  • 120 - Kurupt "Tha Streetz a Mutha"

Tha Streetz a Mutha, is Kurupt's sophomore studio album, dropped in '99 under Antra Records and backed by Artemis Records for distribution. This album packs a punch with its standout single, "Who Ride Wit Us." Notably, there's a fierce diss track titled "Callin' Out Names," aimed squarely at some heavyweights in the game, specifically Foxy Brown and DMX.By the beginning of 2001, this joint had already moved 440,000 units, solidifying its place in the hearts of hip-hop heads everywhere. Kurupt came through with that raw, lyrical heat, making sure his voice was heard loud and clear in the ever-evolving rap scene. This jam was laid down by the homie Daz Dillinger and his partner in crime Blaqthoven. It features a dope sample from "Ikes Mood," a classic banger by Isaac Hayes. The album hit the charts hard, climbing all the way to Number 5 on the Hip Hop list and landing at 31 on the Billboard 200. Not too shabby, huh?You can vibe to this track on Spotify—check the link in the show notes. And don’t forget about the Gangsta 100 playlist, where we’re dropping 100 tracks in 100 days. • 119 - N.W.A. "I'd Rather F*** You"

In 1992, N.W.A. unleashed a true game-changer with "N's 4 LIFE"—just take a look at that iconic record cover. This album is packed to the brim with classic tracks that have stood the test of time. Eazy-E certainly shone the brightest, his charisma so undeniable that even the legendary Dr. Dre and MC Ren couldn’t overshadow him. Nevertheless, all three of these titans came together to create a true West Coast classic. Now, let’s dive into one particular track—the solo piece from Eazy-E, titled "I’d Rather Fuck You." This track rolls in toward the end of the album, injecting some serious energy just when you thought about hitting that eject button! It’s a clever nod to Bootsy Collins' "I’d Rather Be With You." Honestly, I can't say I've ever heard that original track, but let’s keep it gangsta right here! Make sure to check out this banger on Spotify; you’ll find the link in the show notes. Don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast and spread the word with your homies.
