Anshu qualified from the University of Sheffield in 1998, went on to vocational training in Nottinghamshire, and then worked as a junior doctor in oral and maxillofacial surgery at United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust.

Anshu then moved to London to work at the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute and also Great Ormond Street. She ended up moving back to Sheffield to train as an orthodontist and qualified in 2006. Since then Anshu has been working in specialist practice.  Co-owner of two specialists practices, one a tender bid and one a private squat, she is well versed in the business of orthodontics.

Anshu is a Speaker for Invialign and Dental monitoring, being a keen user of dental technology and innovation.  She is also heavily involved with the British Orthodontic Society and has been since 2007 holding various posts on committees and now being on the Board of Trustees as Director of Clinical Practice. She has most recently been part of the Safemile campaign to educate patients on the risks of Direct to Consumer Orthodontics.

She always wanted to be a marine biologist and is an advanced PADI qualified scuba diver. Her aspiration remains to go diving with great white sharks. Just now, though, she enjoys yoga, reading, travelling and socialising.

She has 19 years’ experience as a joint partner in a private dental practice in Berkshire, and completed a Masters in Medical Ethics and Law from King’s College London in 2013. She is also a certified member of the Institute of Risk Management and completed a Level 7 Certificate in Leadership Mentoring and Coaching in 2016.

In this episode Mark & Justin speak to Chris Barrow.

Chris has been active as a consultant, trainer and coach to the UK dental profession for over 25 years.

Although age 68, Chris has no plans to retire and promises that he will be working in dentistry for many years to come.

Chris spent the first 17 years of his working life in the corporate sector and followed this with 33 years of running small private businesses. The different dynamics of both worlds have given him the valuable gift of knowing how to operate – and communicate – in both.

In 1993, Chris decided to make the transition from financial services to business coaching and became one of the first UK students at Coach University, from where he graduated as a certified coach.

Recognising the opportunity in the dental profession, 1997 saw the creation of The Dental Business School (DBS) and the development of a 12-month business coaching program for dental practice owners and their teams, delivered to over 1,000 UK dental practices in the following 10 years.

As a sought-after public speaker, he is dynamic, energetic and charismatic. As a writer, his blog enjoys a strong following and he is a regular contributor to the dental press.

Chris is an advisor to the dental charities Bridge2Aid and The Mouth Cancer Foundation.

In 2014 he appeared as a “castaway” in the first season of the popular reality TV show “The Island with Bear Grylls”.

His main professional focus now is through his Extreme Business company, providing coaching and mentorship to independent dentistry around the world via virtual consultancy, practice visits, a workshop programme and an online learning platform.

During the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, Chris created a Regeneration Coaching Programme, helping practices to survive lockdown and to bounce back higher following their return to work.

He now offers “The Extreme Business 100” - working with just 100 dental businesses each year, to help them grow profits by 100% in 36 months.

Chris is a marathon runner, a long-distance cyclist and enjoys extreme adventures, preferably in places where there is no internet available!

Chris is a general dentist with a special interest in cosmetic and sedation dentistry. He has a broad working dental background having worked in specialist hospital units as well as high street practice both in the UK and Australia. 

He is also an appointed “opinion leader” for a multi-national dental company, speaks extensively and trains dentists in advanced cosmetic techniques throughout the UK. Chris is one of only a handful of dentists in the UK to have trained with the Royal College of Surgeons in Advanced Implant dentistry.

Chris leads his practice in St Piran, Cornwall where there is an intentional focus on the patient and providing the best experience possible.
