In Lebanon, the Iran-backed terror group Hezbollah has suffered an attack targeting their fighters, medics, and associates. A second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump occurred over the weekend at his West Palm Beach golf course. The suspect, Ryan Routh, was thwarted by the Secret Service, and the gunman now sits in a Florida jail, facing two federal gun charges, with more charges likely for his assassination plot on Sunday. A new report released on inflation shows the August Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, which does not include volatile food and energy prices, rose an expected 3.2% from a year earlier. It was a higher-than-anticipated increase by 0.3% but is the slowest rate of inflation in three years. The House Foreign Affairs Committee has released an extensive report on the failures of the Afghanistan withdrawal. Senior DHS officials are now saying targeting the Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua (TDA) is now a “priority.” While the gang seems to have a presence in various cities across the country, in Aurora, Colorado, police have confirmed that four suspects arrested in connection to a shooting at an apartment complex are all known or suspected TDA members and city council members are saying they are taking over their city. Law enforcement officials in Dallas, Chicago and New York have also reported increased TDA gang activity in their cities. The August jobs report is in, and the numbers tell us the labor market is cooling off. The 142,000 jobs added not only fell short of economists’ expectations for job growth, but the Labor Department had to revise its reports from June and July, lowering job estimates even further. It was supposed to be the start of jury selection in the Hunter Biden’s tax trial but in a surprise move the president's son pleaded 'guilty' to all nine counts. The polling keeps shifting in the 2024 presidential race, as attention focuses almost exclusively on seven swing states where the competition is further tightening. The RealClearPolitics averages have former President Trump up in Arizona by one point, Pennsylvania by two points, and North Carolina by less than a point. In Israel, citizens are out in the streets en masse—mourning and protesting. The demonstrations were set in motion on Saturday after it was announced six hostages (including one American citizen) were executed by Hamas terrorists just as the Israeli Defense Forces closed in on the hostages' location. The Israel Defense Force over the weekend detected Hezbollah was preparing to launch another barrage of rockets at them from Lebanon so they preemptively fired on those launch positions. A story nearly 23 years in the making: the controversial plea deal for the September 11th terror suspects was offered over a week ago by a U.S. prosecutor, then accepted by three detainees accused of plotting the attacks, including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind behind hijacking airplanes.  That plea deal upset some 9/11 victims' families for taking the death penalty off the table for those suspects. Two days later, that deal was voided by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.  We spoke with Brett Eagleson, whose father, Bruce, died in one of the twin towers. He's now President of 9/11 Justice.
