“The team at Facebook IQ has compiled its first-ever annual report to help marketers plan for the year ahead. In The Annual Topics and Trends Report, we share some of the conversations that have been on the rise in 2017 and that we anticipate will take hold in 2018.
Due to the size of the Facebook platform, we have a unique vantage point to see which conversations are growing at scale and taking hold, and which are simply a flash in the pan. Our findings are grounded in real data and real insights from the 2 billion people across Facebook.
The trends we feature are starting to take hold and enter the mainstream. This is not necessarily their point of conception, but rather as they are going from niche to norm.
These are the trends people are talking about, that the market is ready for and you should consider, as you think about creative planning and product development.”

An initiative that Amazon rolled out to expand its reach in Rural and semi rural areas by partnering with offline partners. Started in May 2015. We discussed the What, Why, How, Who and partners for the Project Udaan The 119th episode of Digital India Podcast on FIR Podcast Network is brought to you by staff and students of Web Marketing Academy The following was originally posted in ET Started in May 2015, Amazon rolled out Project Udaan to expand its reach in rural and semi-urban areas by tying up with offline partners such as kirana, medical stores and mobile shopping outlets so that local entrepreneurs could assist the uninitiated in shopping online. What started with just two partners, including business correspondent Vakrangee, which also acts as a last-mile link to villages, and 15 stores across two locations in Maharashtra and Rajasthan has now penetrated deeper into the hinterland. (A business correspondent is authorised to collect small deposits and extend credit on behalf of banks.)
Wooing the Village
Udaan now boasts 18 partners, 6,000 stores, delivery in 1,700 pin codes across 650 locations in 21 states and union territories. The target for next month, before Diwali, is to scale up to 10,000 stores. The results are beginning to show: some 75% of new customers for Amazon come from tier-III cities and smaller towns and villages. That share can only grow once Amazon rolls out one-of-its-kind exclusive outlets with assisted ecommerce platform StoreKing in rural Karnataka. (Tier-II, -III and -IV comprise semi-urban centres, and tier-V and -VI rural centres.) The Jio Phone’s effective price is Rs 0, that means to buy this phone you have to pay Rs. 1,500 which is fully refundable after 3 years. Plans start at Rs.153 with unlimited data, voice, and SMS per month. However, the voice will be always free.
The company has also provided two sachet packs, at Rs. 24 for two days, or Rs. 54 per week, for users who don’t want to commit to Rs. 153 as an upfront payment. It has an SOS feature as well, which can be activated by pressing 5. The Phone also supports for NFC that enables quick payments, and the ability to cast content.
One interesting feature we see here is JioTV which has the support of mirroring your screen on a TV, via a cable that can even be plugged into CRT TVs, which come with a plan of Rs.309 per month called as Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer. The other interesting thing is phone also responds to voice commands, which is unprecedented for a feature phone anywhere in the world. The beta testing of the phone is from August 15 and pre booking starts from August 24. We can expect the phone to go on sale from the first week of September.
We think Jio’s initial impact has been more in urban/rural areas as Ambani Said No Indians should suffer because of unaffordability. We talked about the how this feature phone will have an impact in Digital Marketing World.

How I survived during uncertainty? You can too…… – Suresh babu 2005. I didn’t have a place to stay…. When I was Florida, I was working in a Gas station, met a person who comes regularly to the gas station. She told me that she is in an emergency had to leave to another state and she asked me if I can move into her apartment and continue with her lease, a few days passed the security came and asked me to vacate the apartment since I don’t have a lease on my leave. I moved all my stuff in my car, didn’t have money to lease an apartment, stayed in a motel and lived in my car for a few days. I was working part time as a web marketer, my boss John and Priscilla noticed that my car was packed, they asked me and I told the situation, they gave me one room in their house asked me to move in until the situation is taken care of, till date, I am grateful to John and Priscilla. This led me to be dedicated, the craving to learn new things in digital. I invested my time in learning and implementing and that was my foundation for where I am today.Free Resources to get started in Digital Marketing:

businesstoday.in/magazine/ issue/january152017 . The 94th episode of Digital India Podcast on FIR Podcast Network is brought to you by staff and students of Web Marketing Academy
In this issue we took a particular story and discussed that story in the podcast: A tale of two villagesGujarats Akodara has turned cashless, while nearby Daramali has gone smart – by P.B. Jayakumar
We discussed how a village with a population of less than 2000 become the Country’s First Digital Cashless Village and it has Wi-Fi, while almost every household has either a tablet or a laptop. Around 70 per cent of Daramali’s residents have smartphones. We went thru some of those stats and what we can learn about consistency, adapting change. A hostel for cattle :) Here are some snippets from the Business Today Jan 2017 Issue: “Akodara and Daramali, two villages in Sabarkantha district, Gujarat, separated by about 25 km, are similar in many respects. Both have a population of less than 2,000, with Patels as the dominant caste. The Patels own on average one to five acres of land and 20-30 heads of cattle. Both villages cultivate the same crops – cotton, wheat and castor – and have a literacy rate of around 90 per cent. But while both are pioneers in their own way, Akodara is nationally renowned while Daramali remains obscure”. Source: http://www.businesstoday.in/magazine/ features/gujarats-akodara-has- turned-cashless-while-nearby- daramali-has-gone-smart/story/ 243005.html . “Akodara has been much lauded as the country’s first ‘digital, cashless village‘, its achievement endorsed by none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself on January 5, 2015, when he ‘dedicated’ the village to the nation. But little-known Daramali’s achievement is perhaps more impressive, as it has shown how a focused grampanchayat led by a woman sarpanch can, despite limited resources, usher in digital ‘smartness’ . The 87th episode of Digital India Podcast on FIR Podcast Network is brought to you by staffs and students of Web Marketing Academy
Do you know that content writers, bloggers, content developers … spend more time creating awesome titles than the actual content piece? Do you know why?
According to one of the most shared articles on Copyblogger, one of the best sites to follow if you’re in the content writing and publishing business (Who isn’t nowadays, anyway?), titled Writing Headlines That Get Results:
“According to some of the best copywriters of all time, you should spend half of the entire time it takes to write a piece of persuasive content on the headline. So if you have a blog post that is really important to you or your business, one that you really want people to read, you should downright obsess over your post title.”

According to Koechley, tests show that traffic to content at Upworthy can vary by as much as 500% simply because of the headline. When Neil Patel tweaked the headline on a Kissmetrics post he was able to boost the conversion rate by 40%. By its choice of phrasing, a headline can influence your mindset as you read so that you later recall details that coincide with what you were expecting. http://www.huffingtonpost.in/anil-nair/bangalores-the- worlds-most-dynamic-city-but- its-still-far/ Here is a snippet from Huffington post India: It was heartening to see Namma Bengaluru recently placed at the top of a global ranking of cities. The JLL City Momentum Index has ranked Bengaluru as the most dynamic city in the world, ahead of Silicon Valley and Shanghai. Hyderabad also features in the top 10 list at the fifth position. The results of the rankings are in line with the view held by many of the leaders of the e-commerce giants that are based here, who vouch for the fact that Bengaluru is the destination of choice for new generation companies. However, they also agree that this is due to a combination of factors, primarily the moderate weather and the abundance of skilled labour due to the established IT ecosystem.

According to an article by Barry Schwartz, published on Search Engine Land, future thinking points for the search marketing community in 2017 are: machine learning, AMP and structured data. This information was given out by Gary Illyes, Webmaster Trends Analyst at Google.
If you’ve been in the digital marketing space and working on SEO for a while, you would most certainly know what structured data is and why Google and other search engines recommend we use it.
People understand the underlying meaning of your web content but search engines have a limited understanding. By providing additional cues with extra HTML tags, search engines and other applications better understand your content and display it in a useful, relevant way.

The 73rd episode of Digital India Podcast on FIR Podcast Network is brought to you by staff and students of Web Marketing Academy
It’s a little past mid-October and it’s raining festive offers here in India. We have Diwali, the festival of lights, coming up this week. The last few months had some important festivals as well. As you can imagine, retailers, both online and offline are doing all they can to acquire new customers and maximize sales.
But we have offers going on almost through the year nowadays and e-commerce platforms have been strictly forbidden to offer discounts below minimum operational price (MOP) & comply with FDI regulations. Has this shift affected the appeal of festive offers for Indians? Are vendors and retailers feeling the pinch? That’s the discussion for today. Links Do buyers still wait for festive offers to buy homes? iPhone 6s sales slowed down in the period of September as customers waited for festival discounts Panasonic ups marketing budget for festive season in 2016 Amazon beats Flipkart revenue in festive season Amazon’s I Have Space program How do agencies prepare for festive offers? If we’re talking about Facebook, there are various formats of posts but most people stick to just images, videos and carousel. There’s a lot to experiment. You can add notes, this again is a feature most people aren’t using. You can have polls and then there’s also Facebook’s live feature. Then there’s also a feature called ‘frames’ that helps in brand awareness. Go to Facebook camera effects – create an account, it will automatically fetch your page and ask you to create a frame, here you upload your created frame – add the proper title, description and keywords. Now, coming to Facebook Messenger, many features like we see on Instagram or Snapchat and also has an additional features like cutting a video. FB messenger tool is sufficient to create an instant picture. If you have a page on Facebook, you can target audience organically too under Preferred Page audience or you can also restrict or exclude audience. Another feature for pages is Branded Content – request from the brand you want to partner with – request FB to add this feature to your page – brand associations.Important Tools for Facebook

Wed, 28 Mar 2018 - 38min - 134 - HOW THEY DID IT : 50,000 REGISTRATION FOR INDIA’S LARGEST HACKATHONComing up with a marketing plan on paper and practically applying it is not the same. I’m sure a lot of you who have been part of this scenario can relate. And this is exactly what Mr. Narendhiran, Marketing Manager, Hacker’s Earth shares with us in this Podcast. The 145th episode of Digital India Podcast on FIR Podcast Network is brought to you by staff and students of Web Marketing Academy Mr. Narendhiran was responsible for coming up with a marketing plan for an event – ‘India’s biggest Hackathon’. He talks about the various ‘hiccups’ he came across starting from proposing the plan. He didn’t think of considering the budget before proposing the plan to his manager. This may sound amateur to us but, Mr. Narendhiran expresses how every mistake had helped him learn, grow and explore. He mentions how and why he chose the platforms; be it E-mail, Google’s Display Network, Facebook, Linkedin or Twitter. He even explained what offline channels he chose and its impact on the changes that reflected in analytics. How he was able to use IFTTT for Google Display Network to solve another ‘hiccup’ he encountered and got approx. 1200 results from it. He takes us through every decision he took (offline or online), why he took it and what impact it had. Though he achieved the set goals through his marketing campaigns, Mr. Narendhiran talks excitedly about the mistakes and problems he stumbled upon and the hacks it led to. One learns more from the mistakes he makes than the success he achieves. The only flaw with the mistakes you make is not learning something new. And Mr. Narendiran’s humble learnings encourage us to make new mistakes so we are encouraged to explore more. Thu, 22 Mar 2018 - 1h 05min - 133 - DESIGN THINKING, A PRIMARY TOOL FOR MARKETERS AND Cx PROFESSIONALS WITH DAVESuresh Babu of Web Marketing Academy India and William David McCann discuss how to truly add value to a customer’s purchase journey, without inundating them with spam. The 144th episode of Digital India Podcast on FIR Podcast Network is brought to you by staff and students of Web Marketing Academy Podcast Summary: Customer Experience is not customer service, customer success, or sales. It’s the the sum of all interactions a customer has with an organization beginning from awareness of a need, through purchase and usage. The modern customer, whether in India, Canada, or Japan has counter-measures to block out corporate marketing efforts. Why do they do this? Because of an avalanche of SMS’s, emails, and targeted advertising. Strategies like content marketing allow the modern marketer to present useful information when the customer is looking for it, and is structured to put the customer in control of when and how they receive the information. Understand how your customer thinks and feels, know what she says and does, then compile this into a customer persona, and map their experience using a customer journey map. Armed with this kind of information, a content marketing strategy will add real value to your customers, build awareness, and maximize conversions.
