Onkgopotse Seatle-Maitse is a Fashion designer and also an accounting graduate from the The University of Johannesburg. At present she’s the founder and creative director of Angalia Apparel.
She decided to launch her clothing label Angalia Apparel in January 2017. “Angalia” meaning to “to see” or “to envision”. Angalia styles women in African contemporary clothing, the brand incorporates a lot of prints and colour, mainly using African textiles like Ankara, chitenge, kitenge and shweshwe. The clothing line caters to women that want to stand out. Confident women that want to make a change in the world and cement themselves as world leaders. Mainstreaming African clothing and demonstrating that you can incorporate African prints and style in the everyday life and not just for traditional events.
Angalia received an opportunity for retail expansion in June 2017 by The Space store. The clothes at present are available at Mall of Africa, Rosebank The Zone, Menlyn, Pavilion and Canal Walk. Soon the clothes will also be available at Cresta and Gateway as well. When Angalia initially started, it was outsourcing its production and in 2018 established its own CMT. Super Power Podcast- Season 1 Episode 1
Ayanda is a qualified CA(SA) with approximately ten years of experience in the Auditing and Finance field. She completed her BCom Accounting Honours at the University of Johannesburg in 2009, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2012.
Ayanda began her career at Deloitte where she completed her articles and later became an Audit Manager. In 2015, Ayanda moved to Barloworld Equipment where she fulfilled the role of Financial Manager for just under three years. From thereon Ayanda was promoted to Country Financial Director of Barloworld Equipment in Botswana where she was responsible for the full financial function of the company and led the Finance team in Botswana. Most recently moved back to South Africa to join RS Components South Africa as Financial Director.
She is an extrovert with very high-energy levels. She believes every moment in her life is a gift worth celebrating. She spends most of her time with her family, she has two beautiful nieces who take up most of her time. She is a social runner and loves watching soccer. She is totally obsessed over fast cars.
I loved talking to Ayanda, so much that I had to break her interview into 2 parts. In this session, she discusses her background, and how she was able to deal with failure at school. She was able to conquer and achieve her goals, even if it took longer than anticipated. What she has taught me is that only YOU can decide when to stop, and if you have reason enough, you will be able to deal with whatever life deals you.
