- 186 - Episode 112: In Awe of Marita Diffenbaugh
Marita Diffenbaugh believes that hope is a prerequisite for learning and looks for ways to help others see their value, which is why she welcomed the opportunity to write a book through a partnership with Jimmy Casas and Jeff Zoul via ConnectEDD. Her recently published book, L.E.A.R.N.E.R., Finding the True, Good, and Beautiful in Education, is for hope givers who thrive when helping others develop their full potential. Marita identifies seven essential components to consider when providing education as a service to learners, along with a remix for measuring learning success. Each chapter features the True, Good, and Beautiful, for when all three of these are present, we can be sure that students are learning how to learn, learning how to help others, and learning how to contribute in their communities and in our world.
Marita Diffenbaugh has served as a teacher, administrator, and has provided coaching and leadership support for districts, schools, and classrooms. As a connected educator, Marita has provided professional development to educators through local, state, national, and international presentations with a focus on the process of learning in both in-person and virtual spaces, care for learners of all ages, and encouragement for positive digital citizenship. She is currently sharing her passion and leadership skills to support the expansion of Elevate Academy, a public Career Technical charter school of choice for students in 6th-12th grades who are not finding success in their current education. As a partner with Elevate Academy’s co-founders, Marita is connecting education with industry and community by developing, planning, and launching this new North Idaho school in Fall 2022.
Marita is dedicated to using her strengths and experiences to advocate for respect and opportunity for all learners.
In this episode, we discuss:
Marita’s path into education and her current experience in preparing to launch a new school. A point a completely missed following up in the interview is the beautiful circle of life she is experiencing after being a teen mom in need of the kind of supports and encouragement she is striving to develop in the school she is launching!
Her experience being approached to write a book and ultimately creating a project from her heart that will inspire,
And we hear about Marita’s passion for deep learning in schools with authentic experiences for learners to thrive.I am so honored to be connected to Marita, and I know her message will deeply inspire you. It is my joy to share with you Marita Diffenbaugh’s Pathfinder story.

Stacey Green began her tenure at Stockton Grade School (SGS) as a new principal with an ambitious goal: transform the school’s culture from an isolated, individual classroom focus to an integrated, responsive, and collaborative environment where teachers lead with the whole child and the whole school in mind. Green holds an M.S. from Fort Hays State University and a B.A. from Bethany College.
Stacey was recently awarded the Kansas District V Distinguished Principal, the Kansas National Distinguished Principal Class of 2020, and a Bethany College 2020 Alumni Award of Merit.
