Hash-It-Out

In this episode, Liset and Andrew have a wonderful guest speaker Yareli Contreras. We have Yareli speak about her ways of breaking cultural barriers. Listeners will hear Yareli's story of resilience and the ways she was about to advocate for herself throughout her life. 

Liset and Andrew bring on Dr. Vimmi Panchal as a guest speaker on Hash-It-Out. We discuss several topics about working with the aging population and understanding the significance of being a geriatrician. Throughout the episode, listeners will learn about the importance of spending time with older people, the importance of exercising, and maintaining a healthy diet. Dr. Panchal provides listeners with insights of what kind of quality of life do you want to see and how she implements how she works with patient  and the family dynamic in the end of life care process.  Dr. Panchal brings up the ultimate question of asking patients what brings you joy? 

In this episode,  Liset and Andrew have a wonderful guest speaker and an USC MSW alumni Ericka. Ericka discusses about being a msw student and how the Trojan Connection has helped her in the workforce. Listeners will hear Ericka's journey of becoming a social worker and how she is able to assist others in her line of work.  

Liset and Andrew bring on Brett Anderson to Hash-It-Out to talk about her journey of being a rockstar turning into a social worker. Brett is a Trojan and Bruin, She discusses about UCLA MSW and USC MS in gerontology  programs. Bretts also talks about her struggles about being a rockstar and one of the first female bands to travel around the world. As a band was ending their tours, Brett also had to do make decisions in what was the next chapter in her life. 

In this episode, Liset and Andrew interviews Brandon Lambert. Brandon has an incredible story of finding his purpose in life. Listeners will hear the pain and struggles Brandon went through before turning his life around. Brandon shares that he had to let go of his previous life and become reborn giving his life to God.  Brandon explains we only need one person to believe in us to make a change. We feel we believe in our listeners will find their purpose. 

In this episode, Liset and Andrew interview Yaneiry. Yaneiry also known as Yanaydee discusses different hardships that she has experienced in her life. Yanaydee has an incredible story of overcoming hardship, adversity, and survival. Throughout the episode, listeners will hear the experiences Yanaydee had to go through struggling as an immigrant. In the end, Yanaydee story will enlighten listeners of her resiliency and how she spreads the love towards other people. 

Liset and Andrew hash it out with Monica Phillips. Monica has an incredible story of hope, diversity, and addiction. Listeners will hear as Monica explains her addiction and how she made the choice to change to become the executive director of the Friendly House. We believe her story can bring you a sense of hope and take the first step to change. You have the power to change and make the decisions that will lead you to a better future.

Liset and Andrew bring on a wonderful guest speaker Marlyn B.  Marlyn and Liset have been friends since middle school. Liset felt to bring on Marlyn to share her story about chance to advance. Marlyn talks about her journey to overcome several barriers that ultimately lead her to noticing the need for more involvement in our communities. This journey has ignited her passion to achieve a masters in public administration.  Listeners will learn from Marlyn to take the risk and don't have fear in what you want to do in your life. 

Liset and Andrew are thrilled to have meet Steven a new MSW student at USC. We interview Steven about the emotional journey of being new student and what lead him to becoming a social work student. Steven shares his story from being in a dark place to bouncing back into finding his new passion in the field of social work. Stevens brings great energy,  positivity, and resiliency in his new chapter of life.  As He utilizes friends and family as resources to help him to pave the path to his success in achieving his goals and starting new beginnings as a social work student at the USC MSW program. 

Liset and Andrew hash it out with a wonderful guest speaker Alondra. Alondra shares her journey about fighting for justice. In the fighting for justice episode, listeners' will hear the story of Alondra's experiences from a decade of sexual abuse and how she was able to put her rapist in prison. Alondra was able to speak up, fight for her rights, and ultimately using her past experience as fuel to become a social worker. Listeners will hear the incredible story of hope, strength, and growth that Alondra has been through and the resiliency to bounce back to help women who are going through the same situation.  

Rise of the Phoenix is the definition of the cohost and cofounder Liset Escobar. Andrew interviews Liset about her story of dealing with alcoholism and drug addiction. Liset found herself at a young age becoming an alcoholic. Eventually, She hits rock bottom several times and getting into a vicious cycle of repeating the same destructive behavior. A life changing event made Liset rise like a phoenix in motivating her to change from her lifestyle from an alcoholic to becoming an USC graduate student. This episode, listeners will feel the pain, struggle, and the new passion  in Liset's story.  Liset is a Trojan and leader, Her story will inspire listeners and others to rise up and change to be a better version of themselves. 

Liset and Andrew have a wonderful guest speaker talking about her healing journey. Neva dives into topics about being able to plant seeds as a high school teacher to becoming a social worker. Neva speaks about the decision to become a social worker to help others to reach their full potential. Throughout the episode, Neva provides insights of her healing journey and ways for listeners to do the same.  

Brighten up your day with a great episode with our special guest Natalie. Natalie shares a powerful message through her spoken word poetry. Liset and Andrew believe Natalie's poetry will impact you in many ways. Natalie shares to the listeners how to express themselves by journaling, art work, or making music can be therapeutic. Listeners will have many take aways from establishing boundaries to using your voice to advocate for others.  

Congratulations! Class of 2020. Liset and Andrew congratulate all of you for pushing through these hard times. Especially, graduating during the COVID-19 pandemic all the hard work and dedication has finally paid off.

In this episode, We Hash It Out with our special guest Claire Summers. We dive into the reasons why she went into the Social Work field. Claire talks about mental health and brings awareness on some of the issues that arise from being an undergrad student to becoming a grad student at USC.

In this episode we explore the positive, negatives, and  boundaries of the Love Byrds relationship. Our guests Nancy Pacheco and Jason Byrd talk about their relationship beginning from high school sweethearts to newly engaged young adults. We explore the challenges faced throughout this ten year relationship and the journey to personal growth in both the relationship as a couple and as an individual.

We have two special guests Gabby and Cesar on this episode giving insights about relationships. They are a wonderful couple hashing it out with us about healthy relationship advice. Liset and Andrew explore with Gabby and Cesar ways they were able to develop a thriving relationship. Gabby and Cesar provide great advice to listeners on how watch out for red flags and how they overcame conflicts, build trust, and ways to keep it private. 

While discussing how our egos can make us prideful, we bursted our bubble.   We dive into understanding how we can awaken our soul by not feeding the ego.  We discuss how we express our gratitude through these difficult times.  We question each other, how are we expressing gratitude in our daily life? How can listeners be thankful for things we take for granted?

Hash-it-Out podcast invited our colleague Tina to talk about her struggles with anxiety. Listeners can learn about how anxiety is intertwined with our professional and personal environment. 

We carry out self doubt in many different ways and different parts of our lives.  Which might consist of personal, work. and academic. Some of the takeaways of todays episode is to build courage, takes risks, and get out of your comfort zone.  

We are beginning the journey of creating Hash it out Podcast. There will be several errors and mistake. We hope to refine our skill as the time goes by. As the Hash it Out podcast continues to grow, we plan to have guest speakers to add a different perspective of their daily life struggles and how they Hash It Out.
