David Scott Binanay is not just a violinist; he's a musical storyteller who brings passion and soul to every performance. A trained classical violinist with over 30 years of experience, David studied under Brian Reagin, current Concert Master of the North Carolina Symphony, David can deftly maneuver any genre, style, or melody on the violin.
He graduated from Villanova University with a degree in Humanities. Whilst living in Philadelphia, he developed a deep appreciation and skill for music production and improvisation. After having the opportunity to play at Carnegie Hall, an overwhelming feeling of disenchantment about the prosaic path of symphonics overcame David. Coupled with persistent health scares, he was compelled to make a change.
David yearned to push beyond the rigid boundaries and expectations of classical violin in order to fully realize his potential as a multi-faceted creative.
Recently, David has collaborated with notable Grammy Award-winning artists including a number of associated acts that have produced and arranged for Frank Sinatra, Dr. Dre, John Williams, and Aaliyah, among several others.
Although his bourgeoning music career is nearing the precipice of national acclaim, David unfailingly makes time in his schedule to play locally at the retirement homes and hospitals that he frequented just a few years ago to make ends meet. David is an advocate for Music is the Medicine - which we discuss in this episode as well.

- 25 - The Joe Capone Memorial Live Stream
Note: Not one of our typical podcast episodes
Joe Capone (aka Caponus, Cap) was our great friend. He was also our show's Twitch moderator, producer, and mentor. He's part of the reason we started the show - because he knew how to help us get it off the ground.
He taught us to love big and support each other wildly and openly. He showed us how every day by doing that himself.
Joe passed unexpectedly in June 2022. It was a rough time for everyone, and along with Joe's family, we're still mourning his loss. Not a day goes by without his name or humor popping up, and it's not uncommon to be perfectly fine and then suddenly not. We all grieve differently, and we've been trying to allow ourselves the time and energy to do so.
It took a few months to be able to listen to this memorial in order to edit and post it. After listening, we decided not to edit it. So it has all the live glitches and tech issues, all the tears, silences, live audience chatter, and potentially things that aren't conducive to a quality podcast. We decided that it's ok - we'd rather have a raw experience with this one. No ads or sponsorships, either.
Light a candle for Joe Capone https://obituaries.nationalcremation.com/obituaries/jacksonville-fl/joseph-capone-10784764
All donations will go toward helping Joe's family. https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted...
Podcast Notes:
The List of what Cap taught us about friendship and life:

2. Be a big softie
3. Try the new flavors of Peeps, Mountain Dew, Pop Tarts even if you think you won't like it.
4. Cheer for the Giants and wear blue.
5. Laugh BIG.
6. Love BIG.
7. Shamelessly, openly, and wildly support and cheer on your friends.
