PUNITIVE DAMAGE is a hardcore punk band from Vancouver BC. They just released an EP “Hate Training” on Convulse Records. I had the whole band on the show live from their Southeast tour and we talked Hate Training, Vancouver, Go It Alone, touring, band origin and more.

Breakneck Flow is band from Eugene, Oregon that formed in 2018. They have wrote, recorded, mixed, mastered and released an LP and EP since then. They have played tons of shows and toured the West Coast. I had three of the members on the radio for an interview and we talked Eugene, hc in Oregon, video games, the radio and everything Breakneck Flow.

KONSPIRACY is a new band having just played their second show and put out a demo. This band is playing a sound for fans of Unified Right and hardcore punk that doesn't sound perfect. They also have linked with Enthusiasm for Ruin Zine to put out their demo on tape for EFR 001. I had the whole band call in live from their gig at Rapid Skateshop in Simi Valley, CA.

I had Adam from CMI back on the show to catch up with him about how crazy the band has taken off since our first interview a little over a year ago. Sound and Fury 2024 took place at Exposition Park in Los Angeles on July 13th and 14th, and also a featured an entire week leading up shows and events. I had Tony Bertolino (Bent Blue) join me on the show to talk about this year's Sound and Fury.

No Guard is a a band from Springfield, Illinois. Since their start in 2023 they have put out a demo and an EP and they have played shows all over the midwest and east coast. I had Bee the No Guard bassist on the show and we talked Springfield hardcore, building a scene in a small town, No Guard, skinhead culture and much more. Watch Your Fall is a new band from Ventura County who has already played over 15 shows and put out an EP in less than a year. I had front man Adam on the show and we talked metalcore, Burden of Being EP, food, gaming, WYF and much more.

Flyover Fest is a hardcore fest that has been running for awhile in Tulsa, Oklahoma. You might recognize it as Promcore which was the name it operated under for many years. This year the fest returns to Tulsa, bigger than ever, and with an insanely stacked lineup. James Carroll who is one of the two minds behind the fest joined YLIA to talk about this year's fest and much more.

End of Dayz is a band from Seattle, WA and they just put out one of the best records of 2024. I had the whole band on the radio to talk about Searching for a Way Out, NWHC, moshing, gaming, End of Dayz and much more. APEX PREDATOR is a band from Federal Way, Washington with members from Odd Man Out, GAG and Crawl Space. Jeff Caffey sings in the band Odd Man Out. He also currently plays drums in Change and GAG, and periodically plays in Raw Brigade. Seltzer is a band from San Jose, CA and features members of Gulch, Big Boy, Dare and Eightfold Path. They have played a handful shows after releasing their debut EP Chromatic in 2023. FIELD OF FLAMES is a straight edge band from San Jose, CA. In the last few years the Bay Area hardcore scene has blown up and is recognized internationally, but Field of Flames has been doing since putting out their demo in 2017. I had vocalist Justin Martinez on the radio with me for an interview on 4/27/24 and we talked San Jose Sharks, Blood for Blood, FOF origin, straight edge and much more. KHASM is a band from Las Vegas who is pulling off a sound unlike most of what you hear coming out in hardcore right now. Approaching the launch of YLIA on a new radio station I had my friend Nick (PD, In Time, Enthusiasm for Ruin Zine) on as apart of my final demo for KCSB radio. I had the whole band on air with me in June 2022 so I caught up with Nick about what's been up. The Runts are punk band from Northeast Los Angeles that have been around since the early 2000's and reformed a few years ago. Since their return they have played tons of shows including Sound and Fury 23 and a rooftop, put out some new music and are currently playing a string of final shows before playing last official shows at the Lodge Room in February 2024. Wreckage is a band out of Connecticut who put out one of the best records of 2023 and have been very active this year. They put out a 5 song demo in 2021 and they've played a ton of gigs since then including Tied Down Fest in Detroit earlier this year. Sound and Fury 2023 took place during the entire week of 7/24 - 7/30 including multiple pre shows and after parties. The main fest happened outside at Exposition Park in Los Angeles, CA over the weekend and featured bands from all over the world both hardcore and adjacent genres. BIG BOY is a band out of San Jose that started in 2019 and they have put out a few releases on DAZE and played shows all over. Big Boy is easily one of the best live bands I've ever seen and one of my favorite bands doing it right now. Cola Boyy is an artist with a history in punk and hardcore in Southern California who started his solo project Cola Boyy about ten years ago and has toured with MGMT and played shows all over Europe. AFFLICTION is a new straight edge band out of Ventura County (805), CA made up of 15-18 year olds. They have been apart of the local scene for some time now and formed the band about 5 months ago. TRASH CANT is a band of three 16-17 year old kids out of Ventura, CA that started last year and have been playing a bunch of local shows. IN TIME was on the show in the middle of the pandemic October 2020 before I had ever met them and they had only played a few shows and just put out their demo. Since then they have toured, played tons of shows, put out an EP and shared the stage with Downpresser, Big Boy, Spy, Initiate, Raw Brigade, Dead Heat and Scowl just to name a few. They just put out a 12" EP on Indecision Records called "Save Your Breath" you can stream it everywhere and get a record at the Indecision Webstore. Rejection Pact was on the show over two years ago and part of the first wave of real hardcore bands I had on so it was really cool to have Devin back on the show for a radio interview on 3/9/23 on KZAA LP 96.5 FM.  Their recent LP Can We Wait? came out a few months ago on Safe Inside Records and you can buy physical copies and stream it everywhere.  Devin and I talked Can We Wait? writing/recording/release, Boise HC, the state of hc, getting older in hc, the pandemic and much more.

MAJOR PAIN is a new hardcore band coming out of Southern California and just joining the Indecision Decisions record family.  They have released a killer demo already and have shared the stage with Shackled, Age of Apocalypse, Restraining Order, Higher Power, Broken Vow and have shows coming up with More to Pride and Gorilla Biscuits.  Their bassist Cole Koopmans (Koops) joined YLIA for a live radio interview on KZAA 96.5 FM on 11/17/2022.  We talked everything Major Pain, Major Payne, hockey, Orange County Hardcore, working at Revelation Records, Fury, the straight edge and much more.  The episode finishes with a playlist made by the band. 

When I got into hardcore in the early-mid 2000's I had no choice but to be front and center for the rise and peak of "amazing core" and the Rivalry Records epic releases.  This era of hardcore is meaningful to me on a lot of different levels.  I was joined by members of the band Fading Signal (North Carolina) took take a deep dive into "amazing core" and the Rivalry Records discography.  We caught up on what's happening with Fading Signal and then we went into our discussion featuring some top 5 Rivalry lists and much more.
