#JBMuwongePodcast Uganda's Journet to Freedom RESPONSE TO MR. MUSEVENI'S STATEMENT ON THE SUSPENSION OF LOANS TO UGANDA BY THE WORLD BANK.Gen Museveni,Your recent outburst about the World Bank withholding future assistance to Uganda is a clear indication of your ideological disorientation and policy nomadism that has characterised your four-decade rule. You wasted twenty-seven pages trying to distort history and divert reality, that an average reader was left wondering who is (or has been) in charge of Uganda. As usual, you took no responsibility for anything that has gone wrong, but blamed everyone else, including imperialists, neo-colonial agents, saboteurs, bureaucrats, technocrats, Cabinet, corrupt politicians, the media, etc. Yet you were quick to claim individual credit for supposed successes. A careful analysis of your long quarrel reveals the four shaky and misleading grounds for your argument, and the inevitably wrong conclusions you draw. Evidence shows that apart from those you are blaming for Uganda’s failed socio-economic transformation, you are in fact the chief neocolonialist. Here are four areas that expose the emptiness of your argument: 1. DISTORTION OF HISTORY.First, you repeatedly paint a false and incomplete picture of Uganda before 1986. According to your false narrative, Uganda was a failed state with every imaginable problem, and that 1986 was the year of redemption by the National Resistance Army. Today’s school-going children and the youthful public in general must know that despite the serious damage that the violence (in which you had a major role), meted out against the quality of life, the State of Uganda owned a string of functional parastatals. It owned viable enterprises, and public infrastructure like district/regional referral hospitals, schools which were not only a source of national pride, but a launch pad for the kick-start that we so much needed. Your regime presided over the theft, and mismanagement of these assets in the name of privatisation. To date, you cannot account for the demise of the country’s textile, public transport, food processing, leisure facilities, agricultural cooperatives, and manufacturing capacity that made places like Jinja, Bushenyi, Masaka and Mbale shining beacons of the potential that our young country possessed. You have replaced Uganda’s public capital with miserable gimmicks like Operation Wealth Creation, replaced hitherto thriving agricultural cooperatives with non-starters called SACCOs. The NRA is not and was never the innocent, well-meaning, and foresighted actor that you portray it to be. It was and remains – as NRM –

Mpuuga, Abed, Kagabo disagree with NUP term limits
JB Muwonge : To those leaders and Ugandans opposing term limits for all leaders in National Unity PlatformYou need to understand that Term limits are extremely essential for any functioning democracy, they ensure that no single leader can overstay their welcome, abuse their power, and become entrenched in the system, leading to corruption and a lack of progress like it is for Museveni. It is an undeniable fact that leaders who stay in power for too long can become complacent, corrupt, and detached from the people they are meant to serve. This is a problem that has plagued our country Uganda for far too long. The absence of term limits for all leaders has allowed leaders like Museveni to remain in power for decades, leading to an autocratic style of governance and the erosion of democratic values. Those who oppose NUP term limits are essentially supporting this autocratic style of governance and are no different from Museveni in their outlook. It is essential to understand that term limits are not just about preventing one individual from holding onto power for too long. It is about creating a space for fresh ideas and perspectives to come into play. It is about giving new leaders the opportunity to bring their vision and expertise to the table, unencumbered by the baggage of previous administrations. It is about ensuring that the government remains accountable to the people and is constantly striving to improve. The National Unity Platform's efforts to push for two-term limits for leaders are commendable. This move will help to create a more vibrant and dynamic political landscape in Uganda, allowing for more voices to be heard and more diverse perspectives to be represented. It will provide a much-needed injection of new ideas and energy into Ugandan politics, and ensure that the government is more responsive to the needs of the people of Uganda. Those who oppose term limits are simply displaying their own greed and selfishness, their being insensitive to our outcries is now too loud. They are not interested in the well-being of the country or the people they are meant to serve. With over 47 million Ugandans, there is no shortage of talented and capable individuals who could serve as leaders. And perhaps as a leader, it's your responsibility and mandate to nurture new talents, and new breed of leaders. Allowing for term limits will help to create the space for these individuals to step forward and make a difference. As I conclude this, I state once again term limits are very essential for any functioning democracy, and the opposition to them is nothing but a reflection of greed, insensitivity, and selfishness. The National Unity Platform's push for two-term limits is a positive step forward for Uganda, and it is essential that this effort is supported watered, and encouraged. We must all work together to create a more inclusive Uganda. Thank you President Bobi Wine for giving us the Platform and the opportunity. Eric Mwesigwa can be heard asking, "Oyagala Abantu bange mbalyeemu olukwe?" at some point during this phone call audio recording. "Do you want me to betray my people?" loosely translated.
President Bobi Wine expresses in his song Uganda Zukuka, "Tuleeme kuba ba layisi kubanga eddembe lyaffe teligulwa bunussu," loosely translating as "we shouldn’t be cheap to trade our freedom for pennies."
Message from H.E Bobi Wine about the current situation of Erick Mwesigwa and Kulayigye.
The criminal, shameless military regime is at it again!
My attention has been drawn to a ridiculous video involving the UPDF spokesperson, Felix Kulayije and one of the latest victims of torture Mwesigwa Eric!
In the scandalous video, the victim accompanied by Kulayije while at Mbuya Army Barracks claims that the torture wounds he bears were not inflicted on him by UPDF but rather by NUP!!! Can you imagine?!
This same person in his complaint to Uganda Human Rights Commission is on record saying he was abducted by armed security personnel and gravely tortured. He also made a report at Kabalagala Police and stated that since he returned from the torture chambers, unknown people had been following him.
I wish to state that this is an amateurish attempt by the UPDF to spin the unfortunate torture of a citizen by the army, which confirms that indeed the torture meted out on Mwesigwa and others like him is sanctioned by the UPDF and other security agencies.
I am sure no body in Uganda can fall for this nonsense. They know so well has Museveni's regime of blood came through violence and deception, and continues to hold onto power using the same tools.
This is their standard behaviour! When Yasin Kawuma was shot dead in Arua, the UPDF claimed that the murder was carried out by our group. To date they have never arrested or prosecuted anybody. The country is also aware of the contradictory statements that former President of NUP Mzee Kibalama made in court after meeting the Chief of Defense Forces. Recently when they abducted and raped comrade Marinos, they quickly called a press conference and downplayed the heinous crimes. They did the same for Kakenza, Masereka, etc. The examples are endless.
There are some comrades who they tried to conscript into these kinds of games after torturing them, and when they refused, they threatened to kill them. Many of them are in exile!
We have also noted the empty claims that NUP abducts its own supporters using drones. Fortunately, vigilant Ugandans have always recorded videos of most of these abductions involving armed security men and everytime there have been such incidents, majority of the victims have been arraigned in court after building pressure through applications to court by our lawyers and the public. Examples are many- Katto Hussein Gaza, Motiv Kasaga, Bobi Young, Jamushid Kavuma, among many others. Only yesterday, they abducted another man right outside Buganda Road Court. Was that NUP in action???
I challenge Kulayije and his fellow conspirators to produce the CCTV footage of Mwesigwa 's abduction!
We hope that the blatant lies by the UPDF spokesperson are motivated by embarrassment, and that moving forward, they will stop abducting and torturing citizens.

- 36 - President Bobi Wine speaks out on bailed NUP MPs - Ssegiriinya and Ssewanyana
President Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine has in a social media post expressed his position on the allegations of negotiations that saw NUP lawmakers Allan Ssewanyana and Muhammad Ssegirinya have their bail approved. Below is the statement;
Greetings fellow Ugandans,
I have seen some people asking for my comment on the release of our comrades, Hon. Allan Ssewanyana and Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya.
- I am very happy that after such a long period of detention without trial, the two leaders are out of Kigo Prison on bail. I am very grateful to all leaders, lawyers, and comrades who for the past one and a half years, have visited them in prison, attended court sessions, spoken out against their illegal detention, supported their families, prayed for them, etc. We have not yet spoken about this comprehensively because we have not yet had the opportunity to see or speak with the two MPs. Ordinarily, when our comrades are freed from illegal detention, we speak with them and that enables us to understand better the circumstances of their abduction or arrest, what happened to them in detention, the circumstances of their release, as well as the general state of their health. For now, their families have told us that they are still undergoing treatment. We shall be in a position to speak out better after interacting with them. I have noted the insinuations that the two MPs were released after negotiations with Gen. Museveni and that they made some compromises and undertakings.
LET ME BE CATEGORICAL that I do not know about any such negotiations, and if anyone took part in any negotiations to secure COURT BAIL for detainees, they did so without my knowledge or endorsement.
Our position remains that we must not beg Gen. Museveni and his criminal regime to grant us our GOD GIVEN rights. The suggestion that one needs to negotiate with Museveni to get bail, which should be entirely a court process, is not only shameful but ridiculous. Unfortunately, that is what our country has been reduced to! Impunity, lawlessness and disregard for institutions normalised.
Secondly, negotiations involve give-and-take considerations. We have nothing to give to Museveni in exchange for our rights. The biggest thing Museveni would need in exchange is to stop fighting his regime of blood and shame and we are not about to stop doing that.
We hope that in the coming days, we shall be able to interact with the two MPs and guide the nation on the way forward.
FOR NOW the question the regime has failed to answer for all this time is, WHO KILLED THE PEOPLE OF MASAKA AND WHY?
Thu, 16 Feb 2023 - 02min - 35 - The continued Political persecution of Bobiwine Supporters in Military courts, Soldiers pounced on Comrade Sanya Muhydin , strangled him, and violently took him away.
hBY JBMuwonge At the General Court Martial where 32 of our comrades appeared in relation to trumped-up charges against them. Comrade Sanya Muhydin yet again rose up in the Military Court Martial and protested against their continued detention without trial for over two years, for simply supporting Hon. Kyagulanyi and NUP in the last election! Soldiers pounced on him, strangled him, and violently took him away. We were not allowed to see him after- only God knows what they did to him!
https://youtu.be/eN8heM1Sg3E
What transpired in the General Court Martial is not surprising. As Nelson Mandela said, “When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he has no choice but to become an outlaw.”
Praying for you comrade Sanya and all other inmates. It is very hard to imagine what they are doing to you now if they could strangle you in full view of cameras. The clarion call to all Ugandans has been made, and I hope all of us will do more to push for the freedom of our people.

All this while, Speaker Anita Among has been saying she's studying the report, and that she will give feedback! I saw the energy used to censure Hon Zaake and now Hon Namuganza over what is largely personal issues, I wish the same energy could be applied to executing Parliament work such as committee reports. Nonetheless, we shall not be deflated in our quest to do our work as we expose the rot in Gov't entities, whether the reports are eventually tabled or not. In this new year 2023, we're taking the exposing (kulabisa) to a whole new level!

- 25 - How Africa can avoid getting Scrambled | China America, Russia are all pulling Africa for a share
How Africa can avoid getting Scrambled | China America, Russia etc are all pulling Africa for a share African leaders must be more imaginative and proactive in pooling their efforts and setting the agenda. At the conclusion of the Berlin Conference of 1884-85, which notoriously carved up the African continent and apportioned its territories to Europe’s imperial powers of the day, signatories to the act that formalized the new borders and zones of influence highlighted education and the “material well-being of the native populations” as justification for their historic power grabs. Over the half-century or so that followed what came to be known as the “Scramble for Africa,” Europe did virtually nothing to further education on the continent and inflicted some of the worst atrocities of the modern era on Africans, as colonists raced to extract natural resources using land seizures and forced labor, and implemented military conscription to fight and provide pack horse-like logistical support in Europe’s wars. Most of what is recalled today about this terrible scramble are the arbitrary borders that created numerous economically crippled, landlocked territories and by turns divided members of coherent ethnic groupings and thrust together people with vast cultural differences or histories of enmity. Forgotten almost completely are the moral rationales that Western powers mobilized to justify their takeover and stewardship of an entire continent. Much has been written lately about a new scramble for Africa that is supposedly underway, involving a growing list of outside powers. The list is led by China, the United States, France, and Russia, but also present are other parties that have less history of involvement with Africa but are now being drawn in, including Brazil, Japan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states, South Korea, Turkey, Vietnam, and others. All are seeking business opportunities on the continent positioned to drive most human population growth over the rest of this century—or more insidiously, are aiming to counter the influence of a global or regional rival. Talk of a new scramble for Africa was strongly revived by last week’s U.S.-Africa Summit in Washington, the first since the Obama administration held one in 2014. U.S. press coverage has been peppered with allusions to a subtext for the event that was all but proscribed in the proceedings themselves but nonetheless seemed ever present in the minds of U.S. officials: how the United States can compete with China for influence in Africa.
Mon, 26 Dec 2022 - 09min - 24 - US-AFRICAN LEADERS SUMMIT, UNITED STATES IS SIMPLY COUNTERING CHINA'S INFLUENCE IN AFRICA
The Biden administration pledged $55 billion for food security, climate crisis and trade partnerships, in addition to a new agreement with the African Continental Free Trade Area that will give US companies access to 1.3 billion people and a market valued at $3.4 trillion. The summit is the first of its kind since 2014 under then-president Barack Obama. Meanwhile, China has been holding the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation every three years since 2000, widely seen as an essential means of advancing Chinese diplomatic and commercial interests. For nearly two decades, Beijing has ploughed funds into African infrastructure and supplied the continent with affordable consumer goods, ranging from mobile phones and solar panels to plastics. Until now, Sub-Saharan Africa has always been a low foreign-relations priority for the US, accounting for just 1.2 percent of its total two-way trade. However, western leaders have sharply criticised what they see as Beijing’s reluctance to address the heavy debt burden facing many African countries. Beijing’s ambassador to Washington rejected the idea ahead of the summit, citing a report that African countries owe three times more debt to Western institutions while noting that Chinese-built hospitals, highways, airports and stadiums are “everywhere” in Africa. Can Washington close the gap? As the US-China rivalry sucks the global economy and international relations into its orbit, the gap between Washington and Beijing’s footprint on the African continent is stark. China-Africa trade accounts for $254 billion – four times that of US-Africa, which stands at $64.3 billion. China is also the largest provider of foreign direct investment – double the level of US FDI – and supports hundreds of thousands of African jobs. Beijing formalized commercial engagement with Africa in 2013 with the Belt and Road Initiative, a well-resourced effort to build political influence and grow commercial relationships throughout the developing world through Chinese infrastructure lending, construction and resource extraction. A survey conducted earlier this year found that 76 percent of Africans aged 18-24 view China as a positive influence on their lives, compared with 72 percent for the US – further evidence that China is winning the battle for the hearts and minds of Africans. That is something US observers are starting to take note of. Released in August, the Biden administration’s US-Africa strategy document highlights that with one of the world’s fastest-growing populations, largest free-trade areas by geographical area and most diverse set of ecosystems, African governments, institutions, and people “will play a critical role in solving global challenges”.

The NRM system has survived all these years by sponsoring propaganda meant to discredit, derail, divide and eventually destroy those who oppose it. The good news is that no dictator however manipulative, ever outlives a country. The people always win in the end.
Ever since Bobiwine rose to political fame and flipped the script of Uganda’s Politics, there has been and there is still too much propaganda sponsored by the Museveni regime against Nup, People power and H.E. Bobiwine. Its intention is to of course derail discredit divert the cause and influence opinions of Ugandans, friends of Uganda plus the international community about the need for a non-fictional social economic and political change.
Today H.E. Bobiwine came out and described some of the approaches these propagandists use.

POLICE PLANTS MAGAZINE IN THE HOUSE OF A PEOPLE POWER COORDINATOR TO ARREST HIM - BUSIA.
When our Presient saw the News he said, This video depicts scenes in Busia District as security personnel attempted to arrest National Unity Platform coordinator and area councillor, comrade David Oguttu. Earlier on, security officers conducted a day-time search at Comrade Oguttu’s home. They discovered nothing to connect him to criminal activity and subsequently issued him a search certificate clearing him.
However, the same security officers returned to comrade Oguttu’s home later in the night and after a brief search, they purportedly discovered a magazine with live ammunition! They later attempted to arrest comrade Ogutu but the community put up resistance and the security officers abandoned their mission.
As you can see comrades, the regime is doing everything possible to frame its opponents for criminal activity. We are going to see even more of these incidents playing out against us all over the country, but we should remain firm and fortified by the conviction that we are pursuing a right and just mission; #WeAreRemovingADictator

- 7 - Court nullifies the election of NUP's Joyce Bagala as woman MP for Mityana district
Court has nullified the election of NUP's Joyce Bagala Ntwantwa as the Women's Representative for Mityana District following a petition by NRM Judith Nabakooba, the Minister of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development and a former police spokesperson who came second in the election.
Mityana District Returning officer, Mr Stephen Makubuya on January 15 declared Ms Bagala of the National Unity Platform (NUP) winner of the hotly contested race after she got 64,633 votes. The other candidate in the race, Ms Brenda Nabaliisa, garnered 1,515 votes. Nabakooba who came second in the January 14 elections after getting 48,322 votes accused the Electoral Commission (EC) and Ms Bagala (respondents) of conspiring to steal her victory.
During one of the hearings, the petitioner clearly told court that she had no evidence about the allegations she filed in the petition of voters bribery. So we wonder which evidence did court use to nullify this election!

Sat, 15 May 2021 - 06min - 4 - Uganda’s Dictator Museveni Unleashes a Reign of Terror.
From his origins in a ghetto in the capital, Kampala, the popstar-turned-politician—whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi—rose to challenge long-ruling President Yoweri Museveni in one of the bloodiest elections in Uganda’s history. Over the course of two days in November, at least 54 opposition supporters and bystanders were killed when riots broke out across Kampala after Wine was briefly jailed for allegedly violating COVID-19 restrictions.
By December, some 100 members of Wine’s campaign team had been arrested, including his best friend Nubian Li, music producer Dan Magic and bodyguard Eddie Mutwe. All three remain behind bars. Another of Wine’s young bodyguards, Francis Senteza, died when a military truck ran him over, in what Wine insists was a deliberate killing, despite army denials.
