    This is Hunter from Daily Radio Bible, and I'm excited to share with you the highlights and insights from today's podcast episode titled, "Confident Hope in Christ."

    Today, we journeyed through Romans chapters 13-16, reflecting on Paul's profound words to the early church. Here's a glimpse of what we discussed:

      Living Under Authority: Romans 13 reminds us of the importance of submitting to governing authorities, as all authority is established by God. It urges us to live honorable lives, love our neighbors, and fulfill God's law through love.

      Acceptance and Unity: In Romans 14-15, Paul emphasizes accepting fellow believers, regardless of their differing convictions about food and sacred days. He encourages us to live in harmony, aiming for unity and building each other up.

      Paul's Mission and Ministry: Romans 15-16 provides insights into Paul's missionary journeys, his zeal for spreading the Gospel, and his heartfelt greetings to fellow workers in Christ. He commends various individuals for their dedication and service.

      A Prayer for Hope: We concluded with Paul's prayer from Romans 15: "I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit."

    Throughout the episode, we were reminded of the centrality of Christ in our lives and the confident hope we have in Him. It's a hope that sustains us, fills us with joy, and empowers us to live out our calling with boldness and love.

    TODAY'S PRAYERS:

    Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.  

    Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.  

    And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen

    And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray...

    Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

    Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen. 

    TRANSCRIPT:

    Let's end this with Paul's prayer from Romans 15, where he says, I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. And to that I say, amen. That's Paul's heart and why he's written. He wants God's people to live with confident hope even in the midst of persecution. He wants them to remember what they already know, the gospel of Christ. He wants them to remember to live out the gospel through the power of the Holy Spirit. The only person that can 

    Be confident in Him. Let the reality of his work in life in you fill you with confident hope. May we all press forward in this confidence that we find in Christ, his abiding life in us. Regardless of what we encounter in this life, whether things given or things taken away through it all, may we be able to stand in confident hope, not in ourselves or circumstances, but entirely on him, through him. He is thoroughly good, completely able. He works things out according to his own purposes in his plans, and they're all done for our good. Be confident of that. That's the truth.

    Devotional Transcript:

    Amen. We are so far from home. Our whole being is lost. All of humanity is lost. It was lost in the garden. Lost to the self, lost to sin, lost because of Satan, lost because of a lie. We are so very lost, far more lost than we ever knew. And that is why God has given us the law.

    Sin is so deceptive that it minimizes our plight. We are blind to how lost we are. But the law opens our eyes and shows us how far from home we truly are. God gave us his word to open our eyes. God gave us his word to prepare us to see and understand the living word, the logos, the incarnate son of God, the final word, Jesus himself. He, to use a fancy theological term, is the telos. And telos means the point or the purpose or the complete exposition of who god is and who we are in god. Humanity wasn't made for the law.

    The law was made for us. Humanity was made for god. The law isn't the point. God is the point. Our life in God is what Jesus has come to demonstrate and to make possible for everyone. And the prayer of my heart is that I will see the blessing of the law, the intent and purpose of the law, and that I will let the law point me to the one that I was made for, To Jesus. He is the telos. He is the point, the purpose, and he has come to reveal himself to you and to the whole world.

    That we might be set free, that we might be found, that we might come home. May god open our eyes to see him. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul, and that's the prayer that I have for my family. My wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Let's continue now in a time of prayer.     As we usher in the final day of November, we are reminded of the beauty and truth found in the scriptures. Today marks day 335 of our journey, and we have some profound wisdom to explore in the book of Romans.

    Today's Episode: A Journey Through Romans

    In today's episode, we're reflecting on Romans 1 through 4, where Paul takes us on an epic expedition, bridging the timeless teachings of Moses and Abraham with the gospel of grace. Paul profoundly illustrates that being made right with God isn't about obedience to the law alone but about a faith-driven relationship with Him. It's a concept that was as revolutionary in Paul’s time as it is today.

    God’s Promise of Grace

    : Paul emphasizes that God’s promise is not confined to those who obey the law but is extended freely to all who have faith, much like Abraham did.

    Devotional Transcript:

    Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping, believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, that's how many descendants you will have. And Abraham's faith did not weaken even though, at a 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead, and so was Sarah's womb. Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this, he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do what he promised. And because of Abraham's faith, God counted him as righteous. And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn't just for Abraham's benefit.

    It was recorded for our benefit too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in him, the one who raised Jesus, our lord, from the dead. He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God. And now may the God who makes us right, may he now give his blessing to the reading of his word. Amen. Join the expedition. Paul is taking us on a beautiful, epic, amazing expedition on a visit to Moses and Abraham. Paul says that they both point us to the gospel of grace. Moses and the prophets show us a way to be made right with God, and it's not about keeping the law, which is completely contrary to what most people thought during his time.

    He wasn't trying to make us law abiding people. He was seeking to make humanity new with laws that are written inside of our hearts. Not law abiding people, but god abiding people. It's kind of the same today. So many Christians still think that it's about becoming law abiding when the gospel clearly proclaims that it is God who has come to abide with us in order that he might make us all new people. This is how God has made us right with himself. He's done the whole thing. Paul had an encounter with the person of Jesus and that changed everything.

    After meeting Jesus, he never read the bible the same again. So that's my prayer for us every day when we come to the scriptures that we might encounter the God of love, the God who's come to us just as we are, to reveal himself to us just as he is, full of grace and full of truth. And the prayer of my own heart today is that as we go on this adventure of faith, that as we look into the scriptures, we'll be able to see exactly what they're saying. That they are not the point. Moses and the prophets are not the point. But they do indeed point us to the source of life, the one alone who has made us right with the father. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul, and that's the prayer that I have for my family. And that's the prayer that I have for you, dear friend.

    Transcript:

    Hunter: These teachers oppose the truth, just as Janus and Jambres opposed Moses. They have depraved minds and a counterfeit faith, but they won't get away with this for long. Someday, everyone will recognize what fools they are, just as with Janice and Jambres. But you, Timothy, certainly know what I teach and how I live and what my purpose in life is. You know my faith, my patience, my love, and my endurance. You know how much persecution and suffering I have endured. You know all about how I was persecuted in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. But the Lord rescued me from all of it.

    Hunter: Yes. And everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived. But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know that you can trust those who taught you. You have been taught the holy scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives.

    Hunter: It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. The end is coming. The end is near. That's what these so called teachers were saying. And though it is a true statement that the end is coming and is near, these guys were taking it up a notch. They were false prophets trying to lead God's people astray. They were trying to get them to come in from the fields of God's work and head up on the rooftops.

    Hunter: In effect, they were saying, abandon your call to the gospel. Come, put your flight suits on because Jesus is about to come and take us out of here. Sell out and check out. That was their false message. Now I've never been tempted to sell everything and put on a flight suit and sit on my rooftop to wait for the Lord to come back. No teacher has bamboozled me enough to go that far. But we can look at history, and we can see that there are those that have. This reference in Thessalonians is perhaps the first time we see this apocalyptic escapism come upon the church, but there is something similar that we can be tempted to.

    Hunter: We can be tempted to find some kind of spiritual justification for checking out and running away. Paul wants to encourage this church in Thessalonica, and he wants to encourage us. There's a work to do. God has reconciled the world to himself in Christ. He has set us free by his grace, and we have a responsibility to proclaim this message to the world, to come back to God. We have a responsibility. He is calling us not to be idle and check out. He's calling us to engage, to roll up our sleeves, and keep at the work that he's called us to do.

    Hunter: Paul's trying to shore up these folks. They've been rattled. People have told them that it's time to check out. But Paul is telling them this is the time to move forward. There are lots of ways that we can check out. You can check out with the bottle. You can check out online. You can check out a 100 different ways.

    Hunter: But Paul says, don't do it. Instead, he says, go forward. Don't grow weary in doing good. Keep your hand to the plow. Keep doing what God has asked you to do. Jesus is coming back, but there is work to do in our lives and in this world. There are men and women and boys and girls waiting to hear, waiting to see, waiting to be set free. Paul's prayer is that our hearts, in the meantime, would be full of understanding of what God has called us to as individuals and as communities of faith.

    Hunter: He prays that we would be a full expression of the love of God. He prays that the mark that distinguishes us would not be that we checked out, but that we engaged with acts of love and kindness in this world. The Lord is coming back. But until that time, we keep at what God has called us to do, allowing his joy to be our strength. And that's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so.
