Pinedrops' style ranges from ambient, to house, garage, UK bass, electro, techno, and the faster break-inspired genres. Starlight Thursdays Episode 238 Featuring a live recording of Born aGreen. My first set at a club and I couldn't be happier that it was at Monk's. I've been a part of so many great events here and now I get to be the DJ. I hit record a few minutes late but I got most of it. It's not perfect but I had a lot of fun and I'm happy with the set overall. Thanks for listening. -Born aGreen-

Thu, 31 Oct 2024 - 1h 07min - 237 - Ep 236 - BK Love - live @ Funky Town, Burning Man 2024 - Starlight Thursdays Episode 236
Starlight Thursdays Episode 236 Featuring BK Love recorded live at Funky Town, Burning Man 2024. What an Honer it is to DJ at such an amazing camp. Funky Town has gone above and beyond, building a massive sound camp with major upgrades unique to this year’s burn. The sound system was next level and as always the placement at the edge of the city facing the open dessert is truly awe inspiring. I chose a selection of music from all over the world, blending house with melodic techno and focusing on beautiful instruments and vocals. This mix brings me right back to that unforgettable moment where I got lost in the music and nothing else mattered. BK Love

Fri, 18 Oct 2024 - 1h 52min - 235 - Ep 234 - Dojous - Live @ FunkyTown, Burning Man 2024 - Starlight Thursdays Episode 234
Starlight Thursdays Episode 234 welcome Dojous to the series with his live recording form Burning Man 2024 at camp Funky Town. How long have you been DJing? About 2 years. Why did you get into it? Was always a behind the scenes guy and so many respected friends are so darn good at it I finally had to give it a try. What events have you played? This year at the Burn was my first event I officially had a set at. I usually hop on with friends at Funk Your Burn or other house parties in Helena and Missoula to get some reps. This is the first time I actually curated a set from scratch and put it all together and played it etc. Where do you live (generally)? Bozeman, MT Where are you from originally? Los Angeles, CA What inspires you to DJ? The desire to have more things in common with my friends. The challenge of learning something new and difficult and so rewarding. The love and importance of live music at parties with my friends What inspires you about electronic music culture? Creating platforms for other artists to grow as well as supporting my friends who are artists. What genres are in your mix? Ambient, Indie-Dance, Deep House, Electronica, Melodic House & Techno, Downtempo Can you tell us a little bit about this mix? Wanted to really play some songs and styles I enjoy that would go well with the chill vibes of Monday night at Burning Man. Lower bpm, more ethereal and dreamy, almost emo electronica to let everyones ears rest up for the sonic onslaught that they were about to endure…Wasn’t expecting a party or crowd so went with some more downtempo music to ease everyone into the week and play some stuff I rarely hear at FunkyTown. After a hellacious build was also perfect for the mood of most of our campers as we were all already tired from days of building and camping out in the desert. Huge thanks to BK for actually recording this set. Had no idea it would be recorded and it's been one of the best gifts to actually listen to it back again. I was so tired the night I played it I barely even remember the experience but this really helps! -Dojous- For more Dojous check out https://soundcloud.com/dojous

This was such an unforgettable moment of my burn. Unitopia did a fantastic job putting together a glow party and it was such an honor to get to DJ. So many of my friend made it out and danced with me while I mixed some of my favorite tracks from around the world. -BK Love-

Starlight Thursdays Episode 231. When young PricRight is accidentally left behind while his family heads off on vacation, he seizes the opportunity to turn his home into the ultimate dance party. Instead of setting up traps for burglars, he rigs his DJ gear and speakers, blasting catchy beats that echo through the house. As two bumbling burglars try to break in, they’re met with an unexpected rave that distracts them at every turn. With every track, PricRight keeps the energy high, using his dance moves to outsmart the thieves and keep the party going. Can he protect the house and keep the vibes alive, all while learning the value of family? You’ll have to tune in to find out more. Let the beats drop and the fun begin!

Fri, 13 Sep 2024 - 1h 00min - 230 - Ep 229 - LVCKY13 - Drum and Bass Mix - Starlight Thursdays Episode 229
Episode 229 Welcome LVCKY 13 to the series with this fire Drum and Bass mix. Let’s take a closer look into LVCKY 13 How long have you been DJing? * 2 Years Why did you get into it? * Inadvertently via production. I was a techy kid growing up. I liked building and tinkering with electronics. I liked building computers, gaming, scripting, etc. Got into some robotics/programming in high school. I studied Electrical and Computer Engineering in college. It’s all rather cumulative. I just had a DAW and liked messing around, creating sounds, mini songs, mini mixes (like big booty type stuff), etc during COVID. I then met my current significant other Caitlyn, and she introduced me to the world of festivals, raving, and DJ’s. I was really only exposed to one side of the bigger picture. I loved the music these people made, the sounds they came up with, studios they worked in, gear they used etc. I wasn’t a raver. There wasn’t a scene like that where i came from and where I grew up. So the raves and festivals and stuff was all super foreign, but once I saw the other half of the puzzle, I was like “Damn, this is pretty Rad” What events have you played? * Everland Music Festival * The Underground at Club Zebra Where do you live (generally)? * Bozeman, MT Where are you from originally? * Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania What inspires you about electronic music culture? * It transcends language (like 85% of the time haha). But you and I don’t have to speak the same language to dance to a beat at the same rhythm which each other. I love that we can share an experience simultaneously with someone and speak no words, but be fully on the same wavelength together. It’s pretty neat. I’m an audiofile too so hearing the best crafted tunes on the best quality speaker systems is super enjoyable. I also like to think the pillars and foundations of the EDM community are pretty cool because it seems people actively try to be outwardly kind and considerate to each other which promotes a good place for people to come hang and enjoy the music. What genres are in your mix? * Drum and Bass (Dancefloor, Neurofunk, Darkstep, Jump-Up) Can you tell us a little bit about your mix? * This is a through and through Drum and Bass mix. 174 from start to finish. I’ve seen the shift in sets and energy over the past couple years in DJ sets and I really have been excited seeing DnB grow within the U.S Scene. Artists dropping big time edits in sets, collabs across genres with artists, and even just tours/availability for big shows. This set is my take on just a few of the best tracks mixed with some of my personal faves. It’s littered with classics old and new, edits and flips from artists big and small on soundcloud, and even a couple of my own tracks in there. I love the energy and pace DnB has, and it has such a rich extensive history to the music and breaks/beats that form it. I wanted to play a fun set highlighting the essence of DnB and what I think the Genre is and how it’s intended to be spun. Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy the set 🙂 For more LVCKY 13 check out Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/lvcky13 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/7kLFUwqZfp5CPPoEZ8BUln?si=mCnGE3J6Rde-cG7glaD_5Q

- 227 - Ep 226 - SPACE CHUNK - Sunny Liquid Funk Live @Everland - Starlight Thursdays Episode 226
Starlight Thursdays Episode 226 featuring SPACE CHUNK in this live recording from his afternoon set at Everland Music Festival 2024. This was my first time playing at Falcons Roost and it was the first Everland event so I really wasn't sure what to expect coming into it. I was scheduled to play a set at 2pm and 2am and was really excited to lean into the contrast between those set times. I planned out a late night set that was pretty high energy and heavy, so I wanted to take the opportunity to play some chiller funky stuff for the afternoon. To be honest I was a little worried what I wanted to play would be TOO chill, I'm sure we've all been to those events where it's dubstep heaters from 11am onwards and while I love that energy a chill liquid dnb set right in the middle of that would be pretty clunky. Everland was an absolute vibe though and I felt like I had total freedom in what I got to play. Something about camping out in the woods and playing in a mountain meadow really opens up the music possibilities - I heard a huge range of sounds from all the DJs that weekend, so big ups Everland/Starlight crew for facilitating that. Also as a DnB artist I love being at a house/techno forward event, I think it inspires a certain style of mixing where you can really play out a song. Anyways, I tried to capture a bit of that energy in my set. Basically I came in without much of a plan and just played out my favorite liquid funk tracks. Hope you enjoy! -SPACE CHUCK-
Thu, 08 Aug 2024 - 59min - 226 - EP 225 - Art Van Delay - A mix about nothing - Starlight Thursdays Episode 225
Starlight Thursdays Episode 225. We’re thrilled to Import Art Van Delay’s export to the series. He’s recently moved to Montana from Las Vegas, Not that there’s anything wrong with that… And people need to know the truth,so apparently we’re doing an interview. How long have you been DJing? My entire life Nobody is going to be leave that. I mean what are you gonna say when someone asks why you decided to be a DJ? Well, let me tell you, it's not like I woke up one day and said, "Hey, Art, you know what would be great? Standing in front of a bunch of people and pretending to be cooler than you actually are." No, no. It started out small. I was always that guy who made the mixtapes for road trips, you know? Friends would say, "Art, you have impeccable taste in music," and I'd think, "Yeah, I do, don’t I?" Then, one thing led to another. Someone at a party handed me the auxiliary cord. Hold on an Auxiliary cord Come on George. ART its ART! We Gotta Stick To The Story!!!! I’m getting angry!!! Yes, Jerry an Auxiliary cord and boom, I was in control. It was like being the maestro of social interaction. People danced! They actually danced because of me! I thought, "Art, you've found your calling. You're not just a guy who lives with his parents; you're a master of ceremonies, a purveyor of beats, a DJ!" So, here I am, spinnin records, making people move, and thinking, "Maybe this is what you were meant to do all along." It’s a delicate balance, like a TV episode—awkward, hilarious, but somehow it just works. Gorge, I mean Art, A maser of ceremonies? But you are a guy who lives with his parents. I mean where have you even been DJing? We’llllll Jerrrry it just so happens I’ve been DJing at Soup nazi’s beats & eats, Festivus fest, Serenity Now! Campout, Electric Kramer Carnival and Crystal Mountain 2024 Art at least half of those festivals you made up. What if someone looks into this. There going to know… Nobody looks into this stuff it happens all the time Jerry. These days DJs just make up social media pages with a bunch of photos with hot women and boom next thing you know off to Spain in a privet jet. I don’t think that’s how it works George. ART! So you mean to tell me people are supposed to believe you’re originally from Detroit, you DJ festivals under the name Art Van Delay and what are you going to tell them when they ask what inspired you to do that? Inspiration? HA! Let me tell you about inspiration. You know that feeling when you find the perfect parking spot right in front of your building? That’s what DJing is like for me. It’s a moment of pure, unadulterated victory. So Art, what’s the deal with this electronic music culture stuff anyway, I mean it’s music and its culture, I just don’t understand? Okay Jerry, It's all about the freedom, the energy, and sheer unpredictability. First off, the people. You've got all these folks from different walks of life, coming together in this crazy, pulsating environment. It's like a big, dysfunctional family reunion, but with better music and less judgment. You look around, and everyone’s just there to have a good time, to escape the mundane, to dance like Elaine without anyone caring. Then, there's the music itself. It's like this endless buffet of sounds and beats. You never know what you’re gonna get, but somehow it all works. It's like the electronic music gods decided, "Hey, let’s throw a little bit of this, a little bit of that," Yada Yada and boom! You've got a masterpiece. It’s chaotic, it’s beautiful, it’s… well, it’s life Jerry And the technology! The gear, the lights, the visuals—it's like living in the future. Who wouldn't be inspired by that? So, yeah, electronic music culture inspires me because it’s a wild, unpredictable ride, just like a day in my life. It's about finding those moments of joy and letting loose, and in the end, isn't that what we’re all looking for? For More Art Van Delay check out https://soundcloud.com/djartvandelay

Thu, 01 Aug 2024 - 43min - 224 - Ep 223 - Nes Croft - Montopia Aire live recording - Starlight Thursdays Episode 223
Starlight Thursdays Episode 223 Featuring a live recording of Nes Croft at Montopia. I played 4 improvised sets at Montopia. Each set got better and this one was my favorite. I used Beat DJ. The software I built for live improvisation. Each time I play I’m brainstorming for what new features I need for Beat DJ. Before this set I added a new feature to schedule sound deletions. I think that helped me sustain a nice flow. I was inspired by the sunrise set that Jason and his friends played at the Aire stage the day before. I started with that chill feeling and slowly progressed into faster rhythms. I’ve noticed my mental state significantly affects the quality of the music. Their good vibes definitely rubbed off on me! Overall I’m happy with how this set turned out. But still I feel like I’m at around 30% of the potential for what will become possible with Beat DJ. My goal to pursue music has shifted more into software development and helping other artists reach their full potential. If you want to try Beat DJ you can download it here https://www.soniare.net/beatdj?f=sc_aire And just shoot me an email if you want a demo of how it works! nes@soniare.net Thank you for listening!

Fri, 07 Jun 2024 - 59min - 216 - Ep 215 - Mr Matthew - Road trip to Funkyville - Starlight Thursdays Episode 215
Starlight Thursdays Episode 215 Welcome Mr Matthew to the series! Originally from northern Georgia he made the move to Montana around 10 years ago. After going to a small house party entertained by a dj he fell in love with mixing and knew what he wanted to get into. His passion for this culture and our community stood out to me. I invited him to join the Starlight Reunion admin team shortly after we got to know each other. He has so much ambition to not only throw parties but inspire safe spaces to let loose in. I’m beyond overjoyed to share this recording of his. Not only is it the first in our series, but it’s also the first recording he’s made public. You may have heard him play at Bassmonsters , FC5, Montambhla/CMMF and the club nights at the Zebra and Monks. If not you’ll have the chance to catch him live at Montopia or his passion project Everland. He’s gone above and beyond booking shows for our resident artists and community. This summer is looking absolutely stacked and we owe a bunch of that to Mr Matthew. -BK Love- DJing and dance parties are very therapeutic to me. It’s how I managed getting through my divorce. It led me to my true soulmate. Knowing the connections that are being made and the happiness being spread while I play is so rewarding and fulfilling. I love being part of the SR fam and what we represent. Super excited to see where we are in 5 years as a whole. There is so much going on in the group! I couldnt be more proud of all the folks that are a part of our crew! It’s been busy times for our group, proud to see it coming together. Starlight is really helping expand my music opportunities and skill set and im truly grateful. Fri, 31 May 2024 - 1h 01min - 215 - Ep214 - BK Love - Live@Building Wo-Man - Starlight Thursdays Episode 214
Starlight Thursdays Episode 214 featuring a live recording from BK Love's recent visit to Building Wo-Man at the Jenkstar Ranch in the deep deserts of Utah. This was my first time checking out the burner rave scene in Utah. I’ve been hearing about the legendary desert raves out there for over decade and had yet to experience it for myself. It was like i stumbled across an encampment of burners that broke down on the voyage home from the big burn and just decided to stay. Art cars and big sound systems surround by canyon cliffs and painted dunes adorned with big permenent sculptures, domes and wooden buildings seemingly put together from piles of junk and found objects. It was fucking perfect. I felt fortunate to make some new friends with a sound system and love for House and Techno. They called themselves Dirt camp. After dancing from one party to another they invited me to play a daytime set at their bus. We busted a move on the dirt floor in the sunshine and couldn’t be happier. Hope you guys enjoy this mix as much as we did! Love y’all - BK Love -

Thu, 02 May 2024 - 54min - 211 - Ep 210 - GETDOWN - Live@ 30/40 Party Senvion - Starlight Thursdays Episode 210
Starlight Thursdays Episode 210 Featuring a live recording from GETDOWN, Mixed in The Senvion celebrating BK Love and PRICERIGHT’s birthdays. It’s always special when we get our art collective together and dance the night away. This mix is a testament to these moments we cherish so much. I met GETDOWN on my birthday in 2017. When he arrived I was behind the decks mixing for a small group of close friends. He said something like “would it be okay if I played a few tracks?” I was like “dude I’m the only dj here. It would be amazing to bust a move! Play as many as you want!” He ripped it up playing from my collection and on gear he’d never even seen before. It was one of the best birthday gifts ever. Starlight Reunion wasn’t even a year old at the time. I had so much to learn and GETDOWN was right there doing his best to teach me what he knew about the local scene, gas generators and sound systems. He was a pretty pivotal part of getting things up and going as well as giving me the confidence to lead the gatherings. Although some of you don’t really know him in this capacity, he continues to be a voice of reason behind the scenes when things get a bit wild. His drive for this culture and community seems to only be growing in the best direction as he continues to build stages and provide space for these experiences. It was so amazing to get to bust a move to his set on my birthday again. Hope y’all enjoy it as much as I did. -BK Love- cover photo - GETDOWN DJing the first Forest Creatures

Fri, 12 Apr 2024 - 1h 00min - 208 - Ep 207- MumbleBee x Pandaura Live@ Retro Futurisma NYE 24- Starlight Thursdays Episode 207
Starlight Thursdays Episode Episode 207 featuring MumbleBee TSB2DJsWaLB2BI Pandaura (that's a new slang that/acronym which means transitioning smoothly between 2 djs with a little b2b inbetween) Commonly shortened to "-->" last year MumbleBee and Pandaura played a lot together, including two new years ago, so I couldn't imagine a better way to end the year and to kick off what was ultimately an amazing party. Conversation between MumbleBee and pandaura. Going b2b with you feels so natural, Pandaura. “Yes I agree MumbleBee!” “Now that I think about, we played b2b at least a little bit, and sometimes for like 6 hours, at every event I even DJed last year lol”. “Wow damn you're right! From bar balconies to burning man! And every missoula basement inbetween!” This mix is filled with fantastic beats that hop from house to drum and bass. Starting with MumbleBee then moving to a b2b session with Pandaura before he took it to the end. It’s always special when we remember to hit record and capture the moment sonically. This one brings me right back to this magic moment when we stood on the edge of 2023 knowing there’d be something new on the horizon for us all.

Thu, 21 Mar 2024 - 1h 08min - 205 - Ep 204 - BeKBee - Live@ Buuts Ha Cenote Tulum (BKLove B2Bw/MumbleBee-Starlight Thursdays Episode 204
Starlight Thursdays Episode 204 featuring BeKBee. The combination of BK Love back to back with MumbleBee. This mix was recorded live in Tulum Mexico at Buuts Ha Cenote Club. This was my first time traveling in a group of friends. 7 of our Starlight Reunion collective rallied to the call to head south. Katie C and I explored Tulum the year prior. We started off at a jungle rave put together by a Burning Man Camp that went well past sunrise. It was located at a Cenote (a natural pit, or sinkhole filled with fresh water) surrounded by dense forest. The following night we found ourselves at a beach club that looked like a massive teepee, with large concrete sculptures of human hands at its perimeter. That same night we ended up in the city center at a rooftop club and kept dancing. I had the realization that there were three or four different kinds of places DJed parties were taking place in Tulum. The Cenotes, the beach and city center, jungle too but cenotes are in the jungle anyway so I don’t know. I started calling it the Tulum dance party trifecta and felt like it’s probably a thing already. My intrigue with Mexico’s dance capital has been persistent. I did my best to inspire some of my friends who I thought would appreciate the unique complexity of this place. I felt it would be a good experience for us to get out of the country and explore art. After a few days of touring around as a crew we began to get acclimated. We started making new friends with the same love for music and dancing we have. I was pretty sure we had to do the Tulum Dance Party Trifecta! I certainly didn’t think we’d get to DJ it, nor was it my intention to figure out how. The universe works in crazy fucking ways. With the help of the new friends we made, more than what we imagined came to be. There’s no way I can explain it all here. I’m still trying to fully comprehend it. I can say this much though. To me this mix is a testament to what is possible when we put ourselves out there and are open to sharing with one another. We took a trip not really knowing what to expect or if we packed all the right things. Not only seeking sun mid winter, but looking for an experience. We didn’t travel all that way to make it all about us and our desires or needs. We took a moment out of our lives to connect with people, to share our curiosity for one another and learn each other’s ways and rhythms. - BK Love -

Get ready for a roller coaster of BPM! “Just been really into techno the last few months. I don’t feel like I really can stick to a style for to long. This is a fun mix of some new songs I’ve downloaded recently. It’s rough in some areas but just a fun time. When I play dance music I go for a silly atmosphere that fits my taste and adding some unexpected moments. I’m throwing a dirty 30 party at the zebra club in Bozeman March 27th with some friends. Starlight Thursdays Episode 202 Welcome Madam Bliss to the series! With over 18 years of DJing she’s enjoyed entertaining dance floors at music festivals such as Emissions, Burning Man, Nights of Fire, Rock the Resort, Crystal Mountain and many, many more. This artist, remixer, producer and DJ thrives off the edm bass music scene. She is known to mix all different types of Bass music together to form her own unique sound. Her roots are breakbeats, house, jungle and hip hop. She grew up as a house dancer turned breakdancer who was compelled by the beat. Her roots also run deep with Reggae and dancehall. Over the years a deep love for Dubstep, Drum and Bass and Trap Music formed. Anything Bass heavy and soulful that evokes good feelings is her kind of style. She has released a bunch of tracks. Her work has appeared on We Got This Music, Street Ritual, Shadowtrix, BKoast, Pinecone Moonshine and other labels. . She has been playing guitar and keys since childhood. If your lucky you may even catch her doing one of her breakdance performances in between mixing and scratching! Let’s take a closer look in a little interview with Madam Bliss. Why did you get into DJing and music production? I love to dance and I'm addicted to good beats. Where do you currently live? Whitefish, Montana. Is that where you’re from originally? No, Media, Pennsylvania(outside of Philadelphia). What inspires you to DJ? Heavy and feel good bass vibrations with soothing intricate and dance worthy sounds. What inspires you about electronic music culture? It inspires me in all aspects of life. I love the feeling when there is a big group of people that come together to share the love of a certain type of music. I love meeting awesome people and working with them on new music or dance moves. It inspires me to be more creative and to move my body in new ways. The energy in electronic music really matches my personality and it inspires me to go further in life. What genres are in your mix? Rooted Dubstep, Bass music, Baltimore Club, Trap, reggae. Can you tell us a little bit about it? This mix was deeply inspired by rooted dubstep and bass music. My 2 favorite genres of music. Now that I live here in Montana in the mountains, it has given me the clarity to really dive into what moves me as an artist and DJ. One of my favorite eras of DJing is when I spun dubstep back in 2009. I made an all vinyl mix called DuBlissious with my favorite hand picked records. Still one of my favorite mixes. This is a continuation of that mix, I even reinvented some of the mixes from the first edition. This mix has a lot of melodic feels with deep bass lines delivered in the most beautiful of transitions. I took old school rooted dubstep and mixed it with more present day basslines, keeping it locked around 140bpm. I carried reggae sounding beats throughout. The beauty of these tunes have put me in a trance when I listen back to this mix, really taking the listener on a journey. This mix includes some of my most favorite 140bpm tunes I’ve produced myself as well as brand new production that I have yet to release. It also includes some of my favorite tunes that really moved me by other amazing producers. Who are some of the artists in your mix? Cimm, Shlump, Nahlith, Oz, Hamdi, Rakjay, Substrada, Vaski, The Maker, Eva808, Wildabeast, 6Blocc, Madam Bliss, Headland, Merricat Black, Skinny Limbs, G-space, Subscape, Matty G, Tiedye Ky, Pipus, Tsou, Kursa, Hexed X Labs, Chief Kaya, Synkro, MRK1, DJ Sliink, Scuba, M!ngo. We’re so glad you shared this mix with us. This one is a special addition to the series and overall fire set. Anything else you want us to know? I want you to know that you are amazing for giving DJs and producers in Montana the chance to share their music with like minded people. I truly appreciate you and your crew!!! Starlight Thursdays Episode 201 welcome Pinedrops to the series! How long have you been DJing? Since the summer of ‘23 Why did you get into it? I got into DJing because I wanted to use it as a conduit to release and play my own tracks, as well as to inspire and encourage a positive and healthy club culture in my community. What events have you played? I have played a couple of house parties, and two shows on stage as a solo performance. Where do you live? Missoula Where are you from originally? Grew up outside of Detroit, Michigan, and ended up in Montana after 3 years in Oregon. What inspires you to DJ? I’d say that getting people moving and dancing can bring people together, with the side effect of introducing them to new music and genres that they previously hadn’t considered. What inspires you about electronic music culture? Electronic music, the way that I see it, is not only about dance, but is a way for artists to truly express themselves, and free themselves from the rigid boundaries set by the music industry at large. I think that electronic music culture is filled with various artists and followers who want to truly express themselves and encourage the gathering of people in communities, which is something that I’m all about. What genres are in your mix? House, UK Bass, Drum & Bass Can you tell us a labout your mix? I’d say this mix encompasses the genres that I’m interested in at this moment in time. Fri, 23 Feb 2024 - 1h 41min - 201 - EP 200 - MumbleBee Live @ The Senvion (EP Release) - Starlight Thursdays Episode 200
Starlight Thursdays Episode 200!!we have a very special recoding to share for this milestone. Our resident artist MumbleBee recently released their first ep. We featured them in an album release party and hit record as they preformed their first “all original set” composed from tracks on their ep as well as unreleased music they recently produced. It’s been amazing having MumbleBee join our art collective and we couldn’t be more proud to showcase their talent and art. They have been behind the Dj decks since 2020 and have performed in a multitude of settings, from Missoula pride to Anaconda Pride, Mountain tops and Bars, Rock quarries, Forests down to Basements like The Senvion where this was recorded. Originally from Kalamazoo Michigan they fell in love with Burner culture and electronic music. After moving to Missoula we quickly adopted them into our art collective, community and family. Let’s take a closer look into the deep complexities that are MumbleBee. How long have you been Producing: - in a DAW? Maybe a year and a half. In general? My entire life ;3 Why did you get into it? I enjoy the manipulation of sounds, and the tactile response feeling of a mixing board. Being the center of attention every now and again is nice too. :p [Producing] I went into this EP curious about sound - what it is, how it works, what do all the little acronyms mean? - I finished this EP with more questions than answers - and a curiosity that has evolved since into fascination. What inspires you? It can be anything -- a color, an emotion, places I visit, people, my friends, etc. Machines, socialist machines, machine/human cooperation Please tell us a little bit about this recording? This is my EP, Kindergarten, a few months post release, and other works I have completed or partially completed since then. All of the songs within are made from my hands, filled with the love and encouragement from my family and friends. Fri, 16 Feb 2024 - 53min - 200 - Ep 199 - SPACE CHUNK - Andromeda DnB Mixtape - Starlight Thursdays Episode 199
Starlight Thursdays Episode 199. Welcome SPACE CHUNK to the series! He’s been behind the booth for the past 9 years. You may have had the pleasure of hearing him play at Forest Creatures 6, a few open decks and house parties around Bozeman. Let’s take a closer look into the world of SPACE CHUNK Why did you get into it? Growing up in Minneapolis I was a midwest hip hop head and was introduced to the turntablist/beats side of DJing. Artists like DJ Abilities and Ant were big inspirations with a focus on sample based mixing and scratching on top of drum loops. When I moved to Bozeman in 2013 I got introduced to bass music by taking road trips up to Missoula to see a show and then driving back to Bozeman before class started the next day. At the time we really didn't know what we were doing but we were seeing these insane artists like Excision, Pretty Lights, Zeds Dead, and Odesza in venues like the Wilma and Tophat. After one of those shows I remember my friends and I downloading a cracked version of Ableton and started making mix tapes as a way to share music. Learning the basics of Ableton opened the door to producing and I eventually got into making my own tracks. Following those artists we saw at the Wilma; I ended up attending Shambhala 2015 for my first camping music festival, which gave me an introduction to festival culture and dance focused DJing. After my first Shambhala I bought my first DJ controller and ever since then DJing and producing have been my main creative outlets. What inspires you about electronic music? From an artistic standpoint I love the act of combining sounds to make something new. Like a classic liquid track might make me feel nostalgic and a modern tech-step track might make me feel groovy. What happens when I play them back to back, or double drop them together? I might end up with some new sound more complex than either song by itself. I think every sound has the ability to trigger a memory or idea, and I really try to lean into that when mixing songs together. What inspires you about electronic music culture? I love the insane amount of effort and creativity that goes into every event. From the organizers to the attendees, everyone is always giving it 100%. Also the culture of extreme acceptance is awesome. Tell us about your mix? I start it off with my newest original remix, and then dive into a compilation of the floatiest DnB songs I've been able to find over the last year or so. I have a process where I'll freestyle a quick mix and then listen to the mix on a bike, ski, or drive making note on what tracks and combos fit the vibe of what I'm doing. This mix is sort of the "best of" from all those mixes and is my best interpretation of road tripping and recreating around Western Montana. Lots of funk, soul, and hip hop influence, with a backbone of DnB rollers and deep bass. Inspired by Diesel Boy, DownLink, and Alan Flava. Fri, 09 Feb 2024 - 1h 01min - 199 - Ep 198 - DJ slacks - As Above So Below - Starlight Thursdays Episode 198
Starlight Thursdays Episode 198 DJ Slacks is back with a beautiful deep house mix. Filled with groves, funky beats and all together smooth How long have you been DJing? 5 years this year!! Why did you get into it? There is nothing better than playing a show with your friends and watching the crowd move. Missoula keeps me doing it. What events have you played? Summer Roller Boogies, Monks Bar, Badlander,The Furnace, The sidewalk outside the Wilma, Daisychain Events, Funk of July, Suite Two Where are you from? Los Angeles, CA What genres are in this mix? Techno, House, Afrohouse, Electronica Can you tell us a bit about your mix? I made this mix New Years Day, as soon as I got home from celebrating another journey around the calendar. I wasn’t ready to sleep as I wanted to watch the sunrise and reflect on 2023. I thought about the ups and downs, highs and lows. I thought about how grateful I was for the community surrounding me. It sounds silly but I imagined myself as a bowling ball, being bounced back and forth off the bumpers as I slowly rolled down the lane. Lots of ups, lots of downs, lots of side to side. But I never hit the gutter.. I think this mix reflects 2023 for me in that way. Lots of ups and downs, happy times, sad times, with introspective bumpers in between to keep you in a forward motion towards the pins. Hitting all pins isnt the goal…you can hit the gutter and the ball comes right back to you, ready for you to roll down the lane again and give it your best. Thu, 04 Jan 2024 - 56min - 194 - Ep 193 - kaPOWski - Rando Saturday - Starlight Thursdays Episode 193
Starlight Thursdays Episode 193 welcome kaPOWski to the series!! They pack quite the punch both as a DJ and as a artist. If you had the pleasure of experiencing the Psychedelic Cabin at Forest Creatures 5 then you’ve had a taste, as they were the lead behind that amazing camp. Let’s take a closer look into kaPOWski. How long have you been DJing? I got into this during the pandemic, after years of making playlists and collecting music. Where do you live? Bozeman, MT Where are you from originally? Portland, OR Why did you get into it? I have a traditional music background and work professionally in the event production field, so I already spend a lot of time in the areas where music and community and party overlap. I met a new friend at a small private festival who volunteered to teach me how to use the software and equipment, and I was HOOKED! What events have you played? I played several sets at Burning Man in 2022 and 2023, as well as playing at some smaller regional burn events. I love playing private/community parties. And I just played at the Rialto in Bozeman in December. What inspires you to DJ? Being the beating heart of a party and a vibe. Not in a way that is driven by ego - honestly if I completely blend into the background of an excellent experience for others, I’ve done it right. What genres are in your mix? House and disco are my heart home. Techno is my sexy lover. Breakbeat is the cool kid that I’m still getting up the nerve to talk to. Can you tell us about your mix? This was a fun practice sesh I did at home that I just happened to hit record on, and it gelled together in a beautiful way - I feel like this is a pretty succinct representation of my DJ viewpoint. - 192 - Ep 191 - DJ Reed - Yung Felix - Starlight Thursdays Episode 191
Starlight Thursdays Episode 191 f Welcome DJ Reed to the series. How long have you been DJing? I started to pick it up in college in 2015, and started to take it more seriously around 2016/2017, so around 7 years earnestly. Why did you get into it? Got into it as I lived in a party house with two other guys that liked to mess around & were maybe a year into learning how to DJ, they showed me what they knew & pretty soon I was hooked. Around that time i was just getting into festivals & was promoting local raves in Portland, OR. I used to hang out with a crew based out of Olympia Washington that would put on renegade events in the forests in between Olympia & Portland. I got to play for two hours at one of those campout quarry parties & immediately knew it was something I wanted to pursue more. After that I played a lot of house parties/college bars, and kept at it when I moved to Missoula. What events have you played? In Missoula I’ve played extensively at the Badlander/Monks/VFW along with a handful of opening gigs for touring artists (SkiiTour, Polish Ambassador, etc) & several local electronic showcases at the Top Hat. I’ve played at boutique festivals (Jammin in the Gulch, Womple Blossom, etc). Beyond that, I’ve played Missoula staples (Disco Bloodbath, events in Caras park, Socotra after parties) and I put on a handful of outdoor parties every summer in Missoula & surrounding areas with my good friends under the name AlpenGlow Social Club, and have played at quite a few renegade events in OR/WA/MT/CA over the last 7 years (never Forest Creatures). I am very tight with the Royale crew & played a handful of shows for them back in the day as well. Currently I’m working on a new residency at a bar project in Missoula that should open by next year. Where are you from? Missoula Montana! What inspires you? The feeling you get on the dancefloor where everything else falls away & you’re just focused on the music and dancing! To me it's very meditative & healing to get down with your friends, and the communities I've met through music festivals/underground parties are some of the kindest friends I know. What genres are in your mix? Disco, Tech House, Bass House, Progressive House. A few words about your mix? This is an exploration of contemporary house music. Who are some of the artists in your mix? Eli Brown, Kyle Watson, Joshwa, Eden Prince, John Summit, Salvatore Ganacci, Renato Cohen, LPZ, etc. Link to your sound cloud or other? https://on.soundcloud.com/hwZzFHXB1a1eGHsf8

Starlight Thursdays Episode 189 featuring GRIMYDIMND. “This was a first run through of ideas for an upcoming DNB night our friend Mumblebee is putting together. Suite two is a dope little art space so if you’re in the Missoula area December 8th check it out! DNB is one of my favorites because how fun genre blending can be with it. This recording was just seeing what direction I wanted to go for the evening. It mostly includes DNB, halftime, jungle, and left field bass. The variety in this recording was really fun to mix. It has edits of hip hop, indie pop, some feels, and pretty sure Russian opera metal?” -GRIMYDIMND-
Thu, 30 Nov 2023 - 1h 00min - 189 - Ep 188 - PARRIS - House Mix - Starlight Thursdays Episode 188
Starlight Thursdays Episode 188 featuring PARRIS. Let’s give him a warm welcome to the series. It’s always exciting to feature a DJ we haven’t before. He has an amazing mixing style and I just can’t get enough of it. I’m sure you guys will enjoy digging into this one. What’s your DJ name? - PARRIS, its my last name How long have you been DJing? - About 15 years. Although I took a 3 year break and came back to it in July of 2022. Why did you get into it? - I was working at a bar and I had a friend that was a DJ who told me he thought I had good taste in music and that I should give it a shot. So after he would DJ at the bar, we would after party at his house and I learned on Serato using control vinyl and Tech 12’s. I instantly fell in love with it and bought myself a DJ controller. It was a Vestax VCI-300 if I remember right. With an FX processor. At the same time I was doing security for Music Lives Here shows and got to play my first shows with them. What events have you played? - I’ve played many of the Music Lives Here events around the state as well as most of the bars in downtown Bozeman. Pirate Party always stands out, but lots of other festivals. As of late, I’ve been playing at the Zebra in downtown Bozeman. In Fact, my next live gig is there, Dec 16th, with Red Velvet and Forrest. Where do you live? - I live in a very small town on the Rocky Mountain front called Choteau. I’m only here until next spring and then I’ll probably move to Helena. Its very quiet in Choteau. I don’t have a lot of friends here, so I’ve turned to artistry and creativity with all my free time. I work with music and wood. Where are you from originally? - It’s hard to say. I grew up moving around a lot. My dad was in the Navy, so I spent a lot of time in San Diego. He was a recruiter in Missoula for 4 years though, and when he retired, we moved outside of Great Falls, MT. I was 16 at the time. So I finished school in Montana before going into the military myself. What inspires you to DJ? - Music is magical. It can alter your mood.pDistract you from things. If you make music, you can be creative with it. I’m not great at producing music yet, but I’m a great DJ. So finding, ordering, manipulating, and blending songs together allows me to unleash the greatness within. I like to think we all have at least one thing we’re good at, mine is DJing. That might sound a little vain or egotistical, but I have a lot of practice at something I’m passionate about, and I feel the time I put into a mix really shines through. What inspires you about electronic music culture? - This will probably date me a bit, but the idea of PLUR was always very appealing to me. Especially the Unity. I feel I just fit in with the people that enjoy EDM culture. I think we all search for a sense of belonging and that’s where I found it. What Genres are in your mix? - This mix is House, Bass House, and Tech House. But I mix all kinds of music. My favorite mix on my Soundcloud is called, Decompression Session. It’s mostly late 90’s trip hop with a little pop sprinkled in. Its super chill. A few words about your mix? - I put hours into this mix. It’s about as flawless as I can make something sound. I hope you enjoy it. My favorite song in the mix is at 28:37, Diplo & Walker & Royce Feat. Channel Tres - Diamond Therapy. I like the feel of Hip Hop with a House beat. I have a few songs in the mix that are like that. And my favorite transition starts at 40:42. I just really like the way the phrasing of the two songs lined up perfectly in the mix. Thu, 26 Oct 2023 - 2h 47min - 184 - Ep 183 - Fish Bwoi - all original mix - Starlight Thursdays Episode 183
Starlight Thursdays Episode 183 featuring an all original set by Fish Bwoi. Really stoked to have him in the series. Here’s a short interview to get a closer look into Fish Bwoi. How long have you been DJing? 4 years Why did you get into it? At first I was just a hiphop DJ playing beats for local rappers sets but as I developed as a producer I started making more danceable music like house and techno and I’ve really only been playing out with that material for maybe three years. What events have you played? I’ve helped open for Bone Thugs at the Rialto and the Wilma. I’ve played sets in the past at the Top Hat. Most recently i've played the Power strip festival put on by “Daisy Chain Presents,” as well as a Maui benefit at Glacier Lanes in Columbia Falls and the Equinox with Sticks n’ Stones. There are too many house sets to account for individually. I am also currently booked to play the Blood Moon, Daisychains Halloween event on the 28th at the American Legion Bar Where are you from? Missoula, MT What inspires you about DJing? You can go anywhere to do it and without words you can all still connect and have a beautiful experience. What inspires you about electronic music culture? I identify with it very heavily, its all ive made and probably all ill ever know. I believe it's the only true future for music because it's so unavoidable. Making a beat today is easier than buying an instrument! And I pray instruments don't disappear because then I will run out of sounds to repurpose. What genres are in your mix? House, Techno, DNB A few words about your mix? This is my first ever recorded mix. It’s a bit messy. I'm practicing everyday. Listening back makes me feel like my past sets have not been as good as I thought. Eye opening lol For more Fish Bwoi check out https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/fishbwoi/simple-domain

Thu, 05 Oct 2023 - 1h 05min - 181 - EP 180 - Sticky People - House Mix - Starlight Thursdays Episode 180
Starlight Thursdays Episode 180, Lets welcome Sticky People AKA The Backseat DJ to the series!!! We’er super happy to have this good vibing house mix in the collection. It’s been fantastic getting to know him and experiencing his work not only as a DJ and music producer but also as a the brains behind “The Rainbow Fade” sound camp at Forest Creatures 6. How long have you been DJing? 22 years Why did you get into it? I was trying to get a job as a bartender at a bar and grill that had a dance floor, but they needed a DJ. I had never wanted to be a DJ prior to that, but I was a musician that could recognize a wall full of amps and geeky A/V gear, so I took the Job What events have you played? I put together a stage (The Rainbow Fade) at Forest Creatures 6, as well as a Jam Camp (The Jam Clam) at Saguaro Man 2013. I got to do an epic 7+ hour set at the Lost Lizard Lounge at Saguaro Man 2012. It was probably the best night of my life. I did a hip hop sunrise set that morning and I think it might have worked. I cut my teeth in a top 40 club that didn’t know what it wanted to be, so I got to learn mixing with corporate-approved cdr’s in a bar and grill that sold boneless wings until 10pm and lots of people danced to my very first attempts at “around the world” with madonna’s - “Music”. The first time I ever attempted producing my own mashup, the ingredients were the chemical brothers, eiffel 65, depeche mode and goddamn Jimmy Eat World. I ended one saturday night with that mashup and some girl came up to my booth to tell me that the last song I played was the worst thing she’d ever heard! Where are you from? Missoula by way of Phoenix, Venezuela, and Richland What inspires you about DJing? When you see people in the room react to a rhythm. Even if you aren’t necessarily into what’s happening and you’re just trying to figure things out, and then you see someone reacting and it fuels your next move What inspires you about electronic music culture? The closer i get to the subwoofers, the more things seem to make sense What genres are in your mix? House, bossa nova, breaks, garage, downtempo A few words about your mix? I love Erykah badu. I put together a bunch of other stuff that I’d discovered and dug in the last couple years to build a mix with Badu sitting right in the middle of it. The mix with Badu is probably the best mix i’ve ever discovered and pulled off. You should use it. For real. Anything else you want us to know? Fri, 29 Sep 2023 - 1h 15min - 180 - EP 179 - SHANE DEE - Cosmic Connection - Starlight Thursdays Episode 179
Starlight Thursdays Episode 179 welcome SHANE DEE back to the sound waves for his second mix with us. Shane is not just another DJ in this easily left behind EDM scene, he is an electronic music activist. Founder of the Las Vegas Trance Movement and co-founder of the Trance Arson weekly movement, he is tirelessly striving to create an underground scene wherever he plants roots. After years of residencies in and around Dallas, TX, Las Vegas, NV and being relocated around the country by the Air Force several times, he has undertaken the biggest challenge so far: injecting real underground dance music into Billings Montana. His influences range from Tiesto to DJ Shadow and far beyond, but by creating unique intro edits to each set and cultivating tracks into his own style based on venue and crowd energy, an apt comparison cannot be made to any existing artist. He has played with big names at festivals and clubs alike, but his mentality is not about name dropping, it is about the music itself, plain and simple. His hard hitting deep psychedelic sounds have Montana in their crosshairs, but rest assured that the entire planet is on the horizon. A few words from SHANE DEE: I just want to say thank you to everyone who came out for one of my sets this summer. I met so many amazing people. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces at Burn Babylon down at Oscars dreamland in Billings on Oct 7! You can also catch me at my monthly residency RITUAL: An Underground Dance Music Experience at the loft dance club in Billings, and the Ritual Radio mix series on soundcloud. - SHANE DEE - For more of his sound check out https://linktr.ee/shanedeemusic https://soundcloud.com/shanedeemusic https://www.mixcloud.com/shanedeemusic/

Starlight Thursdays Episode 178 featuring a Burning Man Inspired Mix recorded by BK Love. Black Rock City was an unbelievable experience this year. From dust to mud. Sunrise to sun sets. Dancing all night long in the desert. Deep playa art. Ridding bikes with friends. The ability to let go. To explore and feel as though the world is big and bright, filled with wonder and joy, but also loss and sadness. The fire destroys to ashes. This mix is inspired by those memories and feelings. -BK Love-
Fri, 15 Sep 2023 - 1h 25min - 178 - Ep177 - J Michael Kober Melodic Techno Starlight Thursdays 177
Check check...let this melodic techno mix transport you to another realm...a realm of insomniac 3am dance floors, where the bass is thumping and the melody hypnotizes. Words from the artist: There’s something about the energy and vibe of electronic music that my brain is wired for, it just makes sense to me. I belong here. We all do. I’ve really been into the 135-145bpm range of Techno lately, stuff that really drives yet still maintains melodic elements. These are some of my favorite tracks of the last couple of months.

Starlight Thursdays Episode 175 Featuring Saganist with his Minimal Explorations Mix. "Hello Everyone! So I've been exploring some different 4 on the floor vibes lately, I would describe these selection of tracks as minimal tech/micro house. They have a style that is mesmerizing, minimal and experimental at times. We’re excited to share this exclusive mix and interview with y’all. -BK Love- How long have you been DJing? 2 days! I just learned. But I’ve been making music for 17 years. Why did you get into it? I started writing songs at age 13 because I wanted to be a rockstar, but I found it was a great way to process my emotions as a teen. What events have you played? Forest Creatures / Crystal Mountain / Shine / Various small venues Where are you from? Great Falls, MT - Nomad during winter What inspires you? Sometimes I go through emotional periods but lately I’m just into cool sound design. I’m inspired by people who are true to themselves. What genres are in your mix? IDM, techno, plunderphonics, hmmm A few words about your mix? Image 11:56 is never-heard-before music created on the spot with my custom software (BeatDJ.ai aka Baby Alien). It is a sample based program but there are no premade loops. It is all sequenced in the moment. I started this recording by accident while testing and couldn’t stop because I got sucked into the groove. I’m amazed it all came together smoothly because in testing mode I am unable to preview the sounds before they come into the recording - the random numbers were on my side. Fri, 11 Aug 2023 - 41min - 173 - EP172 - Captain Marlinn Mega Mix - Starlight Thursdays Episode 172
Starlight Thursdays Episode 172 Welcome Captain Marlinn to the series. We have something special to share. This mix is made of 100% original produced tracks by Captain Marlin. It’s also his first time recording an “All Original” mix. We feel extra honored to have this recording in our series. Q: How long have you been DJing? A: I first got my hands on a DJ controller back in 2018, but it wasn't until the end of 2020 that I decided to take my passion for DJing more seriously. Q: Why did you get into it? A: My journey into the world of DJing and producing was ignited at Harvest Fusion 2016, my very first music festival. From that moment on, it became an obsession. Music has always been close to my heart, having played the guitar since I was 5 years old. Unfortunately, arthritis struck me at a young age, halting my guitar playing days. But then, EDM and dubstep entered my life, and I knew I had found my new musical path. Q: What events have you played? A: This year has been a turning point for me, as I just started getting booked by other promoters and production companies. I've had the pleasure of playing at Digital Renegades '23, “The Static Void Campout” in Idaho, and “Forest Creatures 6”. I had the pleasure of playing on the stages of “Temple Sound”, “Annunaki Sound”, “Ubuntu Productions”, and “Stormbornsounds” Additionally, I've been organizing my own private and public events since 2021 under the banner of Wook Mafia, a passion project co-founded by myself and smokeA:M. Some of the events we put on were "Big Sky Bass" and "Last Chance Bass Therapy." I also have been working with the Butte Action Alliance & the Susan Wicklund Fund to help raise money for women to get abortions who cant afford the travel, medical, and housing costs associated with it. Q: Where are you from? A: I was born and raised in Helena, MT, but now I call Butte my home. Q: What inspires you? A: My initial inspiration came from attending shows and being captivated by the incredible sounds other artists were creating. Today, it's the support and love I've received towards my music that keeps me going. Witnessing people's reactions when they hear my tracks booming through massive systems fuels my creative fire. Q: What genres are in your mix? A: I love experimenting with different genres, and my mix is a fusion of Deep Dub, Grime, Neuro Bass, Glitch-Hop, and Trap. Some of the artists who inspire my music include but are not limited to; shwiLLy, nnamba, TKYO, ill.Gates, and Resonant Language. Q: A few words about your mix? A: This mix holds a special place in my heart as it marks the first time I've crafted an hour-long mix comprised entirely of my original tunes. It took me just over a year of almost daily music production to reach this milestone, and I couldn't be prouder of what I've achieved. I just announced that I'll be hosting a show at "The Cavalier Lounge" in Butte, MT, on August 30th from 10PM-1AM. It's going to be a night of bass-filled magic, and entry is free for all those 21 and above. Come join the fun! I'm also putting up $200 for a remix compilation I'm doing on an unreleased track of mine, all producers are welcome to join. Thu, 18 May 2023 - 48min - 161 - EP 160 - J. Michael Kober - Techno Mix - Starlight Thursdays Episode 160
Starlight Thursdays Episode 160 featuring J. Michael Kober. Originally from Wyoming now residing in Billings. He briny15 years of experience to the decks and has certainly caught my attention with this amazing Techno mix. -BK Love- A few words from J. Michael Kober I love the music and the community and want to share the music that moves me with like-minded people. There’s something about the energy and vibe of the music that my brain is wired for, it just makes sense to me. I belong here. We all do. I created this Techno mix with tracks from Christian Smith, Filterheadz, D. Dan, Hadone, Yan Cook. I chose a higher tempo than I usually play out live, sort of a testing-the-waters experiment as I’d love to try this style at an event in the future. -J. Thu, 11 May 2023 - 1h 11min - 160 - EP 159 - Luna Bear - Deep Dub Mix - Starlight Thursdays Episode 159
Starlight Thursdays 159 Featuring Luna Bear. 3 years ago a friend of his with a set of old CDJs offered him the opportunity to learn and the rest was history. Although known for his ability to widely span many different genres, Luna Bear’s love for halftime deep dub and bass music are what keep driving him forward and further into the industry. As the owner/founder of Ubuntu Productions based out of Billings, MT he is always hosting local events, and is regularly involved with other local and regional events as well. He’s also been playing a monthly Ecstatic Dance event for over a year now at Studio Soul in Billings. He’s played a handful of events for Foundation Entertainment and Music Lives Here in Bozeman, MT as well as sharing the stage with local and regional artists including Beautiful Existence, DAWge, ET3, Danktech, and more. In the infancy of his own personal journey as an electronic producer, he looks forward to learning even more about the industry and creating his own music. A few words from Luna Bear. I’ve been in the music world for most of my life, but DJing was the first musical art that gave me full control over all the different things and ideas I wanted to try going on in my head musically. Electronic producers are continually pushing the boundaries of sound design and helping drive the sound engineering behind sound system culture. I really enjoyed getting to put this mix together. I haven’t had as many opportunities to play dub music lately and it was good to get back to what started it all for me. This mix spans genres from Halftime, Dubstep, Hip Hop and Deep Dub. Featuring tracks from IDHS, Dubamine, Burning Bush, Kwizma, Togeki, Kroomen and more. Hope you enjoy. -Luna Bear- For more check out his SoundCloud https://on.soundcloud.com/MJVNtYannQJB1Hfs8
Thu, 04 May 2023 - 45min - 159 - EP 158 - DJ Slacks - And Dont Forget - Starlight Thursdays Episode 158
Starlight Thursdays Episode 158 with another fire melodic techno mix by none other than DJ Slacks. This one is my favorite of his to date. Filled with ethereal uplifting tracks and truly beautiful moments. If you haven’t caught him playing live you’re missing out. I first met DJ Slacks when he was going by Stratton and playing reengage sets plugged into hidden electrical street outlets. It felt really special stumbling upon house beats on an evening walk and randomly busting a move with friends. His moniker changed and he’s playing indoor parties now, but I still get a special feeling during his sets. He’s got good vibes and a excellent taste in music. - BK Love - “This mix is special to me as it’s one I made in the middle of a depressive funk…I make music to help express and escape my feelings. I hope this mix can lift the former and deepen the latter.” - Dj Slacks -

Starlight Thursdays Episode 151 Featuring BRKN VSN recorded live at Suite Two for a benefit party raising funds for Blue Mountain Clinic. This is the 4th BRKN VSN mix in the series and my favorite one yet. I’ve appreciated each one she’s sent us and listing to them all, I got to say, to me this mix is a testament to who she is as an artist and how far she’s come. Fri, 10 Mar 2023 - 1h 02min - 151 - EP 150 - Brassica Live@ Suit Two - Starlight Thursdays Episode 150
Starlight Thursdays Episode 150 featuring Brassica (Chandra Brown) comes from Alaska but dreams of the Playa. She and her brother, Bear, grew up playing brass and bass instruments, exploring the depths of Northern winters, and growing State-Fair-prize-winning zucchini beneath the Midnight Sun. Her music celebrates the deep roots and brilliant progenitors of house and disco, and traverses the space between then and now. She has a Widespread Panic tattoo on her shin, but no one should ever hold that against her. “This mix features some of my favorite feminine deep house tracks, which felt appropriate for the Suite Two fundraiser for Blue Mtn Clinic” -Brassica- For more Brassica check out: Live This Saturday at https://www.instagram.com/p/Co6X1Mpr-T_/ And on IG https://www.instagram.com/brassica_beats/ SC https://soundcloud.com/user-899397520
Fri, 03 Mar 2023 - 57min - 150 - EP 149 - HNNH Live @Suite Two - Starlight Thursdays Episode 149
Starlight Thursdays Episode 149 featuring HNNH. We’re always stoked to get a visit from HNNH. They constantly pack a punch out the sound system with their wide range of eclectic music and seamless mixing style. Whether at the club, house party, festival or burning man they bring the vibe. I personally love their stage presence and the connection they have with the dancers. I’ve seen HNNH hypnotize the crowd into a swaying groove to full on jumping hands in the air time after time. This was their first time at Suit Two. If you’re not familiar with the space, it’s a Missoula basement art spot in a big old warehouse. There’s often parties and art shows hosted by Mark Myriad featuring a huge variety of local talent. It’s definitely worth checking out. This particular event was a fundraiser for blue mountain clinic in Missoula which provides abortion and gender affirming care, at a time when access to these services are under attack. If you missed the party but you’d like to make a donation visit bluemountainclinic.org/donate/ HNNH reached out and invited me to come and record their set. Really glad I did and appreciate the invite. Capturing live recordings from parties are always great and it’s amazing how well they take us back to that moment. In this case dancing with a bunch of familiar faces, close friends and the chance to get to know some rad people I hadn’t met before. I love that these parties have a way of bringing us together. A shared moment of dance, an inspiring conversation on the couch, bumping into your friends for a smoke… HNNH knows this environment very well and has often set the soundtrack of my evening in a direction I truly appreciate. -BK Love-

Starlight Thursdays Episode 148 featuring a freshly recorded House mix by Born aGreen. He’s been kicking it behind the decks for the last year. I had the pleasure of hearing his sound at Neon Night and found it super danceable, housey and fun. If you haven’t heard of Born aGreen perhaps you’ll recall a Cowboy with a green hat and beard, probably green vest and pants at the parties… this is the sound of our Green Cowboy. He followed his brother DJ Chachi into the depths of the party scene and found a long term home for him to find comfort in. He got inspired to get into DJing after years of attending Burning Man and a ton of local Montana festivals. If you haven’t figured it out already, his favorite color is green.

Fri, 27 Jan 2023 - 1h 01min - 145 - EP 144 - BK Love - Live@ Neon Night - Starlight Thursdays 144
Starlight Thursdays Episode 144 featuring BK Love with A live recording from Neon Night I believe house parties are the staple of the electronic music scene in Montana. Outside of our venues and mountain parties, often hidden out of sight from the public view, small sound systems bump providing all that’s needed for a living room dance session. These are my roots. If I had to guess there your roots too and perhaps the birthplace of party culture in general. Inside the comfort of home we explore the elements and fundamentals that make up the foundation for large scale gatherings. We engage in conversations that sometimes require a intimate space to explore. We connect with one another often building deeper relationships. It’s at these kind of parties I feel extra comfortable and inspired to be experimental with mixing music. It’s a treat to feel like there’s no pressure, to let go in the moment, explore the tracks and gear. I find myself getting pretty lost sonically. Layering track after track, looping and bending sounds with fxs, finding new ways to make transitions and selecting on the fly. This recording is from Neon Night. A house party by the newly formed crew “Mega Camp.” Behind the helm of the collective you have Angela, Juan and John often sharing their space and philosophy with the intent on having a great time. I think it was really successful. Lots of black lights, UV Reactive tapestries, comfortable cozy places to chill and a floor to bust a move. Delicious snacks and consistent PLURR vibes… Ah… I’m still glowing. They set the stage for beautiful conversations and a sense of togetherness that just leaves me feeling pretty warm and fuzzy. Here’s a few words they put together to share with us. "Sometimes the key to facilitating deeper connections with other humans requires a space where everyone is comfortable and in their element. Being in a safe place where you're loved, accepted and appreciated truly brings out the extrovert in you that you didn't know existed. One of the things we love most about vibing with other people is learning more about ourselves through them. People of all ages have different life experiences and knowledge to share. We thrive in environments where not only are we in good company, but feel like we're a part of a special tribe of people who have come together to create a holy space where we can dance, talk, appreciate each other to our heart's desire and know what it means to be alive. We're so grateful to have found a community that feels the way we do and wants to share this experience to the whole world. All people should know what it's like to be a part of something like this. It's our mission to be a lighthouse in the storm and guide others to a place of enlightenment." -Angela, Juan and John-

Starlight Thursdays Episode 142 Featuring Gruv42 with Her Funkin Gruvin Mix! We couldn’t be happier to share this amazing mix with you all. Happy New Year! When I was a kid (maybe 9 or 10), there was a band that played jazz standards at the beach near my house. This was a group of older people (maybe in their 40s or 50s but they seemed really old at the time) that just really enjoyed playing jazz. They let me stand in as their drummer on occasion and it fueled my love of rhythm and improvisation. I never became a drummer because I just loved melodic things a bit too much, but that drummer will always be a part of me. It’s mixes like this that honor my inner drummer, moving away from the melodic and progressive and just plain embracing some funky, nasty breakbeats. -Gruv42- For More Gruv42 check out https://soundcloud.com/gruv42, https://gruv42.com, https://www.mixcloud.com/Gruv42/, https://facebook.com/gruv42, https://instagram.com/gruv42 Track List ACEDIAS - Rave (Original Mix) Jamie XX - Gosh (Left/Right Remix) Ollie Rant, Takjocob - Wheel and Kick Up (Original Mix) Jiro - Dubwise (Original Mix) Ollie Rant - Tonysbox (Takjacob Remix) INVT - PALIZA (Original Mix) Gruv42 - Get In To This (Original Mix) Interplanetary Criminal - Supreme Level (Original Mix) INVT - Dassit (Original Mix) Gruv42 - The Bass Moves Ya (UKG Mix) Bowser - Dub Shot (Original Mix) Flume, Oklou - Highest Building (Prospa Remix) Bailey Ibbs - We Run (Original Mix) Interplanetary Criminal, Main Phase - MC Tip (Original Mix) -Urbano- - Too Busy (Original Mix) Bakey - Limit (Original Mix) Gruv42 - I Didn’t Want It To End (Get Down Mix) Guau, MKII - Coffee (Original Mix)
