Learn to speak English faster with context. This ESL conversational English podcast uses short stories to provide your brain the context it needs to learn naturally, the way children learn. Just listen to the short story and try to paint a picture in your mind. Then, I will repeat a small part of the story followed by a simple question. You should answer out loud. Short and quick answers are best. This simple, but powerful technique simulates a conversation and provides the context you need to learn naturally. Part 1 - Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
Sturgis, South Dakota, United States is notable as the location of one of the largest and most famous annual motorcycle events in the world. The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is a 10-day event that begins on the first Friday of every August. It attracts large numbers of motorcycle enthusiasts from around the entire world. The founder of the famous event is Clarence Hoel, but many just call him “Pappy.” In 1936, Pappy bought an Indian motorcycle franchise and formed the Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club the same year. The story is that someone saw Pappy and his friends on their motorcycles and said that they looked like a bunch of gypsies. A gypsy is a person who wanders from place to place and never really calls one place home. A Jack pine is a type of pine tree that is common in the areas around Sturgis. Pappy and his fellow riders held the first Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in 1938. There was a motorcycle race and motorcycle stunts, and Pappy even let people attending the rally camp out on his property. Stunts included crashing through walls of flaming boards, ramps, and even head-on collisions with automobiles.
In the early 1980’s the rally became so large that the Jackpine Gypsies handed the event over to the city of Sturgis. Today, the event is typically attended by about half a million motorcycle riders.
Part 2 – Short Story
Just listen and try to paint a picture of the story in your mind.
One day Joe heard about all the wild fun at the famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Joe wanted to go to the rally, but he had a problem, he did not have a motorcycle. Joe found a place that rented motor scooters, and that gave him an idea. Joe talked some of his friends into renting motor scooters and going to the famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Joe even had t-shirts made that said “scooters motor club” on the back. Joe’s friends were concerned that they might get beaten up if the real bikers did not have a sense of humor, but Joe told them all not to worry about a thing. When Joe and his friends rode into Sturgis Motorcycle Rally on their scooters, everyone was pointing at them and laughing. It turns out that everyone at the rally wanted to have their picture taken with Joe and his friends on their scooters. Joe and his friends were welcomed everywhere they went, and they cannot wait to return to Sturgis next year.
Part 3 – Questions & answers
Now I will tell a small part of the story followed by a pause, this pause is your turn to answer out loud. Short and quick one or two-word answers are best. This technique simulates a conversation and helps you to start thinking in English.
One day Joe heard about all the wild fun at the famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Part 1 - How to use this podcast review
I just wanted to take a minute to review how to the best use this podcast. After you develop a basic vocabulary, you are ready to start learning English faster by using the methods in this podcast. I highly recommend reading the written transcripts and looking up any words that you do not know before listening to each new episode. Then, it is a good idea to listen to each podcast many times throughout the week. You really cannot listen too many times. You will automate your English much faster if you listen a little every day, in contrast to listening many times in one day. As you hear similar verbal phrases and patterns, you will learn to speak English much faster because you are learning naturally. The short stories naturally provide the necessary context your mind needs to remember. While you listen to the short stories, it is a good idea to try and paint a picture in your mind. When phrases from the stories are repeated and you are asked simple questions, it is best to answer out loud and with short and quick answers because this will help you to start thinking in the English language, without translating everything in your mind. When you are listening to different perspectives of the same short story, it is a good idea to try and notice how the verbal patterns change in the present, past, and future tenses. This podcast uses the same learning methods that are used in the complete courses, but the stories in the complete courses are superior because they provide much more context, and each new lesson is a continuation of the same story.
Part 2 - Earth 4 °C warmer
The sad truth is that our planet is getting warmer and humanity is to blame. If we continue to pump carbon dioxide and other gases into our atmosphere, the Earth could easily become 4 °C warmer by the end of this century. If this were to happen, extremely large areas of every inhabited continent would become deserts. Almost the entire continent of Africa, most of India, and all of China would become deserts. Many islands and coastal cities would be completely under water due to rising sea levels. Only the southern tip of South America would be inhabitable. Most of the United States would become a desert, but agriculture would still be possible in the northern states which border on Canada, and all of Alaska would become inhabitable. Canada, Russia, and northern Europe would all become very desirable, and likely develop into the new global superpowers. Greenland’s name would finally start to make sense, as the ice sheets start to melt. Even parts of Antarctica would become inhabitable, and there would likely be conflicts between nations that wish to claim ownership of all or parts of the continent. Hurricanes would become more frequent and more powerful, and starvation would become much more common. The wealthy industrialized countries are responsible for most of the carbon emissions, but sadly

Hi everyone, my name is David, and it is my goal to help you learn English faster. Learning to speak English is easier than you think, you just need to use the correct learning methods. Remember that you can always access the complete written transcripts for each podcast at learningenglishfaster.com.
Part 1 - English is easy
Okay, I am sure that there are a lot of people who would disagree with me on this subject, but I insist that it is true, and I will attempt to explain why. When I say that learning English is easy, what I mean is that learning to SPEAK English is easy. I admit that learning to write in English can be challenging because many of the words are not spelled the way that they sound. However, if you are listening to this podcast, you are in luck because your goal is to learn how to SPEAK in English. I insist that learning to speak the English language is easy, and I say this mainly because the verbs in English are super easy when compared to other languages.
Part 2 – Verbs in English
Learning to speak English is easy because the verbs are easy. Verbs in English are easy because there is very little variation. I will attempt to give you a quick overview of how verbs change when referring to the present tense, future tense, and the past tense. When you are referring to the present tense, you use the main root of the verb and add “ing.”For example, I am livingin Chicago, or I am working on a project, or I am walkingmy dog right now. Present tense in English could not possibly be any easier.
Now, if you wish to use the same verbs in the future tense, all you have to do is say “will”or “going to” before the verb root. For example, I am going to livein Chicago, or I willwork on a project later, or I am going to walk my dog this evening. Again, it is straight forward and easy.
Now, we will look at how to use verbs in the past tense. This is still easy, but there are more variations because many past tense verbs in English are irregular. The good news is that this is still very easy compared to other languages because you only need to learn one irregular form of each verb. The normal rule is that you add “ed”to the end of the verb root to make it past tense. Lets look at the same verbs in the past tense. I lived in Chicago, or I worked on a project, or I walkedmy dog this morning. As I mentioned, there are many other verbs in the past tense that do not follow this pattern, but do not worry, you do not need to memorize them. As you hear them over and over again, your mind will automatically learn how to use them. This is the beauty of learning by listening, and this is how we all learned our native language without even trying.
Part 3 – Short (True) story
Just listen and try to paint a picture of the story in your mind.
I have an identical twin brother and sometimes this has created a little confusion. When I lived in Chicago, I went to college with a guy named Jim. Jim was a nice guy, but he was also a little naïve. (Naïve is another way of saying that someone is generally lacking experience.) One day, my brother and his wife walked to the store and ran into Jim. It turns out

Part 1 - History of Halloween
Halloween’s origins date back to an ancient Celtic festival, about 2,000 years ago, mostly in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France. This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the cold, dark winter. This was a time of year that was often associated with human death. The Celtic people believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31st, it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. To celebrate this event, people built huge bonfires, where they gathered to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to their gods. During the celebration, the Celtic people wore costumes, typically consisting of animal heads and skins. By the 9th century, the church established All Souls’ Day and people celebrated with big bonfires, parades, and by dressing up in costumes of saints, angels, and devils. The night before it began to be called All-Hallows Eve and, eventually, Halloween.
Part 2 – Halloween in the United States
The first celebrations included in the United States consisted of “play parties,” which were public events held to celebrate the harvest. Neighbors would share stories of the dead, dance, and sing. By the middle of the 19th century, annual fall festivities were common, but Halloween was not yet celebrated everywhere in the country. In the second half of the 19th century, America was flooded with new immigrants. These new immigrants, especially the millions of Irish fleeing the Irish Potato Famine, helped to popularize the celebration of Halloween nationally.
Today, in the United States, American kids dress up in costumes and go house to house, knocking on doors and saying, “trick or treat?” Most houses prepare for the event and participate with a small, but delicious donation of candy. Houses are frequently decorated, and it is common to carve scary faces into pumpkins and make them into glowing jack-o-lanterns by putting a candle inside. One recent change is that many young adults are celebrating the pagan holiday. Today, over 70% of young adults between the ages of 18 and 34 dress up and celebrate Halloween, but instead of going house to house, they go from bar to bar or to Halloween parties.
Part 3 – Short story
Just listen and try to paint a picture of the story in your mindOne Halloween night when I was about 12 years old, my friends and I decided to run around after dark and trick or treat for candy. After meeting my friends, and trick or treating around our neighborhood, we emptied our bags of candy at home, that is the candy we did not already eat. Then, we decided to try and get even more candy by going to a neighborhood on the other side of town. To get there, we had to cut through the woods. The woods were dark and creepy, so we told each other scary stories about monsters and devil worshipers. Then, we saw a bonfire flickering in the distance. As we got closer, we could

Hi everyone, my name is David, and it is my goal to help you learn English faster. Learning to speak English is easier than you think, you just need to use the correct learning methods. Remember that you can access the complete written transcripts for each podcast at learningenglishfaster.com.
In this episode we will be discussing the following:
Part 1 - Common language learning myths
Part 2 –The best way to learn a new language
Part 3 – Different perspectives (Past, Present, Future)
Part 1 - Common language learning myths:
Myth #1: The first myth that I would like to address is the common belief that you must have some special natural ability to learn a new language. This is simply false, even intelligence is a very poor indicator of how well someone can learn a new language. It really comes down to two things: method and practice. In other words, you need to use the correct learning methods and you need to practice on a very regular basis.
Myth #2: The second myth I would like to confront is that belief that only children can learn a second language. Children do have some advantages over adults. Children do not have pre-existing pronunciation and grammatical habits that interfere with their language learning. Also, children are exposed to countless hours of the language that they are learning. In addition, they are not afraid to make mistakes. However, when adults are determined to practice a language consistently and use the best learning methods, they can learn just as fast or even faster than a child.
Myth #3: Another myth is that immersion is the best way to learn a language. From personal experience, I can tell you without any doubt at all that this is not true. You do get really good at saying common phrases like “good morning” and “have a good day,” but you don’t really get to practice the language. In addition, it is usually easy to get by without speaking in the language you are trying to learn. For example, it is not uncommon to find people who have lived in the United States for more than twenty years and still do not speak English.
Myth #4: Another complete myth is that you can learn a language in weeks or months. Anyone trying to tell you that you will be able to speak fluently in days, weeks, or even months is obviously trying to sell you something. You can greatly reduce the time it takes to learn a new language by 1) using the correct learning methods and 2) getting regular practice. However, even with the best techniques and regular practice, it will take most people years to truly become fluent in any language.
Part 2 –The best way to learn a new language:
The very best and by best, I mean fastest way to learn how to speak a new language is by listening to it on a very regular basis. After you have developed a basic vocabulary of the most common words in a language the next step is to listen, listen, and listen some more. The more you listen, the more your mind will get used to common phrases and verbal patterns. You do not need to know 20,000 words to speak fluently in another language. For starters, you should focus on learning the very most common 250 to 500 words. This is your basic vocabulary and can be achieved quickly using free online resources such as duolingo.com or even with good old-fashion flash cards.

The Learning English Faster Podcast
-With no grammar, no lists to memorize, no textbooks-
Welcome to the free podcast of learningenglishfaster.com. My name is David, and it is my goal to help you to learn to speak English faster. Learning to speak English fluently is easier than you think. What is important is using the correct learning method. Remember, that you can access the transcripts to each podcast at learningenglishfaster.com.
If you are a beginner, I strongly recommend reading the transcript and looking up any words you do not know before listening to the podcast. Repetition is key to success, so I suggest listening to each podcast again and again, until you understand most of it.
In this episode we will be discussing the following:
-Learning methods
-Why accent matters, a lot
-How to use this podcast
-Short story
Learning methods
There are many different ways to learn a new language, and different methods work better for different goals. The method used in this podcast is designed to help you to speak English. I will say that again; the method used in this podcast is designed to help you learn to SPEAK English faster. If your goal is to learn grammar and to write in English, you may be better off finding another method. However, if your goal is to learn how to speak English fluently as quickly as possible, you are in the correct place.
Why accent matters, a lot!
If you travel around the world, you will hear many different English accents. This podcast is recorded in a Midwestern American accent. This is the most accepted English accent in the United States, and for good reason. It is spoken by more English speakers than any other English accent, and it is clearly easier to understand. As a matter of fact, if you watch national or world news in the United States, you will almost always find that the person reporting the news has a Midwestern accent. This is why it is often referred to as “broadcaster English” or “Standard American English.” A Midwestern American accent is clearly, and by far, the preferred accent when learning English.
How to use this podcast
In this podcast, I will be using a powerful technique that combines story-telling with questions and answers. Have you ever tried to sit down and memorize vocabulary? If so, you probably noticed that it is very, very boring and not very productive. The good news is that there is a better way to learn. Our minds naturally learn better through “context.” Context is basically what is going on in the story; it helps our minds to paint a picture and attach new vocabulary to our memory center, and it helps a lot! This is how children learn to speak fluidly, without ever opening a textbook. In this podcast, I will be telling part of a short story, to provide context. Then, I will ask you a very simple question about the story. There will be a short pause after each question. This is your chance to answer the question out loud, as if you were having a conversation with another person. Short one or two word answers are just fine. Let’s give it a try.
Short (True) story
For now, just listen to the short story, and try to paint a picture of it in your mind.
