Brian finds himself in L.A., NOT loving money and sees Jack Nicholson give money to a beggar even though NO ONE else is around. This has a profound effect

BCH recalls selling his car to a congregant (probably at a great tax-free, cash profit, then leased a new one) and randomly the buyer finds the car all keyed up and we wonder if it's another Hazel Houston car story mystery.

References to tax dodging and millionaires and the irony is unbearable.

A short list of things MORE important than all that hot, hot money, cash, moolah yumyumbubblegum payola is at the end! something about family lol

there's more verses in the bible that if you say with more emphasis and different pauses make it sound like God insists you run after the cash in your life.

Scrubology! Fun times continue at LHCBC under MATRON'S supervision and Matron knows everything!

She supervised chores and more chores, and students' wives meetings, where used clothing and vegetables could be shared.

Matrons get rotated and oh how the students must adapt and learn to the changes! the pranks and tears continue!

Lecturers came and went at the Lower Hutt bible college and Hazel drops many a name including her husband's. But oh the laughs and the tears as the "long-winded but boring" classes (according to her son-in-law) carried on and on. Neville Johnson and Hetrick and all the gang were there making for a college of strong patriarchal and conservative values and introducing the visiting preacher circuit!

Bible college is tough so the students get treated like guinea pigs and get up to all kinds of pranks and silliness.

Sometimes they study too hard and sometimes not enough.

Some like rules. Some break them. But Lower Hutt was never the same once the Houstons hit it up, that's for sure.

Frank has a vision of growing wheat which means souls. He decides to open a bible college.

But he needs 100 men!

Hazel and Frank refuse to see sense in stopping the lifelong lived delusion even when Frank gets sick but not enough to die.

Frank is moving and shaking in the gifts, prophesying and correcting people everywhere he goes and calling out their demons. 

Having lost any previous fear of getting anything wrong, Frank corrects people's tongues and interpretations and he knows what's in people's purses. 

Hazel can only worry that the same thing might happen to her while Frank is out of town. 

But Frank is unstoppable. 

One night, while a young Brian is preaching, Frank calls from Seoul  where he is ministering with a word of knowledge that Brian must enforce!

Hazel marvels at how Brian and Frank are like peas in a pod, right after Brian agrees it's a fantastic idea to start an Arts/Theology College. 

Frank and Hazel travel around looking for new buildings and churches to start and chuck a couple at Brian to look after to keep him out of the house and busy. 

Hazel outlines that Frank is the person who started everything and let pastors manage under his supervision, settling the old question of who started Hillsong. Thanks, Haze

Hazel talks about all the joys of having children but actually just highlights their secret shames and does so one by one. 

Frank prays and warns people not to be seen mixing with the Beatles fans but there is rebellion in the ranks.  Deliverance meetings cause Beverly pain and Graeme ends up in weeks of depression which isn't cured with Frank's interventions, oddly enough

Then one day, one of the Houston kids has a terrible, horrible awful thing to tell the parents. Frank and Hazel respond with the most appropriate fears.. HOW will this affect them??

Hazel invites us all to share in her marriage secrets, which involves mostly Frank losing his mind and Hazel tolerating the outbursts of rage and emotion. 

Frank gets out of bed to go see Billy at 230 am as Hazel relates that time she slept through someone's emergency phone call chat for 2 hours!

Hazel says that after 39 years of marriage they knew each other's thoughts so she must have known about his criminal activities and just ignored them, making her culpable. 

Marriage advice from these two is not to be missed.

Frank and Hazel take a trip to Australia even though they can't afford it again but then suddenly Frank starts travelling the world and is amazed at how many new kinds of people there are to be judged. 

Frank learns that demons are a thing and basically is disgusted by every other culture apart from his own until he gets home and doesn't want to settle. 

He gets invited and then uninvited from a youth conference but Hazel doesn't quite say why. 

Frank cries a lot.

Frank and Hazel move somewhere else to start again. This time it's south and Frank starts moving and shaking straight away. 

Ray writes a helpful letter and Frank moves forward in faith, using only the 'bank of heaven' as backup. He also helps the church understand that voting is NOT the way to elect a church board. 

Divorce becomes a brand new way to judge people.

Ray refuses to return from Canada and so Frank is left to cough up some healing gifts and grow some church. 

He decides to prey upon the local Maori people who are initially suspicious, but inevitably overcome by Frank's sale of the gospel and every single indigenous person signs up to the AoG. 

Frank and Ray exchange letters declaring their love for each other and church growth, seeming to forget that they used to ride kids' mechanical toys at the shopping centre not long ago. 

 The Holy Spirit tells Hazel a thing even Frank hadn't known. Hazel refers to this as a spiritual gift and not shared psychosis, or 'folie a deux', which often takes place when a member of a couple in isolation has psychotic symptoms. 

By the end of the chapter, Hazel can't even be bothered letting us know if the 5th kid has any gender or name.

Frank and Ray are determined to win the spiritual war with the Maori people and show them the truth. 

Hazel is skeptical, 'as usual' but is forced into being a Pentecostal during a tent meeting. 

Ray believes Frank is ready and prays for a double portion for him before he nicks off to Canada for some reason.

Frank and Ray continue their adventures together. 

Hazel is skeptical, but Frank and Ray master all 9 gifts of the Spirit after they read a book from America and go out practising them in the general public's viewing. 

Ray hits a medical issue, but is assured that 'God does not amputate legs'. 

After Frank brings a glass of water to Ray, calling it the greatest moment of his life, even Ray knows it's time for things to cool down and for prince Frank to get his own kingdom.

Frank hangs out with the boys and they talk about the Holy Spirit. 

Frank and Ray grow closer and pray together. 

Hazel is skeptical about this movement but says she'll 'try anything in a desperate moment'. 

It affects her so much she even reads the Bible instead of the usual women's magazines. 

"A new life had begun for both of us."

There was still the matter of needing new shoes. 

Everyone notices the holes in Frank's shoes. Then they arrived as a 'gift from God'. 

Sometimes talking to Frank was like talking to God. 

The number of decisions to follow Jesus and Frank grows and 'no one was refused the laying on of hands'. 

Frank and Ray continue their adventures together in the spiritual realm. Frank is horrified to see goiters disappear and it not be due to him. So he asks God for that gift too. 

He wants a miracle to happen under his hands. 

So Frank moves towards a 14 year old boy and asks him what he wants God to do for him tonight.

Frank meets preachers that he instantly falls for. 

Hazel can't believe how one man can be so dreary all the time and yet persist. 

God tells Hazel to shut up.

Little William Francis was a sickly baby that nearly died. 

Yet Annie and Frank Sr, his doting parents managed to win some prayers from a visiting Baptist, and overlooking his denomination with unforeseen grace, they allowed him to pray for little Frank, and, the child lived. 

But Frank Sr was a man of steel and anger. 

And what of school for young Houston?
