In this conversation with Debi Lewis, Enneagram 4, we discuss the Ennea-Dragons and yoga. Ennea-Dragon 1. The Reformer / Perfectionist, who wants so much to be a good dragon, in spite of his/her reputation for throwing fire in frustration from time to time. Ennea-Dragon 2. The Helper / Giver, who wants so much to love and be loved, and finds that he often gives too much and then ends up being resentful and exhausted. Ennea-Dragon 3. The Achiever, who strives for success and mastery, and finds that he is often so consumed by this drive to succeed, aren't dragons all supposed to hoard piles of gold? Ennea-Dragon 4. The Individualist, who feels different and alone so often, is often paralyzed so much that he hides out in the hills and is hard to find. Ennea-Dragon 5. The Investigator, who feels safest when he understands the Ways of Life and Dragons in Great Detail. This dragon is very educated and knowledgeable, and since dragons are known to live a long time, has spent a good deal of it collecting information. Ennea-Dragon 6. The Loyalist, who struggles with anxiety and is a Worst Case Scenario expert, and therefore is very organized and alert for any hint of trouble. Ennea-Dragon 7. The Enthusiast. You would think that this dragon doesn't have a care in the world. Flitting and frolicking and always ready for a fun time. Ennea-Dragon 8. The Boss, who loves a good fight and can breathe fire masterfully. Ennea-Dragon 9. The Peacemaker wants above all else to avoid conflict and to be surrounded by peace. A portion of Indra's bio from his website-As an adult I have been a seeker and devotee on the spiritual path for more than 40 years. I began studying astrology in the early 1970's, in my mid 20's, first attracted to its numerical and mystical nature. It was at this time that I also first read The Holy Science, written by Sri Yukteswar, and started learning about the Yugas. I became a disciple of the well known Indian master, Paramahansa Yogananda, and spent 20 years living in a spiritual community in California experiencing deep lessons in discipleship and Indian philosophy. In 1999 my life changed in many ways. First, I was introduced to the Enneagram and began an in-depth study of this fascinating modality. Mon, 30 Jan 2023 - 51min - 75 - Part 4 Lisa New Year Episode Personal Growth for Types 7, 8 and 9
In this Enneagram +Yoga podcast episode, Kat and Christy interview Lisa McBryde @lamcbryde about practices that can help Enneagram types 7, 8, and 9 experience personal growth. Lisa was born and raised a country girl from Jasper, Tennessee and was the son her Dad never had. She wanted to be a nurse for as long as I could remember and followed that dream to become a RN in 1982. Her specialty was Oncology and she administered chemotherapy to cancer patients and supported them in a very difficult time. Over 30 years ago she "fell" into yoga and like nursing it also became a passionate calling. Lisa tries to teach in such a way that she pushes the student, yet encourages them to feel a connection with every breath they take. She says she is a Type A personality and owns it 100% and so the yin part of her practice was initially a challenge, but now is such a welcome release. Her first certification was with Yoga Alliance. She had initially been teaching in the fitness industry and this option was part of that discipline. She met Sara Mingus and she steered her toward 200 hour teacher training with Dolly Starvos. Dolly and Lisa really connected and her eyes and mind were opened to so many things. This discipline called yoga serves its students individually and meets them where they are. She then completed Level I training with Baron Baptiste and learned so much about sequencing and assisting. She loves assisting and believes human touch is an integral part of the practice. What started as flexibility training to balance cardio and weight training, has led to this awareness of the breath, the mind and the body, as one, and no two days are the same. Several years ago she stepped out on her own to experience something different when she discovered a love and passion for fly fishing as it takes you to beautiful, calm places but forces you to focus. She is a confident, compassionate woman, and mother, who truly loves serving others. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christy001/support

Wed, 09 Nov 2022 - 51min - 63 - The Wisdom of Brené Brown for Types 8 & 9 With Holly Wade, LCSW, Yoga Teacher, & Enneagram 7
During today's episode we talk with Holly Wade, LCSW and Enneagram 7 about The Wisdom of Brené Brown & the Enneagram, particularly for Enneagram types 8 & 9. Holly is a licensed clinical social worker in Memphis, TN. She has worked across the spectrum of mental health levels of care and brings that experience with her into private practice. Holly specializes in helping people recover from difficult life experiences that some label as “trauma.” Trauma comes in many forms and we don’t all know how to recognize it, but it shows up as anxiety, depression, substance abuse and other mental health problems. Trauma is often accompanied by shame and Holly has specialty training as a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator at building shame resiliency. The Daring Greatly™, Rising Strong™ and Gifts of Imperfection treatment models are based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown and fall under the umbrella of The Daring Way™. In addition to her Daring Way™ training Holly is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and has extensive experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) from her training at Four Winds Hospital in Katona, New York. Her training in DBT and yoga classes at the local gym inspired Holly to gain more education in mindfulness. On a chance retreat to Kripalu Yoga Center in the Berkshire Mountains, Holly was introduced to the work of Jack Kornfield, PhD and has continued to practice and study Insight Meditation for the past ten years. In 2018 she took her yoga practice to the next level with a 200 hour RYT training at Yoga Landing in Chattanooga. Along the yoga journey Holly was introduced to the power of Breathwork by Ashley Ludman in Costa Rica. Holly has since continued to train with Ashley and develop her own skills as a breathwork facilitator. In 2022 Holly and her husband relocated to Memphis and she is excited to return to private practice focusing on creating a safe place for those who are in transition (divorce, grief, empty-nesting, job change), supporting a loved one with a substance use disorder diagnosis/severe mental illness, or recovering from emotional abuse or trauma. She will use her expertise to guide you towards healing and resilience for optimal functioning. Mon, 31 Oct 2022 - 26min - 62 - The Wisdom of Brené Brown for Types 6 & 7 With Holly Wade, LCSW & Daring Way™ Facilitator
During today's episode we talk with Holly Wade, LCSW and Enneagram 7 about The Wisdom of Brené Brown & the Enneagram. We must stand up for each other. We must stand up for justice for all. Eleanor Roosevelt- Be confident, not certain. George Bernard Shaw- We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing. Henri Nouwen-When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares. Elie Wiesel- Someone who hates one group will end up hating everyone - and, ultimately, hating himself or herself. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/christy001/support
