Throughout the liturgical year, we find several feasts dedicated to angels. Through these feasts, Holy Mother Church invites us to contemplate the world of the angels and their role in assisting us on the path to salvation.

Grace is the most precious gift we have, but following that is time. In the brief period we have in this life to work out our salvation, one of the most pressing matters is how we use our time well. Compared to the existence of creation, our lifespan is less than a blink of an eye, yet what we do with it has eternal consequences.

In Singapore, Pope Francis announced that all religions lead to God. We know as a matter of faith this is untrue. The only true path to God is through Christ.

At the transfiguration on Mt. Tabor, Our Lord revealed Himself in His full glory for the first time. However, when we look at Christ's earthly life, we cannot help but notice that He humbles Himself. Why did He do this and what lessons can we draw from Our Lord's sacrificial example?

What does it mean to receive Holy Communion with the Blessed Virgin Mary? We must recall that the Eucharist is the continuation of the Incarnation and that this miracle came to us through Our Lady. And so when receive Our Lord at Communion, we should do so in a spirit of thanksgiving to His Mother for bringing Christ into the world.

The September Ember Days are a time of penance, but too many of us look at the calendar and remark, “They’re not obligatory.” This is entirely the wrong attitude, for the Ember Days are an integral part of the Church’s liturgical year and a reminder of our need to seek God’s mercy.

We often think of St. Michael as a warrior saint. But it is his humility we should emulate. His final triumph over evil is due to his humble submission to Our Lord, which are all called upon to perform.

On the morning of 9/11, which was a profound tragedy for this country, what did those victims believe was going to happen? Our Lord's earthly ministry often saw Him getting embroiled in controversies concerning the Jewish Law. In so doing, He was combatting the spirit of empty formalism. To this day, we are often preoccupied with formal adherence to the law rather than embracing its spirit.

What is our relationship to the Mass? Are the prayers of the Mass mere words or do they mean something to us? Do we come to this liturgy because it is merely required or because we love it?

On the feast of Pope St. Pius X, which falls on September 3rd, we reflect on the connection between this holy and St. John Vianney, the Curé d'Ars. Both of their lives instruct us on the meaning of the priesthood and living the virtue of poverty.

When the Israelites were traveling through the wilderness, God provided for them. Despite this, God’s people consistently complained and murmured, even going so far as to wish they had never been liberated from Egypt rather than accept what the Lord provided. In the ancient Israelites we see a painful reflection of ourselves, particularly when we complain about material things and the struggles of everyday life.

When making petitions to God in prayer, we desire He answer in the affirmative, but often find He does not. Even the saints, whose prayers appear to be more efficacious than our own, do not always receive what they request, for it is not God’s will. Why is this so, and does this reality mean that God leaves prayers unanswered?

As the Blessed Virgin Mary was never far from Our Lord’s side during his earthly life, so she remains to this day. She is a golden thread that runs through the entire life of the Church, from the Incarnation to the present day.

The sin of presumption, like despair, is a vice that's the opposite of the theological virtue of hope. Many Catholics find themselves torn between these vices, believing on the one hand that God has withdrawn His grace from the world or, on the other, believing that Our Lord does not care for our moral behavior and how permits every sort of vice.

Humility of heart is necessary to eradicate pride, which is the greatest stumbling block in the spiritual life. Like the pharisees, we are tempted to live an illusion, believing ourselves better than we truly are. This is why Our Lord reminds us that he who exalts himself shall be humbled, but that he who humbles himself shall be exalted.

From the moment of our baptism, when sanctifying grace flooded our soul, we became children of our heavenly Father and brothers and sisters of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Christ came into the world not only to save us from sin, but to show us what it is to live as true children of God.

We know about the gravity of sins committed against marriage - but sadly, many engaged couples start their relationship not with virtue, but with destructive tendencies.

The Catholic life forces us to navigate a sort of duality between the flesh and spirit, which sometimes leads us to absolutize one over the other. Similarly, we are often tempted to absolutize good and evil, treating the latter as substance that preys upon us rather than seeing it for what is: the privation of good. If we wish to rid our lives of evil, then we must put our souls at peace and recognize that we are surrounded by the good that God has created for us.

The opening ceremonies of the Olympics was marred by a flagrant act of blasphemy against Our Lord. This gross act does not inherently degrade the accomplishments of the athletes who compete, but it does provide an occasion to reflect on the place of sports in our lives and the disproportionate place we often give to them.

At times, we may believe our sins are too great for God's mercy. It is commonplace for us to think we are beyond God's love, and we compound our sins by losing hope and giving up. This is the exact opposite of how we should feel, for God's mercy is infinite and it is there if we sincerely seek it.

The world, the devil, and even our own flesh are sources of temptation to sin. So why then do we ask God to not lead us into temptation? Does this mean God is a source of stumbling blocks that may make us fall out of a state of grace?

It is a requirement of faith to believe in the sacraments and their efficaciousness. The sacraments are vessels of grace intended for our salvation. And it is from the Church's doctrine that we know this truth about the sacraments and their importance to our lives.

In our baptism, we renounce forever satan and his works. We are freed from sin. However, out of complacency, we do not appreciate what a vital act baptism is and the importance of putting a life of sin behind us.

The Tears of Our Lord - SSPX Sermons

The Gospels show us how Our Lord touched the lives of his followers, including St. Mary Magdalene. In her acts of service toward Him, she unveils the pureness of her heart. Moreover, she serves as a model for us all through her great faith in Christ to forgive sins and offer the path of salvation.

In the contemporary world, there are innumerable obstacles placed before those who wish to have a genuine family. The father’s authority is routinely mocked and children are told they needn’t follow their parents’ directives. Yet we know the family is the foundation upon which society is built and that is why we must not relinquish to struggle to maintain its integrity today.

Without a true love for God and neighbor, our souls can become a den of thieves. This is best exhibited in the sins of the tongue, those acts of detraction and derision that we carry out against our neighbors. In destroying the good names of others due to an absence of charity, we risk destroying ourselves.

Those considering a vocation often struggle with whether their choice is the will of God. For we know that to act outside His will imposes serious obstacles for our salvation. This is why we must be cautious in discerning His will for us, never acting hastily or imprudently.

Children are a source of great joy. However, parents have to be prepared for trials and tribulations, not only for themselves but for their children. Part of properly educating children is to instruct them in the inevitable sorrows to come while instilling in them reliance on and love for God.

At times many of us struggle to pray. At others, we may feel like our prayer life just is not enough. But we can take heart in the truth that as Catholics, we have access to the liturgy, what Archbishop Lefebvre called the great prayer of the Church—for it is the prayer of Our Lord Jesus Christ

The Church emphasizes the importance of charity as the virtue that perfects us and unites all other virtues. Comparing a good person to a good knife, Father explains that fulfilling our purpose through charity is essential. Charity, unlike other virtues, directly connects us to God and must be the driving force behind our actions to truly lead a life of holiness.

"Thou has redeemed us with Thy blood O Lord, and made us a kingdom for our God." Our Lord shed all His blood for us to show us His infinite love, from the Circumcision to the Crucifixion. God's mercy is infinite and by His precious blood, He has washed away our sins.

Modesty in the broad sense concerns much more than how we dress or appear in public. Every aspect of how we carry ourselves is regulated by modesty. Modest persons do not seek to be the center of attention or exalt themselves, but rather they carry themselves with a quiet dignity.

The Church celebrates the Feast of the Precious Blood of Jesus reminds us that we are in need of redemption daily. It is also reminder that this redemption is personal, and touches upon all of our failings, particularly our selfishness.

According to the secular religion of the modern world, June is "Pride Month"--a time when the faithful are assailed with celebrations of perversity. It is particularly important then for Catholics to reflect on not only how society came to be in such a confused state, but to rededicate themselves to resisting the so-called "sexual revolution" in their own lives.

Living in the world can be difficult and complicated. It may even seem at times that God is not present. And so we must be ever mindful of Our Lord's promise to us before His Ascension: "Behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world."

We are creatures who are slaves to vanity. And vanity makes us empty. And this is why depend upon Christ, Who strengthens us.

The Gospel contains many accounts of Our Lord working miracles to heal the body. But every one points beyond those instances to remind us of His desire to heal our souls.

If we want to experience Our Lord's mercy in the Blessed Sacrament, then we must receive it in the spirit of faith. One way we can exhibit that spirit is to ask ourselves first, what more can we do for God? And then, to live our lives in conformity with His will so that we may receive the graces that come with Holy Communion.

After Pentecost, the Church focuses on directing us to grow in holiness and our love for God. Because of our weakness, we need constant reminding not only of God's justice, but His infinite mercy, even in the face of suffering.

Out of God's love for us, we have heard Him speak; he has walked among us. Through this love, He has forgiven our sins and called us to be His children. As His children, we must love one another, for as St. John tells us "charity is born of God" and "he that does not love does not know God, for God is charity."

When God revealed Himself and His Law to Moses on St. Sinai, Moses besought God to let him see Our Lord. And though Moses was only given a glimpse of God's glory and majesty, his face was made radiant for the rest of his life. Through Christ Our Lord, we, too, are offered the possibility of eternal radiance through His salvific death.

Holy Mother Church designates June as the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This time is a reminder of the love of God and our obligation to respond to that love.

Credidimus caritati, "we have believed in love," is known by many as the episcopal motto of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, founder of the Society of Saint Pius X. For many, believing in God's love is a constant struggle, particularly in the face of adversity and when we come to know our own sinfulness. Yet God's love remains with us throughout.

Along with a direct miracle from God, the family is a main source of vocations. However, even good and holy families often have questions on how to foster vocations. This sermon explores the importance of parents persevering with patience in their marriage vows as a means of encouraging vocations among their children.

Life presents innumerable challenges, which often feel overwhelming. In her wisdom, the Church provides opportunities to take a step back, collect ourselves, and become energized again to meet these difficulties head on, always trusting in Our Lord to see us through.

As the Epistle of St. James instructs us, “Faith without works is dead.” Despite what we are often told by those outside the Church, as Catholics we know that if we have faith, it is lived through our actions. Our Catholic Faith it is not a private matter; it is professed through every act we perform in the world.

Although Mother's Day is not a liturgical feast, it provides an opportunity for Catholics to life their gaze to their heavenly mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary. This day also invites us to consider the role mothers play in the life of the family and the Church, for motherhood is a spiritual work directed toward the formation of souls in cooperation with God's grace.

The repetition of the phrase "in a little while" in St. John's Gospel is not accidental. Rather, the Evangelist invites us to consider the meaning of these words in relation to Our Lord's death, resurrection, and second coming. Moreover, the phrase reminds us of our short life on this earth and that our life with Jesus in the next is always imminent.

Holy Thursday offers an opportunity to reflect not only on the mysteries of the liturgy, but on the message of unity, peace, and fraternal charity given through the institution of the Blessed Sacrament. Every Mass calls to mind the Last Supper. In the Mass of Holy Thursday, however, the inextricable link between Christ's love for us in the Eucharist and the liturgy is especially pronounced.

It is crucial for Catholics to not view their Faith as something purely exterior. Catholics cannot merely "go through the motions" or keep up certain appearances and consider themselves faithful followers of Christ. Rather, it is necessary for Catholics to cultivate a strong interior life connected to God at all times if we wish to attain eternal life.

The parable of the Good Shepherd instructs us on the mercy of God and the dignity of man. Contrary to the recent declaration Dignitas Infinita, a proper understanding of the parable reveals that our dignity emanates from our relationship with God and our conformity with His plan for us.

"Every best gift, and every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor shadow of alteration." These words from the Epistle of St. James remind us that we live only by the gifts of God and that it is incumbent upon us to continually ask Our Lord for them.

The baptism ceremony symbolizes both the tomb where we are buried and arise again with Christ, and our new birth in Christ. In both images we find the shedding of our old life--the life of sin--so that we may have eternal life with God in His heavenly kingdom.

Two essential elements of deepening our relationship with God are time and personal contact. This is why it is important for us to attend Mass as often as possible and remove ourselves from the world to focus solely on Him.
