You look at me,

I love the way

Your kisses

Make me hunger for you more.

In my heart I know that this is

What I’ve been waiting for.

My heart was beating

My chest was heaving

My mind was believing

That maybe…

When I opened my eyes

There would be a surprise

No more foolish lies

Would surround me…

But alas, I was wrong

I knew it all along

It is time to move on

Loving you was easy

Loving me took some work

I had to find myself and accept who I was

Amidst all the pain and hurt

See, I never thought I had issues

In my mind I was fine

Until things pointed out by you

Put self-doubt in my mind

Over time, things became clearer

There’s nothing wrong with me

As if by magic,

You appeared in front of me.

You weren’t there a moment ago.

Suddenly, what was once an empty space,

Contained you.

My eyes leaked at the sight of you.

I swallowed hard and licked my lips

As my breathing

Became more erratic from anticipation.

You moved closer,

Invading my personal space.

The back of your hand touched my face ever so gently

As the distance between our lips was replaced by the softest,

Most passion-filled kiss ever shared between two people.

My eyes are closed and I’m afraid to open them.

Afraid that I’m dreaming again.

That you’re not really here.

I first open one eye

And then the other…

I heard my voice call you

I peered at many faces

And wandered through places

I’d not seen before

Knocked on door after door

But no door would open

So I was no longer hoping

To see you again

But for now, you go your way

And I will go mine.

Sweet pain

Did you feel that?

I felt it too.

I felt the heat

Radiating from your body

As the sweetest pain

Surged through mine.

I felt you inhale deeply,

So deeply that you exhaled through me.

I felt your body tremble as satiation loomed.

I felt the sweat drip from your body

And land on mine.

I clung to you tightly as you expanded…

The Rain

Your half-naked body was glistening with sweat

The towel hanging from your neck

Was already soaking wet

Your image danced in my eyes

As I bit my bottom lip.

Your muscular thighs, too taut to grip.

I hope you like rain as much as I do,

Because all your wet dreams,

Are about to come true.

Lovemaking is best when you've been thinking about it all day long. The slow burn deep down within the crevices of your body beckons for the touch of your lover... the sweet release of passionate reciprocity has arrived. Indulge and become one... as intended.

I wish I’d never met you,

Or ever saw your face.

I tried hard not to let you,

But you invaded my personal space.

I let down my guard, changed my direction,

Before I learned the truth about you.

Just as I feared, it was all a game,

You wanted to see if you could get me.

It’s not your fault, I accept the blame,

The sun sets in the distance as we embrace. 

I hold on to you tightly,

 As though my life depended on it, 

In some ways, it does. 

I like it. 

I close my eyes and feel our hearts beat 

In synchronized rhythms. 

Our chests merge to become one. 

Your warm breath bathes my face and neck 

With feathered air kisses. 

It tickles. 

I like that too.

I’ve imagined you for most of my life,

Didn’t think you would ever be mine.

I hoped that one day, I would be your wife,

And our love would stand the test of time.

We would say, “I Love You” every day,

If the other felt the exact same way,

We could never be torn asunder.

We would remain faithful and true,

Since I’m not over you.

Temptation is hard to resist, especially when desire consumes you. Release yourself and succumb to the pleasure of lust and satiation.

It took more than half my life to accept myself without finding fault in what God created. It feels amazing!

EVOLUTION OF ME

Courage was distant,

Confidence non-existent.

Beauty within me,

I could not see.

Opinions of myself,

Formed by someone else.

Much time passed,

Wasn’t sure I would last

Transformation took a while.

I relearned how to smile.

Beauty within, I can now see.

That was the evolution of me.

When love is lost, it can be difficult to refocus and prepare for attracting new love. Be strong, be positive and believe in the reflection you see in the mirror.

REFLECTION

Days are long, nights seem longer

Since we've been apart

Feel so weak

Wish I was stronger

But you still hold the key to my heart

Our love affair was great at first

Thought nothing could come between us

What eventually happened could not have been worse

You selfishly betrayed my trust

Fortunately, now, I love myself

No need to worry about me

I felt a spark the moment we met.

I’ve never believed in love at first sight.

Is it possible to love someone

You’ve never seen before?

Someone you know nothing about.

Yet, when we met, I struggled to breathe.

My eyes were fixated on the image that was you.

As thrilling and excited as it is to fall in love, losing in love can make you feel like your heart is being ripped from your chest. The loss can open the emotional floodgates and consume your very existence. Keep the faith, strength will return. You are worthy of love.

NO LONGER IN LOVE

I sit quietly 

And reminisce 

About the things we used to do. 

The talks we used to have 

And how we were aligned 

Within one another’s minds. 

It doesn’t happen anymore. 

Did we grow apart 

Or 

Were we torn apart? 

I don’t really have an answer for it.

Had you given up on ever finding love? I mean that honest, soul-searching, I can't live without you love? Imagine that just before you totally call it quits and walking away... you spot them. Your eyes meet, your hearts melt and you fall hard! Don't give up. It could happen to you.

ALONE IN A CROWD

The room was crowded, but all I saw was you.

So handsome and debonair, and well-dressed too.

I suppose I heard some voices; I couldn’t really tell.

If I’m being completely honest, only my eyes were working well.

I wanted to be near you, but my feet would not comply

Frozen in place, staring at you, as the crowd was passing by.

The people began to clear a path, so I could walk to you

To my surprise and sheer delight, you were walking too.

The distance between us disappeared and

We were standing toe-to-toe.

You looked into my eyes and said,

“It’s time for us to go”.

I gladly accepted your outstretched hand,

I could not have been more proud.

From that moment on, we were one.

I was no longer alone in a crowd.

Looking for love can be lonely and at times, discouraging. Will you ever find your soul mate? That one true love? The person that makes your heart skip a beat whenever you see them? Take heart and don't give up, it's possible. Fate is always busy.

KINDRED SPIRITS

Thought all was lost

That I would never meet

My soul mate

Then you appeared

In desperate need

Of Love and Affection

Like me.

Salt Water is a poem about the emotional journey to self acceptance and the healing powers of shedding tears.

SALT WATER

Anxious and angry,

With no real reason why

Feeling broken and damaged,

Trying not to cry.

Things that happened long ago,

Seem fresh and new today

Hoping the anger doesn’t show

Wishing the hurt would just go away

Pray tomorrow will better

Hoping to feel renewed

But this day goes on forever

Annoyed, irritated and full of attitude.

Accept what is and let the tears fall,

Tell the painful past to be gone!

Emotional cleansing is the hardest of all

But necessary for life to go on.

Love affairs are amazing, when they're good and everyone is deliriously happy. But what happens when the thrill is gone and the relationship goes stale. You may decide that is is the best interest of both parties to go your separate ways. What's worse, is when one party begins to move on while the other is still in the relationship. The We That Was attempts to reminds us when love was good.

THE WE THAT WAS 

What happened?

We used to share everything.

Thoughts, dreams, fantasies,

Desires, you name it.

Suddenly, the sharing stopped,

And the secrecy began.

We grew apart.

You abandoned the love affair…

And me.

I guess some things 

Just weren’t meant to be.

That was the end 

Of you and me.

Sometimes, a breakup, although devastating, can be just what you need to move forward. Your new love will find you, when the time is right.
