- 16 - Supporting Yourself Through Stress
Stress is our body's reaction to a challenge or demand. In short bursts, stress can be positive, such as when it helps us avoid danger or meet a deadline. But when stress lasts for a long time, it may harm our health.
We all experience stress on a regular basis. Often times our option to relieve that stress is exercise. However, stress-relief doesn't just come from exercise. The answer for managing our stress might be in our diet.
Our guest today is a good friend of mine, Claire Kutil. Claire is also a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner who supports women with balancing their hormones, increasing their energy and discover true health with a bio-individually appropriate plan that meets them where they are and guide them on the journey to being restored and revitalized.
In this episode, Claire shares with us how diet is often overlooked as part of the stress-fighting picture but eating a healthy diet can reduce the negative effects of stress on our bodies. Tune in to learn more.

Tue, 30 Nov 2021 - 15 - Taking A Break From Drinking with Rachel Coll
Hey Thrivers! You are in for another treat this week.
I am chatting with my friend, peer and colleague, Rachel Coll about her experience with sobriety. This is extremely valuable because as we start to approach the holidays and social engagements we must consider what we indulge in and why.
You are going to hear us discuss how we often use alcohol or even sweets to feel temporary relive from an uncomfortable emotion. During COVID, Rachel completed nine months of sorority and she found that dealing with uncomfortable situation while sober wasn’t any harder than when she drank. She notice that alcohol only postponed the discomfort but never got rid of it and whatever discomfort she felt she escape from in the moment that she made the decision to drink or over drink would just come back tenfold the next day in the form of a hangover.
Once alcohol was no longer a buffer she had to face her uncomfortable emotions and process them. What she found is that she had tolerated so much when she was putting alcohol her body and without the alcohol she saw that she had options. She could choose to be uncomfortable or exit a situation that makes her uncomfortable. Drinking to tolerate anything doe snot have to be your only option, you can choose to leave a situation, a party, a job, a relationship that makes you uncomfortable. You get to choose.
This is another juicy conversation that you dont want to miss. Press play to join in now.

Tue, 16 Nov 2021 - 13 - Wheel of Wellness
I have been seeing this trend in the health, wellness, and fitness industry for many years. That trend is a single focus on diet and exercise. Mental health is definitely an up-and-coming player but it's not fully embedded in the health and wellness space as yet. And it really deserves a seat at the table because how we think about things is how we experience and perceive the world around us. Our reality is our thoughts about our reality.
As you know I coach on mindset so I am a bit biased about its importance but honestly all of the parts that make up our well-being are important. When we look at the Wheel of Wellness which is comprised of four quadrants, your mindset, resources, physiology, safety, and security it’s obvious that they all impact one another. This goes to show that your health is more than just a diet or exercise routine, it’s about a holistic approach to well-being.
Listen in as we discuss the four quadrants of the Wheel of Wellness, their importance, how it shows up in your life and how you can evaluate your overall well-being from this Wheel of Wellness approach.

Tue, 09 Nov 2021 - 12 - Money Mindset with Natasha Tekeste
Money has been a taboo topic although it’s an essential component of our existence. Being able to sustain ourselves is integral for our self-care and self-worth. This is especially important for women.
It’s no secret that women are paid 23% less than men are paid globally. This external fight for financial equality is difficult and in addition to that, there can also be an internal struggle. The internal struggle can reflect our experience of self-worth, how we value ourselves, whether we experience ourselves as deserving of more or of less. These feelings contribute to the tone, intensity, and confidence in our voices. This is important because your money mindset is supported by your confidence and it is necessary to have a positive mindset and strong confidence as you engage in conversations around money.
Our guest today is Natasha Tekeste. She is a money mindset coach who coaches people socialized as women and women who want to earn more money at work. So they're employees, and they want to either apply for a promotion or ask for a raise. And then I coached women who are running their own businesses and want to make more money in their business. In both situations, you're asking for money, either through your offer or through an authority figure and so you want to be prepared to engage in these conversations.
Natasha believes that one of the reasons mindset work is so important is because when you’re able to shift how you think about yourself – you’re able to shift your entire contribution to the world. That’s why in this episode she will share with us three crucial steps to integrate your money mindset, self-worth, and voice to help you achieve your goals.

Tue, 02 Nov 2021 - 11 - Feeling Valued at Work with Serena Johnson
What does it mean to feel valued at work? Well, when someone recognizes that our personal qualities or something we’ve done have helped the organization, we feel valued. Someone could recognize our work ethic or positive attitude, for example, or simply say thank you for a report we’ve completed that was particularly high-quality. Feeling valued at work leads to better physical and mental health, as well as higher levels of engagement, satisfaction, and motivation. All the things that lead to a healthy and productive relationship between employer and employee. Here is the thing, thriving off of external validation from managers and peers will keep your value tank full for so long. The real magic is learning to develop a personal practice of self-validation.
Our guest today, Serena Johnson, founder of Get Me Out of This Job, a Career Clarity Coach helps professionals find fulfillment, happiness, clarity, and ultimately feel good about their careers by redefining success for themselves and living the life they want to live based on their standards.
This episode is filled with so many valuable nuggets. Listen in as we discuss how to redefine success for yourself and find value at work.

Tue, 26 Oct 2021 - 10 - Creating Opportunities
We all know people who seem to always be in the right place at the right time. They are the ones who appear to land the dream job, live the dream life, and fulfilling their life purpose in ways we can only imagine. Fortunately, those people aren’t just subject to luck and chance. They have learned how to create opportunities for themselves.
Believing that there aren’t any opportunities for us can lead to burnout in our careers. Opportunities are present all around us. We just need to learn how to create or identify and step into them. The issue is if we are not looking for them, we are not open to receiving them. The good news is that changing our perspective on our situation to a more positive outlook and being more grateful will change how we view the opportunities we can create for ourselves. Listen in to learn how.

Tue, 12 Oct 2021 - 8 - To-Do Lists Don't Work
Do you rely on a to-do list to keep you organized and productive? My philosophy is that to-do lists don't work. They don't work because to-do lists are usually on random pieces of paper all over the place. In addition, these lists are not organized or sequential, and often you add items as they arise without considering the big overarching multi-step tasks that require a lot more time and energy.
There is a more efficient option that you can use. It's your calendar. I teach a unique calendaring method that helps you get more done in less time, and on this episode, I walk you through each step of that process to help empower you to take control of your time and how you spend it.
If you need more help with eliminating the overwhelm of your to-do list and managing your time in a way that serves you, then check out my masterclass,Crush Your Calendar, to up-level your to-do list and your productivity.

Tue, 05 Oct 2021 - 7 - Performative Busyness
Are you busy? Yep, thought so. After all, “busy” is now the standard response when you ask how someone is. Our days are largely based around reactive activities such as responding to emails, answering questions in slack, and tackling problems that crop up in our work and personal lives.
In our world, busyness equals productivity and productivity means you're worthy. And that’s not true at all. Your self-worth is completely dependent on the way you think about yourself. To truly experience this you must shift from the place of performative busyness to quality production. In this episode, I share with you some simple techniques to break the cycle of looking busy and actually get things done.

Tue, 28 Sep 2021 - 6 - Showcasing Your Success
So the trend that I'm hearing right now is people thinking that success happens to them, or for them, instead of harnessing the idea that maybe they created that success. And what I mean by this is people say things like, "Oh, it was really good timing, or I was in the right place at the right time, or they just thought I was ready for it." And I honestly just want to call bullshit. It's a bunch of BS to say that your success is because you were in the right place at the right time.
You created that success and you need to showcase it. You need to acknowledge the level of success you have and identify the level of success that you want then determine how are you going to go about creating it and I want to show you how.
Showcasing your success starts with owning your success and in this episode, you will learn how to go out there and be as successful as you possibly can by owning the success that you already have, identifying how you created it, and then you can replicate it to go create another level of success in the future.

Tue, 21 Sep 2021 - 5 - Processing Emotions
There are a lot of social constructs around processing emotions, so much so, that we spend much of our time suppressing them which I honestly think is what's hindering us. Keeping emotions bottled up is like a boiling tea kettle. Our bodies can only handle so much emotive energy before we burst. And there are things that we do to release the steam. We can talk about it, dance or work out. There are many things that we can do to let out a little pressure that makes us feel better in the moment. but those things don't get to the root of the emotion itself.
Allowing an emotion is uncomfortable. I get it. Anger, sadness, grief, it all feels really out of control. The discomfort is real, but so is the discomfort of avoidance and if you only let a little steam out now and then that kettle is still boiling, it might be a slow rolling boil, but it's boiling nonetheless. The emotion is still there, it's still pent up, and you're still going to have to address it or process it at some point down the road.
There is so much value in processing your emotions. I honestly believe that if we all gave ourselves and each other permission to express our emotions, we would be better off. Listen in to learn about the importance of processing emotions for the health of our bodies and our minds.

Tue, 14 Sep 2021 - 4 - People Pleasing
A people pleaser is someone who has a difficult time saying no, and will go above and beyond for others even if it is at the expense of their own health or happiness. As a result, people-pleasers often feel stressed and rarely prioritize their own self-care,]. When you overcommit to things you don't want to do, you only wind up feeling resentful and drained, which of course brews burnout. In this episode we will discuss how pleasing people affects your professional and personal life and what you can do NOW to improve it.

When did taking vacation become a guilty pleasure? Where burnout is a badge of honor, and us being tired is the norm? It's time to stop glorifying not taking time off and start celebrating rest. Working long hours doesn’t drive better results. Never taking a vacation won’t lead to a promotion. Yet we are so proud to talk about how busy we are all the time.
I'm here to bust burnout but I'm also here to encourage my clients, you as my listener and my audience, to be what I'm dubbing Restfully Rich. I want to normalize rest and its importance in helping us function in our daily lives. It is also required for you to be successful. And so I want to explain and describe what rest does to your body and what you can do to add more rest into your daily life. And then what this concept of being Restfully Rich actually means. Listen in to learn more.
