Strange Things with Chris James

Ever since airplanes began to cruise the skies, people have been seeing strange creatures where nothing should be able to live. Some of these beings were helpful, keeping the pilot company. Other began taking the plane apart, trying to make it crash. Here are a few accounts of encounters with things outside the airplane.

Jefferson is a tourist town with something for everyone. They have antiques, museums, B&Bs, restaurants, as well as ghosts, UFOs, and cryptids. A five star town with a lot of history.

Here are some of the highlights, and lowlights, from the 2024, Jefferson, Texas UFO Conference. Things did not go according to plans, as far as I was concerned. There was nothing wrong in Jefferson, it was the drive back that became...memorable. 

In 1966, a sowing machine salesman had a bizarre encounter with an alien. The alien said his name was Indrid Cold, the smile on his face never changed. Over the years, people have referred to him as the Smiling Man which is also a cryptid from more modern times. Here is what there is about both these beings, or, are they the same thing. 

Some folks have come out with some words that, upon closer examination, should have never been said. Some make no sense while others didn't say what they thought they were saying. Words have power, yet folks use them in ways that make the brain hurt. Here are a few people that should have thought twice and spoken once.

The folks in Washington just love spending our money on bizarre things. Here are a few projects that went...sideways.

A man, or being, dressed from head to foot in camouflage and a gas mask has been seen in the woods near Mauls Switzerland. He hung around for about ten years before vanishing. Along Route 351, people used to see a faceless man, called Charley No Face, walking along, late at night. He was also known as The Green Man. The Poe Toaster used to visit Edgar Allen Poe's grave and toast him early on January 19. Who was the North Pond Hermit and where did he come from. Here are some, out of the ordinary people, living their lives, outside the box.  

What is going on behind some people's eyes. They don't want to look at those around them. It is said, the eyes are windows to the sole. Can you really see what is going on in a person's mind by looking into their eyes. What happens if you stare into someone's eye for several minutes. How about recognizing criminals just by looking in their eyes. 

In January 2024 a bunch of giant aliens went shopping at an open air mall in Florida. The videos were all over the internet followed by stories of this being a bunch of kids gone wild. Nothing to see here, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. What was really going on in Miami? Would aliens go shopping on the first of the year, or any time for that matter. Here are my theories and nothing more. 

Over the years people have encountered creatures with human bodies and heads of some other being. Some of these creatures had the heads of humans and the bodies of animals. Here are a few sightings of things that shouldn't be found on our planet. 

As I was searching for other things, like the Luisiana Whistler, I came across several stories I just had to go into further. Things like what ever happened to Rudolf Diesel, the inventor of the engine. How about Ireland's Vanishing Triangle. The Circleville Writer, and the Catman of Greenock. There are some strange things going on around us. 

Some kids get a toy, play with it for a while, and move on to the next thing. Others get a toy, and it becomes part of their life. What happens when too much emotion is poured into an inanimate object. Where does all that energy go? There are many stories of dols becoming something other than a toy. 

Shortly after the American Civil War, folks began to enjoy the yellow fruit from South America. Bananas became very popular yet hard to find. They had to e grown, harvested, shipped, and purchased, all before they got too ripe to eat. When Costa Rica needed a railroad, the construction was traded for land. Soon bananas could be found in every store. So why did the CIA get involved in the process of growing and shipping fruit? I'll try to answer some dark questions, and hopefully entertain you a bit. 

People report encountering staircases in the middle of nowhere. These stairs go, up, or down, but there is never any structure for them to allow access to. Some of these steps are old and falling apart, while others look as if built yesterday. Is this just a hoax or is there something sinister going on in the deep, dark, woods. 

Carlos Casteneda wrote many books on subjects such as Indian teachings, using peyote to enhance the mind, transcendental meditation. He told people he was born in Brazil, yet he was from Peru. He told about his time learning from an old Indian named Don Juan, who was very wise in the ways of magic. In his books he talked about being able to turn into a bird and fly. He could walk through walls, and he knew things others were unaware of. Was Casteneda telling the truth or was he just making things up. 

There are some people out there who still claim Columbus discovered America. WE still celebrate his day with parades. Washington DC is named for him. There is an enormous pile of evidence showing others from Europe and Asia were here first. Let's take a look at some of the people who should be credited with finding our country. 

For centuries people have been finding livestock killed in mysterious ways. Sometimes there is little to no damage. Other times parts have been removed with precise incisions. Bodies are found completely drained of blood. There have been humans found as well. 

Some people believe the Earth is flat. They say this is the real reason we don't fall off the sides. Any photographic evidence is declared fake. Folks have gone to great lengths and expenses to prove we stand on a disc instead of a globe. Here are some of the ideas you van ponder and decide what you think. 

We have some folks living in Laredo that seem to be existing in their own private world. They talk to people the rest of us can't see. They behave in a manner most of us consider crazy. There are way too many Street People considering the size and location. 

Here is a humorous little video sent to me by Vic Hermanson, of Trailer Trash Terrors, and Paranormal Rundown. I've been saying Organic Man Coffee Trike is the best coffee in the universe, it would appear I'm right. 

Where does our mind go, late at night, while we slumber? Many cultures believe dreams come from the gods. Some dreams might be warnings of bad things in our futures. Here is what I could find about how our minds can be entertaining, or confusing. 

There aren't many companies that have their own army and navy. The East India Co. was granted the power to seize land, ships, and enslave people. They shipped tons of opium into China to control the public. They invaded parts of India in the name of making money. There never was, and hopefully never will be, a company like it. 

Many years ago, I was a paramedic. I had many hours of training in both emergency departments and ambulances before I became a Wilderness Medic. Here are some of the weird. unexpected, things I encountered while trying to save lives without getting killed. 

In times of war, people see and do unimaginable things. The rules no longer seem to apply. People have reported seeing and doing things the folks back home consider unbelievable. Here are a few stories from Europe during the conflict. 

In the 1500s, European sailors and explorers reported encountering giants, some up to twelve feet tall, in Patagonia, the southern tip of South America. The folks back home thought they were seeing things or outright lying. A giant was captured to take back as evidence, but it broke lose while out at sea. The crew was forced to kill him. The body was mummified using salt. When people saw this unbelievable creature, they decided Patagonia was not a safe place to visit. What amazed people about this huge man, was he had two heads. There is a body on display in Baltimore, many say it's a fake. Was the original creature real, or just a manufactured sideshow attraction? 

Some kids have invisible friends that come and play with them. Sometimes these friends are seen by others. Are these being all in the mind, or is there more to it.

I was asked about the Albatwitch, and the Vegetable Man. I'd never heard of either, so I did what I do, I researched. The Albatwitch is a small, hairy creature that eats apples. The Vegetable Man was an alien that attacked a man in 1975. I also looked into the Beast of Bladenboro, the Dark Watchers, and the Hodag.  Here are some little-known encounters with the strange. 

People have seen some weird things on our planet. Things the scientists say don't exist. Yet, people see them. Here are some things to watch out for, as you go about your day to day existence.

For thousands of years people have seen and wrote about, huge flying creatures that looked and sounded like dragons. Some feared these monsters while others considered them a part of nature. Listen up and see what you think. 

Right around 1915, the folks in Hollywood began working with the government to get the United States Citizens, ready to go to war. This endeavor continued during World War II. The military found recruitment improved when people were shown war movies. At some point, the people in Hollywood began disguising truth with fiction. Putting out secret projects as fiction so people would get the two confused. This is a confusing mess we live in today. 

How does dowsing, or using a pendulum work? Is there any real benefit in lucky charms? Why do people fear Friday the 13? I'll look into whether there is magic involved or is this some natural phenomena. 42 has more significance than Douglas Adams thought. 

For thousands of years people have been seeing creatures in or near the water that look like half human, half fish beings. Some have described them as monsters, that had huge mouths filled with sharp teeth. Others say these creatures were beautiful females. With so many sightings we have to wonder, is there a race living in the oceans that just might see us as a food source. 

Are there a bunch of soldiers stationed in space ships out watching for alien invaders? Some say this has been going on for decades. There are some who say the Nazis built a Moon Base back in 1942. Is this all just speculation, or is there one, or many, secret space programs going on around us.

Eric joins me from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, to talk about his book, "High Strangeness." A story about a UFO skeptic, who finds himself in the middle of an actual UFO flap. It's a fun read with a twist. 

Many folks say, Bigfoot is a flesh and blood creature. They ignore all the stories of Sasquatch vanishing from sight or being accompanied by bright lights or UFOs. Here are a few stories that add the paranormal to the mix. 

The ability to do things using Natural Power has been with us since recorded time. Some use the "Right Hand Path" for healing and helping others. Some go to the "Left" to gain power and do harm. Here is a brief rundown on magic and how it has been around forever. 

From 1950 up until 1991, the NATO nations and the Soviet Bloc nations were at war. No jets attacked each other's armies, no bombers rains death and destruction down on their cities. The "war" was cold. Massive weapons were stockpiles to a point the world could be wiped out dozens of times. Trillions of dollars were wasted on trying to get the upper hand. The only ones to benefit were the folks making weapons. Was there really a war or was it all done to scare us into following their orders. 

Do books hold power? Is fiction just a story to entertain? I'll look into some of the books out there that can let you travel through the universe, or control demons. 

What is waking people up at night, scarring them so badly, some...have died. Is the shadow government conducting mind control experiments which has led to deaths. Could there be demons sneaking about interfering with our lives. People have been injured by beings they couldn't see. Here are some stories to think about next time you awake to some mysterious sound. 

 Here is my third show on these mysterious creatures people report seeing all over our planet. Sometimes people see the shape with a hat on its head, other times they look like animals. What they are or why they're here, is hard to say. 

Do aliens, from some distant star system, live here on Earth? Maybe they use the Moon as a rest area, or an underground base? What would an alien being look like, and more important, why are they here. Here is my take on visitors, or more likely, are we the only living creatures in our Solar System.

People report seeing a huge, hair covered creature deep in the swamps around the United States. These things leave behind footprints that don't resemble any sasquatch. They have three or four toes, with claws. From the Honey Island, to Fouke Arkansas, here are a few stories. 

That "Lone Gunman" story just doesn't add up. The reason no one wanted to look into the Kennedy murder was the government began ridiculing anyone trying by calling their efforts, "Conspiracy Theories." Who had a reason to kill the president? Who was willing to help him?

There are some bizarre creatures running around in the country. Those who encounter them, wish they hadn't. Here are some stories from around the US, of folks who saw unbelievable things. 

Why do parents send their kids to bed with stories of monsters, hiding under their beds, and expect them to sleep at night?I just about every part of the world, weird creatures are out to get you if you don't behave. Not all Bogymen are there to terrorize children. There are a few that go after the parents who don't take care of their kids. 

On August 7, 1679, le Griffon was launched into Lake Erie. It managed to sail across Lake Huron, and Lake Michigan before being sunk in a storm. People have been searching for this wreck for hundreds of years, yet it is still a mystery as to where it might be.

Bizarre stories from all over Texas from the Wolfman of Marshal to the Owl Faced Monkey Panther of Beaumont. It sounds as if every school in Laredo is home to some spirit or other. 

There are some things out there that might just scary you into not wanting to step outside. From flying, blood sucking heads, to headless horsemen.  Things to make walking around at night a bit more thrilling just knowing you might not be alone. Get ready for Halloween by listening to some scary stories that are said to be true.

What are ghosts? Why are they here? If, they are just the soles of dead people, why do others fear them? I have no answers, but a few stories to get you ready for the 31. 

This is the second look at people who sustain themselves by drinking blood. All over the world, there are legends, stories, and real-life accounts of blood sucking creatures, some undead, and others still breathing. A little something to get you ready for Halloween. 

Back in the 1800s, they had no idea how to treat the folks with mental problems. Their best idea was to lock them up and hope they got better. Rhoda went from bad to worse until the people responsible for "taking care" of her locked her in a tiny box...for forty-four years. Here is her story. 

In England, they have a bizarre set of hairy hands that attack people driving or riding through the Dartmoor National Park. In the Americas, we have a hairy hand that hides under people's bed. What is i8t that people are seeing? Here is what I could find on this creepy item. 

Most people think of Poe as the writer of dark poetry. Few know he invented what we call Detective Stories today. He also wrote science fiction stories that inspired other writers such as Jules Verne and H G Wells. Here is the story few people know.

For thousands of years, people have tried to make contact with those who have passed on, to find out what the future might hold. At first, everyone had to employ those with special abilities. Some of these people were just in it for the money. Today we have electronic devices that are cheaper than ever. Here are some of the ways, the dead have been able to tell us about the other side. 

Who was Rudolf Hess and why was he kept in prison so long after World War II ended? Some say this was all simple revenge. Others say Rudolf Hess wasn't the one also known as Prisoner #7. Whoever he was, #7 had an entire prison to himself. Did he commit suicide, or was he murdered to keep some deep, dark secret from the light of day?

 Unknown objects are being found under the skin of folks all over the country. When removed, some of these odd items are giving off radio signals. No one knows what these things are made of or where they come from. Are they tracking devices, or used for mind control? Here is what is out there on alien implants.

The Boys in White Lab Coats say, we only use 10 % of our brains. What is the rest of it there to do? There have been cases of people receiving head trauma, followed by developing amazing, and bizarre abilities. How about being able to remember minute details, for years. I'll run through some examples of folks who seem to be using the parts of their brains we can't access. 

There are caves, all over the world. Some so deep, no one has ever explored them fully.  People have encountered strange creatures in or around these underground places. Here are a few good reasons to not go exploring.  

There are some things going on in our lives that are in place because groups of people in the past formed conspiracies to make themselves rich at our expense. Things like who owns our money? Why is modern medicine the way it is? What's up with the public school system? Here are the reasons things are the way they are. 

People report running into huge, hair covered creatures that look hungry. Standing seven or eight feet tall, they should be able to catch their pray, yet somehow, the witnesses get away. How can a person outrun a huge beast that lives and hunts in the woods? Here are a few ideas to consider. 

What happens that can cause a vehicle to become haunted. Maybe it's because someone died in it? How about vehicles no one died in? There are cars that become cursed? Why would a vehicle be cursed? Cars like James Dean's Little Bastard, or the Golden Eagle. Here are a few stories to give you something to think about as you're out looking at cars. 

There are a lot of people out there who don't believe Lee Harvey Oswald killed President Kennedy. The evidence presented is very persuasive. There are folks who don't believe we landed on the moon in 1969. How about all the money the government keeps "loosing?" Was 9/11 an inside job? There are those who think so. The Black Plague of 2020 was supposedly caused by someone eating a bat. Even that is being doubted these days. Here are a few conspiracy theories being talked about. 

 For thousands of years, people have been looking for an "Elixir of Life" that would extend their time here on Earth for hundreds of years if not forever. Alchemists looked for the Philosophers Stone. Count Saint Germain told people he was 500 years old. He said he had found the elixir of life. Here is what is known about this mysterious man.  

Under our feet, hundreds, maybe thousands of feet down, the military is tunnelling. They have been building underground bases since 1940. The need for secrecy is understandable, but it is said the bases are co-occupied by aliens from distant planets. Our tax dollars go to pay for everything, yet we get none of the benefits from whatever is going on down there. Here is what can be found on these secret installations. 

In 1969, a witness said he'd seen a strange shadowy figure, inside the cemetery. Soon others began to tell about their encounters with this being. When dead animals began to show up all around the neighborhood, people began to say there was a vampire in the graveyard. One man claimed to have killed the blood sucker by driving a stake through its heart. The body was burned destroying his evidence. For years the story of the Highgate Vampire appeared in newspapers and on TV.

In 1990, the Bulgarian Military began digging in a small village named Tsarichina, to the north-northwest of Sofia. The official story was, they were searching for the lost treasure of Czar Samuel. The military may have been looking for a crashed flying saucer, along with its pilot or pilots. Strange things were seen all around the dig site. A few men went missing, only to be found dead, the next day. Something attacked the people exploring below the town, killing a few and driving at least one to commit suicide. Some call this the Bulgarian Roswell.

When one person sees a UFO, it could be explained as an overactive imagination. When a group of people see a UFO, what can possibly be the answer, other than, we are not alone. Here are a few mass sightings that should convince anyone there is something in our skies not of this Earth.

Who invented the first Talking Board? How did they come up with the idea? No one knows. Many people have had otherworldly experiences while using, or right after using this cardboard and plastic "game."  Here is what we do know about this thing some say is just a toy while others say it's a tool of the devil.

People report seeing a huge, winged creature all over the United States. The creature is described as have a human like body, wings like a bat, and it looks like the Creeper from the movie, "Jeepers Creepers." Here are a few stories to make you look over your shoulder while walking around at night.

Stories abound of encounters with Indians with blond hair and blue eyes. There are stone forts in Georgia and Tennessee, said to have been built by Welshmen. Luis and Clark were shown skeletons with metal breastplates. The Mandan Indians spoke many Welsh words and lived in villages laid out like European towns. The "Columbus Discovered America" crowd still refuse to accept, there were many people visiting the Americas long before 1492. 

All throughout the Polynesian Triangle you will find representations of Tiki. Some legends say Tiki was a god while others say he was the first man. There are stories about how some of these statues are possessed by spirits. Here is the legends behind these statues and ornaments. 

Over the years people have come together to kill each other. Some places of violent conflict have retained the spirits of those who fought and died. Here are just a few haunted locations where the battles are still being fought. 

People have seen ghosts, and on occasion, heard from ghosts. How about people, whose lives were saved because a ghost interceded on their behalf. Here are a few stories of encounters with ghosts where the witness, sometimes witnesses, lived because the dead came to save them. 

Smoke can mean a lot of things to different people. Dreams about smoke can tell you how your life is going. People use smoke to cleans themselves and their homes. By watching incense burn, you can predict the future. Here are some things to make you think next time you see smoke. 

Right after World War II, Nazi scientists were being recruited into both sides of the Cold War. Some, if not all of these folks, were war criminals. They had been conducting experiments on humans with some nasty outcomes. In an effort to gain the upper hand, some illegal immoral and physically dangerous things were done. Here is just a small account of some of these crimes.

What is a curse and how does it work? What source of power is being drawn on to make a curse do what its originator wants? There have been too many times when a curse has caused death and destruction. Here is something to think about. 

Since the Chinese weather balloons made the news, there have been a lot of sightings reported. Here is a rundown on what I could find that didn't make me doubt the government more then I already do. What are people seeing and why do the folks in charge want to ignore them?
