Mon, 11 Nov 2024 - 17min - 2491 - THE BARDCAST - Sarah de Nordwall - #27. ft. Kay Clarity, live from Los Angeles: A Side
Episode 27, both A and B sides, are devoted to exploring the beautiful work of singer-songwriter from Saskatchewan, Kay Clarity and tracing her work from Poetic Folk to her new Pop Music persona Pax Paloma, developed in her new location in LA. And seriously, you’re gonna dance when you hear some of this gorgeously produced, clean pop album, launched on All Saints Day this year -“Songs for the Apocalypse” on all the usual platforms. We all need a horizon of hope. And the music industry and the billions of people who are influence by it need one more than ever. But it can be a lonely business taking that on - one woman, one guitar and a big sky. Listening to, investing in and promoting our fellow Christian creatives, who are bringing beauty into the culture, are solid acts of evangelisation. So let’s transform our culture, one song, one poem and one album at a time. And don’t miss “Victory Cry” from the new album; it’s her favourite. Videos available on youtube.

Tue, 15 Oct 2024 - 47min - 2422 - THE BARDCAST - Sarah de Nordwall - 26. God and Luci: A Midrashic Dialogue
In Episode 26 of the Bardcast we begin with Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanah and then consider the turning point of the incarnation, through a midrash style dialogue poem The Making of Mankind.
In a lighthearted style, this imagined dialogue between God and Lucifer explores the enthusiasm God has for life and the glowering cynicism and “proposal” of Lucifer.
We reflect on the value of returning to our early work and seeing the “call” in the themes that have inspired our “interpretive act” that is the gift of writing.
A writing prompt follows and you are encouraged to send in a dialogue.
The version of God and Luci that you’ll hear on the Bardcast is taken from Sarah's CD “Lipstick is a Spiritual Experience” that is available on https://sarahdenordwall.com/shop/

In this episode of Questions of Faith we do things a little differently, inviting three sisters from St Joseph's in New Forest to share with us the importance of the role of catechists and the work they are doing to equip catechists in the Church.
QUESTIONS OF FAITH is a programme in which listeners call in and ask our guests a theological, biblical or pastoral question - anything related to the faith, in other words. We usually have a priest, religious brother or sister or lay evangelist on and the programme airs live on Fridays at 11:15am.

A lot of time in this episode is spent on Sundays introit (28th Sunday in Ordinary Time, year B), taken from Psalm 129/130, coming at it from different angles and hearing it set in different ways. We also remember St Luke who's feast is just around around the corner.
THE LITURGICAL LOOKING GLASS is a programme that looks at the liturgy of the week ahead and music that is inspired by it either directly or indirectly. It is written by Nick Swarbrick and co-presented by Tim Hutchinson. It airs every Friday at 10am and is rebroadcast at 10pm.

Inspired by the powerful true story, the film follows Donna and Reverend Martin as they ignite a fire in the hearts of their rural community to embrace children in the foster system that nobody else would take. By doing the impossible–adopting 77 children–this East Texas community proved that, with real, determined love, the battle for America’s most vulnerable can be won.
