Mufasa: The Lion King is an upcoming American musical drama film directed by Barry Jenkins from a screenplay by Jeff Nathanson. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, the film is photorealistically animated, and both a prequel and sequel to the 2019 remake of the 1994 film The Lion King. Development on a prequel to The Lion King was confirmed in September 2020, with Jenkins attached to direct and Nathanson finishing a draft of the script. The film was officially announced when its official title was revealed in September 2022 at the 2022 D23 Expo announcement. Production on the film slowed down in July 2023 due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.

A father bought raffle tickets at his work for all four of his children, the prize is R4000. They didnt ask him to buy the tickets, or give him the R50 needed to purchase the tickets. The one child's ticket won! So he decided to split the R4,000 between the 4 children. The winning child is now upset saying he should've got the full amount as the raffle ticket was intended for him...

Residents of Johannesburg will have to start living with daily water cuts, as a regime of 'water throttling' kicked off on Thursday. Water pressure will be low during the restriction times from 9 pm to 4 am, and it appears this will go on indefinitely.

Announcing the measures on Monday, Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina said the City intends to implement this continuously from the 14th of November 'until the system is fully recovered'.

The move is aimed at allowing Joburg’s reservoirs to fill up and stabilise.

"According to the statistics released by Majodina, an average Johannesburg resident is using 60% above the daily average in the world, which then points the misuse of water in the direction of the residents, and this was not welcomed."

77-year-old slice of Queen Elizabeth II's wedding cake sells for R 50 357,16

A 77-year-old slice of cake from Queen Elizabeth II's wedding to Prince Philip was auctioned for R 50 357,16. The slice of cake was packaged in a box bearing then-Princess Elizabeth's silver insignia and included a printed letter from the bride and a decorative doily. The piece of cake had been given to Marion Polson, housekeeper at Holyrood House in Edinburgh, Scotland, as a gift from the royal couple. Auction house Reeman Dansie announced the piece of cake, part of a 500-pound baked dessert served at the Nov. 20, 1947, wedding, was auctioned for R 50 357,16.

Former Johannesburg mayor Kabelo Gwamanda has been arrested in connection with an alleged funeral policy scam that he ran in Soweto more than a decade ago.

Police arrested Gwamanda on Friday. According to the warrant of arrest, Gwamanda, who is now MMC for community development, was arrested after a victim of his alleged scam opened a case at Protea Glen police station.

Gwamanda is alleged to have conned unsuspecting Soweto residents in a scheme in which they made monthly payments for funeral insurance. A Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) investigation last year revealed that Gwamanda — who is an Al Jama-ah councillor — operated the illegal business in 2012 and then disappeared when his clients sought their money.
