Well, well, well, if it isn't the Clitheroe Kid Radio Show! For those who don't know, it's a program that takes you back to the good old days of radio, where you can hear the sound effects of horses galloping, doors creaking, and actors over-acting like there's no tomorrow.
The Clitheroe Kid himself is a mischievous little scamp who always seems to be getting into some kind of trouble. He's like Dennis the Menace, except he's from England and talks like he's perpetually auditioning for a Dickensian play.
His family and friends are just as wacky, with accents so thick you'll need a translator to understand them. But that's part of the charm, right? It's like listening to a group of people who've just come out of a pub, and they're telling you a story that gets wilder with every pint.
So tune in, folks, and get ready for a trip down memory lane. Who needs TV or the internet when you have the Clitheroe Kid Radio Show? Just don't blame us if you start using words like "jolly good" and "blimey" in your everyday conversation.

Well, well, well, if it isn't theClitheroe Kid RadioShow!

Much-Binding-in-the-Marsh was a comedy show broadcast from 1944 to 1954, firstly by BBC radio and subsequently Radio Luxembourg. It starred Kenneth Horne and Richard Murdoch as senior staff in a fictional RAF station battling red tape and wartime inconvenience. Over the years the station turned to non-combatant operations, became a country club and finally a newspaper, The Weekly Bind. The programme's title may have been inspired by the RAF station at Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire, along with the word "binding", period RAF slang for difficulties or problems accompanied by whining or complaining. One of the most fondly remembered parts of the show was the closing theme tune, with topical lyrics each week referring to the plot of the episode, written and sung by members of the cast. Other cast members included Sam Costa, Maurice Denham, Maureen Riscoe, Dora Bryan and Nicholas Parsons.

ITMA was a character-driven comedy whose satirical targets included government departments and the ostensibly petty wartime regulations. It's That Man Again (commonly contracted to ITMA) a Radio Comedy programme which ran over twelve series from 1939 to 1949. The shows featured Tommy Handley in the central role, a fast-talking figure, around whom all the other characters orbited. The programmes were written by Ted and produced by Francis Worsley. Handley died during the twelfth series, the remaining programmes of which were immediately cancelled: ITMA could not work without him, and no further series were commissioned.

The Black Museum is another collaboration between Welles and producer Harry Alan Towers. The radio series treated audiences to crime thrillers based on actual Scotland yard cases. Its life spanned exactly the year 1952, with a few weeks off at the beginning of June.
Welles played his usual role of host and narrator, and also steered the series in terms of its major direction and aesthetics. Though Welles and Towers drew inspiration from Scotland Yard (the Black Museum was Scotland Yard’s crime museum), and while Towers produced another series The Secrets of Scotland Yard on that entity’s crime-fighting exploits, the aim with The Black Museum was not historical accuracy. Welles was out to provoke and to amaze with gruesome details. The format of the show was his host character strolling through the museum, whereupon, as radiohorrorhosts.com tells us, he would “casually pick up or point out various murder weapons and examine them, all the while droning on about the related crime as if it were a medical procedure.”Mon, 18 Oct 2021 - 51min - 140 - Take It From Here - Cowboy Story - UK Comedy

BAD BERT (1960.01.31)
Have Gun – Will Travel radio show broadcast 106 episodes on the CBS Radio Network between November 23, 1958, and November 27, 1960. It was one of the last radio dramas featuring continuing characters and the only significant American radio adaptation of a television series. John Dehner (a regular on the radio series version of Gunsmoke) played Paladin, and Ben Wright usually (but not always) played Hey Boy. Virginia Gregg played Miss Wong, Hey Boy's girlfriend, before the television series featured the character of Hey Girl. Unlike the small-screen version, in this medium there was usually a tag scene at the Carlton at both the beginning and the end of the episode. Initially, the episodes were adaptations of the television program as broadcast earlier the same week, but eventually original stories were produced, including a finale ("Goodbye, Paladin") in which Paladin leaves San Francisco, apparently forever, to claim an inheritance back east. The radio version was written by producer/writer Roy Winsor.
