Nu Directions

So over the holidays I found myself with time to take the journey to revisit and listen to lots of music that served as the idea behind the creation of ND and formed the basis of the show in its early years. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to so many great vibes that still remain fresh even now, and I thought that it would be a shame not to do something with that and so the idea of doing several "retro" podcasts/shows came to me. So here is the first of those podcasts that I also went live with. Thanks to the handful of souls who joined an impromptu live session. For this show I have focussed on some of the more danceable elements played on the ND shows around 2011-12. And so after a break of 7 months the show is back live on the Mixcloud platform for a 6 month season at least. This is the first of those shows that went out on Sunday. After a gap of nearly 6 months finally that itch (no pun intended) got to me. That need to stand behind the decks and play my type of music to people who share the same love. So a mid hiatus moment for you. Here is the set that went live yesterday. In the mix start to finish. Soulful house and garage for the first part and broken beat for the second part. This is the Brit Funk & Brit Jazz Funk All Time Top 30 that went to air on Easter Monday. The count was voted for in an amazing response from the listeners of Soul Legends Radio and the Jazz Funk Appreciation Society on Facebook. I was just lucky enough to be able to present this incredible selection of tunes that defined the club scene in the UK in the late 70's and early 80's. Here again for your listening pleasure.
