Hi guys and welcome back to the mystery comedy old time radio podcast. Please welcome back to the show as we continue our spooktober presentation part 3. Miss Alice Fay and Mr Phil Harris in the Alice Fay and Phil Harris show part 4. I know it\'s been a while since I dropped you guys an episode I do sincerely apologize I\'ve been very busy with my personal life and work life. But I\'m back for tonight and tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night as we wrap up our spooktober part 3 presentation. I hope you guys have enjoyed your October so far and the nice cool weather. But please join me as we bring to the show Phil Harris and Alice Fay. In this first episode we find their daughters Phyllis and baby Alice trying to figure out what they want to wear to a costume party that they\'re attending when they decide on an Indian costume their mother thinks that\'s a great idea. So when both parents are gone the girls have an idea that Phyllis will cut baby Alice\'s hair. But when their dad comes he shocked to find his daughter in that condition so to keep him out of the hot seat his friend has an idea. To cut his daughter\'s hair to even it out but unfortunately does it not even out it freaks out their mother when she comes home and screams as she sees her daughter looking like a mannequin. So the girls go to their party with wigs on their hair to fix up the mess that their dad made. And it is called the costume party. In this next episode we find the couple trying to decide what the theme and costumes are going to be for their Halloween party that they\'re hosting as they go through the singing Alice has had enough of one guys singing and it\'s not her husband. So her husband and her end up not only hosting but providing the musical entertainment for the evening. And it is called the Halloween party. And welcome to spooktober part 3 I hope you guys had a wonderful summer and now that the weather is cooling down it is time to bring back something now chill your spines. Join me as I bring to the show Ms Mercedes mccambridge and two other shows in death makes a phone call. In this first episode we find a man who is being tormented by his wife who died a year ago. Every hour on the hour she calls him on the phone and tells him how many hours he\'s got to live. It is called beyond the grave and then this next episode we find that a husband has told his wife that he wants a phone line to be installed in his coffin when he passes away. But his wife is so loyal that she does what her husband asked her to do and waits by the phone until the unthinkable happens when someone knocks at her door and she sees standing before her a man that she thought was dead whom she had Loved before. So she is contemplating in her mind whether to stay and wait for her husband\'s call or follow her heart\'s desire. But unfortunately for the man in the coffin the phone is left ringing until the very end and it is called the line is dead. In this final episode we find a woman who has been tormented by her husband\'s phone calls and ends up getting caught up in a web of corruption when she corrupts herself to confessing to the murder of her husband. But her husband is calling her every hour on the hour and telling her how many hours she has to live and torments her with a song that he played when he was alive. Hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy old time radio podcast. Please join me as we welcome in his first episode on the show Mr Cary Grant. Mr Grant started his career out in the 1930s appearing in many movies before receiving an honorary mention for an Academy Award in the 1942 movie Penny Serenade and none but the Lonely Heart. Even though Mr Grant never received an Academy Award until 1970 when he received an honorary award for his film career. Mr Grant also received a Kennedy honor award in 1980. Before passing away in 1982. But tonight Mr Grant comes to the show to chill our spines in two episodes of suspense. In this first episode he plays a man who has taken a nasty fall on the street and ends up in a coma but ends up coming to with a lot of people around him. When they tell the man that it is December instead of July he comes to realize that he has lost about 3 years of his life. So when he tries to go home a detective is following him home to try to capture him for a murder that he did not even remember doing. So with the help of his wife they end up going to the house where the murder took place. But it\'s not until later that he ends up finding out that the murderer is closer to him then he could ever imagine. It is called the black curtain. In this next episode Mr Grant plays a married man who is coming back from a picnic with his wife when all the sudden it begins to rain and a News Bulletin is on the radio so they listen in. As the news broadcaster tells the breaking news of woman who escaped from in Asylum and is murdering people as they pick her up. So the couple ends up driving until they run out of gas when all the sudden out of the pitch black darkness they see a woman who they believe to be the crazy woman and she ends up getting in their car. But it\'s not until later that they find out that the crazy woman has been captured. It is called on a country road. Liz helps her bill from Miller\'s department store it\'s not in the mail but unfortunately for Liz it is and George her husband is not very happy with her. So Liz tries to tell George that he needs to ask his friend and boss Mr Atterbury for a raise. But George is not very persistent when asking his boss for one. So Liz comes up with her own ideas on how to get Georgia raise. But unfortunately for Liz it does not work out. It is called George gets a raise. And in this next episode we find the Coopers once again in their kitchen when Katie starts singing Happy Birthday to Liz. But Liz tries to not remember her birthday because it just reminds her how much older she\'s getting. But unfortunately for her husband George he has completely forgotten that it was Liz\'s birthday. So with help from their friend and George\'s boss Mr atterberry. They both throw her a surprise birthday party at her house. But George has invited his mom\'s friends to celebrate her birthday instead of Liz\'s. So they all pretend that it\'s Liz\'s birthday party and Liz has the time of her life. Please join me as we continue women\'s month with the queen of comedy herself Ms Lucille ball as she comes to chill our spines. In this first episode Ms ball plays a woman who is a secretary. When all the sudden her long-time boyfriend and fiance ends up breaking their 5-year engagement. So she ends up driving down the road and down the major highway through the southeast of Texas. When all the sudden some breaking news comes over the radio that there was a robbery and a shooting in Abilene at a bank. So she ends up finding out that the police are looking for a red-headed woman and a dark haired Latino male who are the suspects. So as she\'s driving down the road she ends up stopping to pick up a man on the side of the road and takes them to his truck. His truck said a hotel so she ends up checking in for the night. In the middle of the night he ends up hearing a couple argue and the arguments stops when the woman\'s voice is no longer heard. And it is called the red-headed woman and co-starring with Ms ball is her real life husband Desi arnaz. And in the second episode Miss Ball plays a young woman who is on her way after a long day at work home. So she takes the subway to get home when all the sudden someone gets her purse. So a great man ends up bringing back her purse but when she opens it up. she realizes it contains a lot of money. So as she\'s writing the subway home a man whistles Yankee Doodle the whole way. Hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy Old Time radio podcast. Please welcome to the show to kick off women\'s month for the month of March Miss Claire Trevor. Miss Trevor started her career out in 1929 appearing in many theater productions in Broadway shows before getting her big break in Hollywood and the early 1930s. Miss Claire Trevor starred in many movies and television shows but what two movies she is best known for is her 1944 movie murder My Sweet. And her performance which one her and academy award in 1948 key largo. Miss Trevor also appeared in many TV shows and tell her final performance in 1987. In murder she wrote Miss Trevor enjoy her retirement until passing away in 2000 even though Miss Claire Trevor has been gone for 23 years her memory and legacy will live on her TV shows movies and especially in her old time radio shows. Today Ms Claire Trevor comes to the show to reenact three of her suspense performances. In this first episode she plays a woman who has set set a deadly trap for her husband and his mistress in the Mistresses apartment. And it is called light switch. In this next episode Miss Claire Trevor plays another woman who tries to conduct a plan with her husband to get him finally free. By doing the unthinkable and killing his brother and it is called the plan. In the spinal episode Ms Claire Trevor plays a older sister who has moved on with her life and has a family of her own. While unfortunately for her little sister named Adele she can\'t let go of the promise that they made to each other on their mother\'s death bed. It is called the tail of two sisters. We find the burns getting ready to celebrate New Year\'s Eve with their friends. When all the sudden Gracie ends up forgetting to mail out the invitations so she goes through the whole town finding out who will join the party. So she ends up going to the last person and tells him a wonderful idea that they\'re going to have the party earlier than they expected to not only surprise George but to also fool him. In thinking that it\'s New Year\'s Eve. And it is called the New Year\'s Eve show. hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy Old Time radio podcast. please join me as we welcome to the show back by probably demand Mr and Mrs Ozzy and Harriet Nelson with their son\'s Ricky and David in the show also. in The adventures of Ozzie and Harriet Nelson. in this first episode we find the Nelson family once again asleep when all of a sudden Mrs Nelson starts talking to her husband who is sound asleep at 2:00 in the morning in and then she decides to go to sleep herself when all the sudden they hear their faucet dripping in the bathroom. and wakes her husband Ozzy up to take care of the leaking faucet. so Mr Nelson has a wonderful idea of letting the water run faster so that stops the faucet from dripping but unfortunately Mr Nelson\'s plan backfires when their bedroom becomes flooded. it\'s called the dripping faucet. in this next episode we find the Nelson\'s once again in their own when all the sudden their boys David and Ricky go out for trick or treating and it is Halloween night at the Nelson home. Mr Nelson unfortunately misses when he was a kid when they did so much for Halloween like going to a haunted house. so the other members of the Nelson family have a way to make Ozzie childhood memory come true when he visits the haunted house. but unfortunately the other Nelson family members do you not know that the plane eventually backfires on them when Ozzie finds out how they pulled it off. so Mr Nelson gets them all back that next morning. and it is called the haunted house. hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy Old Time radio podcast I hope you guys have had a wonderful day please join me this morning as I bring our first episode for spooktober part 3 starring Mr Orson Wells and Miss Maureen O\'Hara and two other episodes from the old time radio show murder at midnight. the title of the episode is called death has an occupation. in this first episode Mr Orson Welles plays a man who is a well knowned doctor. One night the doctor his own experiments about two brains One came out of a monkey and the monkeys brain witch only lasts one day then unfortunately dies. The second brain is from a very know wall street broker who is very rich. his name is William Donavon and one night mr. Donavon is involved in a terrible accident. the doctor still wants to go on with his experiment and does the unthinkable kills Donovan instead of saving his life. but beyond the grave Donovan is still alive and conducts his own experiment on the doctor. it is called Donovan brain and it is going to be in two parts. in this next episode we find a well-known musician playing his music in his cottage and he claims to love a woman who needs very attracted to you. but unfortunately Roger the woman that he\'s attracted to does not love him back the way he does. so the two end up in car and Roger is badly injured and the woman\'s husband who is the friend and doctor ends up having to cut off his left hand. so when Roger sees that it\'s gone he is bound and determined to get another one at any cost even taking someone else\'s from so one night he does just that. and it is called the Dead hand. and then this third episode we find a couple listening to the radio one night when all the sudden the news comes on and the murderer who has been killing red-headed women is loose out on the streets of New York and ends up finding victims in a particular apartment complex. and unfortunately is Mo is red headed ladies and there is one lady named Georgia Grant who is so frightened that she can\'t even leave her house without feeling like the killer is going to strike her next. it is called the creeper. and then this final episode starring Miss Marine O\'Hara she played a woman who is trying to help her fiance who is a detective with solving a killer who is at large and strangles young women who look like a girl who broke his heart. so Jenny does her own detective work one night by going to a bad nightclub on the wrong side of town. but unfortunately for jenny her detective work fails. until a man who robbed her sees a woman died in the alley. Jenny does not know that the killer is closer to her then she thinks. and it is called the white rose murders. hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy Old Time radio podcast. please welcome back to the show Miss Kathy Lewis and Miss Maire Wilson in the CBS comedy show my friend irma. in this first episode we find the girls once again in their living room when Jane looks over and sees her beloved Irma with a icebag on her head and hot water bottle her feet. when Irma tells Jane that she feels that she is sick and Jane tries to tell Irma that she\'s not sick. so later on the episode Richard comes along and tells Jane that he has some exciting news for her she is going to be going on a business trip to Chicago. so as Jane leaves to get ready for her trip Irma opens up the balcony and sees their neighbor who is a little boy over at his house by himself. so the little boy tells Irma that he\'s sick but Irma doesn\'t believe him and invites a little boy over. so Jane returns home to find the little boy in their living room and knows that Irma invited the little boy over so Jane thinks that her and Irma have to quarantine the night before Jane goes on her trip. but unfortunately for Jane her beloved friend Irma keeps her up all night. later on that night a doctor comes to make a house call visit. when the doctor tells Jane that his son was making it up she calls Richard and well talking to Richard the doctor tells her that Irma is sick with the measles and it is called Irma get sick. in this next episode we find the girls once again discussing their futures with their boyfriends and their wedding day and how they\'re going to celebrate their honeymoon. so as the girls are talking Irma gets a phone call from her boyfriend Al. Al tells her that they can go to a matinee show on Broadway. so Irma is very excited to go with her boyfriend to the show. when all the sudden her plans change when misses O\'Reilly tells Irma that her friend Amber has called her and tells her to give her a call back. so Irma\'s plans change and Jane ends up going with Al to the show. but later on the episode Irma finds out that Amber is getting married that afternoon and is held responsible for getting her wedding ring at Kay\'s jeweler. but Jane thinks that Irma has bought her own wedding ring and returns the money to the bank. but what Jane does not know is that she got herself in quite a pickle with Amber lipscot. and it is called Irma buys her own wedding ring. Mr radio himself Mr Elliot Lewis. Mr Lewis started his career out in 1936 at the age of 18 years old. he went on to produce write direct and act in many shows such as the Jack Benny program the Alice face show, the clock and many others. Mr Lewis is best known for his writing and producing and also directing many old time thriller shows such shows as the Whistler Arch obler\'s plays suspense and many others. Mr Lewis married his wife Miss Kathy Lewis who is best known as Miss Jane Stacy in the CBS comedy show my friend Irma. Mr and Mrs Lewis went on to direct produce and write and also start together in many episodes of suspense. before divorcing in 1958. only after 1 year of his divorce he met his second wife in 1959 while writing for the Lucy show Miss Mary Jane Croft who is also a famous actress. Mr Lewis and Miss Croft were married until Mr Lewis passed away in 1990 due to heart problems. but what a lot of people may not know is that Mr Lewis also served our great country during world war II producing many shows overseas for the armed radio forces Network until 1946. after his last known writing credit in the 1970s Mr Lewis went ahead and retired and became a well-known novelist for his detective series The Pinnacle which you can find on Amazon or your local bookstore. until he passed away even though Mr Lewis has been gone for more than 30 years his memory and legacy will live on in many of his shows. in this first episode he plays a man who is caught in a love-hate relationship with a woman and does the unthinkable by thinking that he\'ll end her life so that he can be free and it is called can\'t we be Friends. in this next episode Mr Lewis plays a man who is a well-known burglar and thief. and later on becomes a murderer by killing the victims of his crimes and it is called concerto for a killer. in this final episode from the old time radio show escape Mr Lewis plays a man who has written a horrifying biography about what is going to happen to him and the woman he is trying to save from these vicious people. a young lady picks up a notebook to write in and find the horrifying biography written in that notebook. it is called an evening primrose. Denver McGee and Molly started in 1935 and last until 1959 last for then 24 years. before coming to the television in 1959 and only last one season as a TV show. but Mr and Mrs Jim Jordan enjoy their careers together until marlin Jordan passed away from cancer in 1961. Jim remarried after his first wife passed away. he remained marry to his second wife until he passed away in 1988. even though fibber McGee and Molly have been off the air for 62 years. there legacy will live on forever. in this first episode which is titled the pilot episode we find favorite McGee and Molly driving down the road when all the sudden McGee runs a red light and it stopped by a cop. the cop gives him a ticket and he has to appear before a judge. but McGee and Molly get themselves in quite a pickle. in the second episode which is called the hot dog and the blowout. we find McGee and Molly at a carnival. when McGee wants to get a hot dog and Molly refuses to let him buy one but McGee is stubborn and reluctant and she ends up giving in McGee gets his corn dog. so when the couple is driving home when all of the sudden their tire blowout. so they go to a gas station to fill up and get there tire blowout fixed. hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy old Time radio podcast. please welcome back to the show the queen of comedy herself Ms Lucille Ball with Mr Richard Denning in the CBS comedy show my favorite husband. as we continue our women month presentation for the month of March. in this first episode we find Liz and George once again in an unpredictable situation when Liz has forgotten an important date with their friends to meet at their house. unfortunately for George he is tired of his wife\'s absent-mindedness. so one day George ends up setting an appointment for a psychiatrist for his wife Liz. so Liz goes to the appointment and the psychiatrist let\'s her know that he has an appointment on the same street that she lives on. so Liz offers to drive the doctor to his appointment. but Liz is absent-mindedness goes into overdrive when she forgets that her husband has the car. but she thinks it\'s stolen so the cops end up taking up George for stealing Liz\'s car. so George is so mad at Liz that Liz ends up faking it having amnesia to get herself out of trouble with him. so later on in the episode the car gets stolen once again for real this time. so the coopers go back to the police station. and Liz gets another visit from the psychiatrist. and it is called absent-mindedness. and then the next episode define the coopers once again contemplating their day. when all the sudden their phone rings and Liz is talking to the little boy that lives next door and he is playing a cops and robbers game with Mrs Cooper. so Liz goes on and plays with the little boy and then the little boy tries to get George to play along with him. so Liz ends up convincing George to play with the little boy and so did you and the little boy takes a pair of handcuffs and places them on the wrist of George and Liz. so when Liz wants to be free the little boy tells her that those aren\'t the toy handcuffs those are real handcuffs. so the Cooper\'s call the little boy\'s dad and his dad says that he doesn\'t know where the keys are for those handcuffs. so the coopers are unfortunately stuck together. so George goes to his job at the next day to meet up with his friend and boss Mr attaberry to meet up with an important client. but unfortunately Liz has to go with him to work. so finally a local locksmith finds a couple and unlock them. but Mrs Cooper tries to explain to Mr Attaberry what happened. and ends up recuffing her and George again. and it is called George and Liz get handcuffed. hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy Old Time radio podcast. please welcome to the show this afternoon to chill our spines the first woman to appear behind the microphone Miss Lauren Tuttle. Miss turtle started her career in 1936 appearing behind the microphone with Mr Orson Welles and Hollywood hotels she also appeared on many shows such as Ozzy and Harriet Nelson, the Red Skelton show, lux radio theater, suspense and many others. but what a lot of people may not know is that Miss Tuttle also appeared on the big screen her career have finally reached its peak in 1960 appearing on two films of that era on Alfred Hitchcock\'s horror classic psycho co-starring with Mr Anthony Perkins. and in the 1960s Mafia crime movie ma Barker and her gang starring as ma Barker herself. Miss Tuttle enjoyed her career which expanded 35 years until passing away in 1986. even though Miss Tuttle has been gone these past 35 years her memory and legacy will live on forever in the many movie and television shows she appeared on. but today we bring Miss Tuttle the first woman behind the microphone to chill our spines. in this first episode she plays a woman named Kathy has been married to a man for many years but ends up falling for another man one day her husband who she is married to now Allen laughs and scoffs at her when she tells him she is leaving him for another man he ends up laughing so much that he tells her go ahead and leave me but you\'ll come back so when her husband leaves for work she ends up planning a scheme in her mind to get revenge on her previous husband Allen by blaming his murder on her current husband George. George Morris is a well-known city council person in the town and tells his wife Kathy that she needs to be careful because there\'s a lot of gossip going around town with the women at the hair salon place but Kathy pays no attention to her husband\'s warnings and ends up seeing her former husband Allen behind his back but she is not cheating on him she\'s wanting Alan to paint a portrait of herself that he can put in City Hall and she knows that her ex-husband is the only one that can paint in the whole town and make it portrait the way she wants it. but once the details of her ex-husbands day unravel before her ears she has a plan set in motion. one day she tells her husband that a man is in their backyard trying to break in then her husband George ends up telling her that he\'s going to put security out there but she is reluctant and he does not do it until one night. Kathy ends up escaping the house and goes to the apartment building where her ex-husband Alan knows and the details of her crime become well-known who has set an officer outside her house because of the prowler lurking around their home. and it is called like let george do it. and in this next episode we find this a young woman name Francis who works in cabin inn for her stepfather is having for many years her mother is gone and her stepfather is the only one that cares but she has grown to resent her stepfather and ends up wanting him to leave her alone and let her live her life but unfortunately for her stepfather can\'t do that until she is 21 years of age so the young girl ends up thinking the only way to end this madness is by ending her stepfather\'s life so she ends up killing her stepfather and end up trying to go across country to escape her guilt but unfortunately for the young woman her guilt ends up catching up with her when a criminal from another state and a well-known doctor in the city find the man who has been murdered the doctor ends up telling me the radio station in the radio station relays the message throughout the whole town.she goes to another town and finds a burger joint and ends up stopping there but then her past ends up catching up with her yet again so she\'s on the run again until her crime ends up catching up with her. and it is called the highway escape. I know I\'m getting this out to you guys kind of late but please enjoy my Christmas part 2 presentation to finish up our Christmas spectacular part 2. in this first episode starring Mr James Stewart and Ms Donna Reed. we find a man named George Bailey going through a lot before the Christmas season. he\'s been through a lot in his life as a little boy he saved his brother from drowning but ended up having a severe ear infection. to working for a pharmacist who lost his only son due to the flu and has become bitter and tries to find comfort and alcohol. so George is in the middle of his life and is wanting to end it all but an angel named Clarence comes down from heaven and prevents George from taking his life by jumping off the bridge. and it is called it\'s a wonderful Life and it appeared on the lux radio theater and we are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the featured film. in this next episode starring Mr Frank Sinatra it is from the Hallmark playhouse and it is called room for a stranger. in this we find a man who is on military leave for the Christmas holiday but ends up getting some bad news that he has to be back by Christmas. so the man does not know what to do and how to spend Christmas with this girlfriend. so he ends up going to a small little town and he ends up calling his girlfriend and telling her that maybe she can meet him at the little town that he\'s in. so she goes to the little town and the people there are really friendly and heartwarming. so to make the couple feel like they aren\'t going to miss anything they end up throwing a big Christmas celebration for the couple with all the comforts of home. and in this final episode we find a man who has a severe illness that the doctors have only given him a few days to live with. but we also find a young woman who has been incarcerated and ends up being able to go home to spend time with their family but has to go back to jail by January so the woman ends up finding the man and invites him to her aunt and uncle home for dinner one night and she slowly starts falling in love with him. but later on he comes to find out that she\'s been in prison and he never knew about it. and it is called I\'ll be seeing you and it is from the lux radio theater starring Mr Joseph cotton. Mr and Mrs Anderson are wrapping gifts for all for their friends and neighbors. when Mr Anderson tells his family that they are missing the true Spirit of Christmas so he wants to get Christmas tree from the forest instead of getting one from the store. to give his family an old-fashioned Christmas so the Anderson family gets in the car and they are heading towards the forest to get a tree. when all the sudden they get stuck in the snow. while they were driving to the forest there was a store that they passed on the way. so the Anderson family goes in the snow to the store but when they go to the store to get warm they come to find out that is also a house. so when husband came home he told Jim that he and his family are not going to be able to go back to town because of the weather. so Anderson family makes the best of it. The Anderson kids ask the nice couple who let them stay in there home where there kids. the kids find out that the couple kids are grow and don\'t come to see them anymore. so the Anderson kids have a great idea and make there own Christmas party for the nice couple. it\'s called an old fashioned Christmas. in the second episode we find Bud Anderson and his three friends are practicing to sing for the country club Christmas party. when bud and his friends find out there mayn\'t be a party they try to make sure Mr Anderson there will be a Christmas party even Mrs Anderson is trying to get her husband to make sure there will be a Christmas party. so they go ahead with the Christmas party. it\'s called planning a Christmas party. Hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy Old time radio podcast please welcome to the Ms Eve Arden in the CBS comedy show Our Ms brooks.Our Miss Brooks was a hit on radio from the outset; within eight months of its launch as a regular series, the show landed several honors, including four for Eve Arden, who won polls in four individual publications of the time. Arden had actually been the third choice to play the title role. Harry Ackerman, at the time CBS\'s West Coast director of programming, wanted Shirley Booth for the part, but as he told historian Gerald Nachman many years later, he realized Booth was too focused on the underpaid downside of public school teaching at the time to have fun with the role. Lucille Ball was believed to have been the next choice, but she was committed to My Favorite Husband and did not audition. CBS then-chairman Bill Paley, who was friendly with Arden, persuaded her to audition for the part. With a slightly rewritten audition script—Osgood Conklin, for example, was originally written as a school board president, but was now written as the incoming new Madison principal—Arden agreed to give the newly revamped show a try.Produced by Larry Berns and written by director Al Lewis, Our Miss Brooks premiered on CBS on July 19, 1948. According to radio critic John Crosby, her lines were very \"feline\" in dialogue scenes with principal Conklin and would-be boyfriend Boynton, with sharp, witty comebacks. The interplay between the cast—blustery Conklin, nebbishy Denton, accommodating Harriet, absentminded Mrs. Davis, clueless Boynton, and scheming Miss Enright—also received positive reviews. Jeff Chandler played Boynton and stayed with the role for five years, even after becoming a movie star. He ultimately resigned because it was too exhausting to juggle a regular radio role with his film commitments.Others in the cast included Anne Whitfield as Conklin\'s daughter, Harriet. Arden won a radio listeners\' poll by Radio Mirror magazine as the top-ranking comedienne of 1948–49, receiving her award at the end of an Our Miss Brooks broadcast that March. \"I\'m certainly going to try in the coming months to merit the honor you\'ve bestowed upon me, because I understand that if I win this two years in a row, I get to keep Mr. Boynton\", she joked. She was also a hit with the critics: a winter 1949 poll of newspaper and magazine radio editors taken by Motion Picture Daily named her the year\'s best radio comedienne.For its entire radio life, the show was sponsored by Colgate-Palmolive-Peet, promoting Palmolive soap, Lustre Creme shampoo, and Toni hair-care products. The radio series continued until 1957, a year after its television life ended. Miss Lucille Ball and Mr Richard Denning in the CBS comedy show my favorite husband. in this first episode we find Liz and George sitting and they\'re dining room eating dinner by candlelight when all the sudden George wants to turn on the lights so he can see Liz. but as he gets up from the table he ends up knocking over the salt shaker and Liz tells him to throw it over his shoulder. because if he doesn\'t he\'ll have bad luck and then she knocked on the wood table. so George ends up finding out that not only is his wife superstitious but Katie the maid is also superstitious. but one day a little girl who is their next door neighbor comes over for a visit and later on that day a cricket is heard chirping it drives George crazy. and Liz is getting tired of it too so they called the exterminator to get rid of the cricket but are unsuccessful. later on the little girl from next door stops by and ask the coopers if they\'ve seen her pet cricket. and it is called superstition. and in this next episode we find the coopers have not gotten an invitation to be guest at the atterberries Halloween party. but unbeknownst to the coopers they do not know that the atterberries and all their closest friends are planning a surprise party for them. and it is called the Halloween surprise party. hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy Old Time radio podcast. tonight I you bring you spooktober part 2 and the title of the episode is when experiments go wrong. in this first episode we find a man running down the street terrified that the mad scientist who he was kidnapped by is coming to get him. so he tells the chief of police and another well-known scientist in the community about the horrors he experienced at the mad scientist house. as the mad scientist named Dr Brian Vance has made a ray gun that can dissolve anything or create something that no other scientist has ever tried. so as the man is telling other two men the story they are horrified about what they\'re hearing. and it is called the heavy death and it is from the old time radio show murder at midnight. in the second episode we welcome Mr Arch obler\'s production lights out and the title of that episode is called the revolt of the worm. another well-known scientist has perfected a formula for growing his roses so he works his assistant day and night to perfect the formula and put it on his roses. but unfortunately the man of science doesn\'t know that he\'s not only growing something above the Earth but below it as well until one night when his wife vanishes from his side in falls into a hole in their backyard. and in this final episode from the murder at midnight old time radio show. we find a man who has been a dwarf all his life and who is a well-known performer. with a man named Petrov who is a big heavy man and treats his little performer bad and controls everything he does. until one night a doctor tells him about a capsule that he has made to make small or dwarfed animals grow to normal size. so one night the little man escapes his hotel room finds the magic capsules and takes them. but not only do they make him grow but they continue to make him grow until he is over 6 ft tall. and the title of that episode is called The secret of xr3. hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy Old Time radio podcast please welcome to the show this morning to chill our spines writer director and producer Mr Arch obler as we bring his old time radio horror show lights out to the show this morning. in this first episode we find an old man who is a con artist of death he brings women who are young and well body able to help him with his work and give them a place to stay. unfortunately for the women who stay with him the only thing the landlord brings them is death as he has killed over 30 women. in his house of horrors until one day a young woman gets revenge on him for killing her sister over a month ago. and the title of that episode is called murder Castle. and then this next episode we find another man who is trying to enjoy the day and goes to his backyard to plant a new tree that he had just bought and as he\'s digging all big enough for a tree. he ends up stumbling upon an old grave and the grave is made of stone and it\'s over 1500 years old. so he calls his maid an old woman to call some in for him to help him finish digging up the coffin. but later on as the men are lifting up the coffin the maid comes out. to tell the men to put it back and the men end up dropping the coffin on the maid which kills her instantly. but the man ends up opening the coffin and reveals a 1500 year old woman who is a pagan God and the man ends up dying. the title of that episode is called we dug it up. We reflect on this terrible day remembering the lives of ordinary citizens and federal workers generals and captains who lost their lives on that terrible day over 20 years ago. those of us who were just leaving our lives as a normal day over 20 years ago we\'re suddenly glued to our TVs watching the horror unfold on that tragic day. on this bonus episode we will hear the FFA audio from September 11th 2001 and the timeline of those events that happened after the world trade center towers we\'re both attacked and also on that day our country was shaking to its foundation but are strength and determination in God and each other have prevailed over these past 20 years. may we never forget the lives that were lost on that terrible day each year but may we also remember that we are all Americans and that we are all God\'s children and he is watching over our country and all of us each and every day. to end this episode we listen to and address of the nation from former President George w bush. and to finish off this episode we listen to Mr Bing Crosby as he sings God bless America and Mr Frank Sinatra as he sings America the beautiful. also guys to honor the lives that were lost on that terrible day I\'m going to be playing my memorial episode of the amazing Grace followed by taps and the 21 gun salute to honor those who lost their lives on that awful day over 20 years ago. may we remember how truly blessed we are to live in this country and thank you to all the men and women who have fought to keep our American spirits alive. Mr Wilson started his career in the late 1930s as a voice actor and later on went to become an old time radio producer and writer. his best known old time radio show is called The Whistler. he was married to his wife who was a famous actress named Catherine. Mr Wilson and Catherine never had any children but were married from 1953 to 1984. both passing away 6 months from each other. even though Mr Wilson has been gone for more than 30 years his memory and lazy will live on forever. in this afternoon show Mr Wilson\'s production The Whistler comes to chill our spine. in this first episode we find a woman who is trapped between love and jealousy love for a man who doesn\'t love her back and jealousy for the woman who took him away from her. the woman becomes so obsessed with the man\'s wire that she does the unthinkable and kills her. but the guilt is overwhelming her and her business partner. until it all unravels right before her eyes. and the title of that episode is called The mirage. and in this next episode we find a man who is caught between depression and reality. a man named Henry who is overwhelmed by his business and becomes very depressed about it and then the depression becomes hatred towards anyone. Henry ends up giving in to his murderous urges. and the title of that episode is called the urge to kill. and then the final episode we find a young woman who has a wealthy aunt and uncle that have taken care of her goes off to college and leaves the nest. only to come back to her aunt and uncle\'s home to be married. her aunt is disgusted at her decision and tells her that if she does not end the marriage to the man. then she will be taken out of her aunt\'s will as she is the only heir to her aunt\'s estate. but unfortunately for the young girl she does not know that her husband does not want her to lose her inheritance. so he tries his hardness to scare her aunt so that when the aunt dies she will get her inheritance. but unfortunately for him his plan backfires on him. and it is called The alibi. Ms Day started her career in 1938 famously know for her roles in many movies and guest starring in many tv shows until retiring in 1973. but what Ms day is well know for her beautiful singing voice. she finally won two life time achievement awards for her acting and singing in 2009. But what alot of people may not know is that she also appeared behind the microphone in many old time radio shows. you may have heard Ms day in my first episode on Mr Bob hope. Ms Doris day was also know for her charity for animals and she opened a pet friendly hotel in the middle 70\'s after retiring. Ms Day enjoyed her retirement until passing away in 2019 at the age of 97. Even though Ms day as been gone for two years her legacy and memory well live on forever. hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy Old Time radio podcast. please welcome to the show this morning to chill our spines Ms Elspeth Eric she started her career on the Broadway stage the early 1930s until the mid 30s. she is best known for her acting abilities during the golden age of radio Starring in many roles such as lux radio theater, suspense and the inner sanctum mysteries also appeared on old time radio soap operas. she later on in her career became a writer and also star in the 1970s radio show CBS mystery theater. she enjoyed her career until retiring in the late 70s. she enjoyed her retirement until passing away in 1993. but this morning Ms Eric bring her old time radio talents to the show. in this first episode she plays a married woman who is having a nightmare about her husband killing her while she is sleeping. This is first episode I personally listened to back in 2015. it\'s called murder at midnight nightmare. in this second episode she plays yet another married woman who is having an affair with another man. so she has a plan for killing her husband. So that way she and the man can live happily ever after so she thinks. It\'s called The deadly dummy. and in this final episode She plays a woman who has married a man who she thinks he killed her sister. But the man is so much in love with her that he wants to kill her. but the roles are reserved. and it\'s called Until Death do us part. So Liz as an idea about getting a new dishwasher without George knowing about it. because appearing on a quiz show. so there friend Cory setting them up on a game show. the title of that episode is called the quiz show. and in the second episode it is called knitting baby booties. in this episode we find Georgian Liz once again at The breakfast table. well George is reading the paper Liz finds out that one of her friends is having a baby so she starts knitting a pair of baby booties. when all the sudden their friend Corey comes over and See\'s Liz knitting baby booties. so Corey tells everyone that lives in George know and it goes all the way up to George\'s boss and friend Mr adaberry. so George is so excited that he goes out and buys all kinds of stuff for the new baby. but unfortunately for George the baby is not there it is another friends baby. Mr cotton appeared in many films such as the third man hush hush sweet Charlotte portrait of Jenny and many others. but what a lot of people may not know that Mr Joseph cotten not only appeared on the big screen but also on the Broadway stage and behind the microphone appearing in many shows such as lux radio theater suspense and the Campbell\'s playhouse. you may have heard Mr cotten on my previous Christmas episode where he played in the Campbell\'s playhouse beloved Christmas story A Christmas Carol. but Mr cotton is going to be appearing in two episodes to chill our spines. in this first episode he plays the man who one day is in his living room when all the sudden he sees something in an apartment window where two old ladies live. he frightens the two women so much that they end up leaving their apartment. but towards the end he does put something in the window. and the title of that episode is called the thing in the window. and in the second episode he plays a man who ends up breaking up with his girlfriend and the two begin to get a very heated argument. where he ended up hitting her with a candlestick and then she\'s bleeding on the floor. he ends up conducting his trial he is a very famous attorney so he knows how his trial will end up and plans the perfect alibi. but towards the end The girl is fine but he ends up killing another person. and the episode is called crime without passion. Set in the Midwest, it starred Robert Young as the General Insurance agent Jim Anderson. His wife Margaret was first portrayed by June Whitley and later by Jean Vander Pyl. The Anderson children were Betty (Rhoda Williams), Bud (Ted Donaldson), and Kathy (Norma Jean Nilsson). Others in the cast were Eleanor Audley, Herb Vigran, and Sam Edwards. Sponsored through most of its run by General Foods, the series was heard Thursday evenings on NBC until March 25, 1954. On the radio program, the character of Jim differs from the later television character. The radio Jim is far more sarcastic and shows he really rules over his family. Jim also calls his children names, something common on radio but lost in the TV series. For example, Jim says, \"What a bunch of stupid children I have.\" Margaret is portrayed as a paragon of solid reason and patience, unless the plot calls for her to act a bit off; for example, in a Halloween episode, Margaret cannot understand how a table floats in the air. But that is a rare exception. Betty, on radio, is portrayed as a status-seeking, boy-crazy teenage girl. To her, every little thing is \"the worst thing that could ever happen.\" Bud, on radio, is portrayed as an \"all-American\" boy who always seems to need \"just a bit more\" money, though he gets $1.25 (nearly $14.00 in 2021) per week in allowance. Bud is in charge of always having to answer the phone, which he hates. She often is the source of money to her brother and sister, although she is in hock several years on her own allowance. you may have heard the Anderson family on my Thanksgiving episode and if you haven\'t I would recommend going back and listening to that but this evening we welcome back Mr Robert Young to the show Father knows Best. in this first episode we find the Anderson family in the middle of yet a family crisis when Jim Anderson is asking his son bud what happened to his car but trust explain it. but then Kathleen their youngest daughter starts talking about dogs then Mr Anderson asked Kathleen why this sudden interest in dogs. Kathleen tries to tell our father that she really wants a dog but Mr Anderson tells his daughter they can\'t have a dog because they\'re oldest daughter Betty is allergic to dogs. so later on the episode Mr Anderson\'s neighbor comes to the house and tells Mr Anderson how their dog has torn up to of his hybrid hibiscus. unfortunately for Mr Anderson he has to pay for the damage that the dog did. and the title of that episode is called the uncontrollable dog. and in the second episode we find the andersons once again in the middle of a crisis when the whole family is in the driveway and all the sudden Betty the oldest daughter. starts telling her father how disgusted she is with the family car and how Mr Anderson should get a new one but Mr Anderson is a very stubborn and determined man that he can fix his car cheaper than buying a new car. so the Anderson\'s one Sunday after church they enter a contest to win a new car. when the youngest girl Kathleen tells her father the wonderful news they\'re celebration is cut short when their oldest daughter Betty tells them they won ham instead of a car. and the title of that episode is called time for a car. Hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy Old Time radio podcast please welcome to the show tonight famous film actor and radio performer Mr John Lund. Mr Lund\'s first film had him as star To Each His Own  with Olivia Havilland for Paramount, in which he played dual roles. It was written and produced by Charles Brackett and was popular critically and commercially. Paramount used Lund as Betty Hutton\'s leading man in The Perils of Pauline , of another hit.He was one of many Paramount stars who made cameos in Variety Girl . Billy Wilder then cast Lund in A Foreign Affair , as romantic lead to both Marlene Dietrich and Jean Arthur. It was highly acclaimed but failed to make him a major star. He supported Edward G.Robinson in Night Has a Thousand Eyes. Brackett gave him the lead in a comedy Miss Tatlock\'s Millions. He played Alfonso I d\'Este, Duke of Ferrara in Bride of Vengeance  alongside Paulette Goddard and MacDonald Carey, following the suspension of Ray Milland the film was largely ill-received by critics. Hal Wallis used him in My Friend Irma as Al, boyfriend of Irma with Ms Marie Wilson as Irma. The film is best remembered however for introducing Martin and Lewis Jerry Lewis had meant to play the role of Al but realized he was miscast. He supported Barbara Stanwyck in No Man of Her Own and reprised his performance as Al in My Friend Irma Goes West . Paramount announced Union Station for him but William Holden ended up playing it. Lund went over to MGM to play the false love interest in Duchess of Idaho  with Esther Williams and Van Johnson. Brackett gave him another good role in The Mating Season , alongside Gene Tierney, Miriam Hopkins, and Thelma Ritter. He was Joan Fontaine\'s leading man in Darling, How Could You! . Paramount wanted to loan him to Universal for Week-End with Father but he refused and was put on suspension. but what a lot of people may not know is that Mr John one also appeared in the old time radio show Johnny Dollar until 1954. in this first episode Mr John line plays a man who is the co captain on a yacht as they are leaving Venezuela he has a very poisonous snake to halt to the United States. so he informs the passengers about it but he tells them not to worry. but unfortunately mother nature hits when a big wave moves the boat. then causes the snake to be able to get out of his cage. so he tries his best to look for the snake. and it is called a shipment of mute freight. and then this next episode he plays the man who has worked for a GM of a hotel for years now and each day at 3:00 they always sit down for coffee but unfortunately for the man instead of enjoying this experience with his boss he hates it. so he works for the hotel as the assistant manager and one day when the maids are refusing to go in the room and clean a room because of rats. he decides to go in the room and is introduced by a doctor who is conducting an experiment on the rats. so the doctor tells him about this yellow powder that is called 6r which causes the victim in slow amounts excruciating pain until they unfortunately die. so the man has an idea in order to get the job of his dreams. he has to eliminate his competition which is the GM himself. but unfortunately for the man he does not know that his boss knows what he is doing until it becomes too late. and the title of that episode is called experiment 6-r which appeared on suspense in 1949. hi guys and welcome back to mystery comedy Old Time radio podcast. please welcome back to the show Miss Marie Wilson and Kathy Lewis in the CBS comedy show my friend Irma created by Cy Howard and co-star life Erickson is Richard, John Brown is Al Hans Connery as professor Kurpopkin and Gloria Gordon as Mrs O\'Reilly. in this first episode we find the girls in their apartment discussing the double date they had last night. when Irma insulted Richard and Richard insulting Irma. so neither of the couples are speaking to each other until the girls have an idea of a makeup dinner party so they can apologize to the boys. but when they\'re next door neighbor professor kurpopkin comes over for a visit and then Mrs O\'Reilly the landlady comes over for a visit they are both lonely. so Irma has an idea of inviting the two over for dinner that night but unfortunately Jane does not like the idea because it will only cause more problems. but Irma goes anyways and the title of that episode is called double trouble. in this next episode we find the girls in their apartment as Jane is waiting by the phone for Richard to call so when Jane picks up the phone and realizes that it\'s Richard calling from Nebraska she answered the phone but instead of talking to Richard she is also talking to another person. the girls are on a party line so Jane after talking to Richard goes to the phone company to get a private line but the man tells her that he does not have any available equipment but he\'ll try to get one installed for anyways. but Irma and Al have an idea of their own if Irma can go to the phone company and say that she has a legitimate business then they could get a private phone line in their home. but Irma ends up having egg thrown in her face when she tells the man the wrong thing. so the phone company cuts their phone service off. but Al has a plan for both of them when they get back to the apartment. to full Jane they act like they\'re speaking to someone on the phone but later on Jane comes to find out that the phone is not working. and the title of that episode is called to buy or sell. welcome back to the mystery comedy Old Time radio podcast. please welcome to the show this afternoon to chill our spines and put us in dramatic pause two iconic actresses of the 20th century and the beginning stages of Hollywood Miss Joan Crawford and Miss Betty Davis in the feud. these two iconic actresses or best known for portraying in many movies such as lady in the night Jezebel sudden fear All about Eve and many others. but what a lot of people may not know is that these two iconic actresses brought the best out of each other into movies the first one in the 1962 film whatever happened to baby Jane and the 1964 film hush hush sweet Charlotte. but what people may not know that these two iconic actresses had a real life feud with each other the reason why it started was because Joan Crawford had slept with one of Betty Davis\'s long time Hollywood crushes and Betty Davis would stop at nothing to to make Joan Crawford\'s career slip through the cracks. but also guys just to let you know that two iconic actresses of our time Miss Jessica Lange and Miss Susan sarandon played Joan Crawford and Betty Davis in the 2017 FX TV series the feud and if you haven\'t seen that I would highly recommend going and seeing that first season. the next season will be coming out next year in October of 2022. but these two iconic actresses have won several awards in many nominations. but also these two iconic actresses appeared behind the microphone in such starring roles in lux radio theater suspense on screen and many others. but these two ladies bring their old time radio performances to the show today. in this first episode starring Joan Crawford she plays a woman who has married a man who is 19 years younger than she is but to her age has no difference. but her husband ends up leaving her for another woman that he\'s had an affair with and breaks their marriage up. so she goes through the house and breaks every single thing that they bought over the years of marriage and has three words that she repeats in her mind and out loud until her revenge is satisfied. it is called three lethal words. and then next episode Miss Joan Crawford plays a woman who has been living a doll\'s life throughout her childhood and in her marriage life so to keep her life intact she has to try her best to avoid ruining her husband\'s reputation in the banking industry and the title of that episode is called a doll\'s house which appeared on Lux radio theater. enemies next to episodes starring Miss Betty Davis in this first one she plays a set of twins who have gone on a trip together to purchase a boat but one of the twins falls in love and then one day tragedy strikes as one of the twins ends up dying in an accident. so the other sister blames herself and is devastated by her sister dying. but the man that one of the twins had fallen in love with ends up falling for the other twin to make her feel better and to let her know that accident was not her fault. and it is called a life stolen and it appeared on the luxe radio theater program. and in this next episode Miss Betty Davis plays a woman who has lost her family and only has friends that she goes out to eat with and they always eat at One restaurant together. but two times she tries the restaurant by herself after working a long night at her job. the first night she feels uncomfortable and leaves part of her meal. and the next time she comes back The Young cook and owner named Harry has put something in her food and ends up kidnapping her. and it is called good night Mrs Russell and it appeared on the old time radio show suspense. Ms. Ball had an amazing career in TV movies and old-time radio shows.ms balls career started in 1938 and she became an actress in a lot of different movies like too many girls with real life husband Desi arnaz, and the movie big secret which miss ball starred as a woman named Gloria with her CoStar mobster boyfriend mr. Henry Fonda. Ms Lucille Ball is most famously known as the queen of comedy and she and her real life husband Desi arnaz starred in many movies and radio shows together they were the producers and owners of the desilu production studios in Hollywood during the early 1950s as they produced the show famously known for Lucy\'s comedic performances the I Love Lucy show. Miss Ball also made her own show with her co-star from the I Love Lucy show Miss Vivian Vance they both starred in the show The Lucy show it came on in the 1960s. Miss Ball in many roles throughout her career she wasn\'t always an actress she started out as a fashion model in the late 1920s. But miss Lucille Ball is also a Kennedy honor recipient and has her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Miss Lucille Ball enjoyed having fun on and off the stage as she hosted many parties did many different gatherings with her then-husband Desi arnaz miss ball also has two children Desi arnaz jr. And Lucille arnaz. Miss ball enjoy her retirement until being rushed to the hospital complaining of chest pains from her Beverly hills mansion to the Beverly hills hospital where she had surgery and that day recovered. But unfortunately early the morning of April 26th 1989 miss ball was then rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead she passed away at the age of 77 years old. Miss ball has been gone 31 years but her legacy and her career will live on forever. Tonight Ms Ball is here to chill our spines in this episode she plays a woman named ginger who is dancehall girl and she is running down the street trying to get to work as she is running late. so she goes to the dressing room where all the other girls are and as she finishes getting dressed her boss comes in and tells her some horrible news that someone has killed her friend. so she in a detective named Nick who ends up falling in love with her embark on the mystery of the killer of the dancehall girls. but unfortunately for ginger she does not know that the killer is closer than she thinks and it is called dime a dance.
