Caitlin is an impressively fast runner who's just started to dabble in the trails. Without much experience she has already crushed the 50km distance and will be one to watch.
In 2023 she got third place at the Squamish 50k trail race in August, which was the Canadian trail racing championships. Three weeks later, she won the Queen City full marathon in Regina, 17 seconds off her course record and qualified for Boston marathon. In November she won a World Series trail race in Puerto Vallarta Mexico which was another 50k trail race, called PuertoVallarta UTMB. This upcoming year she's excited to run Boston marathon in April and the world championships of trail running in Chamonix, France at UTMB Mont Blanc.

Buckle up as Cory takes us back to Western States 100, where he had to pull his runner from the depths of a low, to finish feeling strong.
"I feel like after this I have some fresh perspective and tips that I could bring to an episode, especially from the perspective of pacing someone that has gone from chasing a sub 24 hour goal at the beginning of the day to almost fighting the cutoff with 60km of course ahead of them.
We started just after 10pm, and wouldn't be seeing our crew for almost 6 hours. Tyler and I had to totally redo his nutrition plan on the fly, and figure out how to keep him moving to stay far enough ahead of the cutoff. He had a glorious rally, and finished with just under 2 hours to the cutoff. " - Cory

Bailey began her running journey at a very young age, competing in track and cross country through high school and into college, at Clemson University.
Photo: @somerrunner
While her college running career only lasted 2 years due to mental health struggles, it ultimately landed her in Boulder, Colorado, where she discovered trail running.
We chat about how she overcame a negative atmosphere and began to love running again.
She fell in love quickly and spent 2020 chasing competitive FKTs around the Boulder mountains, quickly growing her thirst to return to competition. In 2021, she dove into trail racing and found herself on every US podium she raced at. Come 2022, she was hungry for more and entered the international scene, ultimately placing 5th at Sierre Zinal, second in the Golden Trail World Series Final and 5th overall in the Golden Trail World Series. Bailey has lofty goals for the future, in regards to running and her voice in the community. She is a dedicated coach and an advocate for mental health and women in sport. Thu, 21 Sep 2023 - 46min - 227 - Kelsie: When the post race blues become real depression
Kelsie is an accomplished runner, having run Burning River 50 mile, the Boston Marathon, Cleveland Marathon where she BQ’d, and recently pacing a friend through his 100mile race by running the back 50 miles with him. She opens up about her struggles with the post race blues getting so bad they have become real depression. We chat about why this might happen and possible solutions.
"Running has always made me feel grounded, focused, dedicated. It also provides a type of release, a time to decompress and unwind, a time to feel my emotions and work through what I was bottling up inside. I think it’s why I continued running into my adult years. Recently in the last couple years post- race I fall into these deep depressive, borderline major depressive states for about a week after. Talking to others who suffer from the same dark thoughts and feelings have helped me learn more about how common it is among other runners and I hope to be able to help others know they are not alone." - Kelsie

Thu, 17 Aug 2023 - 1h 00min - 224 - Jenny Q: Western States 100 Debut
We chat with Jenny Quilty after her WSER 100mi debut in the fastest female field of all time.
A quote straight from her instagram @adventuresofjenthar:
"18hrs 49min, 11th woman & 100miles from Olympic Valley to Auburn in the fastest women's field yet! I said it last night and it feels the same today, I'm the happiest 11th place woman ever. I knocked almost 1hr off the prior fastest 11th place finish, and that just makes me so darn proud to be a part of this field. I ran a time much faster than I had imagined and learned more about what it feels like to accept and stay in the pain cave. I could not have asked for a more fun day running 100 miles, for only my 2nd time ever & first time at states!"

Thu, 20 Jul 2023 - 43min - 222 - Kelly: Head Coach of the Badass Lady Gang
Kelly is the creator and head coach of the Badass Lady Gang and the host of the Run, Selfie, Repeat Podcast. We chat about her behind the scenes relationship with running, and how she came up with BALG. She's also just a lot of fun.
"Kelly Roberts’ pre-BALG fitness routine consisted mostly of struggling through the elliptical and trying to shrink her body. It wasn’t until hitting post-college life, poised with a theatre degree, student loans, and the onset of panic, that she found running. Running forced Kelly to ditch perfectionism and stomp out fear of failure. Viral selfies from the nyc half marathon struck a chord with women who could relate to the struggle, and soon the women’s running community Badass Lady Gang was born." https://www.badassladygang.com/about

Thu, 25 May 2023 - 59min - 216 - Jereny: Pushing yourself to the limit
Jereny grew up in poverty, and didn't have the resources or opportunities to explore athletics. She found running as an adult and ran her first marathon in 5 hours and 25 minutes.
Early into her running journey, she found the Sports Bra Squad movement, which encourages women to embrace their bodies and focus on what they can do rather than what they look like. Through this community, she repaired her relationship with her body, leading her to repair her relationship with food. These were powerful catalysts that allowed her to run harder, longer, and faster. She eventually ran a 2:47 marathon - just 2 minutes and 5 seconds off the 2020 Olympic Trials qualifying time. She hopes to continue to working to snag that OQT, and then move on to long distance ultrasMy Marathon training blog : Patreon

Thu, 02 Feb 2023 - 45min - 204 - Isabella: The Original Ultra Bud
Isabella Janovick was born in Oceanside, CA and grew up doing team sports (basketball and swimming) then later got into extreme sports, snowboarding, surfing and skateboarding. After breaking her back snowboarding at the age of 19 and almost being paralyzed, she switched to a “safer” sport - running. Isabella began to run local road races and in 2014 met Nickademus Hollon at an outdoor bootcamp. Nick had just launched his coaching business and Isabella was one of his first clients. They ran together often, he introduced her to the trails and the ultra world and in 2015 Isabella ran her first ultra, the Lake Hodges 50k. This same year Isabella was also diagnosed with Ménière’s Disease, which causes hearing loss, imbalance and vertigo.
Isabella aka “IzzyB” continued to grow with the sport, increasing her mileage and started her own running club Ultrabuds. In 2016 she raced her first Spartan, and usually participates in 1-2 races a year in between ultras.
Professionally Izzy owns her own marketing and communications company where she works with running brands and race directors such as Injinji, Spring Energy, Nathan Sports and the Endurance Race Series, to name a few. She is also a Professor of Marketing part-time at two universities and advises senior experience projects.
When Izzy isn’t running or posting on Instagram, she spends quality time with her family in both San Diego and Idaho, husband and two rescued pitbulls Dally and Romanoff.

Thu, 10 Nov 2022 - 58min - 197 - Women Who FKT Part 2
Part 2! Five women take on the goal of highlighting women’s FKTs everywhere.
Today I speak with Dana Katz, Danielle Snyder, and Teri Smith.
Teri Smith is an avid backpacker, trail runner, cross country skier and mom. No stranger to operating in areas where women are scarce, she has been a co-race director for the Hagg Mud Ultras, a race photographer, and a ham radio coordinator for local trail races. She just completed a 188 mile FKT across the Olympic Peninsula of Washington this past summer with fellow Women Who FKT coordinator Stacey Lee.
Danielle Snyder is a coach and licensed clinical social worker and can talk through the mental barriers that women face. She creates programs help to increase athlete’s mental endurance, resiliency, and positive self-talk. https://territoryrun.co/pages/danielle-snyder
Dana is a coach and unquestionably the most enthusiastic member of the leadership and the best at making this accessible to women of all different speeds. She has experienced the high of insanely awesome PR days, the low of ultramarathon disappointments and the extreme low of foot injuries lasting way too long. https://www.ultraufitness.com/links.html

Thu, 27 Oct 2022 - 1h 01min - 196 - Women Who FKT Part 1
Five women take on the goal of highlighting women’s FKTs everywhere.
In 2021, only a third of the FKTs set in the PNW were by women. Of 353 routes established in Oregon and Washington, only 41% have women’s times. Marta Fisher and her team TAKE ACTION AND SHAKE THINGS UP.
I speak to all 5 women in the leadership team to find out how we can flip the stats.
Today we chat with Marta Fisher and Stacey Lee.
Stacey grew up in a semi-traditional Chinese-American household; where academics and music were emphasized and encouraged and athletics was discouraged. As a result, she wasn't in her mid-thirties until she truly discovered her love of running and within 6 months of starting a "Couch to 5k" program completed her first marathon. Since then, she's raced distances from 5k (road, XC and trail) to attempting her first 100 miler. Stacey's goal is to be a diverse voice in the local running community, to help enable other women of color to discover the sport, and to build a more diverse and inclusive running community.
As a little kid, Marta was the least athletic of 4 siblings. But that changed when she found running as a teenager. Over the years, the kind of running she does has changed (track/x-c, road marathons, casual jogging, trail running, ultra running) but her identity as a runner has not. One of her big running goals is to stick around the sport long enough that she gets an award for being the old woman that finishes. She definitely favors the steeper, more mountainous trails over flat, fast ones.

Alicia is not running for gold, but she could if she wanted to.
