After much reflection and listening to my intuition, I’ve made a decision that feels both challenging and aligned.
I’m taking a break from the podcast and won’t be running the Content to Cash Mastermind this fall.

In today’s podcast episode, I’m opening up about the reasons behind this decision, from new changes in my personal life to my desire to focus on scaling other areas of my business.
I’ll also be sharing why I believe this step back is actually a step forward.
If you’ve ever felt the need to recalibrate, to listen to that inner voice, or to prioritize what really matters in your life, this episode is for you.
Tune in now to hear the full story and what’s next for me. I promise it’s not the end—just a new beginning. 🌱

If you’re anything like I was five years ago, the thought of diving into your business finances and data might make you want to run away and never look back…
Because, honestly, numbers used to stress me out too.
I kid you not—until 2020, I was literally billing people BY HAND.
With a pencil.
And paper.
🤦♀️
Other business owners kept telling me I needed to set up systems and processes to make billing easier…
But I didn’t listen…
Until I was finally ready to make a change.
But here’s the thing—it doesn’t have to be this way. As someone who’s now a ‘recovering I-hate-numbers person,’ I can tell you that it just takes a few small steps to become super confident with your business numbers…
Seriously! I’m at a point now where numbers actually get me EXCITED.
I know, right?
Whether you’re a numbers newbie or someone who’s already into the data, you’re going to want to check out today’s podcast episode that’s ALL about numbers.
I had the pleasure of chatting with Tiffani Strong Smith about why numbers are so crucial.
📝 We openly shared our past mistakes, how we improved with numbers…
📝 AND we offer practical advice to boost your confidence with numbers, no matter where you’re at in your business journey.
🎧 Tune into today’s episode and transform into a confident numbers whiz!

There's so much noise out there about how to make money online.
It’s easy to get lost in the sea of advice, trends, and tactics that promise overnight success.
But here’s the truth: the key to consistent revenue isn’t about going viral or having a massive following.
In fact, focusing on things like follower count or viral reels can actually distract you from what really matters.
The real secret? It’s all about positioning yourself as an authority.
When you know how to use your content to establish your expertise, everything changes.
Your audience starts to see you as the go-to solution for their problems.
And when that happens, making sales becomes almost effortless.
But here’s the thing: building authority isn’t just about posting more or following outdated rules like the 80/20 giving-to-selling ratio.
It’s about showing up consistently, making your offers clear, and communicating in a way that truly resonates with your audience.
The best part? When you get this right, not only do you start making more money, but your audience also grows naturally as a result.
If you’re ready to stop chasing vanity metrics and start building a business that’s both profitable and sustainable, I’ve got something you need to hear.
🎧 Listen to the latest episode of The Prosperous Piano Teacher Podcast now so that you can cut through the noise learn the real strategies that work.

Ever wondered what really goes into a $73K launch?
I know I used to hear about other people’s 5 figure launches and assume that they had something special that I lacked.
But after having several 5 figure launches, here’s what I know to be true. A 5 figure launch is not about:
❌ Having a huge audience
❌ Possessing some sort of magical or special skillset that others don’t have
Having a 5 figure launch is something that can be LEARNED.
You just need to:
✅ Know who your offers are for
✅ Learn how to craft compelling content that positions you as an authority
✅ Strategically launch with timeless marketing strategies that move people off their seats
In the latest episode of The Prosperous Piano Teacher Podcast, I'm pulling back the curtain on my most recent launch and sharing the 5 key lessons that made all the difference this time around.
👀 Here's a sneak peek of the 5 lessons I share with you:
Why following your gut might just be the secret sauce. Why it’s important to look at your data to know what works and what doesn’t.How a simple cart-close bonus moved the needle in a big way.The steps I took to streamline the onboarding process and create a seamless experience. How I managed to enjoy a trip to Portugal right after enrollment – and why it didn’t hurt my results. But here's the thing – these are just the highlights. The real magic is in the details, and I’m sharing it all in this episode.

The biggest difference between someone that has hit 6 figures online and someone that is hearing crickets when they post content is….
✅ Knowing how to create compelling content.
Compelling content is NOT:
❌ Tips and tricks that apply to a huge amount of people and lack specificity
❌ Talking about yourself and why you’re qualified to help them
❌ Looking at the latest trends and trying to increase reach and engagement
Compelling content stops the scroll and:
👉🏻 Creates trust between you and your community.
👉🏻 Helps them see you as an authority in your space.
👉🏻 Nurtures them to eventually becoming customers.
And in today’s episode of the podcast, I’m going to give you 4 simple strategies that you can implement TODAY to create compelling content so that you can reach 6 figures online.
❌ There is NO FLUFF in this episode - it’s jam packed with these 4 strategies, the mistakes most people make, and specific examples of each strategy so that you can make a change now.

The first time I live launched something, I made $99 and it felt like a TOTAL flop.
I got ONE person to join my group program…which was awkward considering it was a GROUP program and at that point it was one person and myself. 🤦♀️
It was a large learning curve for me to get to the point that I could live launch successfully, but once I did it, I knew there was no going back for me.
The thing about live launching is that when done correctly, it can be HUGELY powerful.
It’s often the ‘secret' behind those big cash influxes that come into an online business.
But it doesn’t happen overnight.
In today’s episode of the podcast, you are getting a behind the scenes sneak peak at Jessica Homewood’s latest live launch.
You might remember her from the podcast back in March when we talked about group lessons as a scalable business model.
Well….a LOT has changed in her business and she just did an almost $8k launch on a brand new group program she hadn’t even created back in March. 🤩
In today’s episode, you’ll hear all about what she needed to learn in order to get there, the obstacles she overcame, and you’ll get a peak behind the curtain of all of her launch numbers.

In today’s episode of The Prosperous Piano Teacher Podcast, we had the privilege of diving deep into the fascinating journey of Melody Payne, a piano pedagogy expert turned successful online business owner.
My first interaction with Melody Payne was back in 2019 when I reached out to her, hoping my piano pedagogy students could observe her teaching. I had stumbled upon her website completely randomly and was instantly impressed by her professionalism, eye for design, and the exceptional quality of her resources and studio communications. Melody graciously allowed my students to observe her teaching and permitted me to use her website as an educational resource, which was invaluable for teaching basic business practices.
Melody started her career as a traditional piano teacher and professor. However, she embraced the digital transformation and moved her business online, which allowed her to reach a wider audience. This transition showcases the importance of adapting to new technologies and being open to change.
She discussed how her online business began out of necessity. She created resources that she needed for her own students, and soon realized that other teachers could benefit from them as well. This led to the creation of her online store.
The transition to digital wasn’t without challenges. Melody had to learn new skills, such as graphic design and digital marketing, to create and promote her products. Her dedication to learning and improving has been a significant factor in her success.
This episode is a treasure trove of inspiration and practical advice for anyone looking to create alternative streams of revenue, especially through digital resources. Melody Payne’s story is a testament to the power of passion, innovation, and perseverance. If you’re aiming to transform your business and explore new revenue opportunities, you must listen to this episode of The Prosperous Piano Teacher Podcast.

I’m thrilled to share an inspiring conversation with Katie Gettys, an innovative entrepreneur who has mastered the art of scaling online teaching businesses. Katie's journey is a fascinating blend of passion, travel, and entrepreneurial spirit that offers valuable lessons for educators everywhere.
From Classroom to Global Adventure
Katie began her career as a traditional music educator, teaching elementary school students. However, a quarter-life crisis at age 25 led her to take a bold step. She left her classroom job to travel and live abroad, spending time in Prague and exploring Europe and Southeast Asia. During this period, she discovered online teaching through VipKid, where she taught English to children in China.
Discovering Outschool and Online Music Teaching
Upon returning to the States at the onset of the pandemic, Katie missed her musical roots and sought ways to teach music online. She found Outschool, an online platform that allows teachers to create and offer classes to children aged 3 to 18. Within three months, Katie was making more than half of her previous teaching salary, and she knew she had found her niche.
What is Outschool?
Outschool is an online marketplace connecting students and teachers for a wide range of subjects, including music, life skills, and more. Unlike traditional education platforms, Outschool does not require teachers to have formal degrees—just a passion and expertise in their subject area. While Outschool takes a 30% cut of earnings, the platform’s extensive marketing and student base make it a valuable partner for many educators.
Expanding Her Studio
Katie’s success on Outschool allowed her to scale her business further by hiring other teachers to meet growing demand. This move not only diversified her studio’s offerings (including piano, voice, and drums) but also enabled her to serve more students effectively. Transitioning from an independent teacher to managing an organization on Outschool required creating a legal entity and demonstrating her ability to attract students, a process Katie now helps others navigate through her coaching business.
Overcoming Challenges and Personal Growth
Katie’s journey wasn’t without challenges. She faced significant self-doubt, especially when considering hiring other teachers. However, she worked through these limiting beliefs and embraced her role as a leader. Katie also shared insights into managing multiple projects and the importance of simplifying to avoid overwhelm.
The Importance of Focus and Simplification
Both Katie and I resonate with the idea that business growth often reflects personal growth. Katie has explored various business avenues but recently emphasized the need to focus on what truly matters. This approach reduces stress and increases efficiency, allowing her to enjoy the freedom that entrepreneurship promises.
Katie’s story is a powerful reminder of the importance of pursuing your passion, even if it means taking unconventional paths. Her success with Outschool and her ability to scale her business while maintaining a focus on personal growth offer valuable lessons for all educators.

In today's digital age, establishing a strong online presence is essential for success in any industry. Whether you're running a small business or building a personal brand, converting online visitors into loyal customers is the key to growth and sustainability. In this blog post, we'll explore five essential strategies to supercharge your online platform and drive meaningful conversions.
1. Captivating Content:
Quality content is the foundation of any successful online presence. From blog posts to social media updates, compelling content grabs attention, builds authority, and drives engagement. To create captivating content, focus on providing value to your audience, addressing their pain points, and sparking meaningful conversations. By consistently delivering high-quality content, you'll establish yourself as a trusted resource in your niche and attract more visitors to your website.
2. Seamless User Experience:
A seamless user experience is crucial for converting visitors into customers. Your website should be easy to navigate, visually appealing, and optimized for speed and performance. Pay attention to factors such as site structure, page layout, and mobile responsiveness to ensure that users can find what they're looking for quickly and easily. By prioritizing user experience, you'll reduce friction in the conversion process and increase the likelihood of visitors taking action.
3. Conversion-Focused Forms:
Streamline the process of capturing leads and collecting information with conversion-focused forms. Design your forms to be user-friendly, intuitive, and easy to complete. Minimize the number of fields required and use clear, concise language to guide users through the form submission process. By reducing cognitive load and making it as simple as possible for users to provide their information, you'll increase the likelihood of conversions and generate more leads for your business.
4. Compelling Reviews:
Social proof is a powerful driver of conversions. Encourage satisfied customers to leave reviews and testimonials sharing their positive experiences with your products or services. Display these reviews prominently on your website to build trust and credibility with potential customers. Be sure to respond promptly and professionally to both positive and negative reviews, demonstrating your commitment to customer satisfaction and transparency. By showcasing real-life success stories, you'll inspire confidence in your brand and encourage more conversions.
5. Video Testimonials:
Harness the persuasive power of video testimonials to drive conversions. Video content is highly engaging and allows you to tell a compelling story that resonates with your audience. Encourage satisfied customers to share their experiences on camera, highlighting the benefits of your products or services. Incorporate these video testimonials into your website and marketing materials to provide authentic social proof and inspire trust in your brand. By leveraging the emotional impact of video content, you'll create a memorable impression on your audience and drive more conversions.
Mastering conversion optimization is essential for maximizing the effectiveness of your online platform. By implementing these five strategies—captivating content, seamless user experience, conversion-focused forms, compelling reviews, and video testimonials—you'll supercharge your online presence and drive meaningful conversions. Start implementing these strategies today and watch your business grow!

Welcome to another episode of The Prosperous Piano Teacher! Today I'm thrilled to delve into a topic that might sound a bit unconventional at first: three "woo" tips to boost your income over the next year. Now, before you raise an eyebrow, let's explore how embracing a bit of the mystical and intuitive side can actually work wonders for your financial growth.
Embracing the Woo
Let's face it: as entrepreneurs, we often find ourselves deep in the trenches of strategy and tactics, trying to navigate the practical aspects of running a business. But what about that part of us that craves intuition and spiritual connection? For me, that "woo" side has always been present—a deep knowing that music is about more than just notes and rhythms, but a profound connection.
I want to share three tips that have been instrumental in my own journey, even if they might seem a bit unconventional to some. These are practices that have worked for me, often without me even realizing it until I saw similar strategies discussed by successful entrepreneurs and in books on manifestation.
Reflecting on Unexpected Achievements
Let's start by reflecting on the unexpected paths to success. I shared my own story of paying off student loans after nine years, a goal I had set but had no clear path to achieve. Life took unexpected turns with my divorce and selling my house, leading to the fulfillment of that goal in ways I couldn't have predicted.
I invite you to think back on your own life. Remember those big goals or milestones you achieved—starting a business, graduating, buying a home—and how the journey unfolded. More often than not, we find that the "how" was not what we originally planned. Life has a way of surprising us, and it's okay not to have all the answers.
Bonus Tip: Release the How
Here's where the magic happens—by releasing the need to know exactly how we'll achieve our goals, we make space for creative solutions and serendipitous moments. Trusting in the process, even when it seems unclear, can lead to those "aha" moments where the path forward becomes clear.
I'm excited to hear your thoughts on today's episode! I know "woo" topics might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I believe these tips are universally applicable, whether you're a business owner or simply aiming for financial growth.
If this episode resonated with you, I'd love to hear from you! Share your thoughts with me on Instagram, and if you found value in these tips, consider sharing the episode with a friend or on social media.
Remember, these practices are not just for business owners—they're for anyone looking to improve their money mindset and reach their financial goals. And if you've been enjoying The Prosperous Piano Teacher, leaving a rating and review would mean the world to me. Your support helps these episodes reach others who might benefit from them.
I want to remind you that you are powerful, and you have the ability to create the financial abundance you desire. Trust in the process, release the need for rigid plans, and make space for life's magic. Here's to a fantastic week ahead, and I can't wait to be back with you for the next episode!

Today's episode is all about the journey to twenty-three thousand dollars in passive income from my evergreen course. If you've been following along, you might remember when I first mentioned making three thousand dollars from this course while on vacation. Well, fast forward to now, and it has brought in twenty-three thousand dollars in the last four months alone.
So, what's the secret? Is passive income really passive? Let's dive in.
The Myth of Passive Income
Let's start by addressing the term "passive income." I've always had mixed feelings about it. The term implies earning money without effort, which isn't entirely true. For me, passive income involves setting up a revenue stream that operates with minimal ongoing work. It's not about doing nothing; it's about scalability and efficiency.
This journey started last April when the idea for this course first took shape. By June, I was selling it as a live class, and by October, I had transitioned it into an evergreen course. Since then, it's been running smoothly in the background, bringing in revenue with minimal effort.
Now, let's talk about the biggest lesson I've learned: the importance of data. Collecting and analyzing data about every part of the process has been crucial. From the landing page visits to video watch times to email clicks, every data point tells a story.
False attribution is a trap many fall into. It's when we attribute a drop in sales or other metrics to the wrong causes without looking at the data. For example, a decrease in sales could lead to knee-jerk reactions like re-recording webinars or changing prices. But without analyzing the data, it's just guessing.
I experimented with ManyChat, an automation tool, to streamline the process. While it increased opt-ins, it also led to lower video watch rates. This change affected revenue, but instead of panicking, I trusted the data. Patience is key, especially when introducing new elements to the funnel.
Buyers often take about forty-two days to convert into customers. It's a process of warming up, considering, and then making a decision. Understanding this helped me remain patient and not overreact to short-term fluctuations.
Remember that building passive income takes time and patience. It's not an overnight success story but a journey of setting up systems, analyzing data, and making informed decisions. And always beware of false attribution—it can lead you astray.
If you're considering creating a course or venturing into passive income, know that you can do it. Trust the process, collect your data, and stay patient. And if this episode resonated with you, reach out on Instagram. Your feedback helps shape the content.
Remember, it's a process, but with dedication and data, you can achieve your goals. Thank you for tuning in to today's episode. I hope you found these insights valuable as you navigate your own journey to passive income.

Welcome to another episode of The Prosperous Piano Teacher! I'm Ashlee, and today I had the pleasure of sitting down with Tiffany Strong Smith, a remarkable individual with a wealth of experience in the world of piano teaching. Tiffany's journey is not just about running a successful studio; it's about following her passion, making tough decisions, and redefining what it means to work hard.
A Journey Rooted in Passion
Tiffany's journey began at the age of five when she started piano lessons. Like many young students, she had her moments of frustration and resistance, but her parents' unwavering support kept her on track. Little did she know that this early introduction to music would shape her life in unexpected ways.
After years of teaching private lessons from her home, Tiffany found herself at a crossroads in 2015. Feeling uninspired and frustrated with the status quo, she took a leap of faith and ventured into group lessons. This decision was unconventional at the time, but it turned out to be a game-changer for her studio.
The Evolution to a Brick-and-Mortar Studio
Group lessons proved to be immensely successful, and Tiffany quickly outgrew her home studio. In partnership with a friend, she founded KeyBox Studio in Gilbert, Arizona. The transition from a home studio to a brick-and-mortar location was not without its challenges, particularly when it came to hiring teachers and setting tuition rates.
One of the most significant hurdles was realizing that the initial financial projections fell short. Tiffany had to recalibrate and make tough decisions about tuition rates and teacher compensation. It was a learning curve, but she recognized the importance of valuing her teachers while ensuring the business remained sustainable.
The Courage to Raise Prices
A pivotal moment came during the pandemic when Tiffany and her business partner made the bold decision to raise prices by thirty percent. It was a risky move, especially during uncertain times, but it paid off. The studio not only survived but thrived, proving that sometimes the most daunting decisions lead to the greatest rewards.
Working Smart, Not Just Hard
In our conversation, Tiffany and I explored the concept of "working hard" in the context of building a successful studio. Contrary to the traditional narrative of long hours and constant hustle, she emphasized a different kind of hard work. For Tiffany, working hard meant making tough decisions, trusting her instincts, and being open to change.
She shared how her definition of hard work evolved over the years. It was not about teaching more hours or taking on more students but about making strategic choices that aligned with her vision. Whether it was transitioning to group lessons, raising prices, or launching new initiatives, Tiffany's journey was guided by courage and conviction.
Lessons in Business and Passion
Through Tiffany's story, we learn valuable lessons about running a successful studio:
- Value Your Teachers: Finding the right teachers who align with your studio's culture is crucial. Fair compensation and clear communication are key to a harmonious working relationship.Set Your Prices Wisely: Don't be afraid to charge what your services are worth. Setting prices based on the business's needs, not fear, ensures sustainability.Embrace Change: Tiffany's willingness to try new approaches and pivot when necessary led to growth and success. Be open to new ideas and opportunities.Follow Your Passion: Above all, Tiffany's journey is a testament to the power of following your passion. When you love what you do and believe in your vision, the hard work becomes a labor of love.
Tiffany shared her excitement about a new project on the horizon. Despite the challenges and uncertainties she faced, her journey as a piano teacher has been one of fulfillment and joy. She leaves us with a powerful reminder: "Follow your gut, trust your instincts, and lead with your heart."
Tiffany's story is an inspiration to piano teachers everywhere, a reminder that success is not just about numbers but about passion, courage, and the willingness to embrace change. As you navigate your own journey in the world of piano teaching, remember Tiffany's lessons: work smart, value your worth, and never be afraid to dream big.

In this episode, we're diving deep into the world of social media metrics and uncovering the truth about likes, shares, and follows. Host delves into the myth of vanity metrics and sheds light on what truly drives income in your business.
Understanding the distinction between vanity metrics and actionable metrics is crucial for making informed decisions aligned with your business goals. Vanity metrics, such as follower counts and video views, often deceive us into thinking success is within reach, when in reality, they don't directly translate to revenue.
For instance, having a large Instagram following or YouTube subscriber count doesn't guarantee sales or ad revenue. The real measure of success lies in engagement and conversion rates. Host shares insightful examples, illustrating how focusing on actionable metrics like workshop attendance and course purchases yields tangible results.
By shifting the focus from superficial metrics to meaningful indicators of success, such as workshop sign-ups and video watch time, you can make data-driven decisions that drive growth and revenue in your business. Don't fall into the trap of chasing vanity metrics—focus on what truly matters to achieve your business objectives. Tune in to learn how to navigate the world of social media metrics and maximize your business's potential.

Have you ever wondered about the true potential of group lessons?
I know when someone first asked me if I taught group lessons I thought to myself, “why would I do that? It’s less valuable and less effective.”
This early version of piano teacher Ashlee had a lot of preconceived ideas about what group lessons were and were not. 🤦♀️
I’m really glad to have evolved beyond this view point and that I now understand how powerful and effective group lessons can be for the student and the business owner.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I dive deeper into this topic with a special guest, Jess Homewood from Not Your Mother’s Piano Studio.
Jess has rebuilt a studio from scratch in 3 different states, and has scaled her business very successfully with a group lesson model.
She is an advocate of teachers creating sustainable businesses that don’t lead to burnout and exhaustion.
So OBVIOUSLY we get along. 😉
In today’s episode, we talk about where she was when she started, what the transition to group lessons was like for her and her studio (and the parents!), and everything she learned along the way.
She shares some practical insights, the vulnerable parts of her journey, and so much more.
🎮 AND she talks about how she uses games to keep lessons fun, educational, and the power behind creating positive lesson experiences for your students.
I had so much fun talking with Jess and I can’t wait for you to hear the episode.

Mon, 08 Apr 2024 - 46min - 49 - 49. 3 Biggest Mistakes that Keep You Under Six Figures
In this episode, we delve into the three major mistakes that can hinder your progress towards earning a six-figure income. By recognizing and addressing these pitfalls, you can pave the way for greater success and financial stability in your endeavors.
1. Not Valuing Your Time:
It’s essential to recognize the value of your time beyond just the monetary exchange per hour.Consider other forms of currency such as time and energy, which are equally important.Failure to account for all the hours spent outside of direct lessons can lead to underestimating the true investment of time.Be mindful of the time required for tasks like creating content and providing customer service, as these can significantly impact your workload and energy reserves.2. Getting Stuck in a Scarcity Mindset:
Avoid the trap of solely focusing on immediate financial gains, which can foster a scarcity mindset.Making decisions based solely on the need for immediate income may lead to compromising your boundaries and goals.Example: Accepting new students out of desperation for quick cash can deplete both your time and energy reserves, ultimately hindering your long-term growth.3. Not Thinking Ahead for Scalability:
Take a proactive approach to scalability by implementing efficient systems and processes.Consider aspects like client onboarding, where creating templates can streamline communication and save time. When creating courses or products, avoid including elements that may need frequent revisions, which can hinder scalability.Utilize tools like CRM systems to effectively manage and organize customer information, ensuring smooth operations and growth.By recognizing and addressing these common mistakes, you can overcome barriers to reaching a six-figure income. Valuing your time, avoiding a scarcity mindset, and planning for scalability are crucial steps towards achieving financial success and stability in your endeavors.

Becky's story is a testament to the power of strategic decision-making and thoughtful studio management. Despite facing unexpected career shifts, including a stint in real estate, Becky remained steadfast in her commitment to music education. Starting with piano and violin, she later incorporated viola into her teaching repertoire, demonstrating adaptability and a keen understanding of market demands.
As a fellow music educator, I understand the challenges of balancing work and personal life. Becky found inspiration in my podcast, resonating with my experiences in managing work-life balance. By introducing innovative policies, such as a no makeup lesson policy and automated billing systems, Becky transformed her studio into a well-oiled machine, allowing for greater efficiency and focus on student engagement.
One of Becky's most courageous moves was doubling her teaching rates, a decision rooted in recognizing her own worth and the value she provides to her students. Additionally, she introduced value-added services, such as monthly newsletters and group classes, further enhancing the student experience and solidifying her studio's reputation for excellence.
By prioritizing quality over quantity and adopting a strategic approach to studio management, Becky achieved a healthier work-life balance. Launching a product or service can be both exhilarating and nerve-wracking. As entrepreneurs, we pour our hearts and souls into our offerings, hoping for success. Recently, I experienced a $60,000 launch, and the journey taught me invaluable lessons that I believe are worth sharing.
Here are the key takeaways from my experience:
Set Clear Goals: Before launching anything, define your goals. What do you aim to achieve? Having clarity on your objectives guides your efforts and keeps you focused throughout the process.
Plan Strategically: A successful launch requires meticulous planning. Outline your launch strategy, including marketing tactics, timelines, and resources needed. Planning ahead minimizes last-minute stress and increases the chances of success.
Execute with Precision: Once you've devised your plan, execute it with precision. Pay attention to details, adhere to timelines, and ensure all elements of your launch strategy are implemented effectively.
Monitor and Analyze Data: Throughout the launch process, monitor key performance metrics closely. Analyze data related to website traffic, conversions, email engagement, and customer feedback. This data provides valuable insights into what worked well and areas for improvement.
Seek Customer Feedback: Engage with your audience to understand their perspective. Talk to both customers and non-customers to gather insights into their decision-making process. Their feedback can help you refine your offerings and address any concerns or barriers to purchase.
Celebrate Wins: Take time to celebrate your achievements, no matter how small. Celebrating milestones boosts morale and motivates you to keep pushing forward, even in the face of challenges. Acknowledge your progress and appreciate the effort you've put in.
Share Your Journey: Don't hesitate to share your experiences with others. Whether through a blog, podcast, or social media, sharing insights from your journey can inspire and educate fellow entrepreneurs. It also fosters a sense of community and collaboration.

Mon, 04 Mar 2024 - 1h 06min - 44 - 44. 4 Timeless Marketing Strategies To Get More Customers and Make More Money NOW
Today, we're uncovering timeless strategies that can skyrocket your business's success and bolster your revenue streams. From creating anticipation to speaking directly to your customer's needs, these tactics transcend industries and marketing methods. So, let's dive in!
Creating Buzz in Advance: Plan for Success
One of the cornerstones of effective marketing is creating anticipation. By letting people know ahead of time about your upcoming ventures, you build excitement and intrigue around your brand. Take the time to plan your marketing efforts strategically. Whether it's an event, product launch, or special promotion, scheduling promotions and announcements can make a significant impact.
In a previous episode (Episode 35: 2 Steps for Setting Kickass Income Goals AND Reaching Them in 2024"), we discussed the importance of setting goals and planning for success. Incorporating these principles into your marketing strategy can help you stay organized and focused on your objectives.
Honesty about Scarcity: Building Genuine Urgency
Scarcity is a powerful psychological trigger that compels action. However, it's crucial to be genuine about scarcity. Whether you're offering limited spots in a program or product inventory, honesty is key. Fake scarcity tactics can damage trust and credibility in the long run. Remember, every customer is valuable, and your business infrastructure should support the demand you generate.
Implementing Deadlines: Urgency Drives Action
Deadlines are effective motivators for customers. Whether it's a limited-time bonus offer or enrollment closing, deadlines create a sense of urgency and encourage customers to act swiftly. For example, if your product or service is only available at certain times of the year, communicate this clearly to your audience. Additionally, signaling future price increases can incentivize customers to make a purchase sooner rather than later.
Speaking Directly to Customers' Needs: The Power of Benefits
When promoting your products or services, focus on the benefits they offer to your customers. Rather than simply listing your credentials or accomplishments, articulate how your offering will address their needs and enhance their lives. By emphasizing transformation and tangible benefits, you can connect with your audience on a deeper level and inspire action.
Taking Your Marketing to the Next Level
In today's competitive landscape, effective marketing is more important than ever. By implementing timeless strategies that prioritize honesty, urgency, and customer-centric communication, you can position your business for long-term success. Remember to stay authentic, plan strategically, and always prioritize the needs of your customers. With these principles in mind, you'll be well-equipped to attract more customers, drive revenue growth, and make a lasting impact in your industry.

Mon, 26 Feb 2024 - 29min - 43 - 43. The Profit Loop - ONE Thing You Can Utilize To Bring In More Cash, More Often, On Repeat
The Profit Loop
Welcome to another episode of The Prosperous Piano Teacher. In today's episode, we dive into the concept of the Profit Loop - a method to attract more customers, grow your audience, and increase your revenue without constantly reinventing your strategies.
In this episode, we unravel the Profit Loop strategy, a system designed to streamline the customer journey and turn potential leads into paying customers rapidly. We'll explore real-life examples and practical tips to implement the Profit Loop effectively in both online and in-person settings.
Understanding the Profit Loop:
The Profit Loop revolves around two core principles: expanding your audience of potential customers and swiftly converting them into paying clients. Central to this concept is understanding the customer journey, where every interaction holds the potential to either propel a lead towards conversion or push them away.
Example:
Consider the journey of a piano player exploring online resources. From watching YouTube tutorials to opting in for freebies, each step contributes to their progression along the customer journey. The key lies in accelerating this journey through strategic interventions, both online and offline.
The Online Profit Loop:
Enrollment events serve as pivotal moments in the Profit Loop strategy. Take, for instance, the Piano Practice Lab (PPL) - a four-day immersive event conducted over Zoom. Through workshops, accountability measures, and free lessons, participants are guided towards the next step: joining the Casual to Confident Piano Player program.
Why it Works:
Enrollment events act as potent catalysts, swiftly transforming leads into customers. By offering valuable insights and fostering personal connections, these events provide a deeper understanding of your teaching philosophy, fostering trust and loyalty among participants.
From online recitals to free classes, the options for enrollment events are diverse. Whether it's inviting friends to a recital or hosting a piano camp, the goal remains consistent: to engage new audiences and nurture leads towards conversion.
Tips for Success:
- Collect information diligently, even from non-converting leads, to refine your strategies.Embrace the principle of "rinse and repeat" - once you find what works, stick to it.Experiment with different approaches within enrollment events and leverage successful tactics consistently.
The Profit Loop offers a roadmap for entrepreneurs to streamline their customer acquisition process and drive sustainable growth. By understanding the nuances of the customer journey and leveraging enrollment events effectively, businesses can forge meaningful connections with their audience and drive conversions at an accelerated pace.
Thank you for tuning in to this episode. Stay tuned for more insights and inspiration on your journey towards entrepreneurial success.

Mon, 19 Feb 2024 - 32min - 42 - 42. How You Do Your Business Finances Impacts How Much Money You Can Earn (with tips and strategies)
In this episode, we delve into the critical role mindset plays in financial success and practical strategies for managing your business finances effectively.
Mindset Matters:
Negative beliefs about money can hinder your ability to attract wealth. Believing in your capacity to handle larger sums of money is crucial.
Setting the groundwork early prepares you for future financial success.
Preparation for Financial Growth:
Consider whether you would know what to do with a large sum of money if it came your way unexpectedly. Preparation is key to managing substantial wealth effectively.
Automate Payment Processes:
Tracking down payments is neither sustainable nor scalable for a business. Utilize autopay systems like Fons to streamline payment processes.
Credit Card Payments:
Accepting credit card payments is essential for scalability. Tracking individual payments manually is not feasible for significant revenue streams.
Practical Tips for Financial Management:
Separate Accounts:
Establish a distinct account for business transactions, regardless of whether it's a designated business account.
Pay Yourself Wisely:
Allocate a portion of earnings for taxes and business expenses, keeping personal and business finances separate.
Expense Tracking:
Monitor all expenses, including credit card fees, subscriptions, and recurring costs, for both tax purposes and financial clarity.
Advanced Strategy - Profit First:
Implement a single main account for revenue distribution, allocating percentages for owner compensation, taxes, operational expenses, and profit.
Mastering your mindset around money and implementing sound financial practices are essential steps towards achieving long-term financial stability and success in your business endeavors.

As a piano teacher, I know the struggle of capturing those fleeting creative sparks. Ideas used to visit me during lessons…but I never remember them when I felt creatively called to actually create content. Lesson learned: Write. It. Down. ✍️
Hello and welcome! Whether you're a seasoned content creator or just starting out, this episode is packed with tangible strategies to streamline your content creation process. Let's dive in!
The Idea Phase
The first stage of content creation is the idea phase. This is where inspiration strikes, and you brainstorm ideas for your content. Keep a central repository for all your ideas, whether it's a notes app, Google doc, or a project management tool like Trello. Detailed notes ensure you don't forget your brilliant ideas and can easily access them when needed.
The Planning Stage
Next comes the planning stage, where you map out your content in detail. Identify your hook, craft your introduction, and outline the key points you want to cover. Planning ahead not only saves time but also ensures your content aligns with your overall goals and strategy. Consider creating templates to streamline this process and maintain consistency across your content.
The Creation Stage
Now it's time to bring your content to life. With a clear plan in hand, recording or writing becomes more efficient. For beginners, this stage may feel daunting, but remember, practice makes perfect. Embrace imperfection and focus on progress over perfection. As you gain experience, you'll become more comfortable and efficient in the creation stage.
The Post Stage
The final stage is the post-production phase, which involves editing, uploading, and publishing your content. Editing can be time-consuming, especially for beginners, but don't be discouraged. With practice, you'll develop editing skills and find tools that work best for you. Remember to allow yourself time to learn and grow in this stage.
Content creation is a journey that requires patience, persistence, and creativity. By following these four stages and refining your process over time, you'll become a more efficient and effective content creator. Embrace the learning curve, celebrate your progress, and keep pushing forward. Your voice matters, and the world is waiting to hear what you have to say. At the outset, content creators often face a landscape where revenue streams trickle in slowly. Earnings from affiliate marketing or ad revenue may seem negligible, represented by a horizontal line inching upward. However, amidst the initial modesty lies the promise of boundless expansion.
Unlike traditional models constrained by earning caps, content creation offers an open-ended avenue for growth. The absence of limitations makes the journey both exciting and powerful, propelling creators toward new heights of success.
Practical Tips for Content Creators: Navigating the Path to Success
- Just Do It: Embrace imperfection and start creating content without hesitation. Focus on improvement over time, knowing that every effort contributes to growth.Be Consistent: Consistency is key across all platforms. Algorithms favor regularity, making it essential to maintain a steady stream of content to engage and grow your audience.Start with What You Have: Fancy equipment and technical expertise are not prerequisites for getting started. Begin with the resources at hand and refine your craft as you progress.Think About Monetization Early: Integrate monetization strategies into your content creation process from the outset. Align revenue streams with your content and audience, paving the way for sustainable growth.
As you embark on your content creation journey, remember that every step forward brings you closer to your goals. Embrace the learning curve, seek feedback, and stay committed to your vision. Your passion and dedication will fuel your success, transforming your creative endeavors into profitable ventures.
The journey of content creation and monetization is a dynamic and rewarding pursuit. By embracing the process, honing your skills, and staying true to your vision, you can turn your passion into a flourishing online presence. So, take the first step, stay consistent, and let your creativity pave the way to success.

In the ever-evolving world of music education, passionate educators are continually exploring innovative approaches to inspire and engage their students. One such educator, Tim Topham, has not only been on a six-year journey of blogging and podcasting but has also recently authored a groundbreaking book, "No Book Beginners." In this podcast, we dive into Tim's creative process, the inspiration behind his book, and the valuable lessons he's learned along the way.
The Genesis of "No Book Beginners":
Tim Topham's journey began with a commitment to push the boundaries of traditional piano teaching methods. Drawing inspiration from various pedagogical approaches such as Music Learning Theory, Kada, and Suzuki, he embarked on a mission to create something unique. His experiment began with a seven-year-old student named Josh, marking the genesis of "No Book Beginners."
Tim decided to challenge the norm by refraining from using a method book for the first 10 weeks of lessons, effectively turning Josh into a guinea pig for an innovative teaching program. Despite initial doubts, Tim's approach resulted in significant musical growth and increased musicality in Josh compared to students who followed a more conventional reading-first approach.
From Experiment to Book
Encouraged by Josh's success, Tim went on to develop a comprehensive program titled "No Book Beginners." Recognizing the potential impact on piano education, he recorded a course to share this approach with fellow educators. This eventually led to the creation of his book.
Earlier this year, after years of contemplating a book, Tim finally found the focus – "No Book Beginners." He aimed to distill his extensive knowledge of music education into a practical guide for teachers seeking a fresh perspective. Starting with a larger concept, he decided to narrow down the book's focus to make it more accessible and impactful.
The Writing Process
Writing a book can be a daunting task, especially for those new to the process. Tim shared insights into his writing journey, emphasizing key aspects that helped him overcome hurdles. One crucial recommendation is to set aside dedicated time each day, creating a structured routine for writing. Additionally, using tools like Scrivener for outlining and breaking down the writing process into manageable goals can make the endeavor more achievable.
Tim highlighted the importance of not being overly critical during the initial writing phase. Instead, the focus should be on getting ideas down on paper, with the understanding that refinement and editing will come later. The power of outlining, specifically spending six hours brainstorming and organizing ideas, played a pivotal role in shaping the book's structure.
Navigating the Editing Process
After completing the initial writing phase, Tim engaged in a rigorous editing process. Working with structural and copy editors, he ensured the book's coherence, clarity, and adherence to a style guide. The editing journey involved several rounds, from structural adjustments to meticulous line editing and proofreading.
Tim stressed the significance of investing time and resources in thorough editing to produce a professional and error-free final product. He acknowledged the investment required but emphasized the satisfaction of holding a polished book that aligns with his professional standards.
Reflections on the Completed Book
Now, with the finished product in hand, Tim expressed his excitement and pride in the culmination of years of experience and expertise. The book, "No Book Beginners," serves as a testament to his dedication to music education and his commitment to sharing innovative teaching methods.
Advice for Aspiring Authors
Drawing from his own experience, Tim provided valuable advice for teachers contemplating writing a book. He highlighted the importance of belief in oneself, setting aside dedicated writing time, and embracing the outlining process. Additionally, he encouraged writers not to delete anything during the initial writing phase, emphasizing the power of refining and editing in subsequent stages.
Unveiling "No Book Beginners" to the World
Tim Topham's "No Book Beginners" is now available to piano teachers and enthusiasts worldwide. The book offers a fresh perspective on piano education, challenging traditional methods and providing a comprehensive guide to implementing creative teaching approaches. For those interested, the book is available in PDF format with an audiobook option on Tim's website. Alternatively, the paperback version is accessible through Amazon.
A Glimpse into "No Book Beginners"
The book primarily caters to piano teachers who seek an alternative to the conventional approach of teaching reading from lesson one. It addresses the "why" behind this shift, delving into the history, impact, and potential missed opportunities associated with traditional teaching methods. The second part of the book features a practical guide with five weeks' worth of detailed lesson plans, empowering teachers to implement creative and musical activities from the start.
Encouragement for Fellow Teachers
As we venture into a new year, Tim shares a powerful message for music educators eager to elevate their teaching practices or explore new avenues. He emphasizes the significance of connection and community in fostering growth and success. Tim encourages teachers to seek out networks, whether through organizations like MTNA or online communities, to share experiences, ask questions, and be part of a supportive tribe.
In conclusion, Tim Topham's journey from experimenting with teaching methods to authoring "No Book Beginners" is a testament to the transformative power of creativity and innovation in music education. His insights, both into the book-writing process and teaching philosophy, serve as a source of inspiration for educators seeking to make a positive impact on their students' musical journeys.
Tim Topham's story is a reminder that every teacher has the potential to create positive change in their teaching approach. Whether it's through embracing creativity, connecting with a community, or embarking on a writing journey, the possibilities are endless. As we step into 2024, may educators find inspiration in Tim's experiences and continue to shape the future of music education with passion and purpose.

Today's episode dives deep into a topic that has been a total game-changer in my business and personal life for many years. What we're discussing is not just about studio policies; it's a formula that can empower you and make every conversation, both in and out of your business, much smoother.
Recap of Part One:
Before we delve into today's formula, I'd like to briefly recap Part One of this two-part series. In the previous episode, we explored specific studio policies that can effectively address common issues faced by piano teachers. If you haven't listened to it yet, I recommend checking it out for a comprehensive understanding of the policies that can transform your teaching experience.
The Power-Packed Formula:
Now, let's jump into the formula that will take your power back in your business and simplify every conversation about studio policies. This powerful formula consists of two key steps: validate and restate.
Validate:
Acknowledge what the other person is saying.Show understanding and empathy.Let them know you hear and respect their perspective.Restate:
Clearly restate your studio policy or boundary.Reinforce the reality of your established guidelines.Keep it concise and avoid unnecessary explanations or justifications.Breaking Down the Formula:
Let's break down each step:
Example 1: Studio Closure Policy
Suppose a client questions the increased number of studio closure days in your new policy:
Validation: "Yes, the schedule is changing, and I understand that feels different from our past practices."Restate: "The new schedule for 2024 is in effect. Let me know if it works for you going forward."This approach avoids unnecessary explanations and puts the decision back in their hands.
Example 2: Rate Increase Policy
If a client expresses concern about the raised rates:
Validation: "I totally understand if the new rates are challenging for you right now."Restate: "These are the new rates for 2024. Let me know if it works for you, and I'll miss seeing you every week."Again, validate their concern but firmly restate your policy.
Adding a Softener (Optional):
For those who find the formula too direct, consider adding a softener—a small opening or "door" to the conversation. Use this sparingly, and only if it feels appropriate.
Softener Example:
"I love having you in the studio. If the rate raise is challenging, let's talk and see if we can find a solution."This softens the boundary without compromising your policies.
Implementing this formula in your studio communication can be a game-changer. It shifts your mindset, empowers you, and eliminates the need for constant justifications. Remember, "no" is a complete sentence, and you can confidently stand by your policies. As you practice this formula, you'll find conversations becoming easier and more respectful of your time and boundaries.
Thank you for joining me in this two-part series. If you found value in today's episode, please take a moment to rate and review the podcast. Your support helps spread this valuable information to piano teachers worldwide. Wishing you an incredible week, and remember, you've got this!

Welcome to today's episode, where we delve into the exciting world of goal setting for the upcoming year, 2024. I am genuinely thrilled about the valuable insights we'll be discussing on how to set kickass business and income goals and, more importantly, how to reach them. This episode is packed with actionable advice that I believe will add immense value to your journey. So, buckle up, as we embark on a two-step exploration to set meaningful and achievable goals.
Step 1: Going Deeper with Your Goals
Before we dive into the strategic aspects of goal setting, let's begin with a story about the Frozen soundtrack – an unexpected source of inspiration. Just like the characters in Frozen, we all need our "getting Brave" song, a source of motivation when facing challenges. The key is to connect with the emotions, desires, and expectations behind our goals.
Imagine a goal of making $100,000 in 2024. Instead of stopping at the surface, ask yourself why. What will this financial milestone bring you – security, freedom, joy? By going deeper, you connect with the essence of your goal, making it more meaningful. Next, consider what you need to learn or gain and what you need to release to achieve this goal.
For instance, if your current hourly rate generates $78,000 annually, strategize on raising rates, increasing hours, or exploring new income streams like creating a digital course. Connecting the emotional and strategic aspects of your goals provides a holistic foundation for success.
Step 2: Strategizing with Three Currencies in Mind
Now, let's move into the strategic realm of goal setting. Consider three currencies: time, money, and energy. Instead of fixating on a single dimension, approach goal setting with a holistic perspective. Strategize on how to achieve your financial goals while maintaining a healthy balance between time investment and energy expenditure.
Continuing with the $100,000 goal, assess your current hourly rate and ideal weekly working hours. Explore avenues such as rate adjustments, increased hours, or creating passive income streams. The key is to align your strategy with your desired lifestyle and energy levels.
As we approach the new year, let's embrace the wisdom of Frozen's "do the next right thing." Setting and achieving goals is a journey, not a sprint. Recognize the power of taking one step at a time, ensuring each step aligns with your deeper aspirations.
I encourage you to share this episode on social media, discuss it within your community, and, most importantly, reflect on your own getting Brave song. Remember, it's okay to be afraid and brave simultaneously. Your journey to 2024 is filled with possibilities, and by setting purposeful goals, you're already on the path to success.
If you found value in this episode, please share it with others, and don't forget to rate and review the podcast. Your support helps us reach more piano teachers and make a positive impact on their lives.
Wishing you a transformative and goal-driven 2024. Until next time, stay inspired, stay focused, and keep moving forward. You've got this!

Embarking on the journey of creating a YouTube channel can be a thrilling yet challenging experience. In this blog post, I want to share my personal journey from the early days of uncertainty to the current exciting phase of growth and success. Through the highs and lows, I've learned valuable lessons that I believe can empower anyone considering starting their own channel. So, let's dive into the story of my YouTube venture, highlighting the key milestones, mistakes made, and the insights gained along the way.
The Humble Beginnings
Idea Generation and First Video
My YouTube journey started with a simple idea that I scribbled down and turned into an outline. Armed with just an iPhone and a tripod, I pressed record, sharing my thoughts on five common mistakes. No fancy lighting or extensive equipment – just raw authenticity. Looking back, the initial video was cringe-worthy, yet beautiful because it marked the moment I embraced vulnerability and took the first step.
Naive Expectations and Early Strategy
Eager and somewhat naive, I envisioned YouTube as my key to success and riches. Monetization was the goal, believing it would supplement my teaching income. Little did I know about the reality of YouTube earnings. My strategy of posting three videos a week was ambitious, driven by a misconception that more content meant better visibility in the algorithm.
Lessons in Consistency and Vulnerability
Embracing Imperfection
The initial videos lacked finesse, but they were a crucial starting point. Acknowledging the imperfections, I understood that progress requires vulnerability. Being willing to be bad at something initially paved the way for consistency.
The Importance of Commitment
Consistency became my mantra. Despite the initial frustration of low views, I committed to the routine. Every effort, even with minimal rewards, contributed to building a foundation. Over time, the commitment paid off, and the channel gained traction.
Evolving Strategies and Learning Curves
Promoting Videos and Overcoming Fears
As the channel progressed, promoting videos became essential. Venturing into Facebook groups and Reddit, I faced the challenges of online promotion. Learning the dos and don'ts, I navigated the delicate balance between visibility and avoiding spam.
Shifting Strategies and Adjusting Expectations
Realizing the fallacy of the misconception about YouTube income, I adjusted my strategy. Monetization did happen, but the earnings were far from what I initially envisioned. Shifting my focus to quality content and realistic expectations became paramount.
The Turning Point – Investing in Improvement
Strategic Learning and Content Optimization
The turning point arrived when I delved into learning how to optimize content effectively. A pivotal resource was the book "The YouTube Formula," providing insights into YouTube analytics, click-through rates, and the art of crafting compelling thumbnails.
Copying Success and Iterative Improvement
Analyzing my own performance and studying successful channels, I adopted a strategy of iterative improvement. Recognizing what worked, I refined my content creation process. The focus shifted from constantly reinventing to strategically optimizing based on proven success.
Current Success and Looking Ahead
Consistency Pays Off
After implementing these strategies, the results began to show. The channel's growth surpassed expectations, with increased views, click-through rates, and subscriber numbers. The journey of consistency, coupled with strategic learning, led to a notable transformation in a relatively short time.
The Future of the Channel
As I reflect on my journey, I recognize that this is just the beginning of a promising upward curve. The success achieved so far motivates me to continue refining and enhancing my content. The channel, now at 7,000 subscribers, is poised for further growth, and the lessons learned along the way continue to shape its trajectory.
In conclusion, my YouTube journey has been a rollercoaster of challenges, lessons, and eventual triumphs. If you're contemplating starting your own channel or pursuing any long-desired goal, let this story serve as a testament to the power of consistency, adaptability, and a willingness to learn. Embrace imperfections, stay committed, and always be open to refining your approach based on what works. The path to success may be winding, but the destination is worth every step.

Are you ready to take your business to the next level? I'm thrilled to discuss the habits of successful six and seven-figure business owners that can transform your entrepreneurial journey. Drawing from my experiences, coaching sessions, and insights gathered from industry leaders, we'll explore lifestyle changes that go beyond the strategic and tactical aspects of business. These changes, embraced by high-level entrepreneurs, focus on personal growth, well-being, and mindset shifts. Join me on this journey as we delve into four key habits that can propel you toward success.
Prioritizing Energy and Feeling Good
Success begins with feeling good from the inside out. Many successful entrepreneurs emphasize the importance of prioritizing energy and making personal well-being a top priority. This goes beyond superficial indulgences and dives deep into foundational self-care. Whether it's taking a brief walk, ensuring a healthy diet, or carving out moments of personal time, these small changes can lead to significant improvements. Learn how to say no to activities that drain your energy and yes to those that nurture your well-being. Remember, a full cup allows you to overflow positively into all aspects of your life.
Inputting Good Things into Your Brain
Fuel your mind with positivity and knowledge. Successful entrepreneurs actively seek good inputs for their brains, whether through reading self-development books, listening to educational podcasts, or engaging in activities that stimulate creativity. Simultaneously, they eliminate negative inputs, such as avoiding content that induces fear or stress. By being intentional about what you feed your mind, you empower yourself to generate innovative ideas and maintain a resilient mindset.
Spotting Limiting Beliefs and Rewriting Them
Challenge the thoughts that hold you back. Successful entrepreneurs recognize the power of questioning limiting beliefs. Understand that just because you have a thought doesn't make it true. By actively questioning and rewriting limiting beliefs, you open yourself up to new possibilities. Explore real-life examples of individuals transforming their perspectives and achieving their goals by challenging the validity of their own thoughts. Journaling can be a powerful tool in this process, allowing you to identify and overcome limiting beliefs.
Getting in the Room with Successful Individuals
Surround yourself with those who have achieved what you aspire to accomplish. Successful entrepreneurs understand the impact of their surroundings and actively seek environments where they can learn and grow. Whether it's joining coaching programs, business masterminds, or online communities, getting in the room with individuals further along the journey is a game-changer. Discover the power of networking and how being in the company of successful peers can propel you towards your goals.
As we wrap up this exploration of habits that elevate your business, remember that success is not only about strategic business decisions but also about personal growth and mindset shifts. Embrace the power of feeling good, positive inputs, rewriting limiting beliefs, and surrounding yourself with successful individuals. These habits have played a significant role in my own journey, and I encourage you to incorporate them into your entrepreneurial path. Take charge of your well-being, challenge your limiting beliefs, and connect with those who inspire you. The journey to success is not a solitary one – let's build a community of thriving entrepreneurs together.

In the journey of personal and professional growth, there comes a time when we stumble upon concepts that seem otherworldly, like manifestation. For me, that moment arrived almost two years ago, triggered by a book recommended in a business Facebook group. At first, I associated manifestation with a mystical, woo-woo practice, but as I delved deeper, I discovered its practicality. This podcast aims to demystify manifestation, offering a step-by-step guide based on my experiences.
Discovering Manifestation
Before my introduction to manifestation, I was oblivious to its influence on successful entrepreneurs and business leaders. Little did I know that principles of manifestation were intricately woven into discussions about money mindset, overcoming limiting beliefs, and self-improvement. As I explored podcasts and books, I found parallels with my experiences in cognitive behavioral therapy. Manifestation, far from a mystical concept, emerged as a structured, actionable process.
Understanding Manifestation
Manifestation, in essence, is not a magical wish but a systematic approach to achieving goals. The core belief is that you attract what you believe or perceive about yourself and your capabilities. If you believe in your potential to achieve a goal—be it financial success or personal growth—your brain aligns itself to work towards that reality. However, if you harbor doubts or limiting beliefs, you hinder your brain's creative process.
The Steps of Manifestation
Call Your Shot:
Declare your goals boldly and officially.Overcome logical objections and limiting beliefs that may arise.Rewrite Limiting Beliefs:
Recognize and question limiting beliefs.Journaling and creating empowered thoughts help reshape beliefs.Affirmations serve as powerful tools to combat and rewrite limiting beliefs.Visualize Your Goals:
Imagine and feel the emotions associated with achieving your goals.Practice gratitude by acknowledging existing feelings of success, empowerment, and security in your life.Take Inspired Action:
Translate your goals into actionable steps.Consistent, tangible efforts align with your new beliefs and feelings.Actions can be both concrete (e.g., financial education) and less tangible (e.g., creating a positive mindset).Release Expectations:
Surrender the need for specific timelines or rigid plans.Remain open to unexpected opportunities and pathways to success.A Personal Journey
Reflecting on my journey, I share how my initial desire to increase income led me to unexpected ventures, like starting a YouTube channel and creating online courses. The key was remaining open to opportunities that didn't align with my preconceived notions.
Manifestation is not a magic trick but a transformative process rooted in belief, visualization, action, and openness. By understanding and applying these steps, you can unlock the potential to manifest your goals, fostering personal and financial growth. It's not about controlling the journey but about trusting the process and allowing success to unfold in ways you might not have imagined. So, call your shot, rewrite those limiting beliefs, visualize your success, take inspired action, and release expectations—watch how manifestation transforms your life.

Group Lessons vs. One-on-One Lessons:
Group lessons and one-on-one lessons are distinct offers in the world of music education. Each carries its own set of characteristics, advantages, and challenges. In this discussion, we'll unravel these elements, dispelling myths and exploring the potential of both approaches.
Understanding Offers and Containers:
To comprehend the differences between group and one-on-one lessons, it's crucial to think of them as separate offers, each with its unique container. An offer encompasses the audience it caters to, the promises it makes, and various other factors such as pricing and timeline. Recognizing these distinctions allows for a more nuanced evaluation of the pros and cons associated with each type of lesson.
Pros and Cons of One-on-One Lessons:
One-on-one lessons offer unparalleled customization, providing a high-touch experience that is often highly valued. The teacher can tailor the curriculum, materials, and approach to the individual student. The progress of the student is closely monitored, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of their strengths and areas of improvement. However, the limitations include a finite impact, potential struggles with peer-to-peer learning, and a significant time commitment.
Benefits of Group Lessons:
Group lessons, when approached as a separate and well-designed offer, bring a unique set of benefits. The curriculum can be structured around specific topics or timelines, enhancing the learning experience. The creativity in designing group containers allows for diverse teaching methods, fostering peer-to-peer learning, and creating a social environment. The group dynamic unlocks learning opportunities that go beyond the capabilities of one-on-one lessons.
Dispelling Myths and Embracing Group Lesson Value:
One common misconception is that group lessons are inferior or less effective than one-on-one instruction. To successfully offer group lessons, it's crucial to challenge and change this belief. Ask better questions, such as how group lessons can be made as valuable or even more so than one-on-one lessons. Recognizing the distinct advantages of group lessons, such as peer-to-peer learning and a communal learning environment, can reshape perceptions.
Customization in Group Lessons:
While group lessons may not offer the same level of customization as one-on-one instruction, creative solutions exist. Utilizing digital platforms, establishing group communication channels, and incorporating supplementary materials can enhance the overall experience. Setting clear communication channels and response times helps manage expectations.
Balancing Touchpoints in Group Lessons:
Deciding the level of touchpoints in group lessons is crucial. Whether it's a fully digital course or a high-touch group class with additional one-on-one support, it's essential to consider the time and energy required. Striking a balance between accessibility and time commitment ensures an effective and sustainable group lesson model.
Exciting News for 2024:
A sneak peek into 2024 reveals exciting plans for a comprehensive program aimed at music teachers eager to transition beyond traditional one-on-one lessons. The program will guide teachers in moving online, creating scalable offers, and building a community of engaged students.
As we conclude our exploration of group and one-on-one music lessons, it's clear that each approach offers its unique advantages. By recognizing them as separate offers and containers, music educators can maximize the potential of both. Embracing the creativity and benefits of group lessons while respecting the customization of one-on-one instruction opens up new possibilities for both teachers and students alike. Stay tuned for more insights into the evolving landscape of music education!

Today, we're not only delving into the incredible teaching capabilities of Note Quest but also unraveling the journey of its creator – the challenges, triumphs, and invaluable lessons learned in bringing this innovative tool to life.
Note Quest: Bridging Gaps in Music Education
Grace delves into the intriguing space between ideation and execution. The initial spark for Note Quest was a struggle she identified, one that needed resolution. However, the leap from idea to reality was fraught with challenges. Grace candidly shares the doubts, the almost-give-up moments, and the resilience that kept her going...
After the initial release, I had to stay involved, keep learning, and keep making enhancements.
One of the key lessons I learned during this phase was the importance of communication. Working with a team overseas meant dealing with time zone differences and language barriers. I had to find effective ways to convey my musical ideas and teaching methods to a team that might not have the same background. It required patience and clarity in communication.
As the app started gaining traction, I also had to wear the hat of a marketer. It wasn't just about creating a great product; it was about letting the world know that it existed. I delved into social media, attended conventions, and reached out to teachers to spread the word. Building a community around the app became crucial for its success.
The journey was far from smooth. There were moments of self-doubt, times when the challenges seemed insurmountable, and the financial strain of being a solo entrepreneur weighed on me. However, every positive review, every message from a teacher or student saying the app made a difference, fueled my determination to push forward.
Over the years, the app has evolved. We've introduced new features, refined the user interface, and adapted to the changing needs of music educators. It's not just a static creation; it's a living, breathing entity that grows and improves with time.
Now, as I reflect on the six years since the app's inception, I can see the progress and impact it has made. It's not just a tool for sight-reading; it's a tool for empowering teachers and students, making the process of learning music more enjoyable and effective.
To those who have a creative idea but are hesitant to take the plunge, my advice is to embrace the journey. It won't be easy, and there will be moments of uncertainty, but that's part of the process. Stay humble, seek feedback, and be open to continuous improvement. The road to success is rarely a straight line, but the lessons learned along the way are invaluable.
Follow @notequest on Instagram and DM Grace with the words: "PP Teacher" or "PP Student" (whichever applies) and your email. Grace will send you a promo code redeemable ONE FREE month of Sight Reading (iOS). Android users will receive a comparable gift (PDF resource). Offer expires November 20.

We're excited to discuss a topic that can transform your business and take it to the next level. We understand that there are numerous mistakes entrepreneurs make that hinder their progress toward achieving a six-figure income. While there are many aspects to cover, we will focus on two common mistakes that often go unnoticed. These mistakes are rooted in making emotional decisions instead of relying on solid business strategies.
The Power of Being in the Right Room
Before we dive into the topic, let's start by discussing the importance of being in the right environment. Last week, I had the opportunity to attend a two-day, in-person workshop hosted by my business coach. This workshop brought together like-minded individuals, members of the same Mastermind group, who shared similar goals and aspirations. The energy in the room was electric, and I gained valuable insights and inspiration. Being surrounded by people who are on the same journey can be a game-changer, and I encourage you to seek out such opportunities in your entrepreneurial path.
The Mistakes Rooted in Emotional Decisions
Now, let's explore the two common mistakes that can hinder your progress toward reaching a six-figure income. These mistakes often sneak up on us and seem like good ideas at the time. However, they can seriously stunt your business growth. Both mistakes are connected to making emotional decisions rather than relying on data and standard operating procedures.
Mistake #1: Responding Quickly
Imagine this scenario: you receive an email from a potential student inquiring about your services. You're excited and decide to reply right away, even if it's during your non-business hours. While this may seem like a proactive approach, it has several drawbacks. It's not sustainable in the long term, as you can't scale your business by responding instantly to inquiries. Additionally, it doesn't set boundaries for your clients, teaching them that you're always available. Making decisions based on excitement or fear is not a sound business practice. Instead, create a standard operating procedure for handling inquiries, which saves time, and energy, and ensures consistent, professional responses.
Mistake #2: Reacting to Price Objections
Another common mistake is reacting emotionally to price objections from potential clients. When someone claims your services are too expensive, it's natural to feel uncomfortable. However, immediately offering discounts or altering your rates can be detrimental to your business. Such decisions are often driven by fear and scarcity, and they are not scalable. Your standard operating procedure should outline when and how you adjust rates or offer discounts, based on a well-thought-out business strategy, not impulsive reactions.
The Importance of Standard Operating Procedures:
Standard operating procedures are crucial in streamlining your business operations. They help you avoid making emotional decisions and enable you to work smarter, not harder. Automating repetitive tasks and creating procedures for common scenarios make your business more efficient and scalable. Whether it's crafting template responses for inquiries or setting up automated responses, standard operating procedures save time, and energy, and allow you to delegate tasks in the future.
Collecting Data and Setting Thresholds:
Lastly, collect data to inform your decisions. Seek feedback from clients, potential clients, or anyone who interacts with your business. Remember that one piece of feedback is not enough to make significant changes. Set thresholds for when you should reevaluate your business strategies based on collected data. Making changes rooted in solid data and standard operating procedures positions your business for sustainable growth.
In conclusion, avoid making emotional decisions in your business. Instead, adopt standard operating procedures, streamline your processes, and collect data to inform your choices. By following these practices, you'll create a sustainable and scalable business that can lead you to a six-figure income and beyond. If you're ready to take your business to the next level, consider private business coaching or a content audit to refine your strategies.

Setting the right price for your services, products, or courses can be a daunting task. It's a decision that can have a significant impact on your business and income. In this blog post, we will explore the three questions you should avoid asking when determining your pricing strategy and three questions that will help you set prices that align with your goals and provide value to your clients.
The Questions to Avoid:
What Will People Pay?
One of the most common pricing pitfalls is trying to predict what customers will pay. However, this question leads to a guessing game, as it's impossible to accurately gauge what people are willing to spend. Your target audience, the value you provide, and your competition all play a role in the perceived value of your offering. Instead of trying to mind-read your potential customers, focus on setting a price that reflects your worth and the value you offer.
When you ask, "What will people pay?" you risk undervaluing yourself, which ultimately hinders your financial success. Experimentation with pricing may reveal that cheaper does not necessarily lead to more sales. The key is to set a price that aligns with your goals and provides value to your clients, even if it might initially seem higher than expected.
What Are Others Charging?
Many business owners believe they should align their prices with their competitors. This notion often leads to undervaluing your services or products. Prices should be personal and based on your business goals, not dictated by what others are doing. If you charge less than you should because others in your industry do the same, you risk shortchanging yourself and the industry as a whole.
Instead of looking at what others are charging, focus on your long-term financial goals and what you need to achieve them. By setting your prices based on your income targets and the value you provide, you will not only safeguard your financial future but also ensure that you are fairly compensated for your work.
Will People Think This Is Too Much?
The fear of judgment can hold you back from charging what you believe you are worth. This question often stems from self-doubt and a lack of confidence in the value you offer. Remember that no matter what price you set, some people will think it's too much. Not everyone will be your ideal client, and that's perfectly fine.
When you let the fear of judgment dictate your prices, you risk undervaluing your work and compromising your financial goals. Instead, focus on communicating the value of your offering to those who see its worth. The only opinion that truly matters is that of your target audience who recognizes and appreciates the value you provide.
The Questions You Should Ask:
How Much Money Do I Want to Make?
A critical step in setting your prices is to determine how much money you want to earn. By establishing a specific income goal, you can work backward to calculate the pricing strategy needed to achieve it. For instance, if you want to make $100,000 a year and can only teach 25 hours a week, you'll need to charge approximately $77 per hour, assuming you work 52 weeks a year. This approach helps you set realistic pricing aligned with your financial objectives.
It's crucial to consider the practical aspects of your business, such as taxes and operational costs when setting your prices. By calculating your income requirements, you can create a clear financial plan for your business.
What Do I Want to Charge?
Instead of being influenced by external factors, ask yourself what you want to charge. Remove any limiting beliefs and focus on a number that excites you. Trust your instincts and inner guidance to determine a price that reflects the value you provide. Don't let fear or self-doubt hold you back from setting a price that aligns with your worth.
To find your ideal price, take some time to meditate or clear your mind. Visualize your business's future and ask yourself what feels right. Let go of external pressures and honor your unique pricing decision.
What Is My Long-Term Plan?
Consider how your pricing strategy fits into your long-term business goals. Will you raise your prices annually, and if so, by how much? Are you planning to phase out certain services in favor of new offerings? These questions help you create a pricing strategy that aligns with your broader business vision.
By thinking about the long-term implications of your pricing decisions, you can anticipate how your income will evolve over time. It also allows you to set realistic targets and plan for the growth of your business.
Setting the right prices for your services, products, or courses is essential for achieving your financial goals and providing value to your clients. By avoiding common pricing pitfalls and asking the right questions, you can create a pricing strategy that aligns with your business objectives and paves the way for long-term success. Trust your instincts, honor your worth, and always consider the bigger picture when making pricing decisions.

Today, we're diving into some honest and vulnerable truths about scaling your music business. I want to share my personal journey and insights because I believe it's essential to realize that the path to success is not always smooth. It's easy to look at successful individuals and assume they have all the answers, but the reality is, they face their own challenges and uncertainties. So, let's explore some key aspects of this journey and how you can navigate them.
Rarely Hitting Your Goals:
The first truth I want to share is that I rarely hit my goals. It's important to understand that setting ambitious goals is part of the growth process. Whether you hit them or not, the journey towards those goals is where you gain valuable experience and learning. Don't be discouraged if you don't achieve all your goals – growth and progress matter more than the final numbers.
The Role of Mindset
Scaling your music business involves a lot of mindset work. I used to believe that practical business goals were the essence of success, but I couldn't have been more wrong. Your mindset plays a significant role in your journey. Overcoming limiting beliefs, self-doubt, and self-worth issues is critical. It's not about the end goal; it's about what you learn on the way there.
Avoiding the Roller Coaster:
Many entrepreneurs get caught up in a daily roller coaster of emotions. One day, they celebrate a success, and the next day, they doubt everything. To make real progress, you must learn to zoom out and focus on long-term goals. Don't let the daily ups and downs dictate your path; keep your eyes on the bigger picture.
Technology Frustration:
Technology can be a real source of frustration for many. Embrace the fact that you may not be a tech expert. Everyone starts somewhere, and it's perfectly fine to seek out information and learn as you go. The key is not to let technology obstacles hold you back.
Overwhelmed by New Skills:
The process of learning new skills can be overwhelming. Accept that it's okay to be a beginner. Being a novice at something doesn't make you less capable. Embrace the excitement of learning and growing, and let it drive you forward.
Scaling your music business is an incredible journey filled with challenges and triumphs. Embrace these truths and use them as stepping stones to propel your business to new heights. Remember, everyone starts as a beginner, and the journey is more important than the destination. So, keep pushing forward, learning, and growing, and you'll achieve your goals. It's all part of the beautiful journey of building a successful music business.

I'm excited to share a content creation hack that has taken my content skills to the next level and helped many of my clients become content creation pros.
Before diving into the details of this hack, it's crucial to understand that not all content is created equal. There's a significant difference between simply putting something out online and creating compelling content that converts, engages your audience, and attracts potential customers. In this episode, we'll explore a strategy to make your content more compelling and effective.
The Foundation: Selecting Your Content Type
To start with this hack, the first decision you need to make is selecting one specific type of content. This choice should remain consistent for at least a month. This consistency allows you to develop your content creation skills effectively. Here are some content types to consider:
Blog PostsEmails to Your SubscribersInstagram ReelsYouTube VideosFacebook PostsTikTok VideosEducational TutorialsChoose the one that best suits your style and audience. The goal is to become proficient in creating one content type before diversifying.
Content Categories: Educational vs. Entertainment
Within the world of content creation, there are different categories to explore. For this hack, we'll focus on two significant categories: Educational and Entertainment. These two categories create a clear distinction, allowing you to tailor your content effectively.
Educational: You provide valuable insights, knowledge, and expertise on a particular topic. Your content aims to educate and inform your audience.Entertainment: Your content aims to engage and entertain your audience through humor, relatable stories, or engaging visuals. While some creators focus exclusively on one category, I recommend diversifying your content creation to appeal to a broader audience.
Selecting Your Topic
Now, choose a topic you're passionate about or believe strongly in. This topic will serve as the basis for your content for the month. For instance, if you're a piano teacher, you might choose "Rhythm" as your topic. Your goal is to create content around this theme that's either educational or entertaining.
The Hack: Creating Compelling Content
Once you've made these initial decisions, it's time to put the hack into action. Here's a step-by-step guide:
- Choose Your Platform: Stick with one platform for at least a month. Whether it's Instagram Reels, YouTube, or another channel, this consistency will help you improve your content creation skills.Select Your Content Category: Decide if you want to create educational or entertainment content for the month. This choice guides your content's tone and style.Topic Selection: Use your chosen topic as the core theme for your content. In our example, if you're focusing on "Rhythm," your content for the month should revolve around this subject.Create Regular Content: Commit to creating content consistently. Whether it's daily, weekly, or a few times a month, practice is key. Regular practice will help you improve your content creation skills significantly.Include a Call to Action (CTA): Ensure your content includes a clear call to action. This could be to comment, like, share, sign up for a free resource, or make a purchase. The CTA guides your audience on what to do next.Elevate Your Writing: When writing the content, aim for depth and clarity. Use phrases like "so that" or "without" to add depth to your content. For example, explain why your topic matters and how it benefits your audience. This added layer of detail makes your content more compelling.Content Audit: If possible, have someone review your content to offer feedback. It's helpful to get a fresh perspective and see where you can improve.
By following this content creation hack consistently, you'll strengthen your content creation skills and become more proficient in creating compelling, engaging content.
Take Your Skills to the Next Level
If you're interested in taking your content creation skills even further, consider participating in a content audit workshop. In these workshops, you'll receive feedback on your content while learning from others' audits. It's an excellent opportunity to enhance your content creation abilities.
Remember that content creation is a skill that can be developed with practice and guidance. With dedication and regular practice, you can create content that captivates your audience, drives engagement, and ultimately attracts more customers to your business.
So, commit to a content creation goal and get started on the journey to mastering compelling content. Your efforts will pay off, and you'll see significant improvements in your content creation skills in the coming weeks and months.

In the world of business, experience is often the best teacher. When you take on new challenges, whether it's hosting a free event or launching a new product, you learn valuable lessons along the way. In this podcast, we'll delve into six key takeaways from my personal experience launching products/events. These takeaways are not only applicable to those in the music education industry but also to anyone looking to grow their business effectively.
The Power of Energy
The first takeaway is all about energy – specifically, the energy I put into events. The excitement and energy levels tend to fluctuate during the different phases of launching a new project. Initially, the creative process fills me with enthusiasm, but as the time comes to promote or sell it, I find myself feeling negative or disheartened. I encourage you to examine your own energy when promoting new ideas or products. I want to emphasize the importance of maintaining a positive mindset throughout the entire process.
Don't Give Up Easily
The second takeaway is a reminder not to give up after just one attempt. With Piano Practice Lab I've hosted three times. After the first event, only one person joined. I could have easily given up. However, we need to be persistent. Real growth and success often require multiple attempts, learning from each one and refining your approach. Instead of quitting, ask yourself what can be improved and try again.
Communicate Value
The third takeaway revolves around effectively communicating the value of your offerings to your customers. I advise against simply listing features or what you believe is essential. Instead, put yourself in your customers' shoes and explain how your product or service benefits them. Help them see why it's valuable and how it can address their needs or problems. By focusing on the customer's perspective, you'll be more convincing and engaging.
Be Convicted
Belief in what you're promoting is crucial. My fourth takeaway emphasizes the importance of conviction. If you don't genuinely believe in your product or service, it will be challenging to convey its value to others. Your energy and enthusiasm should reflect your strong belief in what you're offering. Conviction can be a powerful tool in sales and marketing.
Implement Repeatable Systems
My fifth takeaway introduces the concept of repeatable systems. I want to highlight the benefits of creating organized and repeatable processes for promoting and running events or products. By doing so, you save time and effort in the long run, as you won't have to reinvent the wheel each time. Having a structured system in place streamlines your business operations and ensures consistency.
Capture Data
The final takeaway emphasizes the value of data. I encourage businesses to capture data, such as customer behavior, engagement rates, and feedback. By analyzing this information, you gain valuable insights that can inform your decision-making and strategy. It helps you make informed choices based on facts rather than emotions, ultimately leading to better outcomes.
Hosting a free event like Piano Practice Lab has provided me with valuable business insights. These six takeaways – focusing on energy, perseverance, effective communication, conviction, repeatable systems, and data capture – can benefit any business owner looking to grow and succeed. By applying these lessons, you can navigate challenges and make informed decisions that drive your business forward.

Today's episode will be more of a pep talk focusing on the mindset piece that plays a significant role in your success. Stick with me, and you'll leave feeling inspired.
Mindset Matters
Before we dive into the tips, let's emphasize the importance of the mindset piece. While practical knowledge and skills are essential, your mindset is a daily practice. It's about embracing the right beliefs and actively working on becoming the person you want to be. Your business growth is a reflection of your personal growth, so nurturing a positive mindset is a lifelong journey.
Tip 1: Believe in Your Worthiness
The first and most fundamental tip is to believe in your worthiness. You are inherently worthy of your desires, whether it's a better life, a thriving business, or more freedom in your schedule. Many people struggle with believing they deserve success. This belief in your own worthiness is the foundation upon which you build your journey. Remember, you are worthy simply because you are.
Tip 2: Stop Asking for Permission
Stop seeking external validation or permission to pursue your dreams. You don't need someone else's approval to take action. Waiting for permission can hold you back from making progress. Give yourself permission to go after what you want, and know that you have the power to make your dreams a reality.
Tip 3: Believe in What You Do
Believe in your products or services so strongly that selling them doesn't feel icky. If you genuinely believe that what you offer can positively impact people's lives, selling becomes a way to share value, not a transaction. When you are confident in the value you provide, sales will no longer feel uncomfortable.
Conclusion
Your journey to success is influenced by your mindset, your beliefs, and your ability to overcome mental roadblocks. By adopting these three tips – believing in your worthiness, stopping the need for external permission, and believing in what you do – you can build a winning mindset. Remember, you are worthy, you have the power, and you offer value that can make the world a better place.

In this episode, we'll explore three toxic beliefs many people hold about social media marketing and content creation that can hold you back from achieving your goals. I've come a long way in my own relationship with social media, from negative energy to embracing it as a powerful tool. Let's dive into these beliefs and how to overcome them.
Belief #1: Needing to Know What Others Are Doing
One common piece of advice is to research what others in your niche are doing. While this can be useful for inspiration, it can also lead to analysis paralysis. It's easy to get stuck in the research phase, seeing what successful people are doing, and feeling overwhelmed or discouraged.
Solution: Instead of obsessing over others, use their success as motivation. Recognize that if others are thriving in your niche, there's a demand for it. Shift your mindset to believe that you, too, can succeed by offering your unique perspective.
Belief #2: Needing to Schedule or Batch Content
Many believe they must schedule or batch content to be successful. However, if you're not consistently creating content, focusing on scheduling and batching can overwhelm you.
Solution:Start by making content creation a non-negotiable part of your routine. Consistency is key. Once you've established a regular content creation habit, then you can explore scheduling and batching.
Belief #3: Your Content Isn't Good Enough
This belief is a significant roadblock. Thinking your content isn't good enough can lead to self-doubt and fear of judgment, hindering your online presence.
Solution: Shift your mindset. Remember that your unique experiences, expertise, and insights are valuable. Your content will improve over time, and your initial efforts should make you cringe—it's a sign of growth. Embrace the journey of improvement.
I hope these insights have helped you recognize and overcome some toxic beliefs about social media marketing. Remember, your unique brilliance is your strength. Believe in yourself, stay consistent, and keep improving. You've got this!

Today's topic is a continuation of a previous episode, specifically Episode 14, which delved into the notion that what you believe about money can come true. That episode sparked a flurry of messages, questions, and overwhelmingly positive responses. People were excited about the insights and found them to be incredibly valuable. However, many of you had a common query: What's next? How do you change your money beliefs and take the next steps? While I offered some guidance in that episode, today, I'm thrilled to take a deeper dive into three powerful methods for transforming your money beliefs to elevate your business.
1. Embrace Affirmations
Let's begin with affirmations, a practice that might initially seem a bit unfamiliar or even cheesy. Affirmations involve speaking positive statements to yourself in the present tense, even if you don't fully believe them yet. The goal is to cultivate new, empowering beliefs. Affirmations can be a game-changer because they reprogram your subconscious mind, which is often influenced by outdated beliefs.
To get started with affirmations, you can follow guided recordings on platforms like YouTube or podcasts. Repetition is key. Even if you feel like you're faking it at first, keep going. Over time, you'll start to notice a shift in your thought patterns. Affirmations can be as simple as "I am safe, secure, and loved," or "Money flows to me effortlessly." The magic happens when these positive affirmations replace old negative scripts in your mind, especially during challenging times.
2. Practice Gratitude
Gratitude isn't just about listing things you're thankful for; it's about deeply appreciating the positive aspects of your life. When it comes to money, practicing gratitude can be transformative. It's not limited to financial abundance; it extends to recognizing the value of the services, infrastructure, and conveniences money provides.
For instance, consider your tax payments. Instead of dreading them, be grateful for the services they support, like roads, schools, and waste disposal. Acknowledge the everyday conveniences you might take for granted. When you truly feel gratitude for money's impact on your life, it can change your perspective and energy around financial matters.
3. Journal About Money
Journaling about money is a powerful tool for self-reflection and transformation. You can use your journal in various ways:
Explore your current money beliefs and identify those that may be limiting your success.Release past negative experiences or beliefs about money that no longer serve you.Write about the financial situation you aspire to have, using the present tense. Describe it without limitations, as if it has already manifested.Journaling helps you clarify your beliefs, desires, and intentions related to money. It reinforces the new beliefs you want to adopt and allows you to examine your progress over time.
These practices may feel strange or uncomfortable initially, but consistency is key. Repetition and dedication are essential to rewiring your beliefs about money. Remember that changing your beliefs is an ongoing journey, not a one-time fix.

In today’s podcast, we'll delve into six strategies that can help you increase your income over time.
Auto Bill and Auto Pay: An Investment in Future Efficiency
Implementing auto bill and auto pay systems might not yield immediate income growth. In fact, setting up these systems could initially be time-consuming and demanding. However, over time, they will save you valuable hours and energy. By automating your billing processes, you reduce the need to chase payments, send reminders, and handle late fees. This time and energy savings can be reinvested in other income-generating activities. Additionally, parents often prefer auto payment methods, making it easier for them to pay promptly and consistently.
Master Your Business Accounting: Your Path to Informed Decision-Making
Effective financial management is the backbone of any successful business. Whether you're a sole proprietor or running a larger operation, having a structured accounting system is essential. Start by opening a separate business account to centralize income and expenses. Allocate a percentage for reserves to cover unexpected costs, such as taxes or equipment maintenance. If you're ready to take your financial management to the next level, consider reading "Profit First," a book that provides a comprehensive framework for managing business finances efficiently.
Harness the Power of Online Group Lessons
Online group lessons can be a game-changer in terms of income growth. While some might associate group lessons with traditional piano instruction, they can be far more diverse. Teaching adults in online groups or offering specialized topics can lead to scalable income. Think beyond traditional one-on-one lessons and explore new avenues to leverage your expertise.
Overcome Fear and Take Action
Don't let fear hold you back from pursuing your dreams. Whenever you encounter a daunting idea or a challenging decision, embrace it as an opportunity for growth. Investigate your fears, ask questions, and challenge limiting beliefs. Often, what scares you the most is precisely where your greatest potential lies. Taking action, even when you're scared, is a powerful way to pave the path to financial success.
Create Consistent, Compelling Content
Consistently producing compelling content is like building a savings account with compound interest. While it might not yield immediate results, it's an investment in your brand and expertise. Over time, your audience will grow, leading to more significant opportunities and income potential. Remember that content creation is a skill that improves with practice and persistence.
Embrace Rate Increases: A Reflection of Your Worth
Raising your rates can be a powerful tool for increasing your income. However, it's not just about the money; it's about your mindset. Believing that you are worthy of higher rates is a crucial step in this process. Each time you raise your rates, you gain confidence and break free from limiting beliefs about money. Embrace rate increases as a reflection of your worth and take pride in valuing your expertise appropriately.
Achieving financial success and increasing your income isn't an overnight endeavor. It involves a combination of strategic decisions, mindset shifts, and consistent actions. By implementing the six strategies mentioned above, you'll set yourself on a path toward sustainable financial growth. Remember that the journey might be challenging at times, but with determination and a focus on long-term benefits, you can achieve the financial success you desire.

Today, let's talk about the surprising benefits of diving in and figuring stuff out.
I believe that embracing this mindset of "diving in" and "figuring things out" can be a game-changer in your teaching business, regardless of your busy schedule or other commitments. So, let's explore the benefits of taking that leap.
1. Believing It's Possible
The first step in this journey is believing that it's possible. Often, we doubt ourselves and our abilities, coming up with all sorts of reasons why we can't achieve something. Maybe you think you need a formal degree or more training before you can take your business to the next level. But the truth is, we live in a time where information is readily available, often for free, on the internet.
Instead of doubting yourself, choose to adopt a growth mindset. Understand that you can learn and acquire the skills you need as you go. Don't use a lack of formal qualifications as an excuse. Trust that you already possess the capability to learn and adapt.
2. Acquiring the Knowledge
Once you believe it's possible, it's time to acquire the knowledge needed to make your vision a reality. This may involve some research and learning, but it doesn't have to be overwhelming. While it's easy to get lost in a sea of information, it's crucial to strike a balance between acquiring enough knowledge and taking action.
For example, when I started my YouTube channel, I spent hours researching how to create and edit videos. While the information was helpful, what truly gave me confidence was diving in and creating content. You don't need to be an expert before you start – sometimes, the best teacher is experienced.
3. Just Do It
Now comes the most crucial step – just do it. Once you have some basic knowledge and a belief in your capabilities, take that first step. It's common to feel overwhelmed or uncertain at this stage, but remember that everyone starts somewhere. Your first attempts might not be perfect, and that's okay.
When I began my YouTube channel, I was told that no one watches the first few videos. And that's true for many endeavors – initial efforts might not yield immediate results, but they are vital for your growth. So, take that leap, create that first video, or launch that new program. Don't let fear hold you back.
4. Don't Give Up and Be Consistent
The journey doesn't end after your first attempt; it's essential to keep going and stay consistent. Many people start but don't continue. The key difference between those who succeed and those who don't is persistence.
You might encounter challenges, face setbacks, or feel like giving up at times. But remember that the only difference between you and someone further along the path is that they didn't quit. Stay committed to your goal and keep pushing forward, even when it gets tough.
5. Refining As You Go
As you take action and continue your journey, you'll naturally learn and grow. This is where the magic happens. You'll discover what works and what doesn't. Your skills will improve, your processes will become more efficient, and you'll refine your approach.
For example, my content creation process has evolved significantly over the years. I've streamlined my methods, reduced the time required, and enhanced the quality of my work. This didn't happen overnight but through continuous learning and refinement.
In the end, embracing the mindset of diving in and figuring things out can lead to tremendous personal and professional growth. You have everything you need inside you to take that first step, acquire the necessary knowledge, and persist through challenges. Trust in yourself, and don't let fear hold you back. Start today by choosing one thing you've been hesitant to tackle and take that first step.
In a few months or a year, you'll be amazed at the progress you've made. Remember, the only difference between you and those you admire is that they didn't give up. So, keep going and keep growing!

In this episode, we're diving into a topic that's both exciting and profitable: five effective ways to increase your income right now. If the idea of boosting your earnings has you feeling overwhelmed or uncertain, don't worry. I've been there too, but trust me, it's not as daunting as it seems. In fact, by the end of this episode, you'll likely have a fresh perspective on income growth strategies.
So, let's jump right in and explore these five ways that can significantly impact your income as a piano teacher.
1. Raise Your Rates: The Game-Changing Move
Let's start with the elephant in the room: your rates. If you're like most piano teachers, you may be undercharging for your valuable services. This not only affects your own earnings but also devalues the entire industry. Think about it – if you raise your rates to reflect the true value you offer, it's a win-win situation. Your income increases, and you're helping elevate the standards for piano teaching.
Imagine doubling your rates and potentially losing some students in the process. While this might sound risky, consider this: you'll be making the same income for half the work. By charging what you're worth, you're not only investing in yourself but also shifting the perception of piano lessons.
2. Embrace Group Classes: A Creative Approach
Group classes are an exciting way to add value to your teaching and increase your income. Don't let the term "group classes" limit your thinking; they can be more diverse than you imagine. Group classes can cover various topics, from technique and music history to performance practice and music theory. By introducing group classes, you enhance your students' experience, foster a sense of community, and potentially generate additional income.
3. Get Paid for Recommendations: Monetize Your Expertise
Did you know you can turn your recommendations into income? If you frequently suggest specific books or resources to your students, consider affiliate marketing. Platforms like Sheet Music Plus and Amazon offer affiliate programs that allow you to earn a commission for each sale made through your referral links. This turns your role as a mentor into a revenue-generating opportunity.
4. Organize Musical Events and Workshops: A Platform for Growth
Hosting musical events, workshops, and classes within your community is not only fulfilling but can also boost your income. Partner with local organizations, nursing homes, or community centers to organize recitals, workshops, or even continuing education classes for adults. These events not only showcase your expertise but also act as effective marketing tools, expanding your network and increasing your reach.
5. Create Online Content and Courses: The Power of Online
In today's digital age, creating online content and courses can be a game-changer for your income. While it may take time to build a substantial following, platforms like Coursera and Udemy offer the opportunity to monetize your expertise. You can also consider sharing resources, and tutorials, or even starting a YouTube channel to showcase your teaching approach and attract new students.
Remember, the journey towards increasing your income is not only about financial gains but also about personal and professional growth. So, keep an open mind, explore these strategies, and most importantly, believe in your potential to succeed.
If you found these insights helpful, don't forget to leave a review and share the podcast with your fellow piano teachers. Let's empower each other to thrive in the world of piano education.

3 Ways to Level Up Your Studio Policy
Today, I want to dive into a topic that's close to my heart—how to navigate challenging conversations with your clients. But before we get into that, I have a personal insight to share that might just change the way you approach obstacles in your business.
Over the past few months, I've been wrestling with a significant issue in my business. While I'm not ready to reveal the details just yet, I had an enlightening experience recently that helped me realize that the solutions to problems often lie in the questions we ask ourselves. It's a lesson I keep learning: when faced with a roadblock, asking better questions and staying open-minded often leads to breakthroughs. So, remember that sometimes, the path to resolution might require questioning your assumptions and limitations.
Now, let's get back to our main topic: making challenging conversations with clients more manageable. We all encounter moments when discussions about rates, policies, scheduling, or other issues become uncomfortable. That's why I want to share three steps that will help you handle these conversations with ease.
Step 1: Focus on the Business, Not Yourself
When it comes to communicating changes or addressing concerns, it's crucial to make it about your business and not about yourself. This shift in perspective can make a significant difference in the way you approach these conversations. For instance, if you're raising your rates, frame it as a business decision: "Starting from September 1st, 2023, Ashley Young Music Studio will have updated rates." By depersonalizing the change, you project professionalism and confidence.
Similarly, when discussing scheduling or policy changes, make it about the studio's operations rather than your personal preferences. Clearly state your business hours and policies, which can minimize the emotional back-and-forth that often comes with these conversations. Remember, by presenting it as a business decision, you're setting clear expectations and making it easier for clients to understand and respect your boundaries.
Step 2: Avoid Over-Explaining
When addressing concerns or communicating changes, it's easy to fall into the trap of over-explaining. However, this can create unnecessary doubts and complications. Keep your communication concise and to the point. For instance, when raising rates, there's no need to provide an exhaustive list of justifications. A simple, direct statement is usually enough. Similarly, if you're declining a request for a lesson outside your normal hours, a straightforward "I'm sorry, but the studio is closed during those times" suffices.
Remember, your clients trust you as a professional. Over-explaining can unintentionally make you seem unsure of your decisions. By being clear, direct, and succinct, you convey confidence and authority in your actions.
Step 3: Be Clear, Direct, and Human
To foster smooth communication, make sure your messages are clear, direct, and easy to understand. Simplify your policies and expectations to minimize confusion. By providing crystal-clear instructions, you eliminate potential areas of confusion that can lead to ongoing conversations. Remember, the goal is to create a seamless experience for your clients.
Additionally, maintain a human touch in your communications. While being direct, ensure your messages still come across as friendly and approachable. Clients appreciate transparency and a personal touch. This will contribute to building trust and a stronger rapport with your clients.
In conclusion, mastering difficult conversations with clients is a skill that can significantly enhance your teaching practice. By making it about the business, avoiding over-explaining, and prioritizing clear, direct, and human communication, you can navigate challenging conversations with confidence and professionalism. Your ability to handle these situations will not only make your life easier but also contribute to a thriving and harmonious teaching studio.
I hope these three steps provide you with valuable insights for handling challenging conversations. If you found this information helpful, consider sharing this podcast with fellow piano teachers. Your support helps spread these practical strategies to others who might benefit. If you have a moment, leaving a review for the Prosperous Piano Teacher Podcast would mean the world to me, as it helps us reach more educators like you.

Mon, 21 Aug 2023 - 23min - 16 - 16. 2 Marketing Mistakes That Prevent Customers From Hiring You
Download your FREE copy of How to Level up Your Studio Policy in 3 Ways” here:
3 Ways to Level Up Your Studio Policy
Today, we're going to dive into two marketing mistakes that many piano teachers make, and I'll provide you with actionable tips to avoid them.
Mistake #1: Lack of a Compelling Hook or Headline
Picture this: you land on a website or social media post, and the first impression is underwhelming. No captivating headline, no engaging hook. You're left wondering who this person is and what they offer. This is a common mistake that can cost you potential students. Your hook or headline is the first thing people see, and it needs to grab their attention and convey essential information. Here's how to craft a compelling hook:
Define Your Audience: Clearly state who you serve – adults, kids, beginners, advanced players, or a specific niche.Highlight Your Unique Selling Proposition (USP): What sets you apart from other piano teachers? Do you have a special teaching method, philosophy, or approach that makes you stand out?Communicate the Benefits: Explain what students will gain by working with you. Is it improved technique, musicality, or confidence?Remember, your hook should be concise and impactful, drawing potential students in and making them want to learn more about you.
Mistake #2: Inconsistent or Absent Call to Actions (CTAs)
You've captured your audience's attention with a compelling headline. Now what?
Many teachers make the mistake of not providing clear next steps for potential students. CTAs guide your audience on what actions to take, whether it's inquiring about lessons, booking a trial, or getting more information. Inconsistency or lack of CTAs can confuse and frustrate potential students, causing them to lose interest.
Ensure your CTAs are:
Clear and Direct: Use concise language to guide your audience. "Book a Free Trial Lesson" or "Inquire About Lessons" are straightforward examples.Consistent: Use the same CTA across your website, social media posts, and other marketing materials for a seamless experience.Customer-Centric: Consider your audience's journey and make the next step easy and appealing for them. While it's crucial to have a primary CTA that aligns with your desired customer journey, you can mix in other CTAs that engage your audience differently, such as inviting comments or encouraging them to share their thoughts.
Putting It Into Practice: Crafting an Effective Hook and CTA
Let's take a closer look at how you can apply these principles to your piano teaching business. Imagine you're targeting adult learners who want to improve their musicality and technique:
Hook: Elevate Your Piano Skills with Expert Guidance for Adult Learners – Play Beautifully and Confidently Today!
CTA:Ready to take your piano playing to the next level? Book a Free Trial Lesson and experience the difference firsthand.
By addressing your target audience, highlighting your unique approach, and offering a clear next step, you create an enticing hook and a compelling CTA that encourages potential students to take action.
Avoiding these two common marketing mistakes can significantly enhance your ability to attract and retain piano students. Crafting a captivating hook and using consistent, customer-centric CTAs will help you create a compelling online presence that resonates with your audience.
Remember, effective marketing is not only about reaching potential students but also guiding them seamlessly toward becoming valued members of your teaching studio. As you implement these strategies, you'll likely see an increase in inquiries and engagement, setting you on the path to a more prosperous piano teaching journey.

3 Ways to Level Up Your Studio Policy
In this exciting episode, I am joined by Jaime from the Music Teachers Expand Online Podcast. We'll be diving into the topic of showing up and owning your unique brilliance in the online space from both mindset and tactical perspectives.
A Recap of the Guest Swap
Last Wednesday, the Prosperous Piano Teacher Podcast had an episode released on Jaime's podcast. Ashley was the guest, and they discussed the mindset of showing up in the online space and owning one's uniqueness. Today, they are switching roles, and Ashlee will be interviewing Jaime to learn more about how to show up and own it in the online space from a tactical standpoint.
Meet Jaime
Jaime Slutsky is a technology strategist and the host of the Music Teachers Expand Online Podcast. Armed with a computer science degree, she is passionate about helping music educators leverage technology to enhance their teaching and online presence. Jaime believes in making tech fun, intriguing, and approachable for everyone.
The Power of Specificity
One of the biggest struggles people face in the online space is not being specific enough. Trying to be a generalist can be challenging, as it is much easier to become known for one thing. Jaime encourages teachers to identify their unique brilliance and drill down further to stand out and have a consistent message. Being specific allows you to attract your ideal audience and establish a strong presence online.
Exercises to Find Your Specificity
To discover your uniqueness, Jaime suggests thinking about three to five of your favorite students from the past six to twelve months. Analyze what made these students stand out and why you enjoyed teaching them. Look for commonalities, such as age, personality, interests, or industries they work in. This exercise will help you understand your ideal audience better and align your content with their needs.
Consistency and Authenticity
Successful teachers in the online space exhibit resilience, consistency, warmth, and an inviting approach. Being authentic and giving generously to your audience builds trust and fosters a genuine community. Instead of solely focusing on vanity metrics like likes and followers, prioritize providing value and connecting with your audience.
Recommended Tools
For live music instruction, Jaime recommends Muzie. It provides a great platform for one-to-one or live music lessons. For creating courses, she suggests Thinkfic, an easy-to-use platform that hosts video content, sales pages, and checkouts. Additionally, for email marketing, ConvertKit is a valuable tool.
Final Advice
Jaime's final advice for music teachers looking to own their unique brilliance online is to get specific and test it out. Focus all your content on one specific thing for the next 30 days and see how your audience responds. Additionally, when choosing tools and technology, avoid bloating your systems and be mindful of what your current tools lack. Utilize free resources like Facebook groups and YouTube channels to gain insights and enhance your knowledge.
Embracing your unique brilliance and showing up authentically in the online space can lead to significant growth and success for music teachers. By being specific and leveraging the right tools, teachers can confidently navigate the online world and create a meaningful impact on their students and audiences alike. Remember, you've got this, and the technology is there to help you shine. So go ahead and own it in the online space!

3 Ways to Level Up Your Studio Policy
Embarking on the journey of exploring your money mindset can be both daunting and transformative. As you delve into the depths of your beliefs and attitudes towards money, you may find hidden barriers that have been holding you back from financial abundance. In this blog post, we will explore the power of money psychology and how limiting beliefs can affect your relationship with money. Additionally, we'll discuss practical steps to reframe your money mindset and create a more positive and empowering financial reality.
The Discovery: Unveiling Limiting Beliefs
At the beginning of your money mindset journey, you might encounter a range of beliefs that have shaped your perception of money. Common limiting beliefs include:
"I'm not good with money."
"Money is scarce."
"Money is evil."
"I am not worthy of money."
"If I make more money, it will change my relationships."
These beliefs, often formed in childhood or influenced by society, can significantly impact your financial decisions and success. Identifying these beliefs is the first step towards understanding your money mindset and how it affects your financial reality.
The Work on Mindset: Making Positive Changes
Transforming your money mindset is an ongoing process that requires self-awareness and intentional efforts. Here are four practical ways to start working on your money mindset:
Reflect on Your Money Story: Take time to journal about your past experiences with money, exploring how your parents or caregivers approached money, and the messages you received about it. Understand how these experiences might have influenced your current beliefs.
Visualize Your Future Desires: Imagine your ideal financial future without limitations. Journal about the life you want to live, the financial goals you aim to achieve, and the changes you'd like to make. Create a detailed picture of what financial abundance means to you.
Read Empowering Books: Seek out books that can help you reshape your money mindset positively. "You Are a Badass at Making Money" by Jen Sincero and "The Big Leap" by Gay Hendricks are excellent choices to gain insight into money empowerment and personal growth.
Embrace Affirmations: Incorporate affirmations into your daily routine to rewire your brain for positivity and abundance. Regularly repeat empowering statements about money to counter negative self-talk and foster a positive money mindset.
The journey of transforming your money mindset is a powerful and transformative experience. By confronting limiting beliefs, reflecting on your money story, and visualizing a future of financial abundance, you can create a more positive relationship with money. Remember, this process is ongoing, and it's okay to experience challenges along the way. The key is to approach it with curiosity, self-compassion, and a willingness to embrace change. As you continue to work on your money mindset, you'll discover newfound financial confidence and open the door to greater financial opportunities in your life.

Mon, 31 Jul 2023 - 37min - 13 - 13. Are you trading time for money or creating assets?
Download your FREE copy of How to Level up Your Studio Policy in 3 Ways” here:
3 Ways to Level Up Your Studio Policy
Today, we're going to delve into a thought-provoking topic: the difference between trading time for money and creating assets in your piano teaching business. I'll break down both concepts, share a real-life example of creating an asset, and explore the long-term benefits of adopting an asset-focused mindset.
The Pitfall of Trading Time for Money
Many piano teachers fall into the trap of associating their income solely with the hours they spend teaching lessons. This mindset revolves around the equation: "I teach for X hours and charge X amount per hour." While it may take different forms, such as charging by the hour, by the month, or even the year, the underlying concept remains the same - your time equals your money.
This approach is widespread in the music teaching industry, but it often leads to limitations in terms of income and flexibility. Teachers may find themselves creating a job for themselves rather than achieving the freedom and flexibility they initially sought as business owners.
The Power of Creating Assets
Shifting from a time-for-money mindset to an asset-focused perspective can be transformative for piano teachers. In this context, an asset refers to something that works for you and provides value to your business over the long term. It could be a well-crafted studio policy, a unique teaching philosophy, or, as we'll explore in more detail, intellectual property that benefits your students.
An Asset in Action: "Secrets to Sight Reading"
Let's take a look at a real-life example of creating an asset: a course called "Secrets to Sight Reading." The teacher, in this case, designed a six-week experience focused on helping students level up their sight-reading skills. Instead of simply charging for instructional time, the teacher structured the course as a valuable experience for the students. Participants received not only live classes but also 15-minute office hour sessions, access to an exclusive Facebook group, custom resources, and more.
On the customer's end, the value they received far exceeded the monetary exchange for a single hour of instruction. This asset-driven approach made the class more appealing, and students saw it as an opportunity to achieve their sight-reading goals effectively.
From a business owner's perspective, the asset mindset opened up multiple possibilities. The course could be converted into a digital course with ongoing sales potential or run as a live course multiple times, thanks to the already prepared materials and resources. The Evergreen content ensured the course's relevance for future students without having to recreate it from scratch.
Creating Assets: It's Within Your Reach
As a piano teacher, you are continually creating intellectual property in the form of lesson plans, customized resources, and unique teaching approaches for your students. Embracing the asset-focused mindset allows you to leverage these creations in multiple ways, leading to more income, greater freedom, and long-term success in your business.
By shifting your perspective from trading time for money to creating assets in your piano teaching business, you open up a world of possibilities. The "Secrets to Sight Reading" course example demonstrates how providing value and focusing on long-term benefits can elevate your business to new heights. So, don't wait any longer – start thinking like a business owner and unlock the potential within your reach!
If you're interested in taking your business to the next level, I'm here to help. Book a call with me, and let's embark on this transformative journey together.

3 Ways to Level Up Your Studio Policy
Today, we'll be discussing a topic that is near and dear to my heart—working smarter, not harder. This philosophy applies not only to piano players but also to all aspects of our lives. In this blog post, I'll share practical strategies to help you work smarter, save time and energy, and achieve greater success in your business. So let's dive in!
Organize for Efficiency
One of the most effective ways to work smarter is by implementing organizational systems. Staying organized can save you significant time and energy. For example, creating a Google folder with frequently asked questions (FAQs) allows you to easily copy and paste responses when communicating with potential or current clients. This not only saves time but also frees up mental bandwidth. Similarly, using Google Contacts to organize student information or setting up bookmarks on your desktop or Google Drive can ensure quick access to frequently used resources. By keeping your physical space organized and clean, you create an environment that reflects your business's professionalism and efficiency.
Streamline and Automate
Streamlining and automating processes can be a game-changer for your business. Start by automating billing and payment collection, which not only saves time but also frees up mental energy. Services like Fons or other billing platforms can simplify this aspect of your business. Additionally, consider using Google Forms to streamline client inquiries, collect information, and automatically generate spreadsheets for easy reference. As your business grows, you may explore paid apps and websites that offer more comprehensive automation solutions tailored to your specific needs.
Check-in with Your Energy
Regularly assess the tasks that drain your energy versus those that energize you. Conduct a monthly or weekly audit to identify areas that deplete your resources. For example, if repetitive administrative tasks exhaust you, find ways to delegate or automate them. Aligning your business with your energy levels and focusing on the activities that bring you joy and fulfillment will optimize your efficiency and overall well-being.
Working smarter, not harder, is a powerful approach to achieving success in your business while maintaining a balanced and fulfilling life. By implementing organizational systems, streamlining processes, and aligning with your energy levels, you can save valuable time and energy, allowing you to focus on what truly matters. Remember to periodically assess your strategies and make adjustments as needed. Working smarter is a continuous journey that leads to greater productivity, satisfaction, and growth in your business. So start implementing these strategies today and enjoy the benefits of a more efficient and thriving business.

3 Ways to Level Up Your Studio Policy
I am thrilled to be here with you today. It feels like it's been a while, even though I've been here every week. But for some reason, this week felt longer, and I'm really looking forward to recording today's episode. It's a topic that I'm super excited about. If you would have asked me three years ago, or even one year ago, if I would be recording a podcast episode on this topic or if I would be excited about it, I would have said never in a million years.
Today, we are going to be talking about three of the best content hacks that make creation easy. I'm going to give you these three hacks, and then I'll also provide you with an exercise to put them into practice. But before we dive in, I just want to give you a little disclaimer. I have a preschooler at home for the summer, and if you hear background noise, that's what's going on. I've done my best to minimize it, but there's still a chance you'll hear some noise. Just know that it's the sound of an energetic and excited almost four-year-old playing with her babysitter.
Now, let's talk about content. Honestly, the word used to make me cringe a little bit. I used to have negative associations with content creation. It felt salesy and icky to me. But that's not the case anymore. I create content all the time, and I love the process. It surprises me how much I enjoy creating content, given that I used to hate writing and thought it would feel salesy or gross. Now, I see it as a creative process that fulfills the artist in me. It's a way for me to express myself and do something unique.
When I started my YouTube channel in the summer of 2021, I had no idea how important content creation would become for my business. I simply set a goal to put content out there, even without a full vision or strategy. My stubbornness and drive to stick to my goal allowed me to learn a lot about content creation. Later, I realized how it could help my business and grow my audience. I also realized that content creation doesn't have to be icky or salesy.
Now, let's dive into the three content hacks. The first hack is to know the five types of content, also known as the five E's. These types are education, empowerment, entertainment, eliciting, and engagement. Each type serves a different purpose. For example, educational content teaches something, empowering content motivates and inspires, entertaining content provides enjoyment, eliciting content evokes emotions, and engaging content encourages interaction.
Understanding these categories helps you view content in a different way. It allows you to be intentional and consider the impact you want to have. Start categorizing the content you consume and think about the different types. If you're already creating content, categorize it too. Reflect on what types of content you usually create and challenge yourself to explore the categories you haven't used much. This will expand your creativity and give you a fresh perspective.
The second hack is to recycle content you already have. Even if you don't think of yourself as a content creator, you have content. It could be your teaching philosophy, studio policy, emails, website, or other assets. Look at what you already have and ask yourself deeper questions about why certain things are included. This will spark new content ideas. For example, if you have a studio policy that emphasizes consistent practice, explore why it's important and create content around that topic. Recycling and repurposing your existing content is a great way to start.
The third hack is to try out different formats. Depending on the platform you use, such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook, there are various formats available. Experiment with different formats to challenge yourself and expand your content creation skills. For example, if you usually create Instagram reels, try static posts, carousels, or stories. The more you try different formats, the better you'll become at creating content.
Now, let's move on to the exercise I want to share with you. This exercise will help you practice these hacks and improve your content creation skills. Start by choosing a topic and a format. For example, you could choose the topic of the importance of consistency in piano practice and the format of Instagram reels. Once you have your topic and format, challenge yourself to create five different types of content within that category. You could create educational reels, empowering reels, entertaining reels, eliciting reels, and engaging reels, all centered around the same topic.
You can also mix it up by choosing one type of content and exploring different formats. For example, you could create educational content in the form of reels, carousels, stories, static posts, and emails, all emphasizing the importance of consistency. This exercise will stretch your creativity and allow you to practice creating content in various ways.
Consistency is key when practicing these hacks and exercises. Set a goal for yourself, whether it's a week or a month, and commit to creating content consistently during that period. The more you practice, the better you'll become. I've personally seen tremendous growth in my own content creation skills by consistently creating content over time. It's a skill that can be developed, and you'll be amazed at the progress you can make.
Remember, your messaging and marketing are essential aspects of content creation. The content you put out into the world reflects your brand and attracts the right kind of people to your business. Think about your messaging and ensure that it aligns with the students and clients you want to attract. Putting thought into your content and its impact will help you grow your business in the way you desire.
If you need further guidance in content creation, I offer private one-on-one coaching where I help teachers level up their business assets, marketing, and messaging to attract new customers and scale their business. Visit here for more information.
Lastly, if you're enjoying these episodes, please consider giving a rating and review, and share it with others who might benefit from it. Your support will help reach more teachers and provide them with valuable content.
I hope you have an amazing week in your business, and remember that consistency is key. Keep practicing and pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone. With time and effort, you'll become a confident and skilled content creator.

Mon, 10 Jul 2023 - 27min - 10 - 10. 3 Powerful Marketing Tips to Get More Customers
Download your FREE copy of How to Level up Your Studio Policy in 3 Ways” here:
3 Ways to Level Up Your Studio Policy
In this episode, we will explore three powerful marketing tips that can help you attract more customers to your piano teaching business. Marketing can often feel overwhelming, but with the right strategies, it can become an authentic and effective way to share your unique brilliance with the world.
Tip 1: Know Your Audience
One of the most crucial aspects of marketing is understanding who you are speaking to. Take the time to identify your target audience and create messaging that resonates with them. Whether you're reaching out through YouTube, social media, your website, or even local flyers, tailor your content to appeal directly to your ideal customers. By knowing your audience, you can speak their language and address their specific needs and desires.
Tip 2: Speak Directly to Your Ideal Customers
Don't be afraid to be polarizing in your marketing efforts. When you have a clear understanding of who your ideal customers are, speak directly to them and don't shy away from expressing your unique perspectives and beliefs. By being authentic and expressing your true voice, you will attract the right customers who resonate with your message. Remember, it's better to repel some people and connect deeply with others than to have a broad, generic message that doesn't resonate with anyone.
Tip 3: Share Your Unique Brilliance
Marketing is not just about sales; it's about sharing your unique brilliance with the world. Focus on providing value and helping others through your content and interactions. Instead of a hard sell, aim to make genuine connections and build a community around your passion for music and teaching. By consistently showing up as your authentic self and sharing your knowledge, you will naturally attract customers who are genuinely interested in what you have to offer.
Overcoming the mental blocks associated with marketing is crucial for piano teachers who want to grow their businesses. By redefining marketing as a way to share your unique brilliance and connect with others, you can develop effective strategies to attract more customers. Remember to know your audience, speak directly to your ideal customers, and share your authentic self. By implementing these three powerful marketing tips, you'll be well on your way to expanding your reach and building a thriving piano teaching business.

Mon, 03 Jul 2023 - 26min - 9 - 9. The Ultimate Game-Changing Hack to Crush Every Goal
Download your FREE copy of How to Level up Your Studio Policy in 3 Ways” here:
3 Ways to Level Up Your Studio Policy
In today's episode, I want to share a game-changing hack that I've been using to crush my goals. This hack has been instrumental in my business and personal life, helping me make decisions and stay focused on my end goals. I'll provide step-by-step guidance on implementing this hack, along with examples from my own journey. So, let's dive in!
Setting Clear Goals
To begin, it's crucial to have a clear understanding of your end goals. Dream big and don't let limiting beliefs hold you back. Take some time to journal about your goals, envisioning what your life will look like once you achieve them. Remember, being an entrepreneur comes with its ups and downs, and keeping your goals front and center helps you stay grounded and motivated.
Keeping the End Goal in Mind
The game-changing hack I want to share is simple but often overlooked. It involves keeping your end goal in mind whenever you need to make a decision. Many people get sidetracked by micro-decisions along the way, losing sight of their ultimate destination. By consistently referencing your end goal, you can make decisions that align with your vision.
Implementing the Hack
To implement this hack effectively, create visual reminders of your goals. Use a vision board, post notes or pictures in your workspace, or keep them on your phone or fridge. By having these reminders in your daily routine, you ensure your goals are always fresh in your mind.
Making Decisions in Alignment with Your Goals
Let's look at an example from my own journey. I wanted to transition away from teaching one-on-one piano lessons to have more time and energy for other aspects of my business. Rather than waiting for a perfect replacement income stream, I set a deadline for myself and started making monthly decisions to gradually reduce my teaching load. This approach made the transition more manageable and less overwhelming.
Overcoming Decision Fatigue
Decision fatigue is a real issue for many entrepreneurs. We often stress over every choice, fearing we'll make the wrong one. By keeping our end goals in mind, decisions become clearer and easier. Trusting ourselves and using our goals as a final checkpoint ensures we stay on track.
Celebrating Success
Using this hack, I successfully transitioned my piano teaching business and replaced my income while still honoring my passion for teaching. Along the way, I had to let go of limiting beliefs and embrace the fear of change. It wasn't always easy, but keeping my end goal in mind helped me overcome challenges and achieve my desired outcome.
In conclusion, the game-changing hack of keeping your end goal in mind can significantly impact your ability to crush goals. By staying focused on the big picture, you make decisions that align with your vision, overcome decision fatigue, and ultimately reach your goals.
Remember, it's essential to set clear goals, keep them front and center, and celebrate your successes along the way. Implement this hack into your life and watch as it transforms your ability to achieve what you've set out to accomplish.
I hope you found this game-changing hack helpful and that it empowers you to take the next step toward your dreams. Remember, you have the potential to create the life and business you desire. Stay inspired and motivated on your journey to success!

Let’s explore the connection between piano playing skills and growing a business. As a piano player and teacher, you already possess valuable skills that can be applied to your entrepreneurial journey.
We'll discuss three key skills and share examples from my own experiences.
The Skill of Consistency
Consistency is crucial in both piano playing and business growth. As a piano player, you understand the importance of showing up every day and practicing consistently. Similarly, in business, showing up consistently is vital for achieving your goals. I'll share a personal example from my Instagram journey, where consistent posting led to growth and valuable lessons.
The Skill of Learning a Piece
Learning a piece on the piano involves setting goals, breaking them down into smaller milestones, and working towards them. This process applies to growing your business as well. By setting big goals and breaking them into smaller, achievable targets, you can make progress steadily. I'll discuss how I shifted from spontaneous business ideas to planning and strategizing, leading to greater clarity and success.
The Skill of Adaptation
As a piano player, you know that sometimes a piece requires adjustments and adaptations along the way. The same holds true for your business. While planning is essential, being open to changes and course corrections is equally important. I'll share insights into how being flexible and adaptable has helped me navigate challenges and improve my entrepreneurial journey.

Mon, 19 Jun 2023 - 22min - 7 - 7. 3 of The Biggest Lessons Learned from A Piano School Owner with Amie Webster of Motif Music Studio
Download your FREE copy of How to Level up Your Studio Policy in 3 Ways” here:
3 Ways to Level Up Your Studio Policy
Amie Webster, the owner of Motif Music Studios has an incredible story to share with us about her musical journey and her experiences as a piano teacher.
Before we dive into Amie's story, I must mention that Amie and I share an interesting connection. Though we haven't met in person until now, we connected through our YouTube channels and content creation. It's amazing how online platforms can bring people together, making it feel like we're old friends.
Amie's Musical Story
Amie's journey into teaching music took an unconventional path. As a teenager, she had the privilege of studying with a vibrant music educator in her community who taught music to young children and had several private students, including Amie. One day, this teacher approached Amie with a unique proposition. She needed a vacation and asked Amie if she would be willing to take care of her home and teach her 85 students while she was away. Yes, you read that right—85 students!
A Dive into Teaching
Without hesitation, Amie accepted the challenge and found herself fully immersed in teaching. Keep in mind that she was just a teenager at the time, studying at the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) at grade 7 or 8 level. Initially, Amie felt a mix of excitement and overwhelm. The sheer number of students and teaching group piano classes that included parents was no small feat. But what made it truly special was the support she received from both the parents and her teacher. Their faith in her abilities motivated Amie to grow as a teacher and provided a solid foundation for her future endeavors.
The Importance of Mentorship
Amie emphasizes the significance of having great mentors in her journey. Her teacher, despite being in desperate need of a holiday, believed in Amie's potential and entrusted her with the responsibility. This experience taught Amie that people want to support and cheer on passionate and caring teachers. It fueled her desire to keep growing and improving as an educator.
Continuing the Learning Journey
Taking over those 85 students for a short period was just the beginning. Amie's thirst for knowledge led her to pursue further training in music education for children and continue her RCM studies. She understood that being an exceptional teacher required a commitment to lifelong learning. Amie firmly believes that the best instructors are always open to learning new things, constantly enriching their own knowledge base, and passing it on to their students.
Exploring the Business Side
Although Amie's takeover of those 85 students was a relatively short stint, she gained some insights into the business side of teaching. Her teacher, who was a true professional, had a solid grasp of teaching as a business. She emphasized setting clear policies, managing expectations, and maintaining professionalism. Witnessing her teacher's approach gave Amie valuable lessons and ideas to consider when she eventually started her own studio.
Setting Up a Studio
When the time came for Amie to establish her own music studio, she drew from the experiences and principles she had learned along the way. She knew the importance of setting things up correctly from the start, though she admits there were still plenty of stories and lessons to be learned along the journey.
Lessons Learned from Building a Community Music Education Hub
Lesson 1: Hear the Real Issues
One of the key lessons Amie learned was the importance of listening and understanding the underlying concerns and questions of both staff and students. By taking the time to truly hear people, she discovered that behind confrontational or frazzled responses, there were often deeper issues at play. This insight allowed her to respond with grace, while still upholding policies and addressing concerns. This lesson reminds us that nurturing a team requires genuine empathy and effective communication.
Lesson 2: Establish and Maintain Policies
To create a successful community music education hub, it is essential to have clear policies in place. These policies provide structure, ensure accountability, and set expectations for teachers, students, and parents. By implementing strong policies from the beginning, Amie was able to create a respectful and reliable environment for her students. This lesson emphasizes the importance of establishing policies that support the growth and success of both the business and the individuals involved.
Lesson 3: Embrace Continuous Growth
As a music educator, it is crucial to acknowledge that the learning journey never ends. Amie initially experienced imposter syndrome, feeling behind and anxious about her own musical abilities. However, over time, she learned to embrace the fact that continuous growth is a beautiful aspect of the industry. This mindset allowed her to stay fresh, relatable, and open to furthering her own credentials. It also enabled her to inspire and encourage her students, fostering a culture of lifelong learning within her community.
Lesson 4: Embracing Imperfection and Stepping into the Spotlight
The creative process is not always smooth sailing, especially when creating content regularly. Amie highlighted how being comfortable with imperfection in front of an audience was a crucial lesson learned. This realization allowed them to let go of the fear of judgment and focus on the joy of creating. By embracing imperfection, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and growth.
Lesson 5: Jumping In and Figuring It Out
Another aspect we explored was the power of taking action and figuring things out along the way. Amie shared her experience of having a great idea and then facing the challenge of implementing it. Often, we find ourselves in similar situations, filled with enthusiasm but lacking technical know-how. However, the willingness to jump in and learn as we go can propel us forward. It's about finding a balance between taking action and acquiring the necessary skills along the journey.
Highlighting Composers and Fostering Musical Appreciation
Amie has a unique approach to teaching music by bringing composers directly into the studio. Through her YouTube channel, "Motif Music Studios," she organize live streams called "Coffee with Composers." This initiative allows students to experience a live conversation with composers, gaining insights into their creative process. By highlighting composers' works and fostering a deeper connection between students and the music they learn, our guest brings a fresh perspective to music education.
The Ripple Effect of Supporting Fellow Creatives
One recurring theme throughout our conversation was the importance of supporting fellow creatives. Amie emphasized the ripple effect created by this support. As piano teachers, we discovered that supporting other creatives broadened their own musical horizons and deepened their appreciation for the creative process. By supporting others, we contribute to the growth and vitality of the creative industry as a whole.
Conclusion
It's essential to find joy in what we do and be comfortable with the learning process. Stepping outside our comfort zones allows us to discover new possibilities and grow both personally and creatively. So let's take the leap, learn along the way, and foster a community of support for creatives everywhere.
To watch "Coffee with Composers" or get in touch with Amie, visit their YouTube channel, Motif Music Studios, where they regularly live stream on Fridays. You can also reach out to them via email at motifmusicstudios@gmail.com or connect on Instagram at Motif Music Studios.

Mon, 12 Jun 2023 - 45min - 6 - 6. The toxic ‘norms’ about how much you charge
Download your FREE copy of How to Level up Your Studio Policy in 3 Ways” here:
3 Ways to Level Up Your Studio Policy
In today's episode, we're going to delve into the toxic norms surrounding how much you charge for your piano teaching services. This is a topic that many struggle with when setting rates or considering raising them. So, let's jump right in!
One of the toxic norms I frequently encounter is the belief that musicians should be motivated solely by their love for the instrument. I've had teachers and even potential customers express this sentiment to me. While it's true that most of us are driven by our passion for music, the implication that musicians shouldn't be paid well because they love what they do is toxic. This belief undermines the value of our services and can lead to burnout and dissatisfaction.
We often come across subtle or even blatant forms of this toxic belief in society. People may question how musicians make money or assume they shouldn't be compensated fairly. However, we don't have to accept this belief. It's possible to be motivated by our love for the instrument while also demanding fair compensation. We can provide exceptional value to our students and their families without undervaluing ourselves.
The second toxic norm revolves around the idea that music lessons should be accessible to everyone. While it's a noble goal, using this as a justification for undercharging is not sound logic. Let me paint two pictures to illustrate this point. In the first scenario, a teacher who charges below market value works long hours to maintain a full studio and ends up feeling exhausted and overextended. In the second scenario, a teacher who charges above average teaches fewer hours and has more time and energy to provide high-quality instruction. This teacher can also offer a few scholarship spots for those who can't afford regular lessons.
By prioritizing fair compensation, you can create a sustainable business model that allows you to have a lasting impact. Undervaluing your services doesn't serve anyone in the long run. Instead, find a balance that allows you to meet your financial needs while still making music lessons accessible through scholarship opportunities.
Lastly, the belief that money isn't an important part of the business is a toxic norm that affects many piano teachers. Even if you don't consciously think this way, your subconscious beliefs about money can impact your financial reality. It's crucial to actively work on your relationship with money and understand its role in your business. Prioritize tracking your finances, create profit and loss statements, and actively engage with your money.
By recognizing the importance of money in your business, you can gain control over your finances and make informed decisions. Working on your relationship with money will help you break free from limiting beliefs and create a prosperous business that aligns with your values.
In conclusion, it's essential to challenge the toxic norms surrounding how much you charge for your piano teaching services. By understanding your worth and valuing your time and expertise, you can create a sustainable and fulfilling career. Remember, you deserve fair compensation for the value you provide. So, let go of these toxic beliefs and pave the way for a prosperous future as a piano teacher.
I hope you found this discussion enlightening and empowering. Stay tuned for more episodes where we'll explore various topics to help you thrive in your piano teaching journey.

3 Ways to Level Up Your Studio Policy
As the seasons change and bring a sense of renewed energy, I want to dive into a topic that holds many of us back from reaching our true potential. Today, I'll share a personal story that led me to question my self-imposed limitations as a piano teacher. I'll discuss the power of challenging our beliefs and provide five practical steps to help you overcome self-limiting thoughts. So, whether you're a teacher or simply someone looking to break free from self-imposed barriers, this podcast is for you.
Listening to Your Inner Desires:
In this fast-paced world, we often neglect our deepest desires and dreams. Admitting what we truly want can be daunting, especially when it goes against societal expectations. However, it's crucial to take the time to listen to your inner voice and fully embrace your aspirations. In my journey, I realized that I didn't want to teach piano solely in the after-school hours, even though it seemed like the norm. I wanted more flexibility and quality time with my future family. Recognizing and accepting these desires was the first step toward change.
Questioning Your Limiting Beliefs:
We tend to create self-limiting beliefs to rationalize our current circumstances. Whether it's about income, career choices, or personal goals, we convince ourselves that certain things are impossible. I, too, believed that I had to sacrifice my desired schedule to pursue my career as a pianist. However, I started questioning the validity of this belief. Is it true that I must work during after-school hours? This simple question opened up a world of possibilities and challenged the assumption I had made years ago.
Exploring the Possibilities:
Once you begin questioning your beliefs, the next step is to explore the possibilities. Don't worry if you don't have all the answers right away. Just give yourself the freedom to consider alternative paths. For me, this meant contemplating ways to maintain my career while avoiding after-school teaching. This process allowed my mind to expand and consider options I hadn't previously thought possible. It was during this exploration that I stumbled upon the idea of starting a YouTube channel.
Embracing Open-Mindedness:
As humans, we crave certainty and often rush to find solutions that fit our existing beliefs. However, embracing open-mindedness is key to breaking free from self-imposed limitations. By challenging our assumptions, we create space for new ideas and opportunities to emerge. Consider your current income as an example. Do you believe you're locked into your current earning potential? Questioning this belief opens the door to creative solutions and the possibility of increasing your income.
Taking Action and Trying New Ideas:
Finally, once you've questioned your beliefs and embraced open-mindedness, it's time to take action. Don't be afraid to try new ideas and experiment with different approaches. This is where you bring your desires and possibilities together. It might involve implementing changes gradually, like raising your rates, exploring alternative teaching hours, or even venturing into new avenues like online teaching or content creation. By taking action, you're actively shaping your future and breaking free from self-imposed limitations.
Conclusion:
As piano teachers or individuals pursuing their dreams, it's essential to confront the beliefs that hold us back. By listening to our inner desires, questioning self-imposed limitations, exploring possibilities, embracing open-mindedness, and taking action, we can create a path that aligns with our true aspirations. Remember, change is not always easy, but it's necessary for growth and fulfillment. So, let go of the beliefs that no longer serve you

Ensure a Healthy Current Business:
Before focusing on growth, it's crucial to evaluate the health of your existing business. Ashley emphasizes the importance of having strong business assets, such as a well-defined teaching philosophy and a comprehensive studio policy. These assets not only save time by providing ready-made answers to common questions but also serve as valuable resources for content creation and customer communication.
Check in with Your Energy:
When setting goals for business growth, it's essential to understand your underlying motivations. Ashley encourages entrepreneurs to examine their energy levels and intentions. Aligning your goals with your true energy and passion ensures a sustainable path to growth.
Streamline Your Operations:
Streamlining processes and adopting efficient systems can greatly enhance productivity. Ashley shares personal examples, such as summarizing YouTube video descriptions using AI technology and leveraging billing platforms like Fons. By optimizing how you communicate with students, collect payments, and manage administrative tasks, you can save valuable time and redirect your energy towards more creative and impactful endeavors.
Be Consistent:
Consistency is the key to long-term success. Ashley emphasizes that remaining steadfast in your efforts, even during challenging times or when results seem discouraging, is critical. Whether it's growing your online presence, building a YouTube channel, or expanding your studio, consistent action and perseverance pave the way for progress. Trust the process and keep pushing forward.
Continuously Learn and Adapt:
As you strive for business growth, be open to learning and adapting your strategies. Ashley shares her own experience of embracing feedback, experimenting with different approaches, and being willing to make necessary changes. Recognize that growth is an ongoing journey that requires flexibility and a willingness to evolve. By staying curious, seeking knowledge, and refining your methods, you position yourself for long-term success.
Optimizing business growth is a multifaceted endeavor that involves assessing your current business, aligning with your energy, streamlining operations, maintaining consistency, and embracing a growth mindset. By implementing these five strategies, you'll be on a path towards sustainable growth and increased success. Remember, it's not just about the end result but also the process and the continuous improvement along the way. So, commit to these practices and watch your business flourish!

Welcome to another exciting episode of "The Prosperous Piano Teacher"! I'm Ashley, your host, and today we're diving deep into the topic of studio policies. Studio policies play a crucial role in how we run our piano teaching businesses. In this episode, I'll share my passion for this topic, the importance of a well-defined studio policy, common issues teachers face, and three tips to unleash the true power of your studio policy.
Setting Expectations from the Start:
Your studio policy serves as the foundation for how people interact with your business. It sets the tone for the entire student-teacher relationship. When you provide your clients with a copy of your studio policy early on, you demonstrate your professionalism, seriousness, and commitment to your craft. It is one of the first things your clients see and helps them understand how you operate your business.
The Power of a Well-Designed Studio Policy:
Your studio policy can either save you time and enhance your income or create unnecessary headaches. How you handle and communicate your policy is crucial. A well-crafted policy can prevent repeated conversations and misunderstandings. On the other hand, a vague or poorly communicated policy leads to frustration and frequent disputes. Your studio policy can be a powerful tool to streamline your business operations.
Common Issues with Studio Policies:
Several common issues arise when it comes to studio policies. The first is not having a policy at all. Creating a studio policy is a must for every piano teacher. Another common issue is neglecting to revisit and revise the policy periodically. Your studio policy should be a living document that adapts to changes in your teaching practice. Finally, not ensuring that parents read and understand the policy can lead to miscommunications and conflicts down the line.
Tips to Unleash the Power of Your Studio Policy:
- Treat your studio policy as a business asset: By viewing your policy as a separate entity from yourself, you can de-personalize difficult conversations. Instead of feeling pressured to accommodate every request, refer back to your policy as a reflection of your business's guidelines and principles.Be clear and concise: While it's essential to include all necessary information, avoid over-explaining or justifying your policies. Strive for clarity and conciseness to ensure parents understand your expectations without confusion. Stick to the key points without unnecessary elaboration.Be strict: Implementing strict policies can be uncomfortable, but it helps maintain professionalism and consistent standards. For example, a no-makeup-lessons policy demonstrates your commitment to maintaining a structured schedule. While some may be resistant to strict policies, they ultimately benefit both you and your students by fostering professionalism and a well-organized learning environment.
Your studio policy is a powerful tool that shapes the way you run your piano teaching business. By setting clear expectations, revisiting and revising your policy periodically, and ensuring parents read and understand it, you can avoid misunderstandings, save time, and create a professional learning environment. Embrace the power of your studio policy, and watch your business thrive!

Download your FREE copy of How to Level up Your Studio Policy in 3 Ways” here: https://www.ashleejyoung.com/Levelup
Welcome to another episode of the Prosperous Piano Teacher podcast! In today's episode, we will explore the importance of teaching philosophies and how they can drive your business success. As a piano teacher, your teaching philosophy defines who you are as a musician, sets you apart from others, and shapes your unique approach to teaching. Let's dive into the five ways your teaching philosophy can drive your success in the piano teaching business.
- Differentiation: Explaining What Sets You ApartYour teaching philosophy is a powerful tool for showcasing what makes you different from other piano teachers. By clearly articulating your beliefs and values in your teaching philosophy, potential students can understand your unique approach to teaching. Whether it's emphasizing joy, positivity, individualized learning, or specific teaching methods, your teaching philosophy helps potential students recognize the distinctiveness of your studio.Personal Connection: Revealing Your IdentityIncorporating your personal beliefs into your teaching philosophy allows students to connect with you on a deeper level. Sharing your conviction that anyone can learn to play the piano and emphasizing a positive and enjoyable learning experience reveals your passion as a musician and teacher. By conveying who you are as a person, students can establish a personal connection with you, fostering a more meaningful and fulfilling learning journey.Methodology: Providing a Sneak Peek into Your StudioYour teaching philosophy gives students a glimpse into how you conduct your lessons and what teaching methods you employ. It clarifies whether you follow a specific curriculum, focus on particular musical genres, or employ innovative techniques. Sharing your teaching materials, tools, and methodologies helps potential students envision themselves learning with you, giving them confidence in your ability to guide them towards their musical goals.Unique Pathway: Outlining Your MethodologyBy delving into the details of your teaching philosophy, you can outline your unique pathway for students. Whether it's a step-by-step process, a particular focus on certain skills, or a combination of different approaches, your methodology sets you apart. For example, you may divide your program into categories such as "head work," "hand work," and "hard work," each addressing specific aspects of musical development. This unique pathway becomes your teaching methodology, showcasing your expertise and providing a structured framework for students to follow.Creating an Asset: Streamlining Your Business OperationsAs you refine your teaching philosophy and methodologies, you create a valuable asset for your business. Documenting your teaching approach, answering frequently asked questions, and developing a comprehensive guide to your methodology saves time and energy. This asset becomes a valuable resource for quickly responding to inquiries, creating content for social media platforms, and streamlining your business operations. It enables you to focus on what you do best—teaching—while maintaining consistency and efficiency in your communication and content creation.
Your teaching philosophy plays a significant role in driving your business success as a piano teacher. It sets you apart, establishes a personal connection with students, offers a sneak peek into your teaching approach, outlines your unique methodology, and becomes an asset that streamlines your business operations. Take the time to develop and refine your teaching philosophy, ensuring it reflects your values, beliefs, and expertise. By doing so, you can attract the right students, create a fulfilling learning environment, and ultimately achieve prosperity in your piano teaching journey.

Welcome to the very first episode of the Prosperous Piano Teacher Podcast! I am thrilled to be here with you today, as this podcast has been a dream of mine for many years. Finally, turning it into a reality is incredibly exciting and marks a significant celebration for me. I'm grateful that you're joining me on this journey, and I can't wait to connect with you and have meaningful conversations. In this inaugural episode, I want to share my story, the lessons I've learned, and my vision for success.
The Meaning of Success:
The word "successful" carries weight and different definitions for each person. For me, success is not about perfection or reaching a final destination; it's a continuous journey. I view success as a celebration of the lessons I've learned, the goals I've accomplished, and the growth I continue to experience. It's about helping others by sharing my mistakes, wins, and the knowledge gained along my own path. Throughout this podcast, I'll be sharing lessons learned, tips, and tricks, with a focus on streamlining and scaling processes for piano teachers, all while emphasizing the importance of working smarter, not harder.
Applying Success Principles to Teaching:
Prior to starting this podcast, I had been helping adult piano players learn to practice smarter, not harder through my online programs and content. Now, I'm excited to apply the same principles to your teaching business. As a motto in my life and business, working smarter, not harder has guided me towards achieving fulfillment and inspiring others. This podcast will feature my insights, lessons learned, and strategies for streamlining and scaling your teaching studio.
Three Pivotal Points in My Journey:
Throughout my career, three pivotal moments stand out that have shaped my teaching and business. The first occurred when I started college and met my influential studio teacher, Dorothea Cromley. She not only taught me invaluable musical skills but also encouraged me to start my own studio. With her support, I developed a strong foundation in business practices, learned to communicate with parents effectively, and refined my studio policies.
The second turning point arose during my time in graduate school when exhaustion from juggling teaching, driving to students' homes, and personal musical aspirations led me to quit music temporarily. This period of self-reflection helped me realize the deep connection I had with music and its importance in my life.
Rediscovering Music's Joy:
After taking a year off to teach English in Korea, I recognized how much I missed playing the piano and expressing myself musically. This experience reinforced my dedication to music and compelled me to make changes upon returning to the United States. Opening my studio in Portland, Oregon, and focusing on maintaining my energy and passion became paramount.
Conclusion:
Success is an ongoing journey, and I'm excited to share my experiences, wisdom, and enthusiasm for teaching on this podcast. Through conversations, tips, and lessons learned, I hope to inspire and support fellow piano teachers in their own journeys. Join me as we celebrate accomplishments, embrace growth, and work towards the fulfillment of our goals. Remember, success is not a destination—it's a continuous, exciting adventure.
Thank you for being here, and I look forward to our ongoing conversations. Stay tuned for more episodes of the Prosperous Piano Teacher Podcast!
