Christopher Mott discusses realism in International Relations, the American Empire, and how the U.S. has been the most successful state in history. The liberal internationalist elite have lost their way, live in an alternate reality, and promote policies that undermine American power which is waning. The West suffers from democratism or the belief it has a woke ideological mission to terraform the planet for freedom, which it also uses to justify the suspension of civil liberties at home when it needs to. He also refers to this as "woke imperium," an activist-driven, social justice-oriented foreign policy and liberal Atlanticist tendency to push moralism and social engineering globally. He believes it's not working anymore and is becoming obsolete. Global NATO flies in the face of declining unipolarity and multipolar reality.

About Christopher Mott
Dr. Chris Mott is an international relations scholar focused on historical geopolitics, grand strategy, and the intersection of defensive realism and conceptions of sovereignty in an era of increasing multi-polarity. He holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of St Andrews, an MA in International Relations from London Metropolitan University, and a BA in History from Rutgers University.

About Zowe Smith
Zowe worked in the medical coding industry for over a decade, holding titles such as supervisor, auditor, educator, and trainer during that time. Her laboratory expertise during college proved invaluable for investigating Covid-19 PCR testing fraud. Zowe was forced to quit her medical coding career when she refused to take the Covid-19 vaccine. Financial incentives to vaccinate staff were clear.

Jeremy Cordon of Goldback Inc discusses the economy and how gold is an excellent way to preserve purchasing power. Some argue that you want to use precious metals to come out the other side of the financial transition. He's created a cash-like form of gold known as the Goldback whose purpose is to get people to spend and circulate gold as money. He's been surprised that 50% of small business owners he approaches in the U.S. agree to use Goldbacks. In some places, Goldbacks have been more popular than bitcoin. I have an un-blemished career of 47 years in the Wealth Management business.

I started my career in 1975 at the age of 18 in the UK. I worked as a Trust officer for the leading Cayman Islands Trust Company for several years before accepting a similar title in Switzerland in 1985. In 1995 I joined Coutts & Co in Switzerland as a Private Banker.

In 2015 the Wealth Management business of Coutts & Co in Switzerland was bought by Union Bancaire Privée, UBP SA, one of the four leading private banks in Switzerland.

I continued to work as a Managing Director in the Wealth Management division of UBP until I retired in 2022.

I am an active investor in all major asset classes, especially global equities. On a daily basis I am trawling through company balance sheets, reports and recommendations, and using several financial tools to help me identify and invest in quoted companies offering attractive risk and reward features. True gems are difficult to find, but if you look long and hard enough, eventually you will find them. I could quote countless examples of "Gems" I have found over the last 48 years. As an example I get very excited when I find companies with a profitable business, no debt, and holding more cash on their balance sheet than their market cap (Yes that's for real). There are plenty of interesting asset plays - situations where valuable corporate assets are not yet recognised by the market. Every year brings some kind of crisis. Some sector of the stock market will be heavily out of favour. I often find bargains in the least loved part of the market.

In addition to equities I invest in Private Equity, Precious Metals, Crypto-currencies, Property, Art, and I am open to all kinds of tangible assets.

Of course, I have cash and bonds, but frankly the interest rates don't do justice to the rate of fiat inflation. The post-Bretton Woods monetary system is drawing towards the end-game. The levels of government indebtedness continues to increase faster than GDP. This won't continue forever. Sooner or later something will break. When that happens, fiat-denominated assets, like cash and bonds, are likely to be the biggest losers. I don't want to be one of the bag-holders, hence my preference to hold more tangible assets.

Despite being retired, I am in daily discussions with wealthy, and not so wealthy, individuals on topics encompassing residency, taxes, family structures, risk and compliance and of course wealth management and investing.

About Robert Moriarty
Robert Moriarty was born in New York state in 1946. He began training as a military pilot in 1965 and became the youngest Naval Aviator during the Vietnam War in 1966. With two years in Vietnam and some 832 missions in combat, he left the Marine Corps in 1970. He worked in computers for a few years before beginning a 2nd career as a ferry pilot delivering small airplanes all over the world. He made over 240 ocean crossings mostly in single engine airplanes.

Warwick Powell discusses the East versus West conflict which is largely a symptom of the underlying economic transformations underway. There is a massive disconnect between the economy of exchange value and use value in the West which has led to a hollowing out of the economy resulting in political crises. The Global North feel their "distributional setup" is under threat and so the only way to stem the tide is to impose a set of militarily enforceable arrangements to deny the Global South the ability to become capable of creating value. Russia and China are better at harnessing AI, particularly to drive production efficiencies. He comments on currency multipolarity, dedollarization, Digital Westphalia, and describes the suspension of liberties in the West as an autoimmune response. Regarding the Algorithm Ghetto, there is slippage meaning it can't be implemented perfectly and technology inevitably brings with it possibilities of all sorts of resistance. The West is going to step up its Color Revolution-style regime change operations. Multipolarity is about the reassertion of sovereignty and an increased interoperability of states. The world is tired of Western hegemony and now has the courage and means to confront it. The challenge will be to avoid kinetic conflict.

I am a Doctor of German Functional Medicine, trained in Germany. I worked in Switzerland for a few years and continued on with training in Psychosomatics. I also trained in advanced survival.

As a result I built a sustainable development project in Northern Thailand many years ago called Solutions4Mankind Total Wellness center where there is a fully equipped detoxification program with a juice bar and a mineral hot spring spa. About John O'Loughlin
John’s mission is to expose the criminal takeover of our government which has occurred over his lifetime and that of his father, Thomas F. O’Loughlin, Jr. (1920-1971).

About Robert Moriarty
Robert Moriarty was born in New York state in 1946. He began training as a military pilot in 1965 and became the youngest Naval Aviator during the Vietnam War in 1966. With two years in Vietnam and some 832 missions in combat, he left the Marine Corps in 1970. Morgan Lerette was first deployed to Iraq in 2003 to provide security for the first aerial supply route in Iraq at Tallil Air Base, which was the staging point for the Jessica Lynch rescue. He joined Blackwater in 2004 and was sent to Iraq to protect diplomats. About Paul Craig Roberts
Paul Craig Roberts has had careers in scholarship and academia, journalism, public service, and business. He is chairman of The Institute for Political Economy.

Dr. Roberts has held numerous academic appointments including the William E. Simon Chair in Political Economy in the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He has contributed chapters to numerous books and has published many articles in journals of scholarship. He has testified before committees of Congress on 30 occasions.

Dr. Roberts was associate editor and columnist for The Wall Street Journal and columnist for Business Week and the Scripps Howard News Service. He was a nationally syndicated columnist for Creators Syndicate in Los Angeles. In 1992 he received the Warren Brookes Award for Excellence in Journalism. In 1993 the Forbes Media Guide ranked him as one of the top seven journalists in the United States.

President Reagan appointed Dr. Roberts Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy and he was confirmed in office by the U.S. Senate. From 1975 to 1978, Dr. Roberts served on the congressional staff where he drafted the Kemp-Roth bill and played a leading role in developing bipartisan support for a supply-side economic policy. After leaving the Treasury, he served as a consultant to the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Dr. Roberts was awarded the Treasury Department’s Meritorious Service Award for “his outstanding contributions to the formulation of United States economic policy.”

In 1987 the French government recognized him as “the artisan of a renewal in economic science and policy after half a century of state interventionism” and inducted him into the Legion of Honor.

He is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World.

Joe Allen discusses his book Dark Aeon and how he thinks that this idea of gnosticism as the all-encompassing boogeyman and blanket-term for everything one dislikes is misconstrued. Throughout history gnostic groups have differed with each other. This obsession with gnosis particularly becomes problematic and unhealthy when transferred into conspiracy culture. The idea that some today promote of Marxism or wokism or transhumanism as just being gnosticism re-branded might be too simplistic, this conflation is cheap and wrongheaded. In some ways the goals of technocratic transhumanism clash with gnosticism. There should be distinctions between big tech, technocracy, transhumanism and gnosticism.

About Dmitry Orlov
Dmitry Orlov is a Russian-American engineer and a writer on subjects related to “potential economic, ecological and political decline and collapse in the United States,” something he has called “permanent crisis”. Orlov believes collapse will be the result of huge military budgets, government deficits, an unresponsive political system and declining oil production.

Orlov was born in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) and moved to the United States at the age of 12. He has a BS in Computer Engineering and an MA in Applied Linguistics. He was an eyewitness to the collapse of the Soviet Union over several extended visits to his Russian homeland between the late 1980s and mid-1990s.

In 2005 and 2006 Orlov wrote a number of articles comparing the collapse-preparedness of the U.S. and the Soviet Union published on small Peak Oil related sites. Orlov’s article “Closing the ‘Collapse Gap’: the USSR was better prepared for collapse than the US” was very popular at EnergyBulletin.Net.

Orlov’s book Reinventing Collapse:The Soviet Example and American Prospects, published in 2008, further details his views. Discussing the book in 2009, in a piece in The New Yorker, Ben McGrath wrote that Orlov describes “superpower collapse soup” common to both the U.S. and the Soviet Union: “a severe shortfall in the production of crude oil, a worsening foreign-trade deficit, an oversized military budget, and crippling foreign debt.” Orlov told interviewer McGrath that in recent months financial professionals had begun to make up more of his audience, joining “back-to-the-land types,” “peak oilers,” and those sometimes derisively called “doomers”.

In his review of the book, commentator Thom Hartmann writes that Orlov holds that the Soviet Union hit a “soft crash” because of centralized planning in: housing, agriculture, and transportation left an infrastructure private citizens could co-opt so that no one had to pay rent or go homeless and people showed up for work, even when they were not paid. He writes that Orlov believes the U.S. will have a hard crash, more like Germany’s Weimar Republic of the 1920s.

Manuel Suarez-Mier is a professor at the School of International Service of American University (USA) and writes a weekly column for the financial newspaper El Economista (Mexico). He was Chief Economist for Latin America of Bank of America, Chief of Staff of the Governor of the Bank of Mexico and Senior Advisor to its first Governing Board. During the NAFTA negotiation, he was Minister for Economic Affairs of the Mexican Embassy in the United States. For five years he was a member of the economic advisory firm Laffer Associates of La Jolla, California. He has been professor of economics at the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico and in the business schools of the universities of Georgetown and New Mexico. He studied economics at the UNAM and the master's and doctorate at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Francis Boyle discusses the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China and the Biosafety Level 4 laboratory (BSL-4) from which he believes the infectious disease escaped. He believes the virus is potentially lethal and an offensive biological warfare weapon or dual-use biowarfare weapons agent genetically modified with gain of function properties, which is why the Chinese government originally tried to cover it up and is now taking drastic measures to contain it. About Johan Galtung
Johan Galtung, dr, dr hc mult, a professor of peace studies, was born in 1930 in Oslo, Norway. He is a mathematician, sociologist, political scientist and the founder of the discipline of peace studies. He founded the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo (1959), the world's first academic research center focused on peace studies, as well as the influential Journal of Peace Research (1964). He has helped found dozens of other peace centers around the world. He is currently the president of the Galtung-Institut for Peace Theory & Peace Practice.

He has served as a professor for peace studies at universities all over the world, including Columbia (New York), Oslo, Berlin, Belgrade, Paris, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, Cairo, Sichuan, Ritsumeikan (Japan), Princeton, Hawai'i, Tromsoe, Bern, Alicante (Spain) and dozens of others on all continents. He has taught thousands of individuals and motivated them to dedicate their lives to the promotion of peace and the satisfaction of basic human needs.

He has mediated in over 150 conflicts between states, nations, religions, civilizations, communities, and persons since 1957. His contributions to peace theory and practice include conceptualization of peace-building, conflict mediation, reconciliation, nonviolence, theory of structural violence, theorizing about negative vs. positive peace, peace education and peace journalism. Johan Galtung has conducted a great deal of research in many fields and made original contributions not only to peace studies but also, among others, human rights, basic needs, development strategies, a world economy that sustains life, macro-history, theory of civilizations, federalism, globalization, theory of discourse, social pathologies, deep culture, peace and religions, social science methodology, sociology, ecology, future studies.

At a time in which spin, corporate interests and political polarisation dominate, I am a writer and journalist whose primary aim is to speak the truth at all costs, regardless of how difficult or unpopular that truth may be.

Following my training with the Press Association and various placements at regional and national news outlets, I have since worked at the Hull Daily Mail, the International Business Times UK and Newsweek.

In December of 2019, I resigned from my role at Newsweek after my attempts to publish leaked documents from scientists at the U.N.-backed chemical weapons board, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, was suppressed by my editors.

The documents showed that the non-political scientists were unhappy that their findings from an alleged chemical weapons attack in Syria had been doctored and were changed to say that chlorine was present when it had not been—among other things—leading to implications that the U.S., U.K. and France launched an attack on the country on false grounds.

As attempts to publish this story failed, I discovered serious corruption at Newsweek: editors at the publication had links to the U.S. State Department and to powerful lobby groups who profited from war, thus leading to their decision to suppress the story. This is a major breach of journalism ethics and raises serious questions about freedom of press. A full post explaining the story and my findings are available here.

Now, I will be continuing that fight for truth independently. Going forward, I will be writing about freedom of speech, freedom of press, propaganda, politics, foreign affairs, international humanitarian law and more. I’m a journalist and writer based in Mexico City. I’ve been covering Latin America since 2001 for news media including Time Magazine, CNN, Reuters, The Houston Chronicle, The Associated Press, GlobalPost, France 24, CBC, The Sunday Telegraph, Letras Libres and many others. My work has also appeared in The New York Times, BBC and Guardian. I am author of the books Gangster Warlords: Drug Dollars, Killing Fields and the New Politics of Latin America (released 2016) and El Narco: Inside Mexico’s Criminal Insurgency (released 2011).

I started covering drug cartels from my early days here. I was always fascinated by the riddle of these ghost like figures who made $30 billion a year, were idolized in popular songs and miraculously escaped the Mexican army and DEA. Over the decade I followed the mystery to endless murder scenes on bullet-ridden streets, mountains where drugs are born as pretty flowers, and scarred criminals from prison cells to luxury condos.

During the same time, Mexico’s drug war morphed into a horrific conflict with brutal beheadings, massacres and mass graves. Journalists here found ourselves reporting on a human tragedy of epic proportions – with a never-ending trail of grieving parents and atrocities comparable to brutal civil wars. The need for better understanding to help find a way out of this hole has become more important than ever.

We foreign journalists all have to turn to our homelands for part of that solution. I grew up in sunny England, near the seaside city of Brighton – famous for its pink candy, pebble beaches, colleges and bubbling night clubs. It is also one of Britain’s top places for drug consumption, switching with the fashions from Moroccan hashish to Turkish heroin to Colombian cocaine. Few there ever think about where the mind-bending substances come from or what they might give or takeaway from those countries. In Europe and the United States a hard discussion on our drug habits and policy is long overdue.

As well as following drug trafficking empires, I cover the other major issues of Latin America such as natural disasters (including the Haiti earthquake), the battle between left and right (including the Honduras coup), and the vast human wave of emigration to El Norte. I was a consultant for the International Crisis Group for its first two reports on Mexico. I also love music and cover it whenever I get a chance. I co-directed a series of three short films with John Dickie, which all include a good dose of Latin American hip hop. They are Barrios Beats and Blood, Bajamar Ballad, and The Gangsters’ Granny.

UN Parliamentary Assembly Campaign
The Campaign for a UN Parliamentary Assembly is a global network that advocates democratic representation of the world’s citizens at the UN and the institutions of global governance. Supporters of the campaign include current and former parliamentarians and officials, representatives of civil society organizations, researchers, and dedicated citizens.

The campaign’s mandate is based on the international appeal for the establishment of a parliamentary assembly at the UN that was published in 2007 and on subsequent declarations. Five international meetings on a UNPA have taken place so far. The campaign’s international action and strategy is coordinated by a secretariat that is hosted by Democracy Without Borders. The secretariat works closely with the campaign’s steering committee, the co-chairs of the campaign’s advisory group, and partner organizations such as the World Federalist Movement based in New York and The Hague. The overall goal of the campaign is to mobilize government support for the establishment of a UNPA. While the campaign approaches governments, it simultaneously seeks to establish parliamentary support.

Democracy Without Borders supports global democracy and a holistic approach to democracy promotion that spans from the local to the global levels and at the same time embraces the dimensions of representation, participation, deliberation and co-decision. Democracy Without Borders strives for a democratic world order in which citizens participate beyond national boundaries in shaping policy that serves their joint long-term interests. Such an order needs to be based on an equal world citizenship of all citizens as well as on the principles of federalism, subsidiarity, the separation of powers, the rule of law, fundamental human rights, and the protection of minorities.

Julian Dierkes is an associate professor at the University of British Columbia’s Institute of Asian Research (IAR) and School of Public Policy and Global Affairs (SPPGA). He co-ordinates the IAR’s Program on Inner Asia and is a frequent visitor to Mongolia.

Dr. Dierkes is a sociologist by training (PhD Princeton). In addition to contemporary Mongolia, his research interests focus on supplementary education, especially in Japan (see e.g. Jukupedia – Shadowing Education). He has also developed an interest in Digital Diplomacy.

In UBC’s Master of Arts Asia Pacific Policy Studies (MAAPPS) program and now the Master in Public Policy and Global Affairs (MPPGA), Dr. Dierkes has co-supervised graduate projects on mining regulation in Mongolia with colleagues in mining engineering. In 2017 he taught a seminar on Mongolian politics at Humboldt University in Berlin.

He has served as an election observer in the 2008 parliamentary,  2009 presidential, 2012 parliamentary and 2013 presidential, and 2017 presidential elections in Mongolia. He has written about Mongolia for Asia Pacific Memo, East Asia Forum, the FT’s beyond BRICS, The Diplomat and elsewhere, and also consults on political risk in Mongolia.

Robert Moriarty was born in New York state in 1946. He began training as a military pilot in 1965 and became the youngest Naval Aviator during the Vietnam War in 1966. With two years in Vietnam and some 832 missions in combat, he left the Marine Corps in 1970. He worked in computers for a few years before beginning a 2nd career as a ferry pilot delivering small airplanes all over the world. He made over 240 ocean crossings mostly in single engine airplanes.

He and his wife of 25 years were computer consultants and began one of the earliest online computer retail outlets in 1995 before retiring in 2000. He began another career running a financial website in 2001 specializing in resource companies. He continues to travel the world looking for the next great mineral discovery and writes in his spare time.

James Beeland “Jim” Rogers, Jr. is a Singapore based business magnate of American origin. Regarded by the business world as a brilliant investor, Rogers is also an author and financial commentator. Retired British Ambassador to Bahrain and Syria Peter Ford discusses the Syrian War and its latest developments, including attempts to try Bashar al-Assad at the ICC. About Peter Ford
Peter William Ford (born 27 June 1947) is a retired British diplomat who was ambassador to Bahrain from 1999–2003 and to Syria from 2003–2006.

Ford was educated at Weston Point Community Primary School, Helsby Grammar School and The Queen's College, Oxford. Having finished his Arabic studies he worked in Beirut, Riyadh, Paris and Cairo before being appointed British ambassador to Bahrain as well as Syria from 2003-06. Retiring from the Diplomatic Service in 2006, he became Representative of the Commissioner-General of UNRWA in the Arab world. In February 2017, Ford became a Director of the British Syrian Society, alongside President Assad's father-in-law Dr Fawaz Akhras.

In 2003, as ambassador to Bahrain, Ford says he sent critical memoranda to London before the Iraq War. Later, he regretted not having been more outspoken. In his time in Damascus (2003-2006), he says he distanced himself more and more from the official policies. Since 2006, he has been criticised as a defender of the Syrian government in Syria. In 2016, he suggested opposition forces were responsible for an attack on a UN humanitarian convoy in September 2016 which led to the deaths of 10 humanitarians. A UN panel of inquiry said the attack was conducted from the air, and only Syrian and Russian air forces were operating in the area. The UN panel stated "that it did not have evidence to conclude that the incident was a deliberate attack on a humanitarian target".

He accused the British government of lies and political mistakes in Syria from the onstart of the uprising, thus aggravating the situation. He argued that Prime Minister David Cameron should have either committed British forces or refrained from encouraging opposition forces from mounting a campaign against the Syrian government. Ford believes that the British leaders expected an early end of the Syrian government and overestimated the strength of the moderate opposition, whom they did not provide with sufficient help.

Ford argued that the fall of Assad would open a "Pandora's box", repeating the mistakes of Libya and Iraq. In his opinion, the fall of the Syrian government would lead to the massacres of Christians, Shias, Alawites, Druze and other minorities. On the Khan Shaykhun chemical attack, he commented to the BBC that "there [had] been no investigation.. not a dodgy dossier - we've not seen any dossier whatever this time". Ford argued there was no proof of the Syrian government's involvement in the attack.

Ford participated in the EuroCE conference on the future of Syria from 5 to 6 April 2017 which was criticised by dissidents as pro-Assad, because among the speakers there were Syrian politicians and supporters of the Assad government. At the conference Ford described the British policy as "incoherent and grotesque", and accused the British government of being among those in the front rank of destroying Syria. Yves first became active in Canadian foreign policy issues in the early 2000s. Initially focused on anti-corporate globalization organizing, the year he was an elected vice president of the Concordia Student Union Benjamin Netanyahu was blocked from speaking at the university. The protests sparked a massive backlash against student activism on campus. Later in the school year the US invaded Iraq. In the lead-up to the war Yves helped mobilize students to attend a number of massive antiwar demonstrations and co-founded a small collective called Block the Empire, which organized an early morning blockade of the US consulate in Montréal. Later Block the Empire organized a number of events targeting arms manufacturers, including a tour of Montréal’s weapons industry.

While these efforts challenged Canadian foreign policy, it was only after Ottawa helped overthrow the democratically elected Haitian government in 2004 that Yves began to seriously question Canada’s peacekeeper self-image. As he learned about Canada’s contribution to violent, anti-democratic policies in Haiti Yves began to directly challenge this country’s foreign policy. Over the next three years he traveled to Haiti and helped organize dozens of marches, talks, actions, press conferences, etc. critical of Canada’s role in the country.

Former Dutch Pirate Party candidate, musician, and journalist Rico Brouwer of the Potkaars podcast joins me to discuss his experience as an average citizen trying to make a change in national and European politics with the Pirate Party, and his turn to podcast journalism. About Alfred de Zayas
Alfred-Maurice de Zayas studied history and law at Harvard, where he obtained his J.D. He practiced corporate law with the New York law firm Simpson Thacher and Bartlett and is a retired member of the New York and Florida Bar. He obtained a doctorate in history for the University of Göttingen in Germany.

Mr. de Zayas has been visiting professor of law at numerous universities including the University of British Columbia in Canada, the Graduate Institute of the University of Geneva, the DePaul University Law School (Chicago), the Human Rights Institute at the Irish National University (Galway)and the University of Trier (Germany). At present he teaches international law at the Geneva School of Diplomacy.

In 2009 de Zayas was a member of the UN workshop that drafted a report on the human right to peace, which was subsequently discussed and further elaborated by the Advisory Committee of the Human Rights Council. He is also a signatory of the Declaración de Bilbao and Declaración de Santiago de Compostela on the Human Right to Peace. He served as a consultant to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on the issue of mercenaries. De Zayas is an expert for civil and political rights and has published nine books on a variety of legal and historical issues, including “United Nations Human Rights Committee Case Law” (together with Jakob th. Möller, N.P. Engel 2009), and has been co-author and co-editor of numerous other books, including "International Human Rights Monitoring Mechanisms" (together with Gudmundur Alfredsson and Bertrand Ramcharan). His scholarly articles in the Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law, Oxford Encyclopedia of Human Rights and Macmillan Encyclopedia of Genocide, encompass the prohibition of aggression, universal jurisdiction, the right to the homeland, mass population transfers, minority rights, refugee law, repatriation, legal aspects of the Spanish Civil War, indefinite detention, Guantanamo and the right to peace. He is fluent in six languages and has published a book of Rilke translations with commentary (“Larenopfer”, Red Hen Press 2008) and is completing the translation of Hermann Hesse’s "Das Lied des Lebens".

From 2002-2006 he was Secretary-General, from 2006-2010 President of PEN International, Centre Suisse romand. He was member of several advisory boards, including of the International Society of Human Rights (Frankfurt a.M.),

About the Guest
Paul Robinson holds an MA in Russian and Eastern European Studies from the University of Toronto and a D. Phil. in Modern History from the University of Oxford. Prior to his graduate studies, he served as a regular officer in the British Army Intelligence Corps from 1989 to 1994, and as a reserve officer in the Canadian Forces from 1994 to 1996. He also worked as a media research executive in Moscow in 1995. Having published six books, he has also written widely for the international press on political issues. His research focuses generally on military affairs. In recent years, he has worked on Russian history, military history, defence policy, and military ethics.
