Sat, 31 Aug 2024 - 1h 12min - 1284 - US Open Day 4 - Alcaraz out; Botic Van de Zandschulp, what did you do!?
Carlos Alcaraz is out of the US Open. The Roland Garros and Wimbledon champion was beaten in straight sets by Botic van de Zandschulp on a shocking night on Arthur Ashe Stadium. And what does it mean for the rest of the tournament? We discuss all of that, as well as Karolina Muchova's victory over Naomi Osaka, the withdrawal of Elena Rybakina, Jannik Sinner brushing off criticism from Nick Kyrgios, and so much more on a seismic day in New York.

Sun, 07 Jul 2024 - 1h 09min - 1262 - Live from Wimbledon Day 6 - Swiatek comes up short on grass again; RaducAndy gate
At the end of an eventful day at Wimbledon, Catherine, David and Matt begin the show by discussing Iga Swiatek's shock third round defeat to Yulia Putintseva. There's analysis of what Putintseva did so well tactically, where it went wrong for Swiatek, how Swiatek reacted in her post match press conference, and whether she will ever crack grass. Last year's finalist, Ons Jabeur, was also beaten as the top half of the women's draw opened up. But Elena Rybakina put in a statement performance to thrash Caroline Wozniacki. On the men's side, there's great excitement about a fourth round clash between Holger Rune and Novak Djokovic after their late night victories, and Ben Shelton vs Jannik Sinner is previewed. The other big story was Emma Raducanu's withdrawal from the mixed doubles, meaning Andy Murray's Wimbledon career is over. We give our reaction to her decision.

There's chat about both matches in part two of the pod, while part one focuses on Iga Swiatek's birthday victory, Ons Jabeur's joyful win over Leylah Fernandez, and Matteo Arnaldi's upset of Andrey Rublev.

Fri, 31 May 2024 - 1h 20min - 1238 - RG Day 4 - Swiatek, Osaka serve up classic
It was a dreary day at Roland Garros, with the rain falling and play on the outside courts cancelled, but it came to life when Iga Swiatek and Naomi Osaka came onto Court Philippe-Chatrier and played one of the most thrilling matches of the year. Swiatek escaped as the winner, saving a match point, but it felt like Osaka won something too as she played her best tennis in years. On the pod, Catherine, David and Matt cover the match, the press conferences, and the disappointing crowd. Elsewhere, there's chat about an unconvincing win for Carlos Alcaraz, impressive performances from Ons Jabeur and Stefanos Tsitsipas, a big moment for Sofia Kenin, and a look ahead to tomorrow's schedule.

Mon, 27 May 2024 - 1h 05min - 1235 - RG Day 1 - Fun first day, but Djokovic reveals doubts
As opening days of Grand Slam tournaments go, that was a pretty crazy one, starting with Naomi Osaka winning a match that became too close for comfort, ending with Andy Murray walking off Court Philippe-Chatrier for probably the final time, and featuring lots of fun matches involving French players. The new Suzanne Lenglen roof was also unveiled and Novak Djokovic gave a cryptic press conference where he talked about having 'low expectations'. Catherine, David and Matt wrap it all up on a two-part podcast, that also includes predictions for Rafael Nadal vs Alexander Zverev on day two.

Sun, 26 May 2024 - 1h 10min - 1234 - Roland Garros Preview - Nadal gives reasons to believe
In our final preview show ahead of this year's Roland Garros, we were live in our AirBnB in Paris to react to an astonishing Rafael Nadal press conferences as he confirmed that he's feeling better, said there's a chance he could play this tournament again next year, and revealed that he's been practising well in preparation for his first round match against Alexander Zverev. There was a dose of realism in there too - he hasn't played at a high level for a long time - but his mood was much more buoyant than we were expecting.
We also react to Hannah's latest column to talk about how Nadal's dominance at the French Open has made us feel over the years and how to come to terms with what the tournament will be like without him.
Finally, there's reaction to Naomi Osaka and Bianca Andreescu's press conferences, chat about possible outsiders who could go on a run, a discussion about what would count as success for Novak Djokovic in 2024, and a run through the day one order of play.

Thu, 04 Apr 2024 - 23min - 1221 - Miami - Collins crowns final season; Sinner cements his status at the top
Our post-Miami live show was mostly devoted to the two champions, Danielle Collins and Jannik Sinner. With the help of listener Vicki Spreadbury, Catherine distills why it means a lot to see a woman like Collins succeed, Matt explains why she's now a certified member of The Backhand List, and David wonders how much more she could achieve before she retires at the end of the year. As for Sinner, there's chat about the Novak Djokovic-ification of his game and his dominance over Daniil Medvedev and Grigor Dimitrov on finals weekend. There's also a preview of the clay court swing as tournaments in Charleston and Estoril get underway. Which players are we excited to see on the clay? And who's in need of some good results?

Catherine, David and Matt convene to discuss a busy few days in Miami.
The women’s final is set between Elena Rybakina and Danielle Collins and there’s chat about Rybakina’s resilient run so far, Collins’ more destructive path through, and what might happen in the final.
