- 35 - A Chit Chat with Charly Bourne - Working towards a bright future
On the latest episode of the Chit Chat podcast, I had the pleasure of conversing with my dear friend, Charly Bourne. Charly shared insights about her work in sustainable horticulture at RHS Bridgewater and emphasized the importance of individual efforts towards a sustainable lifestyle for a better tomorrow.
We delved into the topic of climate change and the responsibility we hold as a society to make positive changes for a brighter future. Our conversation then shifted to our personal journeys with mental health and how understanding the workings of our mind has contributed to a more positive outlook on life.
I hope you find this episode as enjoyable to listen to as I did to have.

Sun, 06 Aug 2023 - 1h 00min - 34 - A Chit Chat with Pablo Meccano
I had a beautiful conversation with Pablo Meccano. A coach, and writer, with a depth of insight on how we are always present in the moment and how life can be exceptionally wonderful when we experience it from this space. Pablo shared some of his personal health challenges and how he is helping his body to heal from a diagnosis of prostate cancer. I felt humbled by the way Pablo approaches his experience of cancer as a portal to understanding himself and his spiritual life more deeply and how by using "nature's pharmacy" and psychedelics he is offsetting the side effects of powerful, yet damaging Western medicines. We also discussed our shared appreciation of playing the bass guitar and his love for writing science fiction stories. I hope that you enjoy this episode. In this episode, I had a beautiful conversation with my amazing friend - Chandy Singh-Hart, and we had the kind of conversation we would have had if we were sat in one of our living rooms together - drinking tea (or more accurately wine/cider!) and passing the time.
Chandy works as an Enterprise Executive for The Princes Trust where she has supported young people for over a decade in realising their business dreams and ambitions.
We talked a little bit about what she does in this role, and about some of the work she has been involved in.
We then went onto talk about some of our early sexual experiences as women. One of the things I love about Chandy is her light-hearted openness when discussing sex.
She has a beautiful and liberal feminist outlook on sex, which has definitely inspired me over the years to shed embarrassment around my journey of sexual understanding and experience. For those of you who know Chandy well, Mr Toad did get an honourable mention!
We also went on to explore our shared experience of losing our mums and how that tragedy has affected us both in coming to terms with life without our maternal figures being present.
We spoke about resilience and finding the strength within to keep moving forward, and also explored the inspiration behind Chandy's infamous (within our friendship circle) doll work.
It was beautiful to have this conversation with Chandy, and even more special to share it on the week of International Women's Day - In honour of our beautiful loved spiritual mums.
I hope you enjoy listening to our no holes barred conversation.
Disclaimer* There is a LOT of swearing and sex talk in it - so it is not for the faint of hearts.
Lots of love.
ShaneenWed, 10 Mar 2021 - 37min - 26 - Episode 9: Passion Activating Change - with Phil McManus
In this 9th episode of the Free To Be Podcast, I have a conversation with my lovely vegan friend, and colleague - Phil McManus. Phil and I both work at Leeds City Council and met when he was assigned to train me when I started my latest role. We hit it off from day one, and have stayed in touch as friends ever since.
This isn't the first conversation I had with Phil to discuss his voluntary position as Regional Co-ordinator for the North-East at Sea Shephard UK and the work he does for marine conservation, but the first recording we did wasn't great so I decided to invite Phil for another chat so we could capture a clearer recording. (If you would like to read the transcript of that first conversation you can email me at shaneen.mooney@gmail.com for a copy.)
In this conversation, Phil and I discussed what inspired him to take up a role with Sea Shepherd and what he loves about marine conversation work. He shared some worrying fact about how we treat the oceans and sea life and how that is having a massive detrimental impact on the environment and state of our waters.
Phil also shared some inspiring documentaries about animal activism, animal cruelty and what inspired him to become vegan and to start on this path of animal activism and marine conservation work.

I haven't known Cheri for very long. I can't even remember how we got connected, and yet, in the short time I have known her, she has influenced me in some profound ways.
Her spiritual insight, and the grounded way in which she shares it, has been developed through a life of encountering challenging circumstances. It was through these experiences that Cheri found the understanding that changed the outlook of her life, and she now shares that with others.

Lots of love, Shaneen xWed, 13 Jan 2021 - 48min - 18 - Episode 1: A Short Introduction
A short introduction to what the Free To Be Podcast is all about.
Here is the transcript:
Hello and welcome to the first episode of the Free To Be podcast. My name is Shaneen Mooney, and I'm looking forward to opening this podcast as a platform, and as a way of being able to explore the understanding of who we are and of how we are always free to be.
I'm excited to sit down in conversation with people who I've felt influenced, and inspired, and impacted by in a positive way. To look within myself, to find the truth of who I am, and to feel free and expressing that out. And in that process of uncovering my natural sense of self, in uncovering the understanding of who I am - I realised that we are existing in a state of absolute freedom.
We are in essence, free.
There is nothing that we need to do.
There is nowhere that we need to get to.
There isn't anything that we need to become, in order to be free.
In order to express ourselves.
We are free now.
And once I felt this. And I understood it. And I understood it as true.
I had to share this message.
And so the inspiration for this podcast was born.
I knew I needed a way to get this message out there.
Because we can become so lost in the thoughts that we experience. In the ideas and the beliefs that we pick up, that can convince us we are not free.
I knew I needed to share this message. As a reminder, of the truth that we are free by nature.
We are free in being who we are, and even when we're experiencing those thoughts- the beliefs, and the ideas, and the conditioning that tells us that we're not good enough, we're not able to be free, we're not able to express ourselves - we can look within.
To a deeper sense of being who we are. To a deeper understanding. To an understanding that I find impossible to articulate. But it's one that we know it when we feel it.
It's home.
It's being here now.
A state of presence. Of recognising that the entire universe is existing in this moment.
And when we feel it. And we understand that this is who we are. And this is where we exist. The thoughts that come that tell us that we’re not free and that we’re not good enough. Just have less power to influence our behavior.
They have less attraction. And this deeper grounded recognition of the truth of who we are in nature is what can influence and inspire and impact us to behave in a way that feels good. That feels right.
And when we experience that and we dig into that. And we express ourselves from there. We can get a real sense of this freedom that we are, and how it's always available. It's always with us. This state of presence is what we are expressed into. We never leave this place, and to me that is beautiful. That is everything. Knowing and understanding. That we never leave this place.
We never leave this state of presence. And of being free, and of being expressive and of being creative. We are always in this space of presence.
Of freedom.
Of absolute freedom.
And so my intention for this podcast is to record an episode every week.
And it will be a combination of episodes like this, where I talk and share my experiences and understanding.
And there will be episodes where I have conversations with people who I admire, feel influenced and impacted by.
And it's my hope to share them with you every Wednesday. So, I hope that you have enjoyed this introduction to the podcast.
But for now, I'll wish you all the best. Lots of love. Take care. Bye

I love the understanding Amy has about innate wellbeing and I'm excited to see how she develops her wellness brand and coaching practice with this inside-out approach to health and wellness.
If you want to learn more about what Amy does in her work you can also connect with her via her Instagram handle @cripcrunch
