  • 51 - Yog Nidra -2

Enjoy a deep state of relaxation through Yog Nidra also known as Yogic Sleep. For Yoga Nidra practice practitioner lies down in a comfortable position. Yog Nidra practice brings a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and the practitioner becomes systematically and increasingly aware of the inner world by following a set of verbal instructions. Practitioner is asked to follow instructions easily , comfortably and moving along with instructions-without pondering to judge , analyze or concentrate on instruction instead simply follow with full awareness. Practitioner is asked to stay aware and not sleep. This state of consciousness is different from meditation in which concentration on a single focus is required. In yoga nidra the practitioner remains in a state of light withdrawal of the 5 senses also termed as “Pratyahara”, with four senses internalized, that is, withdrawn, and the practitioner simply hears through their auditory channel- following instructions. Yog Nidra is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness . Practioner stays fully aware and if possible should stay awake and not sleep. If one falls asleep its ok! one can reaps benefit of good sleep. If you are trying to use this meditation to fall asleep than actually do follow instruction “of not falling asleep” during YogNidra, instead make a “Resolve” during Resolve time-at the beginning and at the end of Yog Nidra: A resolve to develop a great sleeping ritual for a resting -rejuvenating - natural sleep every night. It’s said resolve made during Yog Nidra does eventually manifest, so do take time to make a purposeful resolve to develop wellbeing in your life! Visit www.iavani.com to connect with us.
