Why Do the Innocent Suffer? - If God is all powerful, knowing and just, then why doesn’t God stop the evil, pain, and suffering in our world? How do we reconcile the idea of a good and loving God with natural disasters, with suffering brought about by human decisions, and with suffering that results from illness? Universal Charger - The flame of God’s presence is always with us, and the Spirit pushes us to reach out and share that divine energy with others. The book of Acts challenges us to break down barriers and be like a universal charger, connecting to people who may not be exactly like us, so to build up the Body of Christ.

What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do - God blesses us through suffering and troubled times. Remember that God’s grace moves through unexpected people and unexpected things.

What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do - Many of us struggle with the difficult moments in our lives because we don’t realize that it’s okay to not be okay. But troubled times do come. And you will be okay!

What Do You Do When You Don't Know What to Do? - There are times in life when we don’t know what to do, and we find ourselves having to wait for direction. Jesus calls us to get back to the basics. He calls us to the table of grace, to find him in the community.

What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do - When you’re struggling with how to answer the big questions, it’s important to remember to have faith in God. Also remember that God has faith in you!

This is an indication that Luke thinks this is important stuff and therefore, we should take note. This Sunday, we’ll focus on the story of the healing of the Samaritan leper that again demonstrates Jesus’s passion for lifting up the lowly.

Luke: Jesus and the Outsiders, Outcasts and Outlaws - Jesus often taught through stories and parables. Stories have a heartbeat, and we will listen together to the Gospel of Luke for the heartbeat in one of Jesus’ parables.

Luke: Jesus and the Outsiders, Outcasts and Outlaws - Jesus valued women, saw them, had compassion for them, ministered with them, and lifted them up. Jesus saw them as children of God, and Jesus sees you.

Luke: Jesus and the Outsiders, Outcasts and Outlaws - Jesus came to lift up the lowly. This is a central theme of Luke’s Gospel, which we find in the opening stories as God chooses and uses the “very old” and young people to bring about His purposes.

Telling Your Story - Each of us is significant and our stories matter. There is someone who needs to hear your story and feel welcomed into the story of God.

Telling Your Story - Part of our redemption comes from telling our whole story. By telling the whole story, we are able to see how through God’s grace, even the greatest of sinners are redeemed.

Telling Your Story - From Netflix to social media, stories fill our imagination and time. The problem is we often compare our stories with others and feel unimportant. The good news is you are connected to the greatest story ever told.

Why?- With this final message in our series, we’ll see how God works in our world and how our faith sustains us and gives us hope. God promises to walk with us, work through us, and force the evil and suffering in life to bend toward good. With God, the worst thing is never the last thing.

Why? - Is everything that happens predetermined by God’s will and bound to take place, or does God give us the freedom to resist his plan? God can and will transform our pain, redeem our suffering, and lift us out of the darkest of pits. Out of these dark moments, God writes a story of triumph. And with God as our co-author, the dark times are never the end of our story.

Why? Many people struggle with faith when they feel as though God is silent in times of great need. To help us make sense of this, we’ll see what Jesus had to say about prayer and consider the various ways God answers.

Why? - If God is all powerful, knowing and just, then why doesn’t God stop the evil, pain, and suffering in our world? How do we reconcile the idea of a good and loving God with natural disasters, with suffering brought about by human decisions, and with suffering that results from illness? God does not promise that we will not suffer, but God does promise that suffering will never have the final word. God is our greatest source of hope, help, comfort, and strength.

Epiphany - We continue the story of Jesus’ birth as we celebrate Epiphany, the arrival of the Magi, and greeting the newborn King. Through their long journey, we’ll see how the good news of Jesus moves beyond Bethlehem and becomes good news for the world.

Bringing Joy - “My soul proclaims your greatness, O Lord!” begins the Magnificat, Mary’s song of praise. Her song reminds us that in Christ we may find joy in all circumstances.

Bringing Peace - It is through the birth of Christ that God speaks peace to his people — we only need to turn our hearts towards God to receive it. As we long for the peaceable kingdom described by the prophet Isaiah, we put our hope in the promise of peace that Jesus offers for a beloved community.

Bringing Hope - Emmanuel means God with us. Even while the world is not yet as it should be, God is with us, bringing promised hope.

Earn, Save, Give - In our heart of hearts, we know that by simply increasing our wealth we cannot satisfy the deepest longings of our soul. Changing the way we use our money sets us free from the bondage of narrow self-interest and opens our lives to the way the Spirit of God can work through us in the lives of others.

Earn. Save. Give. - Having earned all we can, we move to John Wesley’s second rule of Christian care - to save all you can. At the center of a biblical perspective on money and possessions is an awareness that none of it really belongs to us. We are stewards of things given by an extravagantly generous God who trust us to act wisely with our gifts, modeling God's own generosity.
