- 76 - E75 How To Strengthen Your Friendships
How strong are your friendships? Are they growing deeper, or drifting apart?
In this final episode of Season 1, we reflect on what it takes to keep our friendships alive.
Real, meaningful friendships aren’t about social media followers; they’re about connection, trust, and shared time.
Sometimes, relationships start off strong, with constant texting and hangouts. But as time goes by, they settle into routine—a few “how you beens” or “we should get together” messages that may never happen. We often assume the friendship will sustain itself, like putting money in a savings account and letting it grow on its own.
Yet, the best friendships—like the best investments—flourish when we actively nurture them. So, what would happen if we reached out more often, fully engaged, or set time aside just for them?
What steps are you willing to take to make sure your friendships are not just alive, but thriving?

Tue, 29 Oct 2024 - 15min - 75 - E74 Is Your Silence Stalling Your Growth?
Are you truly contributing when you're part of a team, or are you just showing up?
Often, we mistake our presence for participation, assuming the team leader carries the responsibility for everything.
We forget that every team member is chosen for a reason — for their unique skills, personality, and perspective.
If you’re staying quiet, waiting for others to lead, you're not only stalling your personal growth, but you're also impacting the success of the entire team.
So, how can you start bringing your best to the table? Offer ideas, take initiative, and be solution-oriented! Teams thrive on collaboration, and your voice matters more than you think.
How would you challenge yourself to step up in team settings?

Tue, 22 Oct 2024 - 10min - 74 - E73 Do You Want To Be Heard Or Understood?
Think about the last time you felt misunderstood. Was it because the other person wasn’t listening, or was your message unclear?
Effective communication is a two-way street, requiring both active listening and purposeful speaking.
It’s not enough to share our thoughts; we need to check in, ask questions, and pay close attention to how the other person is receiving our words. Only then can you build stronger, healthier connections.
How do you make sure your words are understood?

What are we actually learning from our most difficult relationships?
Are we repeating the same mistakes because we avoid reflection, or do we take the time to understand our role in them?
It’s easy to dislike and blame others, but the real growth comes when we reflect on what we tolerated, what we missed, and how we contributed.
Instead of simply labeling relationships as "good" or "bad," reflect!
What lessons can we take away to avoid repeating the past?

Tue, 08 Oct 2024 - 11min - 72 - E71 How To Grow & Succeed Through Resistance
How can we grow when faced with resistance?
It's easy to thrive when everyone speaks your language, but what about when they don't? That's when you get to test your skills.
Resistance from coworkers, clients, or even yourself isn’t a roadblock; it’s an opportunity. True growth comes from those tough moments when communication breaks down, and you're forced to find new ways to connect.
Instead of avoiding those who challenge you, view it as a chance to learn something valuable about yourself and them. By understanding their motivations and bringing your best energy to the table, you can transform conflict into collaboration. You don’t have to like them, but by leading with connection, you’ll accomplish far more and build stronger relationships.
Next time you're faced with resistance, ask yourself: How can I turn this challenge into an opportunity for success?

How do you respond when someone says, “You didn’t meet my expectations”?
For many of us, our gut reaction is defensive. What if we took a moment to listen and reflect instead?
When faced with feedback that feels critical, it’s easy to react emotionally. But by acknowledging the other person’s perspective and embracing the feedback, we open the door to growth.

Tue, 24 Sep 2024 - 17min - 70 - E69 Ask Better Questions, Find Better Answers
Are you asking the right questions to grow, learn, and understand YOURSELF better?
We often ask “how” – how did someone else succeed, how did they achieve their goals? But what if we turned that question inward? What if, instead of only asking “how,” we started asking “why”? Why are WE taking certain actions? Why do some things work while others fail?
There’s power in asking "why.” Reflecting on our successes and failures isn't just about what went wrong or how to fix it. It’s also about understanding what went right and why.
This deeper understanding can not only transform our personal growth but empower us to guide others.
Your path is unique. While learning from others is valuable, your "how" will always be distinctly yours. Embrace your journey with curiosity, and you'll extract more meaning from every moment.
What questions will you ask yourself today to unlock your potential and authentically express yourself?

Are you creating space for your audience to breathe and process?
Or are you overwhelming them with non-stop information?
From public speaking to casual conversations, we're constantly presenting ourselves and our thoughts. How we present our ideas can make all the difference between a memorable connection and a message lost in the noise. Whether on stage, in a conversation, or during a dance, contrast is key. It's not just about throwing all your ideas out there; it's about pacing, allowing pauses, and emphasizing the most important parts so that your audience can truly connect and absorb.
What changes could you make in your communication style to create more 'breathing room' for your ideas?

Tue, 03 Sep 2024 - 13min - 67 - E66 What Does Support Look Like?
Have you ever felt ill-equipped to support a friend in need?
Sometimes, we’re so solution oriented that we don’t realize support isn’t always about fixing their problems. Sometimes, it's about listening without judgment, offering a comforting presence, and showing genuine compassion.
To do this effectively, we need to recognize our own limitations, insecurities, and biases—because these can hold us back from truly engaging and being present.
Developing emotional intelligence and compassion is a lifelong process, shaped by our own experiences and understanding of love and support.
The more we reflect, learn, and embrace vulnerability, the faster we grow, and the stronger our relationships become.
How has your approach to supporting others evolved over time?

While feeling deeply is part of being human, unchecked emotions can become obstacles to effective communication and problem-solving.
By developing emotional awareness and learning to express ourselves clearly and calmly, we can foster healthier conversations and relationships. It's not about suppressing emotions, but understanding them, and learning how to articulate what we're truly feeling.

Life changes, and so do our relationships. It's easy to get caught up in nostalgia, longing for the deep connections we once had with friends. But are we doing ourselves and our friendships a disservice by constantly comparing the present to the past?
Instead of dwelling on how things used to be, try focusing on the friendship itself. Recognize that circumstances change, and so do people. Approach your relationships with compassion and curiosity. Ask yourself: What does this friendship mean to me now? How can we create something new and meaningful under our current circumstances?

It's like the saying, "If you want to master something, don't just learn it. Teach it."

Tue, 19 Mar 2024 - 12min - 43 - E42 Is Your Attempt At Self-Care Backfiring?
Have you ever isolated yourself when you craved connection most?
A friend of mine detached himself from loved ones while dealing with grief and loss. He thought focusing inward was wise self-care, without realizing how is self-isolation was destructive to his mental and emotional health.
I've disconnected during my own struggles, diminishing their importance. But no matter the hardship, letting others in is vital. Even if we need “me time,” it’s important to loop someone in. Explain that you're dealing with something and you may be quiet. They'll understand and can at least check in on you.
You never know when life's challenges may overtake you mentally or emotionally. Pushing away people who care, who could lend an ear or shoulder may leave you feeling unable to cope and abandoned, when in reality others are there for you.

The first step is putting things into context by appreciating the many positive moments and not just being hyper-focused on the negative. The second step is communicating what's working well, not just discussing problems.

Asking someone for something doesn’t always mean you’ll get a yes. Since we always have something to ask for, we all face the possibility of rejection.
The more comfortable we get with receiving it gracefully and delivering it gently, the more likely we are to reach our goals and have healthy relationships along the way.
Today’s episode is focused on dance but you can replace dance with a date, an activity, a job interview, or any other thing, and still benefit from the advice and suggestions you hear today.

Tue, 04 Jul 2023 - 09min - 6 - E5 How To Ask, Practice & Get Creative | Dance Tips for Beginners
Today’s episode is an excerpt from Live Chat #27, How to Enhance Your Own Learning Experience. I received 3 questions in particular that are incredibly important in our development as dancers, especially as beginner dancers. The first addresses the question of timing your dance requests. The second relates to the best approach to applying what you learn in the classroom. And the last question is about how to get creative with what you know.

❓Have you ever considered how you approach your learning and growth? Specifically, have you thought about how your ego might be hindering your progress?
In this episode, I share an excerpt from Live Chat #27: How to Enhance Your Own Learning Experience. I talk about my experience learning from one of my peers in the dance industry, Franklin Diaz, and how the best way to approach learning is by staying curious and humble in every learning environment. Every moment presents an opportunity for growth, but even the best teachers cannot overcome a closed mind.
