Y'alright? Ages ago... People were sayin' this is the definitive fan-led remastering & lost content discovery project for the legendary XFM radio show with Ricky "Play a Record" Gervais, Stephen "Man Alive" Merchant and Karl "K-Man" Pilkington, with such gems as MONKEY NEWS & EDUCATING RICKY. The trio began their pointless, mind-numbing Saturday afternoon radio show in August 2001 on XFM, a shoddy tin-pot radio station. They did 4 radio series before launching their record-breaking podcast in 2005. Enjoy remastered episodes with lost bits, and original compilations! Not Radio X or Global.

Mon, 23 Sep 2024 - 54min - 178 - KARL PILKINGTON'S NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES AS TOLD ON XFM
Karl Pilkington nearly died many times as a child. It truly is a miracle that he survived into adulthood. Karl was always prone to choking, but also could've died in a number of other embarrassing ways. Not only that... He also nearly died live on-air attempting to break the world records for hamburger stuffing and grape eating! Suffice to say, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are amazed and grateful that their little buffoonish friend, Karl Pilkington, is still alive today. ENJOY!
Mon, 09 Sep 2024 - 54min - 177 - What's DAT? That's DIGITAL AUDIO TAPE - Photo Confirmation - Part 2
POST #2 - Included are 4 more authentic photos of the Digital Audio Tapes (DATs) for The Ricky Gervais Show, which aired on London alternative radio station Xfm from 2001 to 2005. The are tapes for Series 4 Episodes 1 & 2, and Series 3 Episodes 10 & 12. However, the audio does not come from the DATs, as I don't have any of them (yet). Audio clips are included to provide context to listeners regarding the episodes that are apparently contained on these tapes. I've interpreted the tape with "2/01/2004" as Series 3 Episode 10, which would've been recorded on Saturday, 3 January 2004. Either they pre-recorded that week's episode on Friday January 2nd, or the date on the tape is wrong. This date, "2/01/2004" doesn't seem to correspond to any other episode. I'd appreciate any insight you all may have on this question. SEND COMMENTS! I'm working to obtain one or more of the DATs, if permitted (no guarantees). Please be patient as I continue to try and uncover further information on the DIGITAL AUDIO TAPES for the beloved XFM radio show featuring Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, and Karl Pilkington. Ricky Gervais is keen to hear from their dedicated listeners, Stephen Merchant would rather they not allow the unwashed masses onto the show, and Karl Pilkington just wants his little features to educate his audience.

Thu, 21 Mar 2024 - 1h 07min - 139 - S0E9 | Ricky & Steve on XFM (1998) - REMASTERED
REMASTERED & OPTIMIZED - Series 0 Episode 9 (1998) of Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant on XFM, before they met Karl Pilkington.
In remastering so-called "Series 0", my aim is to subtly improve audio quality while maintaining the generally 'rough' character of the sound. Importantly, these 9 'episodes' have attained a sort of canonical status among XFM fans, which I do not intend to change by attempting to rearrange the bits and stitch them back together in the 'proper' order. Therefore, you may notice repeated links that are not all in chronological order. The original XFM radio show hosted by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant in 1998 marked the beginning of a comedic partnership that would later evolve into the popular podcast and television series known as "The Ricky Gervais Show." Initially, the show aired from January to August 1998, every Sunday from 4–6pm, and featured a mix of music, banter, and interactive segments with the audience. This early version of the show was more conventional in its format, with Gervais and Merchant engaging with listeners through phone-ins and reading letters, setting the stage for their unique brand of humor.
The duo left XFM following the station's acquisition by the Capital Group in 1998. After the success of the first season of "The Office" (UK), which Gervais co-created with Merchant, Gervais and Merchant returned to XFM in 2001. They were joined by producer Karl Pilkington, whose offbeat musings and life stories became a central feature of the show. Pilkington's role evolved from merely "pressing the buttons" to becoming an integral part of the show, contributing his unique perspective and stories, which endeared him to the listeners. As a result, the show shifted its focus to Pilkington's anecdotes and the co-hosts' reactions, creating a cult following that endures to this day. THIS TRACK HAS BEEN OPTIMIZED FOR AUDIO.

He would then share this unreliable monkey-related drivel with his two best friends, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who, over time, became increasingly irate at Karl's evermore outlandish monkey musings. **TO BE CONTINUED** Quick CHEAP AS CHIMPS (0:00) Monkey Robber Pays Off Zookeeper (0:36) Monkey Railway Signalman (6:45) Monkey Typing Experiment (12:06) Monkey Hairdresser (16:09) Japanese Snow Monkeys (20:50) Monkeys for Sale (23:57) Monkey Doing a Web Chat - My name is Marty (24:42) Monkey #86 Drives to Spain (27:56) Karl the Little Red Monkey (33:36) Monkeys Catching on to Coverage (34:14) Monkey World 1 (34:29) Little Asian Monkey with Pointiest Eyes (35:21) Another Monkey Marriage (39:12) Monkey World 2 (41:38) Homeless Monkey Arrested in Russia (42:25) Monkeys in Tracksuits 'n That (47:12) Monkey Spotted Holidaying in Cornwall (47:53) Monkey World 3 - Disappointment (48:44) Chimp Tried it on with Man's Wife (50:29) "Monkey Business" - Monkeys from the Rough Bit of the Island (53:24) Monkey News Saved by Overwhelming Listener Support (56:54) Spa for Monkeys Run by Couple of Chimps (57:28)

PART 6 (of 6) & FINAL installment of Karl Pilkington's ROCKBUSTERS (a cheap knockoff of Blockbusters). Not only was this one of Karl's longest running features (along with Monkey News), but it was also voted by fans as his greatest XFM feature of all time: https://x.com/rskxfm/status/1714711967305269595?s=20. Karl Pilkington gives a cryptic clue (it's usually nonsense) and the initials of a famous band or artist (he sometimes gets the initials wrong), and listeners either call, or as the feature developed (unless they were experiencing technical difficulties), email in their answers. The winner gets an arbitrary assortment of tat, often including a pointless DVD seemingly chosen at random from the bargain bucket. Fans will recall Stephen Merchant announcing such great prizes as Ladder 49 (the mediocre John Travolta film), or Children of the Corn (Peter Horton's in it). Ricky Gervais once mused: "Imagine getting that and going 'Excellent, we can watch this now!'" PART 6 ends with Steve in a state of total astonishment after Karl's penultimate Rockbuster, Kasabian: "What?! That's one of your worst, that... That's terrible." And in response to Karl's final Rockbuster, Donna Summer, Steve is utterly stupefied: "Man alive, that was shocking." **THE END** Keane (0:00) Courtney Love (11:44) Yoko Ono (19:28) Amy Winehouse (26:38) Nick Drake & The Ramones (34:51) Kasabian & Donna Summer (38:31)

Thu, 19 Oct 2023 - 1h 09min - 102 - SONGS OF PHRASE BY KARL PILKINGTON
Compilation of ALL of Karl Pilkington's SONGS OF PHRASE feature, for which Karl combines pieces of songs to re-enact "popular" sayings from the show. Originally, Karl called the feature, CROSSWORDS, because he got words and sort of crossed 'em and that... The name changed to SONGS OF PHRASE in response to a fan's suggestion. Listeners try to guess all of the songs that the well-known phrase is composed of. The phrases were mostly derogatory drivel to begin with, but somehow, the feature devolved over time into even more offensive gibberish. Ricky Gervais had this to say: "This is a desperate feature, innit?" To which, Stephen Merchant responded: "It really is awful." Truly one of Karl's most shambolic features.
