  • 263 - The Old Lady Speaks, Episode 260: Juventus’ run of draws unfortunately rolls on

Juventus’ run of consecutive draws coming out of the international break has only continued, with Sunday’s 1-1 result against Lecce providing us with another example of what this team’s current limitations currently are amidst a massive injury crunch. On Episode 260 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: No takeaways from the week that was. Instead, we vent a little bit. Juventus’ draw against Lecce was not like the previous two draws over the past week or so. That’s both because of how bad Lecce have been and how it all came about. What has gone wrong of late? And is there anything that can be done by Thiago Motta to try and get something to change for the better even with all of the injuries? A look at the Champions League table and overall situation ahead of facing Manchester City in 10 days following the scoreless draw with Aston Villa. Questions from social media — including just who is to blame for Juventus’ injury crisis and why exactly Motta decided to take out Federico Gatti in the second half against Lecce. • 262 - The Old Lady Speaks, Episode 259: No 9s, no goals for Juventus against AC Milan

With Dusan Vlahovic back in Turin with a muscle injury he picked up during the international break, Juventus’ attack was rather quiet as Thiago Motta tried to make a false nine setup work against Milan. In short, it didn’t work. On Episode 259 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: Takeaways from Juventus’ scoreless draw with Milan. We know Juventus weren’t playing with a natural No. 9. So what went wrong with who Thiago Motta chose to play in that position? Basically, the Teun Koopmeiners experiment as a false nine did not work at all. Was there anything that Juventus actually did well against Milan? (Maybe!) Juventus also have a big game in the Champions League against Aston Villa coming. So what the heck is going to happen if they are without Dusan Vlahovic again? Social media questions for the week — including how happy Juve should be with a point against Milan rather than getting a win in a very winnable game, and what is becoming the biggest priority when the January transfer window arrives knowing that the injuries just keep on coming in both attack and defense. • 261 - The Old Lady Speaks, Episode 258: The Pogba 2.0 era is officially over at Juventus

The expected has finally happened, as Juventus announced that they have agreed to part ways with Paul Pogba by mutual consent in the aftermath of his doping suspension being reduced from four years to 18 months. On Episode 258 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: The Friday news dump we all expected at some point: Juventus and Paul Pogba have agree to mutually terminate his contract after his doping suspension was reduced from four years to 18 months. Before the Pogba news dropped, Juventus got more bad news on the injury front, with fullback Juan Cabal suffering a torn ACL on international duty with Colombia. Juventus’ first game out of the international break is the second trip to San Siro in a little over a month, as Thiago Motta’s squad will look to take the momentum of two straight wins into the final stretch of the 2024 calendar year. Questions for the crew — including what our fondest memories of Pogba at Juventus, what the long-term vision for young midfielders like Nicolo Fagioli and Fabio Miretti might be, what’s stopping Dusan Vlahovic from having a bigger impact at Juventus and what would be the preferred January transfers be. • 260 - The Old Lady Speaks, Episode 257: Juventus head into the break with some wind in their sails

A win over Torino in the first Derby della Mole of the 2024-25 season and a second straight win in Serie A gave Juventus some much-needed momentum heading into the November international break. On Episode 257 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: Takeaways from the Juventus week that was. Thoughts on Juventus’ win over Torino in the Derby della Mole. As Dusan Vlahovic continues to be an enigma at the top of Juve’s attack, the other forwards on Thiago Motta’s roster have started to hit a rich vein of form and carried the goal scoring load of late. Manuel Locatelli is back to being good again. Andrea Cambiaso continues to be one of Juventus’ best players this season. The new-look Champions League has the “league phase” at its midway point. So how are Juventus looking knowing that there still a good number of big fixtures remaining? Twitter questions — including Moise Kean’s red-hot start to life at Fiorentina, if it’s better to have one or two big-time goal scorers or if it’s better to have a much more balanced outlay of goals, and what are the least and most concerning things about the state of Juventus as we head into the November international break. • 259 - The Old Lady Speaks, Episode 256: Juventus get back on track in Udine

Coming off a sub-par showing against one of Serie A’s new clubs, Juventus were able to right the ship with a much-needed win over Udinese that saw some positives take place after some worrying signs earlier in the week. On Episode 256 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: Takeaways from the week that was. Thoughts on Juventus’ win over Udinese, which was a much more enjoyable watch tnan Juve’s 2-2 draw with Parma earlier in the week. The improving form of midfielders like Manuel Locatelli and Khephren Thuram. The not-so-improving form of Juve captain Danilo. Are we starting to worry about Dusan Vlahovic’s lack of consistent goal scoring form again? Twitter questions — including what things might look like when things fully click on with Teun Koopmeiners and the rest of the midfield, why hasn’t Thiago Motta entrusted a young player to potentially back up Dusan Vlahovic like he’s done with other players on the roster, and just how much of a priority is a signing in centrel defense come the January transfer window.
