- 57 - Freedom From Unforgiveness | Broadcast Replay
Galatians 5:1 says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free” and this is God’s will and great desire for His people…to live in freedom!
But, when you are living in trauma, it’s a very real and present pain that can wreak havoc on your life and pull you into bitterness and unforgiveness, which perpetually steals our joy. But thank God, He has given us keys to get it back!
Furthermore, Hosea 2:17 promises God’s people that even in seasons of great pain and deepest valleys of loss, He desires to give us back our joy and to open up for us a door of hope where we can experience His forgiveness and the benefits of covenant love, in real-time, for ourselves and for others.
This podcast with it’s accompanying resources will inspire you as you hear Kent and Beverly Mattox vulnerably share Bev's journey through unforgiveness with her own father and help you to step into the beginning stages of walking into God’s supernatural love and forgiveness:
🔑Acknowledge your pain and own your feelings
🔑Acknowledge that others may never change, but you can continue to grow with God’s supernatural help and strength
🔑Release your right to hold on to bitterness
🔑Desire Reconciliation
🔑Apply the blood of Jesus to every offense
🔑Extend an invitation to rebuild the relationship where it’s possible
You will also hear a powerful testimony of freedom and transformation from Christie Shelton.

Tue, 16 Jan 2024 - 56 - Freedom from Addiction | Broadcast Replay
Everyone has hangups and habits, right? The problem with addiction may include drugs and alcohol, but it goes far beyond that in our current cultural expression. There are so many things these days that attempt to pull us away from God.
The good news is that any habit or hangup we are dealing with cannot overcome our identity in Christ. We are a new creation and sooner or later the seed of destiny will break through the husk of iniquity, and we will walk into freedom!!
Join Pastor Kent Mattox in this podcast, as he weaves together his own personal testimony of overcoming addiction and the Biblical concepts of freedom that come through the revelation of the Father’s purpose and destiny for our lives, according to Proverbs 29:18 which says,
“Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint.”
You will also hear a powerful testimony from Chris Driver, who was not only delivered out of a coma but overcame the stronghold of addiction through the power of God and process.

Tue, 02 Jan 2024 - 54 - Freedom from Rejection | Broadcast Replay
Growing and evolving in our relationships and learning how to trust the Lord in the midst of it all is a necessary part of Kingdom transformation.
We must understand that sometimes it can be the work of the Lord in our lives when we are experiencing:
🚫Rejection from something we thought was ours, but God is saying otherwise.
🚫God allowing us to be in a position where we feel rejected.
🚫Outright rejection from people around us or within our community.
If you find yourself in these positions, then the Lord has something better for you. In fact, God could be right in the midst of your rejection and the benefits on the other side can be remarkable when you choose to trust Him and to walk through it with love and honor in your heart.
Listen in as Pastors Kent and Beverly Mattox dive into these concepts and also hear a powerful testimony from Joshua Minton, who through God’s grace has overcome so much loss and addiction and is now experiencing the supernatural reconciliation of relationships in his life.

Tue, 19 Dec 2023 - 52 - Led By The Spirit (Generosity) | Broadcast Replay
The most valuable thing we have on earth is the Holy Spirit, and Romans 8:14 reveals that when we live a life led by Him, we are demonstrating true sonship in the Kingdom.
And as we continue to grow in our relationship with Holy Spirit, we will be required to expand our capacity in the realm of generosity. Would you believe that there are around 2,600 Scriptures that tie generosity back to the righteousness of God?!
The Lord is really serious about this topic and it’s another wonderful aspect of the grace that we can receive from Our Father as we are led by His Spirit each day.
The very essence of God’s nature is giving, as the Scripture says, “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit.” (Psalm 51)
In this podcast, Kent and Beverly discuss the nature of God’s Spirit as the ultimate giver and teacher, as they talk through the parables of Jesus and unearth Scriptures that define what it really means to know the Lord through the process of letting go.

The Word of God is alive and so powerful to transform us, as we allow Holy Spirit to work in our lives and to bring forth His:
💥Reformation
💥Refreshing
💥Renewal
💥Recovery
💥Reconciliation
In this podcast, Kent and Beverly discuss how Beverly’s life and family were radically impacted and reconciled through the power of the Word of God and their obedience to respond to His message.

The most valuable thing we have on earth is the Holy Spirit, and Romans 8:14 reveals that when we live a life led by Him, we are demonstrating true sonship in the Kingdom.
One of the most amazing expressions of that overflow and sonship in our lives is the supernatural power of God! Yes, the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in us and “sooner or later, the seed of destiny will break the husk of iniquity in our lives!”
In this talk, Kent and Beverly discuss how real Holy Spirit’s Presence has been to them on their journey through supernatural encounters, even when they weren’t yet serving the Lord.
This podcast will bless you and activate you to encounter the Spirit of the Lord in a fresh way.

Tue, 28 Nov 2023 - 49 - Live Inside-out (Step 4, Assignment) | Broadcast Replay
The fourth and final measure in our transformational process is assignment.
This is the endgame, as God’s will is for us to live in fulfillment, right? We are called to shift the spiritual atmosphere everywhere we go according to the ministry model that Jesus laid out in Luke, Chapter 9:
🙏🏼 Bless
👥 Fellowship
💥 Minister
🗣 Proclaim
In this talk, Kent and Beverly dive deeper into the effectiveness of this Biblical model, with practical testimony from marketplace leader Craig Mattox included.
This podcast will inspire you to step into your God-given assignment, which is unique to your redemptive design, in order to live in Christ’s fulfillment and joy!

Tue, 21 Nov 2023 - 48 - Live Inside-out (Step 3, Empowerment) | Broadcast Replay
The 4-part Transformation discipleship path is based on four principles- identity, alignment, empowerment., and assignment.
Our lives are not based on what we do, but upon who we are in Christ. This is our identity.
The impact of that overflow causes us to be able to align with God’s Kingdom and leverage our time and money for His purposes. This is our alignment.
One of the great rewards on this journey is that God’s authority and power begin to flow in our lives as we are changed and become faithful stewards of what He’s given us. This is empowerment, the third step in our transformation process.
Empowerment is knowing that God’s presence and the wisdom of Holy Spirit goes with you everywhere you go and that the Lord has chosen to validate you as a minster of the Kingdom:
🏠 in your home
🏦 in the marketplace
📚 at school
⛪️ at church
This is the power and authority of God’s Ekklesia revealed in the earth, with the validation of Jesus’ manifest presence and unusual miracles.
In this episode, Kent and Beverly talk about God’s original intent for Ekklesia and how the church was birthed for the purpose of being God’s restorative, reconciliatory gift to the world. God wants to empower His people so we can successfully walk this out!

Tue, 14 Nov 2023 - 47 - Live Inside-out (Step 2, Alignment) | Broadcast Replay
After you become established in your identity within the 4-part Transformation discipleship path, alignment becomes a most important concept.
Why? Because how you choose to align in every area of your life is going to be crucial for moving forward, greater understanding, and bringing God’s order into these areas of your life:
🎯 what you believe
👤 who you are
💼 where you came from
👣 where you are going
Yes, your alignment in Christ will actually expand your identity and subsequently increase your capacity so you can step into your assignment and fulfill God’s will for your life.
So, God wants to sanctify two major areas in our lives so we can move forward and see that fulfillment:
⏰ our time
💸 our resources
In this talk, Kent and Beverly take us back through the process of Transformation and break down what Biblical alignment really looks like within the reality of intimacy and community.

Tue, 07 Nov 2023 - 46 - Live Inside-out (Step 1, Identity) | Broadcast replay
The first step in the 4-part Transformation discipleship path is Identity. Everything flows from here.
You see, if we don’t know who we are, we’ll strive to “shore up” our identity through—
👏 applause from others
🏆 awards
🏁 achievements
💰 accolades
💔 acceptance
None of these are “bad” in an of themselves— but they can’t tell us who we are.
So, rather than living from the “outside-in” and trying to let the externals validate us, we must live from the “inside-out” by allowing the Father to tell us who we are— and allowing the witness of the Holy Spirit to confirm it.
In this talk, Kent takes us back to the foundational lesson in Transformation and breaks down the redemptive gifts, which highlight how God uniquely designed each of us.

Tabernacles reminds us that God is near.

Wed, 25 Oct 2023 - 44 - Not on effort, but on covenant (Day of Atonement) | Broadcast replay
The Day of Atonement is a reminder of sin and sacrifice…
… in the most glorious and awe-inspiring way.
This day highlights the truth that we don’t approach God based on our effort— and what we can give (sacrifice), we approach Him based on covenant— of His radical acceptance of us and what Christ has achieved by His blood.
Now, we sacrifice— yet as living sacrifices (see Romans 12:1-2).
Moreover, we don’t sacrifice to “receive” something or “achieve” something, we give as an overflow of a people who’ve been accepted by God, going to remind others that grace “wins” and that they’ve been accepted, too.
We become the Ecclesia, taking the message of reconciliation wherever we go…

Wed, 18 Oct 2023 - 43 - Rosh Hashanah, a New Year, a New Start | Broadcast replay
Rosh Hashanah— the “head of the year”— is a time of new beginnings.
But it’s more than just that.
It’s also a time to recognize the radical grace of God in our lives, the kind of grace that enables us to start— and restart— as many times as we need…
… the kind of grace that bonds almost exclusively to weakness, because— as the Bible tells us— in our weaknesses His strength is made perfect.

Wed, 11 Oct 2023 - 42 - Return to Your Source & Start Anew (Tishrei)
We’re moving into a new year… which means a new season of interacting with the Lord. This is a great time to “return to your absolute source,” that is, to lean into the Lord.
In night sky, you’ll see the scales (Libra) reminding us of judgment— and the Day of Atonement. We get to celebrate the New Covenant anew, reminding us of the complete wholeness we have in Christ.
In the Hebrew mind, as well, this is the season when the Lord either returns OR He sets us up to live another year before Him, enjoying His kingdom here on earth.

Thu, 14 Sep 2023 - 41 - God comes near, the King is in the field (Elul)
The month of Elul is the month in which “the king is in the field.” That is, God comes near to us…
This is the season in which He wants to be involved in your business, in your home, in each area of your life. And, we’re reminded that— rather than us alone seeking Him— God is the true Seeker who is available to us.
Moreover, He brings mercy and grace when He comes, extended the very nature of Himself.
By the way, the word Elul in Hebrew is an acrostic, which states “I am beloved’s and He is mine”— and echo of Song of Songs 6:3.

Tue, 15 Aug 2023 - 40 - Make Adjustments, Continue Aligning (Tammuz)
When we look in the sky this month we see the crab— which brings about a two-fold vision to either:
🦀 guard your heart, OR
🦀 develop a hard outer shell
This is the month to take a look at who you are— and see God’s plans and purposes for you. We want to give Him the opportunity to speak into our lives…… and, make adjustments as we move forward.
When a rocket takes off, it immediately veers off-course— by about 1%. It must constantly align and re-align towards its target.
This, is what we should do as well, constantly leaning into the blessings and promises of God as we walk out His plans for our lives.

Tue, 13 Jun 2023 - 39 - Grace Lets Us Keep Going & Growing (Three Feasts)
There are three feasts in the Bible, ordained by God…
… each of which link together.
#1 = Passover is the time God provided the lamb and freed the Children of Israel from Egypt. This is a time when we celebrate God’s power. At this feast, we celebrate that God delivered the Children of Israel from slavery in Egypt after the sacrifice of the Passover Lamb— and He delivers us from sin because of the incredible work of Jesus. He cleanses us, as well, making us completely righteous. This celebration begins the Biblical calendar.
#2 = Pentecost occurs 50 days later, and is the time He gave His Word at Mount Sinai.
This is a time when we celebrate God’s provision. At this feast, we celebrate that God delivered the Hebrew people and then provided lavishly for them, even in the desert. He provided them with His Word at Mount Sinai— and pours forth His Holy Spirit even now.
#3 = Tabernacles occurs a few months later...
This is a time when we celebrate God’s presence. During Tabernacles, Jews make— and live in— temporary shelters (tents) in order to commemorate that their ancestors lived in temporary shelters when they left Egypt on their way to the Promised Land (see Leviticus 23:42-43). They also celebrate that God had a Tabernacle— a massive tent— built so that He could live among them (Exodus 25:8-9). Today, we celebrate that “the Word became flesh and dwelt [tabernacled] among us” (John 1:14). This festival commemorates that even today we journey in a land that is not our home (remember, we’re citizens of Heaven!), yet God is with us!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
By the way, not all of the feasts have yet culminated! The word “feast” is better translated as “rehearsal,” as they all anticipated a future event of incredible magnitude, all relating to Jesus (as Colossians 3:17 says above).
#1 = Passover
⭐️ Rehearsal = The first Passover involved the passover lambs and freedom from slavery.
✅ Fulfillment = Jesus fulfilled Passover when He died on the Cross, setting us free from sin!
#2 = Pentecost
⭐️ Rehearsal = The first Pentecost involved the giving of the Law, a tutor so that people might know how to live in relationship with God (see Galatians 3:24-25).
✅ Fulfillment = Now, the Spirit (which Jesus promised) is here and teaches us— the Spirit which was given at Pentecost!
#3 = Tabernacles
⭐️ Rehearsal = The first Tabernacles is likely when “the Word became flesh and [tabernacled] among us” (John 1:14).
✅ Fulfillment = Will Jesus return during Tabernacles, during the time when the trumpets are blown?
In the same way you see God’s story threaded through each month, you see the complete story of redemption unfolding in the feasts!
Tue, 06 Jun 2023 - 38 - Receive His Word & His Spirit (Sivan)
This is the time to rest in God’s provision— He gives His Word and His Spirit….
Sivan is the month Pentecost occurs— 50 days after Passover. This is when the Holy Spirt was poured out— in the Book of Acts. And, it’s the time Moses received the tablets, the Torah.
In the heavens, we see the tablets— the twins (Gemini), showing that the “heavens declare the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1).

Tue, 16 May 2023 - 37 - A Journey of Covenant (Iyar)
Ezekiel 46:1-3 reminds us that every Sabbath and every New Moon bring an fresh opportunity for us to connect with God in a unique way— to receive fresh insight and revelation to propel us forward.
Moreover, each month carries a special blessing— just like the “leaves of the tree of life” in Revelation 21-22, which offers something new every month of the year.
Many rabbis refer to this season as the “school of covenant,” as it’s the time when the Children of Israel traveled from Egypt towards Sinai and Pentecost.
They learned that God is—
💔 A healer— this was His first revelation to them when the were freed
📦 A provider— He gave them manna each day, as well as shoes and clothes that never wore out— even in the desert (and they left with the bounty of Egypt)
⚔️ A warrior— He fought on their behalf, protecting them
This is the covenant of which we’re a part.

Tue, 18 Apr 2023 - 36 - Seek the Lord, not circumstances (The Month of Av)
Av is the month the Hebrew children made one of the worst decisions of their lives— this is the month the Children of Israel were originally intended to enter the Promised Land.
However, they looked at circumstances instead of their Savior and Redeemer. Thus, they wandered in the wilderness of 40 years.
The Lion of Judah would have roared for them!
(Look in the night sky, and you’ll see Leo in the night sky, as a reminder of this prophetic season.)
This is a month to mix the promises of God with faith and receive— the Lion still roars (Amos 3:8). And, to intentionally align ourselves with God.
So, it’s a time to seek the Lord with new decisions that we make.

Tue, 02 May 2023 - 34 - Transforming Together | The Transformation Community (#033)
In Genesis 1 we see that God is relational. Over and over, we see the refrain, “Let us…” during the creation account.
In addition, we’re created in God’s image (Genesis 1:26). This means that we, too, are relational.
Jesus was / is relational as well (see John 14:6). He says that He embodies truth (i.e., truth exists in a person— not proposition statements of right and wrong). And, He’s taking us to the Father, to a relationship in its fullest expression.
We’re promised that God sets the lonely in families (Psalm 68:6), and that He binds us together in the “household of God” (Ephesians 2:19).
⭐️
However…
We must make the effort to experience this relationship. That is, we must “work” to unify and rally together.
Psalm 133:1-2 tells us that “unity” is like the oil flowing down the beard of Aaron, conjuring images of the anointing of the priest to do a sacred service on behalf of God.
In other words, unity— oneness— the “who”— is an anointing of the Spirit. It creates a supernatural super-power.
⭐️
In this episode, Kent & Beverly talk about unifying with a group of people who are walking in the same direction for the purposes of experiencing AND SHARING the message of Transformation.

Tue, 25 Apr 2023 - 33 - Created for Connection | The Transformation Community (#032)
Every major change in your life, good or bad, was probably more influenced by a WHO than a WHAT, a WHERE, a HOW, or even a WHY.
Think about it. People are the biggest influencer in life.
The greatest resource in the Kingdom of God is people.
They are— we are— the primary means God uses to change the world. And, we're better when we walk it out together.
🔥
Thankfully, we weren't designed to live alone. We were created to walk in healthy relationships.
The New Testament teaches us that we not only become "one" with the Holy Spirit when we give our lives to Christ, but that we also become "one" with each other. That is, we become part of the Body of Christ (see Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4).

Tue, 18 Apr 2023 - 32 - A New Season of Perpetual Miracles (#031)
During this season we set our hearts towards miracles, a feature of the Passover season.
Remember, before the Passover occurred, the Children of Israel had been under bondage for over 400 years. Then, it changed in a moment.
Many times, we don’t see a way forward…
👉 finances seem to be lacking
👉 faith-quotients feel low
👉 friendships & family relationships seem strained
👉 fitness and health might be frail….
But, the Passover and the season of miracles show us that these things can radically change in a moment.

Tue, 11 Apr 2023 - 31 - The Passover + God’s Ultimate Provision (#030)
This is the moment we celebrate the atonement, that is, our at-one-ment with God. This is possible… because of the blood.
Notably, when the Passover occurred, the Angel looked NOT at the qualifications the people had, but at the blood.
Today, we must do the same…
Whereas we often feel we’ve got to approach God based on our credentials and our “bless-ability,” the truth is that everything depends on the pure blood of Jesus. Moreover, the blood is effectual and it works.

Tue, 04 Apr 2023 - 30 - The Greatest Among You… Serve
When I read the scriptures, specifically the epistles, I notice that many of them begin with something like “Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ.”
Or, “Peter, a bond servant of Jesus Christ.”
In that culture, if you were a slave and you had fulfilled your time of service to fulfill a debt or other obligation, you would be set free. The master would actually give you a letter to release you from serving him.
But a lot of times in that process, the servants (slaves) would have fallen in love with their master to such a degree that, even though they were set free, they wanted to stay and serve their master. If they made a choice they would become a bond servant.
⭐️
Now, notice this…
It wasn't mandatory, it was a willful act. In effect, they were saying, "I want to give my life to serve you.”
When they did this, they placed their ear to a post at the master’s house. They drove a nail in, pierced their ear, and added a ring.
So, when you saw someone with that mark on their ear, or that ring, you knew they were a bond servant.
⭐️
Now, they served from a place gratitude, as well as love and respect. They didn’t serve because of a legal agreement, but from of a bond of love. Because of this, the master took full responsibility for their life— to make sure they always had everything they needed.
I believe that's a beautiful picture of what it means to be a leader in the Kingdom of God. It means we have so fallen in love with Jesus, our Master, that not out of obligation but out of a pure heart overwhelmed with gratitude for what He's done in our life and continues to do, we commit our lives to Him.

Tue, 28 Mar 2023 - 29 - Miracles, Freedom, & More (Nisan)
Passover occurs during this month.
The ram in the sky (Aries, who appears in the constellation) reminds us of the sacrifice that was provided for Abraham (Genesis 22:13) and of the promised sacrifice of Christ, who was also crucified during Passover (John 19:14f.).
Nisan is the first month, Tishri is the beginning of the year.
In this first month, we celebrate redemption and the new beginnings made possible by the Passover. That is, we celebrate total redemption.
🔥
We first find the word redemption in the Exodus story— where God frees His people from bondage in Egypt. But the redemption He granted them included so much more than physical servitude. He gifted them with—
* A clear mind and free will
* Cleansing from guilt and shame
* Healing for their physical bodies
* Financial blessing and abundance
* Dominion in their work
* Joy and emotional wholenessThe New Testament declares that Jesus is our Redeemer, the One who sets us free. And, if the New Covenant is based on better promises than the Old, should we not expect at least the same blessings today?
Redemption outlines what the blessings of your freedom are— and shows you how to access them in this present life.
🔥
This is the month to “reset” and begin walking in total redemption.

Tue, 21 Mar 2023 - 28 - Leadership Doesn’t Come Cheap | The Cost Leaders Pay
Kent was in Nepal a few years ago visiting a missionary. He had the opportunity to take an Everest flight. He flew over Mount Everest in an extremely small airplane.
It’s a majestic mountain that only the most skilled climbers attempt.
Here’s what was interesting: at the foot of that mountain, you can see several base camps, and they had many stories about them. They said that these base camps were the most important part of the climb to the summit.
This resonated with us on so many levels.
💜
You see, if you're going to make it all the way up a mountain, you must have a strong base camp. And that's so true for us as leaders. If we're going to climb mountains, if we're going to do great exploits for the Lord, and if we're going to lead effectively, we've got to have a strong foundation in our family from which to move or function from.
It's very important to realize this commitment as a leader. It costs everyone who is connected to you when you take up the call to lead.
It costs each member of your family— your spouse and your children— because it's a total commitment.
💜

Tue, 14 Mar 2023 - 27 - The time of your preparation grows to the size of the assignment
Leaders often want to jump straight to their calling, but God first grows our character. And, whereas our gifts come in an instant, our ability to carry those gifts takes a process. God often refines us through trials, betrayals, and wilderness-waitings in order to do something to us so that He can maximize the effectiveness of what He plans to do through us. Moreover, He often sees “more” for us that we envision for ourselves.
The waiting is often the most difficult part of the message, because I only know three ways to grow in love. I’m sure there are many, but I know of three which are really foundational to how God builds character in our lives.
Here's what's interesting: gifts are given, but character is built.
All of the gifts of the Holy Spirit— the anointing, the ability to communicate and encourage or whatever gifts God gives you.. those are all given. They’re gifts.
But character doesn’t “come instantly.” Character is built in a process over time with God.
I like to say it like this: “We live in a microwave society, but we serve a crockpot God.”
We want everything right now. But God has a process for leaders that he takes them through. It's a pattern we see throughout Scripture that God takes time to develop us— especially in the character of love.
Note: though, God does something in the waiting…
And the waiting often grows to the size of your assignment!

Tue, 07 Mar 2023 - 26 - The curse is reversed (Adar)
Our assignment doesn’t have emotions. We do.
We can move through our feelings, stay the course, and remain faithful to what the Lord calls us to do.
In other words, a mission can be hard work. And, long after it’s “fun,” we can remain faithful. Then, in time, those feelings often return…
The month Adar happens to be a month of joy and celebration— a time when those feelings return. The word Adar actually means strength.
This is a month when the feast of Purim is celebrated (the book of Esther).
The Scripture reminds us that the joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10).
This is a time, then, when the curse released against you is reversed. And, what the enemy meant for evil, God turns the tables upon… and transforms for good.

Tue, 21 Feb 2023 - 25 - Boldness is the key to experiencing God’s power in the present
Acts 4:31 tells us that the disciples moved with boldness: “After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”
That’s the place we must go— to that space where we “put ourselves out there,” knowing that the results all rest on God, not us.
One day, I stood beside Pastor Benny in a prayer line. He ministered to hundreds that evening. The prayers were all short— and strong.
“The power of the Holy Ghost goes through you!” he repeated, snapping his fingers with each declaration to each individual person who approached him for ministry.
“The power of the Holy Ghost goes through you!” he said again, snapping.
And yet again— a snap and then the declaration: “The power of the Holy Ghost goes through you!”
With each statement, something visible happened. The Spirit manifested upon the person in a tangible way we could all see.
After this occurred a few times, he looked back at me. “I’m going to teach you something,” he said. “Watch closely…”
When the next person in line approached him, he quietly whispered, “Holy Spirit, please touch this person.”
Nothing.
No change.
No manifestation.
Doc-- that's wha I call Pastor Benny (he actually has a doctorate degree)-- asked, “Do you know what happened?”
I replied, “No, I can’t tell… because that’s the way most people pray— very calmly, in an easy voice.”
“That’s right,” he said. Then— “The Holy Ghost is never released through timidity. Only through boldness.”
I didn’t understand. He could tell.
“Watch,” he continued. Then, he prayed again in that calm voice, “Holy Spirit, please touch this person.”
Again, nothing.
Then, a third time, he prayed very gently, “Holy Spirit, touch this kind person…”
No change.
He repeated the revelation, “Mattox, the Holy Ghost is only released through boldness.” He turned toward the person and declared— in the strong voice, “The power of the Holy Ghost goes through you!”
This time, the Spirit responded and touched the person!
This was a powerful, memorable moment. I learned— rather, it was revealed to me— that boldness is the key to unlock God’s power. The enemy would love for us to tip-toe through life, wondering if and when God might want to touch someone— or if it’s even His will that we minister to a person.
We don’t see that happen in the Bible, though:
Jesus declared that the leper was healed (Matthew 8:3) Jesus verified that the centurion’s servant was well (Matthew 8:13) Jesus told the paralytic to take up his mat (Matthew 9:6) Jesus prayed and then shouted for Lazarus to come forth (John 11:43) Peter commanded the lame beggar to walk (Acts 3:6)Moreover, a quick read through the New Testament reveals many more examples of this same type of boldness. Whereas we tend to pause, step back, and wonder if God wants to touch someone, the default pattern of Scripture is that He desperately wants to reveal Himself in miraculous ways— He simply needs a willing vessel to step forth, someone who realizes that the spiritual powers is “on Him” yet the physical presence is all “on them.”

Tue, 14 Feb 2023 - 24 - Welcome, Holy Spirit
Many people know Pastor Benny because of his book Good Morning, Holy Spirit. I received the two-fold blessing of helping him pull the book together as well as watching the unfolding relationship he had with the Holy Spirit which formed the basis of the book. He interacted with the Holy Spirit in the same way you and I relate to our friends. It was intimate; it was a companionship.
He told me about a meeting he attended when Kathryn Kuhlman ministered. During the meeting, she sensed someone had grieved the Holy Spirit, and she began crying— much like we might do it someone hurt a close friend or family member.
“Please don’t grieve Him,” she pleaded. “He’s all I have.”
Pastor Benny told me that, in that moment, something unlocked in him. He sensed that if the Holy Spirit really is our Helper— the One Jesus sent to that we wouldn’t be alone— then the Spirit probably has a personality. The Spirit can relate and think and feel and sense delight and even grief.
A quick study of Scripture revealed this to be true.
💛 Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit (Luke 10:21).
💛 We’re told not to put out the Spirit’s fire (1 Thessalonians 5:19), which infers we can also “fan into the flame” (see 2 Timothy 1:6).
💛 We don’t have to worry about what we will say in a situation, because the Holy Spirit will speak through us (Matthew 10:19-20).
💛The Spirit knows the mind of God and will share God’s purposes with us (1 Corinthians 2:11).
And, yes, the Spirit can be grieved, just as Kathryn Kuhlman said that night in the worship service. For that reason, Paul encouraged us not to grieve the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30).
Pastor Benny’s intimacy with the Holy Spirit goes back to the morning he woke up after traveling home from Kathryn Kuhlman’s meeting…
When he was living with his parents, he found himself exhausted after that trip. He had been riding, long hours, in a bus. He laid in his bed, sleeping soundly through the evening.
He awoke the next morning, and the words came from his mouth, “Good morning, Holy Spirit!”
In that moment, the Spirit of God entered his bedroom and made Himself known. The same intense presence he felt in the meeting was now on him in his bedroom. The glory, to use the language from the Old Testament, filled the place (2 Chronicles 7:1). This happened not only that first day, but it occurred every subsequent morning for over a year.
A few days earlier he had watched “Ms. Kuhlman,” as he refers to her talk about her intimacy with the Holy Spirit. He now experienced it himself.
Pastor Benny’s routine became:
⏰ Wake up
⏰ Greet the Holy Spirit
⏰ The Holy Spirit makes His presence tangibly known
⏰ The two fellowship together for 8-10 hours
Furthermore, the Holy Spirit taught Pastor during this time— just as Jesus promised in John 14:26 (NIV): “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
We read a similar statement in John 15:26-27 (NIV):
“When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. 27 And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.”
During those days in his bedroom, the Holy Spirit visited with Pastor Benny and revealed the reality of Scriptures, as well as the character of Jesus. He didn’t just learn stories and theological concepts— though he certainly did learn those things. More than that, He began to truly know God.

Everywhere He went, Jesus shifted the spiritual atmosphere. You can too.
In the Old Testament, under the Law, when anyone touched ANYTHING that was unclean, they became unclean themselves. This was true of people, places, and even things. Uncleanness was contagious.
However, under grace, the flow changed.
Under the covenant of grace, the shift moves in a new direction— it’s “cleanness” that’s now contagious!
Notice the conversion stories in the ministry of Jesus. His encounters seem radically different than what we’ve come to expect.

Our typical conversion pattern follows something like this sequence (the numbers are backwards— you’ll see why in a moment):
#4 = Believe = we want people to first confess to intellectual / doctrinal truths we feel are important.
#3 = Become = when they pray the “sinner’s prayer” (which, consequently, doesn’t actually appear in Scripture), we pronounce they are transformed— that all things have been made new (see 2 Corinthians 5:17).
#2 = Behave = we encourage— and expect— them to act in a certain way. Generally, this includes a list of moral obligations that we’ve put together. And, we may shun them if they don’t meet our standards.
#1 = Belong = we, in time, accept them as one of us.
That #2 part is important to us— because we want to make sure they’re truly changed. We don’t want to be tainted. They need to be totally transformed.
The “Jesus Model” works in the exact opposite manner. Notice how the steps work in the opposite direction…
#1 = Belong = Jesus embraced people first, accepting them wherever they were on their journey. Or, to use language from a few pages ago, He met them wherever they were…
# 2 = Become = At this point, they became something different, their behaviors began changing, and they start aligning with the Kingdom.
#3 = Behave = Many made radical changes, even quickly.
#1 = Believe = The entire process was so organic that, many times, it’s difficult to tell when they crossed the line from doubt to belief.

What does this mean for us today?Well, it means that we can emphatically live IN the world, but not be OF it…
… and, we can carry the presence and power of the Gospel of grace everywhere we go.

Tue, 28 Feb 2023 - 22 - Beginnings with Pastor Benny
Today, we go back to the beginning of our Christian walk and talk about the upcoming book with Pastor Benny Hinn. We met him when he was 34— Kent was only 25.
We decided to develop this book for three reasons:🔥 Scripture encourages us to “give honor where honor is due” (Romans 13:7). Benny Hinn has not only served the Body of Christ in a profound manner; he personally mentored me in the life of the Spirit.
🔥 I was, as they say “in the room where it happened.” In the same way Luke wrote an orderly account of the things he— as an eyewitness— saw, so also am I (see Luke 1:2). I served with him for over a decade, from the time his crusade and television ministries began.
🔥 I recall specific lessons I learned from Benny which— unless I share them— might not be handed to others. Paul encouraged Timothy to pass “the things he received” to other faithful leaders who might do the same (2 Timothy 2:2).
In this book, you’ll learn to walk in the presence + empowerment of the Holy Spirit! You’ll receive—
⭐️ 7 lessons I learned from my spiritual father and mentor, Benny Hinn. While serving with him for over a decade, he taught me much of what he knows.⭐️ How I learned to personally apply each of these lessons. The best lessons aren't only "taught," they're "caught." Then we must walk them out on our own. I'll show you how I did it.
⭐️ Steps to take action and implement them in your own life. Here's a hint: even though we saw them on the big stage with Pastor Benny, most of them work even better in the marketplace, in your own, and where you do everyday life.

The Kingdom of God not only has a weekly rhythm (which includes Sabbath, but it also has a monthly rhythm. But the month doesn’t necessarily begin on the “1st.” Each month we start anew with the new moon.
Twelve times a year, the moon goes through a complete cycle, orbiting around the earth. The word month actually comes from the word moon, showing the correlation between this astronomical activity and our way of measuring time.
Job 9:8-9 tells us (MSG):
All by Himself he stretches out the heavens and strides on the waves of the sea. He designed the Big Dipper and Orion, the Pleiades and Alpha Centauri.
The moon and the stars are God’s (and belong to the Kingdom of God, not the kingdom of this world), including their placement in the sky and when they become visible to us. The moon— and what we see from our position on earth— shows us where we are in relation to each month. The stars highlight which month we’re in and what we should expect.
🌕
In this talk, Kent & Beverly talk about Shevat—
Aquarius is visible in the sky.
The water carrier reminds us that our roots are being nourished, that life is coming. This month is actually referred to as the "month of trees.”
We celebrate that the Spring harvest is coming— physically and spiritually.
This is a time to plan your legacy and your family’s legacy.

Tue, 24 Jan 2023 - 20 - Not known for what they believed, but how they behaved
The Early Church— our spiritual forefathers— were known not only for what they believed but for how they behaved.
Acts 11:26 tells us something that has become common to us but would have been shocking in the first century (NIV): “The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.”
This verse reveals much about the nature of the early ekklesia.
The first Christians were not named after their leader (i.e., they weren’t called Jesus-ans or Jesus-followers). They were named— by outsiders— after His anointing.
Jesus is the name of our Savior. His name means “Salvation.” Christ is His title. It is the Greek equivalent of Messiah, which means “anointed one.” He is the one set aside by God for the purposes of redemption.
Observation: people in that day saw the followers of Jesus carrying the same power that He carried. They taught with power, they gave graciously, they performed miracles. As such, “outsiders” began labeling them for the same anointing their Master displayed.
The early church was validated by the miracles that accompanied them. This is what we see in the Mark 16:15-20 commission, and is why we need to remember both.
By the way, the ekklesia wasn’t born at Passover (forgiveness), but instead was born at Pentecost (empowerment).

Do we want to “behave” and live the right way?
Sure… and people will see it.
However, we want to be marked— and known— for His presence and power, also.

Tue, 17 Jan 2023 - 19 - Align & shine
Notice what Paul wrote about the life of Christ in the believer.
He declared, “For me to live is Christ” (Philippians 1:21).
And, “I… no longer live… Christ lives in me” (Galatians 2:20).
In other words, you are the same as Christ on this earth.
“As He is,” the apostle John concluded, “so are we in this world” (1 John 4:17).
Think about light….
We are told to walk in the light, as He is Light (see 1 John 1:7)
We read this multiple times in the New Testament— Jesus is Light (see also John 1:7). He even said Himself, “I am the Light of the world” (John 8:12).
In like manner, we read that you are light (see Ephesians 5:8). In fact, Jesus Himself declared it: “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14).
You were originally created in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:26-27). There is no part of the past, including pitfalls you’ve fallen (or even jumped!) into that the Cross and Resurrection have not permanently resolved.
To encounter you is to encounter Him. Because of the Cross, the old nature is gone and you have a new nature— His nature. In fact, the Bible tells us that you live His very life... or, that He lives that life through you.
How do we experience this?
Well, we reorder our lives around His presence and power, shifting to the priorities of the Kingdom.
In this episode of the podcast, Kent takes us back the “big rocks” analogy— you’ve probably seen it before. He shows us what happens when we start aligning our lives with the Kingdom…
When we do that, we live from what’s ALREADY inside…
… it (finally) has the ability to shine forth.

Tue, 10 Jan 2023 - 18 - Get the knots out of your line
Knots create “nots.” That is, when we’re not aligned, when we’re “all knotted up,” it creates a position in which the promises of God seem to cease flowing…
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus tells us to prioritize— that is, to “first”— the Kingdom of God. He says, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33).
Furthermore, He offers a follow-up promise that if we do this that “all these things will be added to you…”
In this part of His teaching, Jesus points to the grind of life. Everyone seeks food, clothing… the basics. “For after all these things the Gentiles seek…” (Matthew 6:32).
Now, it’s easy to read this passage and think that Jesus is telling us something like— “Yeah. People in the world are anxious about the stuff of this world…” That is, they are worried about—
👉 The things they’ll wear. Whether they’ll look in style or not. Whether it was made in a sweat shop, or whether a fair wage was paid to the workers.
👉 The things they’ll eat. Will there be enough to go around? Will it be gluten free? Is it organic or grass fed or does it have carcinogens or other random things that might hurt you in it?
👉 Everything else in life. Jobs. The kids’ schedule. Traffic. The car.
In other words, it’s easy to read this passage as if Jesus merely compares what He tells us to seek, as opposed to what most seek.
Remarkably, though, it's not just the “object" of that search which He’s suggesting should be different; it's also the manner of “seeking.” You see, the word seek in the passage is two different words (in the Greek language) which we've translated the same in English. Here’s the difference in the two words Jesus spoke.
✅ We should seek “as a hunger, without labor or toil.”
‼️ The Gentiles seek “with much sweat, toil, stress, anxiety.”
We could rephrase what Jesus tells us to do like this: “First, hunger / desire (without labor or toil) for His Kingdom and His righteousness… and everything else comes your way, too.”
Notice the difference—
The seeking Jesus tells us to do is simply to desire, to trust and act accordingly, and then be prepared to receive— by ordering our lives around the Kingdom.
The seeking the world tells us to do is to strive, strain, and hustle.
In other words, the contrast isn’t just in what we seek, but in how we seek it. We’re told to cease striving and rest in His promises.
Live in that way… and the “knots” become un-knotted, and the “nots” transform into “yes.”+++++++

Tue, 03 Jan 2023 - 17 - Shifting from a “church” mentality to the Kingdom
In 2019, the Lord asked us, “Will you present the State of Alabama to me at the Feast of Tabernacles?”
Tabernacles was just one week away…
Kent and the team kicked into high gear, reaching out to apostolic leaders throughout the State, to see if everyone could come together. They did. And something opened, something shifted.
In fact, God told us that He would release 67 angels to go back with the people to the areas they lived. Those angels would begin to work on their behalf.
💙
After this, God asked us to go to each county throughout the State.“Go to the gates of the city,” God told us.
(We had to figure out what that meant— which we later felt was to go bless the city leaders and officials. Gates, throughout the Bible, are the places where the business and government resides.)
💙
During the midst of this, we learned about the land— and how land is important. We see this throughout the Old Testament, by the way, that people actually DO affect places. We realized we should dig the dirt from each county, too.
💙
One of the best parts of this journey has been the people… the ones we’ve connected with.Sometimes, we refer to them as the “triumphant reserve.”
God has people all over, everywhere. In the same way Elijah didn’t realize there were 7,000 more besides him… that is true today.
💙
Where are we now? We’re shifting from just “salvation” (which we absolutely need) to the gospel of the Kingdom— the space where Jesus reigns over all things.
And, we’re moving from just working with “a church” to working with “the Kingdom,” with all of God’s people…
… the people who know Him, and the people who don’t yet know Him.

Tue, 06 Dec 2022 - 16 - The long way still works (so keep moving)
In this episode Kent and Bev take us back to the beginnings of Word Alive and walk through some of the significant milestones from “back then” to where we are today.
💥
Here’s one thing we’ve seen--God promises to take us to where He’s designed us to be…
We can go there two ways, though.
#1 = We can get there by revelation (that’s the path of intimacy and is easier).
#2 = We can get there by tribulation (that’s the more difficult route, but it still works).
🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Kent reminds us that, in the beginning, his father offered him the land for a church— where Word Alive now sits.
“I’ve got one piece of land,” he said, “that I was saving for your mom and me for retirement…”
He continued, “Build a building on it that you can use for a church, but don’t make it look like a church— in case it doesn’t work out.”
😂😂😂
In this experience, they learned about the prophetic… and how God often speaks to us in unique ways, leading us to walk His plans for us.The first service at Word Alive was a funeral— Kent’s dad was honored at the first event at the new church…
… and then the worship services began.
🔥
Exodus 13:17-18… tells us that when the Children of Israel left Egypt, God INTENTIONALLY took them- here’s the quote- “the long way.” He reasoned that if they went the “short way,” straight through the Philistines country (think: David vs. Goliath), they would have shuddered. They hadn’t seen war, so they would have returned to slavery. So, He led them straight towards the Red Sea and right into the wilderness (yes, all of THAT- yet, the long way- was EASIER than the short way). And, the long way equipped them for things they didn’t yet possess…
👉 They learned to fight in the wilderness (largely by just “showing up” and letting God do the fight for them = just stand).
👉 They learned about provision in the wilderness…. another one that you can only learn when everything has been pulled from you and you’re left… in the desert.
👉 They learned about God’s presence in the wilderness… where the fire and smoke and miracles occurred. Hard to see those when you’re busy in the grind of brick-making. Yet, there, in the long way… they saw it.
The wilderness revealed the true followers from the ones who had clever language and bumper sticker theology, too. When everything else was stripped away, the long way revealed what was true…
… and with that, they could move forward, better equipped when they found their way to the Promised Land.
🤷♂️
Plot it on a map. The trip from Egypt to Israel isn’t that far. Yes, it’s shorter the way they WOULD have gone, but there are things God wanted them to have, to acquire, that couldn’t be gained any other way.Was everything that happened in the wilderness His design? No. Certainly not.
But, for sure, He led them there…
For their gain.
For their good.
So when they received the blessings He promised them they could sustain them and not squander them, so they could steward them well…
🤔
The movement didn’t start as a plan “save a State,” but that’s the plan… and to see God move and transform the entire area.

Tue, 29 Nov 2022 - 15 - Controlling what you can control (Aligning with the Kingdom)
When God brought the Children of Israel out slavery, the first thing He told them was this would be “the beginning of months.” That is, they would have an actual calendar— and start walking in time (see Exodus 12:2).
Before this, they had no control of their time. They did whatever they were told, when they were told.
They had no control over their money, either. In fact, the Hebrew slaves eventually had to acquire their mud and straw (the raw materials) required to make the bricks to benefit someone else (see Exodus 5:7,11).
The first concept of freedom, then, was having control over their own time and money.
* Manage your calendar
* Manage your possessionsMany people don’t. They aren’t “in time,” so they feel crunched by time. And they don’t manage their money— it manages them.
⏰⏰⏰
There’s never enough time to do everything that could be done, but there’s always enough time to do what should be done.We tap into this reality be prioritizing God with the only two things we have authority to do anything with— time and money, the two things the Children of Israel were eventually given as they journeyed into freedom.
1 Corinthians 15:23 speaks to the importance of first fruits. Specifically, we read that “Christ was raised as the first of the harvest; then all who belong to Christ will be raised when he comes back.”
He shows us something that’s true of us.
Moreover, Paul reminds us that if the first is holy, then the rest is redeemed (Romans 11:16). We’re holy, then, because Jesus is holy. We’re whole, because He is whole.
But this same concept— about the “firsts”— works in every area of life. Particularly in terms of our time and money.

Tue, 22 Nov 2022 - 14 - (People are) the place of God's presence (w/ Paul Keith & Amy Davis)
Paul Keith and Amy Davis are two long-time ministry friends.
(As you’ll read in our forthcoming book, Alignment, this couple is the connection between us and another co-laborer, Chuck Pierce! Paul Keith and Amy introduced us.)
We invited them onto the podcast to catch up, reminiscence about what the Lord had been doing. This, as always, led to an insightful conversation about “the place of God’s presence.”
And— not surprisingly— it has to do more with PEOPLE than just a PLACE.
Here are some highlights…
💙
Amy mentioned that the Lord recently spoke to her, saying, “The anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God… in James 1:20.”
She reminds us to “look at the fruit we’re producing, as that often tells where our hearts are attached.”
💙
Paul Keith references the verse that tells us “Make ready a people for the Lord… in Luke 1:17.”
He says that many followers of Jesus think this means, “Let’s get people out of here— with a rapture.”
Really, God is looking for people to “occupy.” He wants to fill us— all of us— with His presence.
“The Kingdom,” Paul suggest, “is God fully living in us such that He can do through us what He did through Jesus when He was here…”
💙
This leads us to important questions—
What makes us a place where God can most fully, readily dwell?
And, how do we pursue His presence above all other things?
We discuss that— and more— in this episode.

Tue, 15 Nov 2022 - 13 - Your Miracle is Closer Than You Think
Recently, Kent visited Glory of Zion to preach for Chuck Pierce and the congregation he leads. He decided to take a gift to Chuck, something to honor him and publicly tell him “thank you” for the journey he’s taken with him thus far.
“I wasn’t sure what to buy,” Kent said, “so I decided to bring my friend Pastor Charles Martin to play the saxophone for Chuck and release something… we used to travel in ministry together.”
🎷🎷🎷
Charles took the stage, just before Kent shared his sermon, and played. He blew his horn on stage, he meandered through the crowd, and he— with freedom— played.Afterwards, Chuck knew something had shifted.
Chuck declared, “For years we’ve had Grammy-winning saxophone players here, and they are awesome. But they haven’t played with the freedom Charles just demonstrated. Now, since they’ve seen it’s possible, and since he’s unlocked it and imported it, they will…”
It was a defining moment.
🎷🎷🎷
Then Kent suggested, “I think Charles needs to play that sax TO you, Chuck, and release something to your soul and spirit…”So, before everyone, people prayed and Charles played…
Next, Chuck added, “This morning the Lord told me I was going to be healed.” He described the need. “And He said it would come from a saxophone.”
Chuck showed the group his socks— he’d word socks that morning, as a declaration, which had saxophones on them.
“In the Old Testament, Naaman the leper wanted to be healed. He was told to dip himself into the Jordan River 7 times. He initially thought it sounded odd, so he wouldn’t do it. It was too simple. He thought a move of God had to be something more grandiose…”
He continued, “So will I let a saxophone blow over me to experience God?”
After a moment, he added, “The move of God— your miracle— is closer than you think. It’s here…”

Tue, 08 Nov 2022 - 12 - Rise & Release (P.H.A.T. Faith)
We recently stepped into the year 5783 on the Hebrew calendar.
In this episode we stop and acknowledge what this means, as one of the key factors we’ve seen in walking in God’s power and His purposes is ALIGNMENT with the Kingdom. In fact, chapter 2 of the Transformation workbook (and Transformation process) is just that— aligning our time and treasure (the two areas which create the most stress for many people) with God’s plans.
⏰ 💰
5783 is represented by a camel. This year you should expect:* Provision
* Power through your wordsThese two are linked, so we want to examine ourselves and make every effort to— to use our word— align everything with God’s Word and His will.
⏰ 💰
Throughout the Scripture, we see that God DOES give “the power to get wealth” (see Deuteronomy 8:18). This isn’t just “wealth to keep” or “wealth to display.” Rather, it’s wealth… to bless.Remember, God called Abraham, the Father of our faith, promising to bless him SO THAT he could bless others (Genesis 12:1-3).
Paul reminds us that God blesses us abundantly— with all the things we need (and more) so that in all times and in all ways we can abound in all the good works He’s called us to.
⏰ 💰
This, then, is the year to lean into the promises of God— especially as they relate to provision. To call it forth in prayer. To prophetically release it. And to bless the people He places before you.🔥🔥🔥🔥

Tue, 01 Nov 2022 - 11 - All In Alabama / Alabama Commissioned
We are beyond grateful for the time we shared with Chuck Pierce on October 8th. This gathering was the culmination of years or prayers and prophecies and pushing forward.
Years ago, Chuck Pierce received a word from the Lord that “Alabama must go first,” that is, that the State would be a fore-runner of revival, presenting itself to the Lord and then seeing justice roll throughout the nation.
On the 8th, leaders from all 67 counties of the State came together to present themselves and the area to the Lord.
Thank you so much for taking the time to be with us, as we presented Alabama to the Lord and Chuck recommissioned us to go forth into 5783.
It was so powerful— and it’s just the beginning.
In this episode of the Freedom Podcast, we look at Chuck’s sermon from the meeting where he highlights several significant moments in the story, as well as outlines next steps and things we should supernaturally expect.

Tue, 25 Oct 2022 - 10 - The Church is Who We Are + Where Wherever We Go
Everywhere He went, Jesus shifted the spiritual atmosphere. In other words, He didn’t “go to church” to find God, He took the presence and power of God with Him everywhere He went.
You can too.
In Luke 9, we read the story of Jesus encountering nine of his disciples who struggle to cast out a demon. In fact, they fail. As He— with Peter, James, and John— come down the mountain and approach the crowd, the father of the demon-possessed boy greets Him (Luke 9:38-42 NKJV):
Suddenly a man from the multitude cried out, saying, “Teacher, I implore You, look on my son, for he is my only child. And behold, a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out; it convulses him so that he foams at the mouth; and it departs from him with great difficulty, bruising him. So I implored Your disciples to cast it out, but they could not.”
Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.”
And as he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him. Then Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and gave him back to his father.
In this passage, we see two facts:
- The disciples failed to do something they were presumably already empowered to do. Jesus appears frustrated.
The shiftIn the next chapter, Luke reports that Jesus empowered 70 additional followers, apparently with same empowerment as the original twelve. When they all gather back to provide a post-ministry report, we read something very different.
The disciples report that they were successful (Luke 10:17 NKJV):
Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”
Jesus isn’t frustrated. He rejoices, noting that He sees ultimate victory (Luke 10:18 NLT):
“Yes,” He told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning!”
AssignmentStep 4 in the Transformation book is "assignment"— it’s where we learn to apply the lessons Jesus taught the disciples BETWEEN Luke 9 (where they weren’t successful) and Luke 10 (in which they were).
This is the “sweet spot” where we discover that church isn’t something we attend, it’s something we are…

This world is not your true home; you’re from another time and place.
We simultaneously live in “two worlds,” the kingdom of this earth and the Kingdom of God. One is always seen; the other often takes a bit of focus to see. Yet, as we study more you’ll notice that the Kingdom of God, though it may appear at first glance to be hidden, is certainly always visible as well. (And, recall, repentance involves seeing things differently— perhaps in a way we’ve never seen life before.)
The Bible declares you are primarily a citizen of Heaven! For instance—
“ For our citizenship is in heaven…” (Philippians 3:20 NKJV). “These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland” (Hebrews 11:13-14 NKJV).
Here and there at the same timeRemember, though, you’re also a citizen of earth— here to bless the people among whom you live. Citizenship of the Kingdom and citizenship of the earth aren’t at odds (as many Christians suppose).
We see this clearly in the Old Testament. The prophet Jeremiah found himself in exile, living in a land that didn’t worship the One True God. Taken in captivity from Israel, he found himself living in perhaps the most pagan nation of his time.
You might think God would remove him from a world with such different values than his own, yet God had a plan for him while he was there (Jeremiah 29:5-7 NKJV):
Build houses and dwell in them; plant gardens and eat their fruit. Take wives and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to husbands, so that they may bear sons and daughters—that you may be increased there, and not diminished.
And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.
This is the context of the verse Jeremiah 29:11 (“I know the plans I have for you…”). Followers of God were expected to live their sacred values instead of the values of the world around them. God encourages them to increase in number, and bless others.
Here, to bless…We also see this perspective in the New Testament.
Jesus prayed before facing the Cross (John 17:15-18 NKJV):
I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.
Notice the balance: we’re destined to be in the world, yet we’re not of the world. We’re different in order to bless those who are here.

Grab your free copy of Transformation at www.LifeOfFreedom.site/freeTue, 11 Oct 2022 - 8 - Alignment (Instead of Looking for Something New, Re-order What’s Already True
You (already) have everything you need to live the life God designed; the key isn’t to find something “more” but to first set the things you already possess in order.
In other words, you can stop seeking and striving or the things God has already supplied tp you…
The first sets the tone for the restThe power of “firsts” empowers us to align our lives with God’s Kingdom.
We all understand the power of “firsts,” in general.
We regularly highlight “firsts.” Stores often frame the first dollar they receive. Even though many other dollars come into the store, the first is special.
We remember the men who flew the first airplane (The Wright Brothers), but we probably don’t know the second.
Everyone knows who the first President of the United States was (George Washington), even though most can’t name the second (Thomas Jefferson) or the third (John Adams).
Many people can name the man who first set foot on the moon (Neil Armstrong) but can’t name the man in the Eagle with him, who happened to be the second man on the moon (Buzz Aldrin).
As Chuck Pierce writes, “We can all remember our first car, our first date, and our first kiss. The first is special!”
It’s true Biblically, too…The Scripture reminds us of this same concept— the first matters.
Romans 11:16 tell us, “For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches” (NKJV).
The first sets the tone for the rest.
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus clearly tells us to prioritize— that is, to “first”— the Kingdom.
He says, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33).
Furthermore, He offers a follow-up promise that if we do this that “all these things will be added to you…”
Re-order what you have...In the Transformation book, step 2 is "alignment." When we arrive at step 2, we don't look to attain something outside ourselves. Rather, we look to re-order what we already possess...
And we do so by tapping into the two areas that create the most stress, yet have the greatest potential to see superntural breakthrough-- time and money.

Grab your free copy of Transformation at www.LifeOfFreedom.site/freeTue, 04 Oct 2022 - 7 - Transformation Begins Here…
You have a unique design, a special bent given to you by God. This design affects every area of life.
Proverbs 22:6 tells us, “Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they’re older they won’t depart from it.”
Pastors and spiritual leaders teach that this verse promises a spiritual boomerang of sorts— “Raise kids with a moral compass, in the Christian faith, and— even if they sway away in their teen or young adult years— they’ll eventually return to the faith.”
Thankfully this dynamic occurs. If— and when— we veer off-course, God calls us back to Himself. However, this verse highlights another truth entirely.
The word-imagery in the original Hebrew language of the Old Testament relates to buildings— of blueprints and architectural designs. Solomon (the author of the verse) contends that in the same way engineers and craftsmen create cities and skylines with intentionality and purpose, so also God takes the same care in His craft of creating people.
In effect, this Proverb tells us, “Your child has a specific design, a purpose all their own. Identify that when they’re young. When they’re older, they’ll walk in that purpose. And they’ll be all the better for it.”
In other words, “Train up a child in their unique design, according to their blueprint…”
It still applies…Many adults aren’t sure of their purpose. Remember, though, all adults were once children— and were given (by God) a unique bent, a specific design. We each have a blueprint.
f you don’t yet know your design, it’s never too late to discover it, so you can walk in it. Remember, this is an important area of repentance— of seeing things from that different perspective.
Keep in mind that...
Design determines destiny. When you understand how something is made, you understand what it was created to do. Walk through the tool corral in a hardware store and you’ll quickly observe: there are hundreds of different kinds of tools. And, they each serve a different purpose. In fact, they were each invented for a specific purpose. In every instance the truth is the same: Once you understand what the tool was created to do, you know what to do with it. To use the metaphor above, you’re a tool. I’m a tool. And when we understand how and why the tool was designed, we know what to do with it.
Gifts of the Spirit, the Son, and the FatherSeven different designs highlight the Father’s intentions for each of us. They describe how we were each made (and, thus, link to our purpose).
Many believers are familiar with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The manifestations listed in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 empower us to serve beyond our natural capacity, working in the power of the Holy Spirit (NJKV):
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
The Son also has gifts. The five-fold ministry offices listed in Ephesians 4:11-13 are people whom Jesus gives to the church in order to help the people in the church find and fulfill their purpose. These “embodied” gifts (read: these people) help us reach maturity (NKJV):
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
The Father also has gifts. Romans 12:6-8 highlights seven motivational tendencies which describe our innate tendencies to interact with people and circumstances in unique ways (NKJV):
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness….
What does this mean for us today…?Well, the gifts of the Spirit arrive when we're baptized in the Holy Spirit. And, the gifts of Jesus are the leaders given to the Body of Christ to help others find and fulfill the purpose God has for them...
But the gifts of the Father are for everyone. We receive them just for being born.
That is, they are part of that unique deisgn give you you... that special bent you have...

Tue, 27 Sep 2022 - 6 - God Has a Plan for Your Life
Paul encouraged us that “all things work together for the good.”
If all things work together for the good (again, that’s what Paul writes in Romans 8:28f— not that all things ARE good, but that they all work together for good)…
… then that also means the facts (i.e., a bad situation) doesn’t necessarily tell the entire story, that is, it doesn’t contain complete truth.
In Brennan Manning's book Abba’s Child, he quotes Saint Augustine’s reflection on this verse as stating that in the economy of God, all things work together for our good. All things. Even our past sins.
God can take EVEN that….
I’ve seen it firsthand. He takes every crooked path and makes the way straight. He takes every piece of grit and forms it into gold. He takes the broken pieces of our lives and morphs them into His best.
Such is the nature of grace.
Have faith…
Even when the facts look bleak, they only tell part of the truth.
Tue, 20 Sep 2022 - 5 - The Spirit of Elijah
Malachi prophesied of a time when God would “turn the hearts of the fathers to the sons and the hearts of the sons to the fathers” (Malachi 4:5-6).
We often want to look at what our kids owe us-- and that their hearts should turn our way. However, we're reminded in the Bible to "flip the script" and note what we can do for them.
Paul says that wise fathers should “build them up” and empower the sons (and daughters coming behind them. Specifically, Colossians 3:21 reminds us that overbearing leaders can drain the life out of their subjects (NIV):
Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.
A grizzly authority who does not realize the leader’s job is to empower people by serving “beneath” them and “pushing them up” to the greatness residing within them will discourage and even embitter the person they are leading.
Ephesians 6:4 communicates the same message:
Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
To exasperate someone literally means to “suck the wind out of them.” Rather than knocking the wind out of them, we are called— and empowered— to “breathe life into them.” This happens in the same way that—
God breathed life into Adam at creation, such that a new thing came into being (Genesis 2:7). Ezekiel prophesied for the Lord’s breath to enter the dry bones, such that the dead and decayed transformed to health and wholeness (Ezekiel 37:10). Jesus breathed life into His disciples in the Upper Room, such that men who recently fled for their lives grew courageous turned the world upside down (John 20:22).Don’t miss the difference between knocking the wind out of someone’s sails and blowing good wind into them…
Tue, 13 Sep 2022 - 4 - Rise Above the Chaos
Jesus promised that "in this world we will have trouble" (John 16:33). The flip-side, however, is that we can take heart- because He has already overcome the world.
In other words, even though we face trials, we know the end of the story. As such, we live FROM victory rather than simply contending FOR victory.
We can gain the most in the hard placesThere are some things, some treasures, which require tests and trails in order to receive.
James says to “count it joy” when you face these tests and trials- because you ALREADY know the outcome is a payoff of some sort that works in your favor (James 1:2f.).
I don’t fully understand this. I see a lot happen that seems NOT to have a gain on the other side. Or the price seems so high on the front end that it really makes you wonder...
Hence the tension of having to trust that all things eventually work together for the good (Romans 8:28f.) and that everything is made beautiful in its time (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
James uses a banking term. “Count” is “reckon” or “reconcile.” It’s one way you manage the books. You paid this out and reconcile that thing in. You gave XXXXXX and received XXXXX for it.
It’s like an investment. A purchase. A trade.
Sometimes, as James presents it, something happens in life that you wouldn’t choose— an investment you wouldn’t want. He says to endure, a high yield return is coming. A return so grand that you couldn’t have acquired it any other way.
What if the measure was different? Many times, it doesn’t make the enduring easier. Still leaves lots of questions, numerous unknowns.
But what if the measure of the test or trial is the true measure of the “gold” that can be obtained?
And what if it truly requires stepping into a place where you have nothing but empty hands and an empty heart so that you can receive the fullness of everything the Creator has for you?
Peter says the place of emptiness is important. It provides a simplicity, a purity, a perspective that only THAT spot that James writes about can provide (1 Peter 1:6-7).

Tue, 06 Sep 2022 - 3 - God Ideas— Not Just Good Ideas
In Ezra 5:2 we read, “Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Jozadak set to work to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. And the prophets of God were with them, supporting them” (NIV).
Here, we see that—
God gave his builders— workers like Zerubbabel— vision to work.And...
He sent prophets (His messengers) to confirm HIs power and presence with them.During that season, Zerubbabel faced opposition. Some people didn’t believe the dreams could come to pass; others outright worked against him.
But God’s messengers reminded him, as we dicsussed in the previous episode, to continue. Press on. Do the work.
Note, though, God sends these messengers— and HIs Word— so that we can build this time on God’s wisdom, not human wisdom.
Furthermore, He allows death to the old man-made ideals, so that God’s ideas can emerge.
That is, we need God ideas— not just good ideas.

This is a season in which, for many of us, it’s time to get up and go— again.
We see this in the example of a little-known Old Testament hero, Zerubbabel.
He was a Babylonian Jew who returned to Jerusalem at the head of a band of Jewish exiles and became governor of Judaea under the Persians. Influenced by the prophets Haggai and Zechariah, he rebuilt the Temple (see Haggai 2:23).
In his story, we see that when he began to rebuild, the prophets (and God’s voice) returned…
This step requires that we not only understand God’s timing, but that we also know what to do. And, that often requires that we make a pivot, an adjustment.
For sure, there are seasons of loss. And, we mourn them.
However, we also know that God comforts those who mourn— and He leads us to something better.
He told Haggai that the glory of the latter temple would surpass that of the former (Haggai 2:9). However, experiencing the glory required they rebuild…
The glory didn't return until the Temple was rebuilt, that is, until they did the task God called them to do.
Now is your time.

Freedom isn’t just a concept.It’s a lifestyle.
Paul tells us, “It is for freedom Christ set you free” (Galatians 5:1).
We’ve created a simple acronym to help us better flesh out what this freedom looks like—
F = Finding your identity is Christ R = Realigning with God’s times and seasons E = Engaging with spiritual community E = Exploring our gifts and calling D = Demonstrating God’s gifts O = Opening our hearts to the poor M = Making Jesus famous
In this talk, Kent and Bev talk about the times and seasons— of the Hebrew month of Sivan, leading into Pentecost. This was the time of the wheat harvest, which is a time of prosperity and blessing in each area of life.Jesus came to save— in HIs own words, “that which was lost”—not just “those who were lost” (see Luke 19:10).
In this season, we’re reminded that He redeems every area of life, including our work.
Pentecost, though we often link it to the Holy Spirit, is the season of the barley harvest. This is the time in which Ruth gleaned in Boaz’s field. Also, this is the time Moses was given the two tablets of God’s revelation.
Interestingly enough, the twins of Gemini in the sky highlight the double portion during this time period for Divine provision.
