luka and Kyrie co-existed and split possessions in the 4th quarter, but barring that it was seemingly negative Nancy valley as they brought HC Jason Kidd under fire for some of his post game remarks as well as his current substitution rotations. They also talk about how the rest of the Mavs role players played as well as what the T-Wolves did to win this game, before getting into some buyout discussion regarding the Mavs at the end.

Tue, 14 Feb 2023 - 1h 26min - 96 - Kyrie and Luka debut ends in OT loss; Mavs go 1-1 over the weekend
Will details the Mavericks 2 games over the weekend, that being their home and home versus the Sacramento Kings that saw the Mavericks win 122-114 without Luka in the first Friday night affair, then lose 133-128 OT in the second game with Luka debuting alongside Kyrie. Will talks about the pace at which the Mavericks are playing, the offensive actions in which they are running, Luka and Kyrie splitting the bill down the stretch in clutch time, the Mavericks role players performances, as well as how some of the Kings put pressure on the Mavericks within these 2 affairs. Will stresses for fans to maintain a level of even-keel amidst the latter game of the home and home, that being the one Doncic and Irving debuted together, being fairly disappointing in the waning moments as he stresses the factors working against the Mavericks and prefaces that while they don't have a whole lot of time, if it takes a few games for Doncic and Irving to get synchronized offensively that's okay, as he alludes to multiple instances where they flourished. Lastly he talks about the latest rumblings with the Mavs and the buyout market as they got fleeced by Terrence Ross in a sort of less severe Deandre Jordan esc way.

They also talk about new Maverick Chris Silva, who just signed his 2nd ten 10 day contract, along with A.J Lawson could supplement in the Mavericks defensive voids in spurts if they development and get more playing time, but they do preface that those scenarios have a slim chance of working out. He talks about the amount of potential that Green and Hardy harness in the coming years as well as the progressions Hardy has made just within this season and Green from last year to this year. He also gives special shoutouts to the Mavericks role players who really played above their means tonight in every which way and fashion even if there was the occasional dull moments as he highlights a great playmaking effort from McKinley Wright and an insane gutsy rebounding night from Dwight Powell who hauled in 16 boards (8 offensive!). He also gets into a slow debut from Christian Wood and what it potentially means as he went 1/7 in less than 20 minutes as he was seemingly on a minutes restriction and didn't start but he does voice his excitement for him being back. Lastly he gets into the Jazz's role player and what they did and didn't do well as well as a little chatter in regards to some coveted guys from the Jazz the Mavs may need to look at this deadline, one of which being Jared Vanderbilt, who sat last night's game out.

Will and Jaren wrap up the Mavericks 111-105 victory over the Detroit Pistons that features an insane 53 point performance from Luka Doncic, but not much help outside of that. Will and Jaren allude to this being the straw that broke the camel's back in terms of the national media outcry for the Mavs getting Luka help in all of its extremity being completely validated as they try to come up with pitiful defenses for the Mavericks role players podcast after podcast in terms of them being sufficient or adequate enough to suffice with Luka Doncic spearheading this roster at least until they can get more help this offseason, but they point to how this team will go crashing downhill if they don't get help soon, like trade deadline soon. Mon, 30 Jan 2023 - 57min - 85 - What direction is this Mavericks team going in?
In a solo rendition, Will diagnoses the Mavericks issues over this last 3 game stretch, which is a microcosm of an even worse last 10 game stretch where the Mavericks have fared an abysmal 2-8 amidst injuries and defensive woes. He does reference some positives at the beginning of the podcast as well, but even more so than the on-court struggles, he talks about some concerning Spencer Dinwiddie quotes after the Mavericks 127-126 loss to the Washington Wizards as well. He ends the podcast with an outlook to the trade deadline and poses the question amidst this season defining stretch for the Mavericks, "What position will this Mavericks team take, one of a play in/lottery team or that of one has home-court in the first round? Cause they could be either in the Western Conference's log jammed standings after this recent skid."

They then compare the Mavericks 2 blowout 17 point losses to the Blazers, one without Christian Wood yet with Luka Doncic, and the inverse in the second game. They talk about the Mavericks defensive and offensive woes in both of these affairs, as well as some positives from some more seldom used contributory role players such as Jaden Hardy and Frank Ntilikina, and pose the question as to if these guys will still be in the rotation when the Mavericks become less injury riddled and the situation remediates itself.
Tue, 17 Jan 2023 - 1h 15min - 82 - Mavericks huge 2OT victory over Lakers! What went right, what went wrong?
Will and Jaren surmise a huge 2OT clutch time victory for the Mavericks over the Los Angeles Lakers in a game that saw Luka Doncic and the Mavericks pull through amidst a flurry of defensive mishaps and stale offensive possessions. Yet there were so many positives that the Mavericks showed late in the game in terms of their persistence and the defensive performance of Christian Wood, assertiveness of Spencer Dinwiddie, clutch-ness of Luka Doncic, and shooting of Tim Hardaway Jr. which in turn elevated the Mavericks to a 119-115 victory in a sluggish yet needed clutch time victory over the Lakers and Will and Jaren iron out all the intricacies of the win on today's episode.

Sat, 14 Jan 2023 - 1h 12min - 81 - Where do the Mavericks stand halfway through the season and how do they finish this year?
In possibly the most content and densely packed information podcast they've put out since starting, Will and Jaren take a step back as the season reaches its halfway marker for the Mavericks as they are now 41 (technically 42) games in with a record of 23-19. Will and Jaren dive deep into a variety of topics surrounding the team this year such as posing the question of 'What is the Maverick's identity?', as well as diagnosing the Mavericks most expendable players and most pressing needs. Then that segues into 'Will the Mavericks make a move by the trade deadline or not?'. They spend a good portion of time talking about the Christian Wood contract situation and how they think the Mavs should manage that, Luka's case for MVP, the 3rd ball handler situation and the variances between this year's team versus last, and how they predict the Mavericks to finish in the west coupled with how they've met expectations this far into the season, as well. Lastly they hash out some tentative player reviews for everyone on the team so far this season and state whether they've 'underperformed' or 'overperformed" compared to expectations among much more!

Will and Jaren cover the Mavericks 7 game winning streak getting snapped in a 124-95 loss by the Mavericks to the Boston Celtics in a game that a blind dog could've predicted. Will and Jaren talk about the stark difference in terms of the Mavs vs. Celtics personnel and how much more tailor made the Celtics are to play switch defense and how much more versatile and dynamic they are offensively with a plethora of shot creators spearheaded by Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, and how the Mavericks pale in comparison and simply don't have the ability to stack up against such a juggernaut. They talk about an off night from Luka Doncic and how is body may be catching up to him a bit amidst the egregious load he's been carrying, a call to see more Spencer Dinwiddie possessions as the lead ball handler, among other points of discussion from an abysmal Thursday night affair.
