Latta, DMD, M.S., is Dean Emeritus and Professor of General Dentistry at the Creighton University School of Dentistry.  He served as dean of the School from 2011 to 2021. He continues to contribute as an individual teacher/scholar with his own research and teaching and by collaborating internationally in research and teaching. Prior to being appointed dean, he served as the associate dean for research at Creighton from 1995-2011. He is a graduate of Lafayette College, Easton PA (BA Chemistry), University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Philadelphia PA (DMD), York Hospital York, PA (General Practice Residency) and University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, Baltimore MD (MS, Oral Biology). Following 4 years in private dental practice Dr. Latta joined the Laboratory Products Division of Dentsply International-now Dentsply/Sirona. He served numerous roles in Research and Development for the company ultimately serving as the Director of R&D. During his industrial career, he contributed to or was responsible for more than 20 new dental product introductions.   He has been awarded more than 120 research grants investigating prosthetic materials, dental restorative materials, dental adhesives and cements. He has led numerous clinical trials of dental materials. He is a speaker and lecturer of international renown and has published more than 130 manuscripts and 200 abstracts and has presented at numerous state, national and international dental association meetings throughout the world. Dr. Latta, is a fellow in the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists, and a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national honorary dental society. In this week's Dental Handoff, Dr. Kelly Tanner welcomes in the great Dr. Adamo Notarantonio! Dr. Adamo Notarantonio is a graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine (2002), where he received honors in both removable and fixed prosthodontics.  He completed his residency in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program at Stony Brook in 2003, and was chosen by faculty to complete a second year as Chief Resident. Dr. Adamo was accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (“AACD”) in 2011, and recently received his Fellowship in the AACD. He is the only Accredited Fellow in New York State, and the 80th person worldwide to achieve this honor. He was further honored by the Academy when asked to serve as President of the AACD, and also consultant and examiner for the Accreditation and Fellowship processes. Dr. Adamo is a graduate of the Kois Center, where he studied under Dr. John Kois. He also has completed The Dawson Academy Core Curriculum. Dr. Adamo has received his fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He has been published in multiple dental journals and lectures nationally and internationally on such topics as CAD/CAM dentistry, implant dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, composite dentistry and dental photography. Dr. Adamo also volunteers his time at the NYU College of Dentistry where he is a Clinical Instructor in the Honors Aesthetics Program.In July, Dr Adamo was invited to join the faculty at the prestigious Kois Center in Seattle, Washington. She attended dental school at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. She graduated in 2018 and completed an AEGD residency in 2019. During dental school, she became involved in organized dentistry and served in various leadership roles including President of the American Student Dental Association. After graduating, she returned to El Paso and practices outside of the city at La Clinica de Familia (FQHC) where she serves as a Dental Director for the site. She also serves as a part-time faculty member at the Woody L Hunt School of Dental Medicine. She was recently named the Texas New Dentist of the Year. She has continued her involvement in organized dentistry by serving in numerous roles with organizations including the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Hispanic Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Texas Academy of General Dentistry, and the El Paso District Dental Society. Mrs. Mesimer’s educational journey began with an Associate of Applied Science Degree from Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke, Virginia in 1997. She later earned a Bachelor of Health Science with a minor in Human Services Counseling and a Master of Science in Community Health from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. She earned her bachelor's degree in 2000 and her master’s degree in 2007. Misty is currently a PhD candidate in the Community College Leadership Program at Old Dominion University. Mrs. Mesimer has been a member of the Germanna Community College faculty since 1999. Her current roles include Program Director for Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene. Misty has been an active member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association since 1994. She has served her colleagues as VDHA Legislative Chair and President. Mrs. Mesimer is a member of the Virginia Allied Dental Program Director’s Consortium and the American Dental Educators’ Association. Mrs. Mesimer was appointed to the Virginia Board of Dentistry in July 2004 by Governor Mark Warner and served two consecutive terms. In June 2018, Ms. Mesimer became a site visitor for the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation. In 2020-2021, she served as the chair for the ADEA Dental Assisting Section. In 2021 – 2022, she served as a member of the ADEA Workgroup revising Entry-Level Competencies for Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, and Dental Lab Technologists. She is currently chair of the ADEA Special Interest Group for Dental Hygiene Clinic Coordinators. Misty has been honored by her colleagues in receiving various awards since 2000. These include the VDHA Outstanding Member Award and the Patricia A. Golliday Award of Dedication. In 2002, Misty received the Advocate of the Year Award from the ARC of the Rappahannock for her significant contributions to the welfare of people with mental retardation. She has been recognized multiple times for her leadership, management, and community service at Germanna Community College. Latta, DMD, M.S., is Dean Emeritus and Professor of General Dentistry at the Creighton University School of Dentistry. He served as dean of the School from 2011 to 2021. He continues to contribute as an individual teacher/scholar with his own research and teaching and by collaborating internationally in research and teaching. Prior to being appointed dean, he served as the associate dean for research at Creighton from 1995-2011. He is a graduate of Lafayette College, Easton PA (BA Chemistry), University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Philadelphia PA (DMD), York Hospital York, PA (General Practice Residency) and University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, Baltimore MD (MS, Oral Biology). Following 4 years in private dental practice Dr. Latta joined the Laboratory Products Division of Dentsply International-now Dentsply/Sirona. He served numerous roles in Research and Development for the company ultimately serving as the Director of R&D. During his industrial career, he contributed to or was responsible for more than 20 new dental product introductions. He has been awarded more than 120 research grants investigating prosthetic materials, dental restorative materials, dental adhesives and cements. He has led numerous clinical trials of dental materials. He is a speaker and lecturer of international renown and has published more than 130 manuscripts and 200 abstracts and has presented at numerous state, national and international dental association meetings throughout the world. Dr. Latta, is a fellow in the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists, and a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national honorary dental society. In this week's Dental Handoff LIVE from SmileCon, Dr. Kelly interviews Dr. Gordon Christensen, who shares his years of experiences and insights for both patients and practices. Gordon J. Christensen is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Practical Clinical Courses (PCC), Chief Executive Officer of Clinicians Report Foundation (CR), and a Practicing  Prosthodontist in Provo, Utah.  Gordon and Dr. Rella Christensen are co-founders of the non-profit CLINICIANS REPORT  FOUNDATION (previously named CRA). Currently, Dr. Rella Christensen is the Director of  the TRAC Research Division of the CR Foundation. Since 1976, they have conducted  research in all areas of dentistry and published the findings to the profession in the well-known  CRA Newsletter now called CLINICIANS REPORT.  Gordon's degrees include: DDS, University of Southern California; MSD, University of  Washington; PhD, University of Denver; and two honorary doctorates.  Early in his career, Gordon helped initiate the University of Kentucky and University of Colorado  dental schools and taught at the University of Washington.   Currently, he is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Utah, School of Dentistry. Gordon has  presented thousands of hours of continuing education globally, made hundreds of educational  videos used throughout the world, and published widely.   Gordon and Rella's sons are dentists. William is a Prosthodontist, and Michael is a General  Dentist.
