"Nigeria's History in Our Time" with Ojo, Aderemi

With more than 40, 000 dead, Boko Haram insurgency which has ravaged the northeast corner of Nigeria. In this episode, Bornu's history is explored. A ravaged region might as well have been home to a wealthy dynasty and an influencial empire that lasted longer than any other empire in world history.

In trying to understand the socio-political dichotomies of Nigeria's North and South, the political history and cultural evolution of the country must be studied from the earliest times. In this episode, I am tracing the history of the north side of the country from antiquity. It lays a foundation for further understanding of the terrain. This has been done with utmost simplicity. The length has been shortened to prevent the harrowing complications. A few historical sites were mentioned for the benefit of curious tourists, journalists and ordinary people who might want to see the relics associated with the history of the Hausa people.

In this episode I am presenting a summary of Nigeria's history up till 1999. A likely structure of what is to be expected in the other episodes is explained. This also would intoduce you to certain not-so-popular facts about Nigeria.
