This is the sound of the 350 Supermodified feature at Hudson Speedway.  This was an extremely hot day.  In an attempt to stay hydrated I drank a ton of water, but did not eat enough or take in enough electrolytes.  As a result I ended up in the ER that evening with low sodium.

The Fagen Fighters Museum in Granite Falls, MN puts on a great airshow every three years.  This is a collection of sounds from the most recent airshow.  Aircraft heard are the Hellcat, Hurricaine, a collection of trainers, Spitfire, B-25, PBY, P38, T6, Corsair, and the TBM.

Recorded at an intersection while working a marshal post for the 2022 Ojibwe Forest Rally.  Radio traffic from my radio can be heard in the background.  The cars arrive from the left and make a roughly 90 degree left turn and head off in a direction that would be roughly straight away from the microphone.  The first car is Ken Block who threw enough gravel to knock down the recorder.

To make us feel better about ourselves this week we will go with a successful train recording.  This was recorded next to the tracks of the Staples Subdivision in Ramsey, MN.  There was a light rain falling which can be heard on the ground and hitting the box I used to cover the recorder.  While this was recording I ate my lunch inside my car from the nearby Aurelios Pizza.

This is the second in a two part series called Failed Train Recordings.  There are some very active railroad tracks near Prarie Du Chien, Wisconsin which I wanted to record a train going by.  I set up next to the tracks at Wyalusing Beach and waited for a train.  There was one that could be heard to the south but it seemed to be stopped so all I got was the distant train horn and some other sounds of the area.  After waiting for about an hour we drove south and found the train moving north a few miles down the line.  Bad timing!

The 1880 Train at the 1880 Train in Hill City, SD gives visitors a chance to ride on a stream train through the Black Hills.  The train uses used motoroil to fuel it's boiler.  This was recorded when the train was leaving the station.

Walking from the parking lot to the top of the Nimrod Dam in Arkansas.  When at the top of the dam I first walk to the outlet side of the damn and then walk to the inlet side.  A C-130 makes a low pass early in the recording.

The Kalamazoo Klash is the biggest race of the year heald at Kalamazoo Speedway.  It if a 125 lap race for the Outlaw Super Late Models and this year's version paid $15000 to win.  This recording starts at the command to start engines and goes until the first caution about ten laps into the race.

We stopped at the trailhead of the Walls of Jericho trail in Alabama so that I could do a Parks on the Air activation and while we were there we noticed a nice variety of sounds.  Bugs, distant fireworks, and overflying jets can be heard.

The Main Overlook at Cloudland Canyon State Park in Trenton, GA is a short walk down a relatively easy trail from the parking lot.  The day we were visited it really lived up to its name as there were low clouds in the canyon making for a beautiful view.  In this recording the nearby waterfall, birds, and me walking around can be heard.

This is part two of a series from a recent Tennesee and Michigan trip.

The Tennesee Valley Railroad Museum chronicals the history of the railroads in the Chatanooga.  Part of the musum is a short train ride to East Chatanooga where they have their shop.  At the East terminus of their line there is a demonstration of the turn table (next week's audio) and a short tour of their shop before heading back to the depot.  This was recorded in the non air conditioned car to best hear the sound of the train.  There is also a tunnel which the train goes through.
