This episode we are joined by Shikha Chauhan, a multi-talented woman. Shikha is a teacher at the MES Indian school in Qatar, a gymnast, and a dancer. She was one of the top 100 contenders on Dance India Dance, a widely popular dance show in India in which thousands of people participate. Our guest for this episode is Hissa G. Al Mannai, a successful Qatar-based filmmaker. Hissa gives us a vivid recount of her struggles growing up with undiagnosed eyesight disorder. Amidst this turbulence she narrates how she has made a name for herself in the filmmaking industry a journey she started while in high school. This episode, our guest is Ijaz Ahmed from Soghaat Bakery and Sweets - a traditional Pakistani bakery. More than three years ago, Ijaz had trouble finding Pakistani cuisine and desserts during his short trips to Qatar. And so, he set out to establish his own restaurant with authenticity and tradition at its core. Qatar in Quotes' second guest is Shahryar Rana, a medical student from Weill Cornell in Qatar. Rana shares with us his touching story of having and recovering from cancer in high school. While painful, he also demonstrates how “battling” and “surviving” cancer is not what it is made out to be; a lot of the time recovery doesn't mean fighting off diseases in a militaristic sense, but rather watching TV and just waiting. Kirimi’s story is far from perfectly heartwarming, as the courageous and inspiring young man takes us on a strenuous journey that began in the streets of Kenya, and eventually led him to Qatar.
